Another Law to be Used Against Jews

Times of Israel: PM to push for mandatory minimum sentences for rock-throwers
After fatal Jerusalem attack, Temple Mount violence, Netanyahu to propose legislation at emergency meeting Tuesday

Times of Israel Staff, September 14, 2015

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is considering fast-tracking legislation that would introduce mandatory minimum sentences for suspects convicted of throwing stones and firebombs.

According to a Channel 2 report, the PM will propose the legislation at an emergency cabinet meeting Tuesday evening, once the Jewish New Year holiday is over. The meeting will address deterrent measures against rock-throwers and will be attended by Defense Minister Moshe Ya’alon, Public Security Minister Gilad Erdan, Justice Minister Ayelet Shaked, Attorney-General Yehuda Weinstein and representatives from the security forces.

The emergency meeting comes after a series of violent incidents over the holiday, including a rock-throwing attack that led to a fatal car crash in Jerusalem Sunday night and riots on the Temple Mount.

The prime minister sees incidents of rock-throwing and firebomb attacks against Israeli citizens as very severe and intends to fight this phenomenon with every available measure including stiffening punishments [for such crimes],” according to a statement released by the Prime Minister’s Office. Alexander Levlovitz, the man who died when he lost control of his car and crashed after terrorists threw rocks at the vehicle in Jerusalem. Levlovitz died early in the hours of Monday morning, the first day of Rosh Hashanah, the Jewish New Year, on September 14, 2015. (cont.)

Esser Agaroth (2¢):
Let us not forget that there are "Arab Israeli" citizens, in addition to Jewish Israeli citizens.

What will happen when there are clashes instigated by Arabs, and Jews have no other way of defending themselves but with rocks? The Jews will be arrested and the Arabs will go free.

How much do you want to bet that if this proposed law law passes, it will be applied differentially to Jews and Arabs. While shady if not absent eye-witness testimony will miraculously convict Jews of rock throwing, Arabs will be easily let off the hook for the same crime?

Gee, I wonder what those rocks are for?

Border Police police attempted to arrest suspects in the murder of Alexander Levlovitz, and were met with violent resistance on the part of local, Arab residents. Will there ever be a time when Arabs will be let off the hook, for the sake of police safety, while compliant Jews will be hauled in, arrested in the middle of the night?

Already, police have been known to avoid certain Bedouin clans in the Negev, fearing for their lives, thus the Israeli Government gives Bedouins defacto autonomy.

Earlier this year, two police officers were trapped in their vehicle, and on the verge of being lynched, in Rahat. Rahat is an Arab city in the northern Negev. It even has a train station, not what you would call out in the middle of nowhere.

The proposed law is also supported by opposition leaders Tzippy Livni (non-Zionist Camp) and Yair Lapid (Yesh Atid). So, my guess that the legislation will pass, and be spun on both sides of the aisle as a victory, perhaps even hailed as a victory in the struggle for unity.

Meanwhile, Jews will be targeted. But, they will call it a victory anyway.

Before making a new law, maybe the Israeli Government should try enforcing the laws it already has.

  1. The Arabs keep saying Gaza is a big prison, so send them all to Gaza. Any Arab caught throwing a rock at a Jew, immediate removal to Gaza with no possiblity to return - ever. One day, we or Hashem, will take care of all of them in one go.

  2. I thought they already enacted enhanced laws against rock throwers and fire bombs? Maybe that was in Yehuda and Shomron only? It was Yaalon who did it. And really, 'minimum' action against them? What in the world is minimum?

Just shoot them in the legs, so they can't run anymore! Or aim for the hands! Put them out of our way.

  3. No idea.

Be careful what "incitement" you suggest. It'll just be used against Jews.
