YNET: Police block roads to prevent marijuana legalization event
April 19, 2014, 11:12 PM
The Jerusalem District Police on Saturday closed the roads to the Wohl Rose Park following an event called "The Big Bong Night" a protest for the legalization of marijuana. The event, that was suppose to start at midnight, called on people to arrive at the park and smoke the drug.
On Friday, the Jerusalem Magistrate's Court accepted the police's request to ban the event. The police claimed that the organizers of the event didn't request a permit to assemble and that it intend to exercise the court's warrant and prevent protestors' entrance to the park.(Noam 'Dabul' Dvir)
Esser Agaroth (2¢):
Well, it is now 1:15 AM, and I have been hearing a yelling crowd for quite some time now. My guess is that it is coming from Yaffo Street, close to the Shuq. I cannot be sure due to the echoing common in this are, and I do not feel like going out to investigate.
For now, I will hazard a guess that the sounds of protest from outdoors have something to do with not being allowed to carry out their smoke-in, smoke-out, or whatever they call it, The Big Bong Night in the Rose Park, near the K'nesseth, a common venue for demonstrations.
According to Walla!, two of the organizers were arrested.
