Bet-El Ulpana

Erev Shabbath Qodesh Parashath Huqath 5772

Did anyone notice how quickly after the Holy Israeli Supreme Court, eviction notices were issued to the residents of the so-called "Ulpana" neighborhood?  "Ulpana" by the way, is simply a system of Religious Zionist, girls' high schools.

Next time, and there WILL BE a next time, the notices will be issued even more quickly.

The time after that?

I guarantee you that there WILL come a time when there WILL NOT be any eviction notices.  They'll just come.

They?

Whether it be the IDF, the hand picked non-Jews, and self-hating Jews of the IDF, the Israeli Police Force, which includes plenty of Arabs, or foreign military forces, "they" will come.

They will come in the night.  Families will lose all of their possessions, and they will be compensated for their pain and suffering with more pain and suffering.

Prime Minister Netanyahu has done it before, and he'll do it again.  Fifteen years ago, he turned Hevron over to the Arabs.  Now he is making concessions to the goyim, left and right.

Those who forsake the Land, like Shimon Peres, Yossi Beilin, and even "right-wing" Netanyahu, are like the Erev Rav who cried, when informed that they were coming to Israel.  Their connection to the Land is weak, if they have any at all.  They have no clue that it is not theirs to sell, bargain, or give away.

It is their pride which tells them otherwise.  It is their pride which will eventually bring them down (Em HaBanim Smeicha).

And what of those who bow down to a regime which spits on the Torah?  Granted, the Israeli educational system is nothing more than a system of indoctrination into State loyalty.  Do they have any change of breaking free?

There are also men, who call themselves "rabbis," who claim that we must be patient, that we must follow the State, no matter what, that if we believe that there is a conflict between the Torah and Israeli Law, then we obviously do not understand.

And the fact that many of these "rabbis" receive their salaries from their Almighty State is irrelevant?

They told us not lift up a hand to an IDF soldier.  They told us to hug the soldiers and to cry with them, and then leave quietly.  They told the soldiers to follow their orders to throw Jews out of their homes, and to allow the regime to hand over land to the Arab enemy (ie. mesirah).  Our own YeSh"A Coucil was also complicit in the expulsion of Jews from Azza.

And what did we receive in return?

Babylonian Talmud, Sanhedrin 97a
It was taught, Rabbi Yehudah said: In the generation when the son of David comes, the house of assembly will be for harlots, the Galilee will be in ruins, Gablan will lie desolate, the residents from the border towns will wander about from city to city, receiving no comfort (hospitality), the wisdom of scribes will be in disfavor, God-fearing men will be despised, people will be dog-faced, and the truth will be absent, as it is said, "And the truth is absent, and he who withdraws from evil makes himself prey." (Isaiah 59:15)
Many of the former residents of Azza still do not have permanent housing.  But, the truth is that most of those residents were unwilling to fight for their homes.  Most of those residents never believed that their Almighty State would actually go through with throwing them out of them homes onto the street.  Actually, those who actually made it to the streets of "Limosine Liberal," North Tel-Aviv were throw out of there, too.

Rabbis, like Rabbi Avraham Shapira ztz"l, the late Rosh Yeshivah of the Merkaz HaRav Kook Yeshivah, who told soldiers to refuse orders, and to be proud to sit in jail for doing so, had their words suppressed.  Many of the mamlakhtim (undying State-loyalists) even claimed that Actually, the only "crime" of these rabbis was not having the right PR, and the money to pay for it.

Faith in the Almighty, faith that one is doing the right thing is not so easy, I admit.  But, fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice, shame on me.

Are you going to be fooled by them again?  The Erev Rav controlled, Israeli government?  Their court rabbis?  The YeSh"A Council?

Or are you going to follow halakhah?

Is R'Zalman Melamed mara deatra of Bet El and architect of the compromise that led to the peaceful evacuation of Givat Haulpana also one of your "Rabbis" in quotation marks? If Bibi follows through with his promise to build 300(!) new homes in Bet El then the evacuation of Givat Ha ulpana will have been worth it. In the larger picture the State led by the Likud under Bibi will continue to settle Yehudah and Shomron along with the Negev and Gallil. This is really only a minor incident, unfortunate but in no way does it negate the forward march, BSD togeulah shleima.

Shalom!
You should give links to the "Meraglim" videos. How anyone can watch them and not fight for his/her house is beyond me.

I pride myself on my anti-state/anti IDF ideology but I must disagree with you here.

Both the right and the left think it is still 2005, but things have changed. Knocking down a few houses is all the current government is capable of, and is all it's successor's will be able to do as well. Look at how desperate Bibi was to avoid a confrontation, there is a reason for that: he knew he'd have to deal with mass refusals and he'd lose the support of the right. Unlike Begin and Sharon, Netanyahu needs right wing support to stay in power.

Nasrallah once pointed out that the Israeli public is weak as cobwebs. He couldn't have been more right. They don't have the stomach for a struggle with the settlers anymore. In 15 years there will be over 200,000 settlers beyond the fence, the IDF's combat units will be almost entirely religious and the left will still be fantasizing about withdrawals. But it will still be just a fantasy.

David,

1. As you know R' Melamed and Aviner are joint rabbis of Beth. R' Melamed has bent over backwards to keep the peace in Bet El, and (to the best of my recollection) has only publicly disagreed with Aviner once in the last 7 years. If R' Melamed was behind the agreement, that would be very disturbing, indeed, and worth checking into. Thank you for pointing out the possibility.

2. It doesn't matter how many homes he promises to build, it's not for him to decide what to do with the Land that HaShem put into our hands.

3. Encouraging settlement in the Gallil and Negev are definitely important.

Hadassa,

Thanks!

Here it is!

Meraglim

Interestingly enough, you will see two prominent residents of Bet-El here testifying to the betrayal by the YeSh"A Council.

Of course, you will also see Aviner telling Jews to leave, as well as testimony that he attacked a boy and an Avrech.

I think he needs to work on his priorities.

B"H - David Tzohar, it's not up to us to weight five buildings against 300 permits. It's like Shimon & Levi saying to Dina's raper: Fine, now give us something and we'll close an eye"! Nono, we are not gods, we are just ordinary Jews, kept to follow the Book. So, that is what we should be doing. Just following the book. Besides, there is a chance that the soldiers and police, not to mention the higher "authoroties" connected to this, qualify for being mosrim.

I don't know what you mean here. It is not Bibi's personal decision but he is the head of the duly elected government that represents the will of klall Yisrael in Eretz Yisrael. I would suggest that you look at the book L'emunat Iteinu by Rav Tau SHLITA for insight on how the State and its government represent the will of Klall Yisrael.

Democracy is a Greek, ie. Hellenist system of government, not a Jewish one.

I am familiar with the mamlakhti pilpul.

I am not interested in the will of Klal Yisrael. I am interested in the Will of HaShem, which is clearly NOT be executed leKhathillah.

Furthermore, the PM and Knesseth do not even execute the will of Klal Yisrael. They execute the will of the goyim (galuth mentality).

The will of Klal Yisrael? They execute their own will, in order to keep their seats in Knesseth. Most of them are not even kasher for eduth. Their representation is maintainance at best, until a truly Jewish government can be established.

I suggest you read (re-read) Em HaBanim Smeicha. Their gaivah will eventually bring themselves down, yet not soon enough for my taste.

Speaking of Rav Tau, do you know how it is that countless writings of Rav Kook were found in the Merkaz geniza after he left?

Do you know how it that R' Tzuriel's books on Rav Kook were banned from Merkaz, and then (after he left) were not only accepted, but encouraged reading?

David Tzohar said...

Even though I am a talmid of both R'Tau and R' Tzuriel I am unaware of any machloket between them concerning the publication of Rav Kook's manuscripts (perhaps because I try to distance myself from rechilut and lashon hara. Suffice it to say that AFAIK Otzrot HaRaya is not banned from Yeshivat Har Hamor.
I wont bother you with more "mamlachti pilpul" but mamlachti peshat mibet midrasho of Harav ZTZL says that it is not for us to complain that the Geulah is brought by those who are not meshlomei emunei Yisrael. As R Akiva was willing t see the Geulah brought by Bar Kochva we see the Geulah brought by the likes of Ben Gurion and (lehavdil) Bibi.
Maybe you could point me to the specific parts of Eim HaBanim Smeicha that you were referring to?

Rav Teichel said something similar about those building up the Land, not being Torah observant.

That doesn't mean we have to sit back, and wait around for Mashiah. This "waiting around" hashqafah of Satar, etc. has actually only existed for about 500 years.

It is complete absent from the writings of the Ramba"m, for example.

This is where mamlakhtiyuth stops short. Encourage aliyah, but...

"We can't bring the qorban Pesah, because we're not ready." "We can't build the Miqdash, because we're not ready." I do not recall this being a halakhic source. These answers came from rabbis in Eli, in case you're wondering.

Review the part in which he brings down the midrash of the shrak-rak bird. I will find the page when I have a chance, but that won't be until next week, I'm afraid.
