More Disturbing News From France

ל' לחודש השביעי תשע"ג

On Shabbath, Hol HaMo'ed Sukkoth, I received some disturbing news from France.

We have all heard quite a bit of disturbing and tragic news from France over the past year, but the news I heard this time was particularly disturbing.  Here's why.

I was staying by friends in Eli. For dinner, we were joined by a family from France, which had only been in Israel for not even two months.  My French is almost non-existent, and the husband's English seemed to be almost as bad as my French.  But, his Hebrew was pretty good.  So, we were able to communicate.

We went back and forth with the usual questions.  Honestly, I couldn't wait to ask him about France.  Was it really that bad for Jews?

It was worse.

I'm not talking about not being able to wear a kippah in most Paris neighborhoods, Muslim unrest and violence, the French Foreign Minister's denial that Jews have any connection to Israel, or even the fear of getting shot (חס וחלילה ולא עלינו!).

What could be worse?

French rabbis, or rather French "rabbis," are telling Jews to STAY IN FRANCE!

But, that's not all!

A resident of Eli, originally from France, was actually prevented from speaking in a synagogue (or more?) in Lyon.

Prevented!  What were they afraid of?  I wonder.

It sounds strangely similar to when Rabbi Yissakhar Shlomo Teichtel ztz"l was prevented from speaking in synagogues in Hungary during World War II.  He knew what was coming.  His fellow Hungarians might have as well, but couldn't or wouldn't face the inevitable.

Can't European Jews learning from history?  Do they really have such short memories?

Heck!  Even former Prime Sinister Ariel Sharon told Jews they should make aliyah, and didn't seem to care too much that he upset more than a handful of French officials.

It is no coincidence that that Jewish towns with a high percentage of French speakers have been growing over the past ten years.

French Jews living in Israel having been working very hard to encourage aliyah.  Towns like Ofra, for example, did not have any significant French speaking population 10 years ago.  It does now, and it's not the only one.

French Jews ARE leaving France, in spite the "rabbis" and brainwashed colaborators putting stumbling blocks in front of them.

But, how many more will be able to make it out, before it's too late?
