Arutz 7: Pressed to Create Arab School, Mayor Gives Definitive NoIn 2010, Mayor Gapso forbade the display of Christmas trees in Upper Nazareth, in order to prevent harming the Jewish character of the city (Ahiqam Moshe, Ma'ariv, Dec. 22, 2010, p. 12).
“Upper Nazareth was founded to make the Galilee Jewish and must preserve this role,” the mayor said amid pressure to open an Arab school.
Mayor Shimon Gapso

In a definitive response to an appeal to create an Arab school in Upper Nazareth, the city's Mayor rejected the proposal and vowed that no Muslim establishment would be erected on his watch - whether it be a mosque, a Muslim cemetery or an Arab school. (cont.)
The year 2010 also saw Upper Nazareth's opening of a Yeshivah High School, a Hesder Yeshivah, a pre-IDF religious study program (mekhinah), and a new Religious Zionist oriented neighborhood. (Wikipedia)
Said Mayor Gapso,...
"I do not keep the 613 Mitzvot (Torah commandments), but there is one mitzvah I fulfill with all of my strength, this is the mitzvah to settle the Land. Fortunately, I have many participants in this mitzvah - MK Uri Ariel, Minister Silvan Shalom, Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu, and more, and many people who wish Upper Nazareth well" (Upper Nazareth Newsletter).Gee. Where can we get a mayor like that?
