Haveil Havalim #382: The Dual Elections Edition

ז' לחודש השמיני תשע"ג

Founded by Soccer DadHaveil Havalim is a carnival of Jewish blogs -- a weekly collection of Jewish & Israeli blog highlights, tidbits and points of interest collected from blogs all around the world. It's hosted by different bloggers each week, jointly coordinated through our Facebook Group., and headed up by Jack.  The term 'Haveil Havalim,' whichmeans"Vanity of Vanities," is from Qoheleth, (Ecclesiastes) which was written by King Solomon. King Solomon built the Holy Temple in Jerusalem and later on got all bogged down in materialism and other 'excesses' and realized that it was nothing but 'hevel,' or in English,'vanity.'

OK.  We might as well get the election fever, or as Batya at Shiloh Musings would call it, Political Pundits Dream Season , out of our systems, since I KNOW it's on all of your minds.  But, first, some Torah...

Torah

Tomer Devorah tells us about The Eighth Month, and Ariel at The Torah Revolution brings us simply Torah.

Nah.  Changed my mind.  Elections will be interspersed below, so that you'll at least have to skim through everything else.

Israel

Miriam's Words lets us know what it's really like in the South, getting blasted at by rockets from Gaza in Tzeva Adom, Tzeva Adom. So does Batya at Shiloh Musings in Real Voices From Israel's Battered South.

Ariel at The Torah Revolution warns us of Another Step Towards World Government.

The Real Jerusalem Streets reports the Hadassa Women Cause Chaos In The Center Of Jerusalem.  I'm still not sure what she was referring to, but...  Meanwhile, Rafi at Life in Israel reports on Hadassa Selecting A Rabbi.

I report on The Jerusalem Sukkoth Parade.

My Esser Agaroth (2¢) suggests that The Jewish Home Party is neither Jewish, A Home, Nor Even A Party.  Discuss amongst yourselves.

Batya at Shiloh Musings tells us about Bibi's Cabinet On A Tight Leash.

Anthony Reich at The Israel Situation senses a Lack Of Election Excitement.

Life In Israel

Ricki's Mom at Beneath The Wings tells us about A Poor Birthday Gift.  Life sometimes throws us some stuff.  So can the Israeli Ministry of the Interior.  Grrr...

Ariel at The Torah Revolution shows us how to deal with Christian missionary infiltrators in To Nuru Nyambura Ngagi.

Leah at Ingathered brings us something to think about in The Personal G-d Of Elisheva.  Likewise, Mr. Cosmic X In Jerusalem brings us A Stranger Will Not Understand.

In Exile

U. S. Elections
Debbie Schlussel asks Who Won Last night's Presidential Debate?  Does It Make A Difference?

The Jack B. (my personal "dad blog" favorite) brings us Betrayed.

Well, that's a wrap!  Marina Shemesh will be hosting next week's edition on her A Letter From Israel blog.
