Esser Agaroth Defends John Galliano?

י"ח לחודש השנים עשר תשע"ג

No, not exactly.  But, please read on....

YNET: Galliano's Outfit: Anti-Semitic Or Just Eccentric?
New York Post posts photo of disgraced fashion designer wearing hat, ringlets described as resembling those of a Hasidic Jew

February 14, 2013

Fashion designer John Galliano didn't appear at New York Fashion Week, but he made headlines there anyway. Galliano landed on the front of the New York Post on Wednesday under the headline "Shmuck!" with a photo of the designer wearing a hat and ringlets described as resembling those of a Hasidic Jew. John Galliano, committing several fashion violations
Esser Agaroth (2¢):
As an introduction as to why I am even bothering to comment on this, I'll just say that I know one or two things about [Western] fashion, so this story caught my eye, and leave it at that.

Those of you who know me personally are in constant disbelief when I say things like this, since you all think that I dress too schlumpy casually.

Regarding Galliano's pseudo-Hassidishe ensemble, "disappointing" is an understatement.

Funny, that the ADL defends him.  They previously "forgave" him, and "welcomed him back into fashion," whatever the heck THAT is supposed to mean,...as if the ADL had the authority to decide what was fashionable.  OY!

See what I mean?

Why is the ADL even still around?  I am so sick of its whining about "problems," and its lack of participation in the only solution for the physical and spiritual improvement of the lives of Jews: Aliyah! - immigration to Israel.

But, I digress...

Whether John Galliano loves Jews or hates Jews, who cares?  So, buy his stuff, or don't buy his stuff!  Why his previous employer, Christian Dior fired him must have had something to do with whether he was, or was not, making the fashion house money.  That's the bottom line in the fashion industry.

My experience?  Bad designs AND bad publicity are both, generally speaking, NOT money-makers.

I think that Galliano's biggest "crime" here was trying desperately to get attention obtain publicity, any way he could.

I am familiar with Galliano's work.  And it is really not bad,...usually.

What Galliano needs to do is to take a lesson from his current employer Oscar de la Renta, who is known for his consistency.  This, I think, is one of Galliano's biggest problems.  He is highly inconsistent.  If it is true about his drinking,...well,...that has probably not been helping matters.

He also needs to take his design concepts, and stop his silly, poser eccentricities.  And, in my not-so-humble opinion, that is exactly what his whole pseudo-Hassid look was about.

Perhaps he was trying to set a fashion trend. I don't know.  Then if he could also get across his feelings towards Jews through his design, then my guess is that would simply have been the frosting on his cake.

He made a gross miscalculation.  Nothing more. Nothing less.

Here is a look at a couple more of his miscalculations...

Big hat, big tie, whiskers.  I can't tell them apart.  Can you?

AND...

What is it with Galliano and hats?
Yes, haute couture can be over-the-top to say the least.  But, there is still a difference between haute couture and attempted-attention-getting-idiocy.

Hmmm...There I go again,...getting involved with עלמא דשיקרא (the world of lies), and having a galuth (exile) relapse.

Nobody's perfect.

But, at least I try to keep things in perspective.

Do you?

Am I Still A Racist?

חג פורים דפרזים תשע"ג

With Purim having arrived in most of the world, fast approaching here in Jerusalem, and in light of my recent piece Gee, I Guess I'm A Racist, I thought that I would check and see if I am, indeed, still a racist.

"What does this have to do with Purim?" you ask.

Over the years, the holiday of Purim has been and sometimes even referred to as an outright "racist" holiday by the Far Left.

Who could forget former MK Yossi Sarid's (Meretz) suggestion that we cancel the reading of Megillath Esther (Scroll of Esther) because of how racist it is, which led to his being cursed by Rabbi Ovadiah Yosef, prominent Sepharadi spiritual leader?

First a story.  Then I will examine Megillath Esther, to see if it is indeed racist.

Years ago, I taught in a Jewish, secular school, which was made up of 2/3 Jews and 1/3 Arabs, both Muslim and Christian.

Why was I teaching at this school?  One of those "American Jewish Organizations," which feigns pluralism, helped me to come to Israel.  Who says that these organizations can't do anything right, at least once in a while.  Apparently, they can.  But, in my case, it was now payback time.

I was told that the middle class Arabs of this town typically went to the type of school where I was teaching.  The wealthy Arabs sent their kids to private schools. (Yes, there ARE wealthy Arabs.)

Two of the teachers at this school were Arabs, and I have to say that they were nicer to me than most of the assimilated, Israeli galuth-ified Jews, teaching their students how Adam and Eve must have "felt," when they were kicked out of the Garden of Eden.  "Was that fair?" the first graders were asked.  God help us with teachers like these in our State schools!

But, I digress....

My relatively high level sixth-grade English class at this school included "Rinah," whose mother was Jewish and father Muslim, her best friend "Elizabeth," an Arab Christian, "Ahmed," a self-described product of an Arab mother and "Palestinian" father, and his best friend "Shlomo."

I could not have taught at a more potentially politically correct school.  Those American Jewish Organizers must have been kvelling over us.

In retrospect, I have to say it was a great learning experience.  Not the least of which was picking up little tidbits, that would never be mentioned in the news or in textbooks, such as how "Rinah's" brother was exempt from IDF service, even though he was Jewish (according to Jewish Law).  Apparently, even the Israeli government was suspicious of the loyalties of the children of mixed marriages.

During this year, the Hebrew month of Kislev and the Muslim month of Ramadan coincided, while December conveniently overlapped the other two.

This was the perfect opportunity for a final writing assignment: Write about a holiday.  I made mention of the calendrical coincidence to my students, and told them that I thought it interesting.

We reviewed the elements of a paragraph, that I would even expect of an average American sixth-grader:
6 Sentences:
1 Introductory sentence
1 Explanatory sentence
3 Detail sentences
1 Concluding sentence
I assumed that my students would write about Hanukkah, Christmas, or Ramadan/Idr Fitr.

I was right.  But, when it came time to grade "Ahmed's" paper, I saw that he had written about Hanukkah, not Ramadan/Idr Fitr, as I had expected.  When I called "Ahmed" up to receive his grade of 10 (A+), I pointed out what was particularly good about his paragraph.  But, then I asked him how he decided to write about Hanukkah, and not Ramadan/Idr Fitr.  He did a "Homer Simpson" by smacking his forehead, and shouting "Doh!"

I reassured him that there was nothing wrong with what he had done.  On the contrary, I emphasized his perfect grade.  I was just curious.  But, he didn't have an answer.  So, I let it go.

No doubt there are those who would identify this incident as a result of "Ahmed's oppression," probably the same people who would also call Hamas and Islamic Jihad suicide bombers, "freedom fighters."

I liked "Ahmed'."  I liked all of my students, Jew, Christian, and Muslim.  Each and every one of them received my care and attention equally.  I did my job, and I even enjoyed it.

...but when "Ahmed's" picks up a rock, and in my experience, "Ahmed's" will, more likely than not, eventually pick up a rock, or something else, "Ahmed" will no longer be my student; he will be a soldier, or an enemy combatant.  Take your pick.

What am I supposed to do?  Reason with him?  Tell him that I was that nice, religious Jew he had ages ago as his English teacher, who praised him and encouraged him?

No.  I don't think so. I'm going to defend myself.  And when then Israeli police comes to arrest me for doing so, as they have done SO many times to Jews already, not only in Yehudah and Shomron (Judea and Samaria), but also in the Negev and in the Galilee, then,...well, I guess I'll just have to burn that bridge when I get to it.

Sure, there are Arabs like "Mahmud," the mechanic who lives in the Shomron, who just wants to support his family.  He often asks his customers who are dual Israeli/U. S. citizens if they can sponsor him and his family so that they can get out.  He, too, sees the dangers of his own "Palestinian Authority," and knows that they have no historical connection to the land of Israel.

I will go a step farther and tell you about "Yassuf."  He and I are members of a support group.  Although he and I live in different cities, when I see him, we are happy to see each other, and even help each other toward the common goal we have being members of this group.

Great.  But, so what?

But, I am not willing to take the chance that the one or possibly the one million Arabs who want to destroy me and my people get let off the hook for the sake of "Mahmud" in the Shomron or "Yassuf" in Tel-Aviv.

You are all familiar with the silly, yuppy expression, "Some of my best friends are Arabs." (...or African-Americans, or nuclear free whales, or radical lesbian separatists, or what have you...)

This post is not about that, not in the least.  However, no one can say that I have never met Arabs, spoken with Arabs, worked with Arabs, taught Arabs, or even liked Arabs.

So, what's the Purim connection?

Esther Chap. 8
11 that the king had granted the Jews that were in every city to gather themselves together, and to stand for their life, to destroy, and to slay, and to cause to perish, all the forces of the people and province that would assault them, their little ones and women, and to take the spoil of them for a prey, . 12 upon one day in all the provinces of king Ahasuerus, namely, upon the thirteenth day of the twelfth month, which is the month Adar. 13 The copy of the writing, to be given out for a decree in every province, was to be published unto all the peoples, and that the Jews should be ready against that day to avenge themselves on their enemies.

Avenge?  How could they avenge something that had not happened yet?  But, something had happened, the preparation to annihilate us was apparently enough for revenge, as opposed to defending ourselves.

Then, before any killing or victory had taken place,...

טז  לַיְּהוּדִים, הָיְתָה אוֹרָה וְשִׂמְחָה, וְשָׂשֹׂן, וִיקָר.

16 The Jews had light and gladness, and joy and honor.

Most of you will recognize this last verse from your Havdalah nusah, said at the conclusion of Shabbath.

We were happy because we were going to kill peopole, who had yet to lift a hand to us?  Happy, yes, but not out of blood thirst, but out of the opportunity to counter the impending Hillul HaShem (desecration of His Name).

On this Purim, we must commit to continue our work in battling the Hillul Hashem, by defending ourselves, and once  again preventing the destruction of the Jewish People.  If that means racial profiling, limiting the service of Arabs in the IDF, and sending spies into Arab communities to keep tabs on their activities, then so be it.

And, so I ask you, "Am I still a racist?"

You Voted For Netanyahu And Got Livni

ערב שבת קודש פר'תצוה/זכור תשע"ג

(Title Credit: Yaad Greenberg)

Remember how those of you who voted for Ariel Sharon, and ended up with Shimon Peres?

Remember how those of you who voted for Bibi Netanyahu, and ended up with Ehud Baraq?

Well, it looks like we are getting another "surprise" almost a month after the elections.
Arutz 7: Livni Will Not be a Part of Next Government
A report in Haaretz said that Netanyahu had made clear to several of his senior staff that no talks were taking place with Tzippy Livni

David Lev, December 27, 2012

Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu tried on Wednesday to limit the damage from news reports that he was planning to set up a coalition with Tzippy Livni as a chief partner. A report in Haaretz said that Netanyahu had made clear to several of his senior staff that no talks were taking place with Livni or other members of her “Hatenua” (“The Movement”) party, and that the chances of her joining the next government with him as Prime Minister were nil.

“Livni managed the negotiations with the Palestinians poorly,” Netanyahu told ministers, the report said. “Her entire stance is wrong and unacceptable to me.” (cont.)
And, now?
YNET: Likud Members: Livni Will Block Rightist Legislation
Tzipporah = "bird;" Livni = from the word for "white"
Ruling party officials slam Netanyahu, say coalition agreement gives Hatnua leader too much power. Habayit Hayehudi: Putting negotiations in hands of woman who was responsible for Gaza disengagement plan make it hard for us to join coalition

Moran Azulay, February 20, 2013

The first coalition deal, which granted Hatnua Chairwoman the justice portfolio and put her in charge of the peace negotiations with the Palestinians, has irked many Likud members, who claim she was given excessive powers in exchange for her willingness to join Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu 's new government.

Knesset members from the ruling party said that should Hatnua also head the Ministerial Committee for Legislation, the centrist party would thwart all 'rightist' initiatives. (cont.)

The Bayit HaYehudi (Jewish Home) Party is one to talk.  Those who voted for Bennett (Jewish Home) got Lapid.   Even some in the Likud are concerned about this.

YNET: Likud: Bennet Will Bring About Leftist Gov't
Stalled coalition negotiations see political finger-pointing gain speed as rightist parties butt heads

Tzvika Brot, February 17, 2013

The cooperation between Habayit Hayehudi Chairman Naftali Bennett and Yesh Atid Chairman Yair Lapid has the Likud up in arms, as officials in the reelected ruling party blamed the former of hindering the coalition talks to the point where it may force the formation of a left-wing government. (cont.)

So, we have already been down this road how many times??

Really, now, I am very surprised that anyone is surprised by this.

Iowa: Blame The Jew!

י"ב לחודש השנים עשר תשע"ג
Matzav.com: Perfidy in Iowa - Again
Rabbi Chaim Goldberger, February 17, 2013

The people of Iowa must be very proud of their Department of Justice this week. Its successful prosecution of film producer and notorious thief Wendy Weiner Runge culminates this week in her incarceration in the Mitchellville women’s prison for high crimes of fraud and conspiracy against the state.

There is only one problem. Runge is not a thief. She committed no act of fraud. She is guilty of no act of conspiracy, and she is not a well-known movie producer. And her only notoriety comes from the treatment she has received in the local media, who decided to paint her as the brains behind a treasury-gouging crime scheme long before she appeared in any court to determine if any of the above assumptions bore any resemblance to the truth...

...Not one of the fraud, conspiracy and theft charges against her was proven, and every one of them was dismissed. Runge is heading to jail over one transgression: She made an amendment to an application form for future film projects, after the deadline for doing so had passed. She had filed the form as a favor to a California filmmaker and was trying, a little late, to correct one error she had made in the application. Tom Wheeler had told her it would be OK for her to make the amendment and, based on that assurance, she did it.

That is the entirety of Runge’s offense.

Where in this great nation is a nonviolent offender with no criminal history who is a married mother of four and a longtime member of a close-knit community sent to prison for up to 10 years for making a clerical adjustment with the approval of the appropriate government commissioner and for which she received no financial gain?

In Iowa, apparently.  (cont.)

Iowa State Flag (Click to enlarge)
Check out the words on the Iowa State flag: "Our liberties we prize, and our rights we will maintain."  Yeah, right!

This is the second railroading of a Jew in the state of Iowa we have seen in recent years.  It high time that the remaining Jews in Iowa pack up and leave.  Then while they are at it, they might as well keep going to their only true homeland, the land of Israel.

Hillel, who brought this story to my attention, also points out that Iowa (איווה) also has the gematria (Hebrew numerological value) of 28, or כח (power).  Power to push Jews around?  Power to motivate them to come to Israel?  I am not sure if there is any connection here, but it's food for thought....

President Obama To Receive Medal Of Di-STINK-tion

תענית אסתר (הוקדם) תשע"ג
Peres To Give Obama Medal Of Distinction
President will honor his American counterpart for standing with Israel ‘in times of crisis’

By Raphael Ahren, February 18, 2013

The STINK seems to bother even Prez Peres.
It is doubtful US President Barack Obama will rack up many tangible policy achievements during his upcoming Middle East trip. But if worse comes to worst, he won’t go home entirely empty-handed: President Shimon Peres on Monday announced that he will present his American counterpart with the Presidential Medal of Distinction during his March stay in Israel. (cont.)
Pres. Barack Hussein Obama
What has President Obama done to deserve this, recently created, prize?

The same thing he did order to be awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 2009,...ABSOLUTELY NOTHING!

Actually, that's not true.  He DID do something.

He has been faithfully serving the anti-Torah, anti-Israel, Erev Rav agenda, and he has been doing so quite well.

Congratulations, Mr. President!

Keep up the good work, and next time you will receive the ultimate prize!

...special participatory distinction in the destruction of the Jewish People and its homeland, presented by the Palestinian Authority.

In the meantime, he should enjoy his medal.  But instead of Medal Of Distinction, it would be more a lot more accurate, if it had been named the Medal Of Di-STINK-tion.

A New Beit Midrash In The Knesset?

י' לחודש השנים עשר תשע"ג
Life In Israel: New Beit Medrash In The Knesset
What do you think of this?

MK Rabbi Shai Peron (Yesh Atid) and MK Dr. Ruth Calderon (Yesh Atid), along with MKs Yoni Chetboun (HaBayit HaYehudi) and MK Elazar Stern (HaTnua), are planning on establishing a Beit Medrash program in the Knesset.

The purpose of the program will be for MKs and Knesset employees to learn some Torah once a week, on Tuesdays, and to have discussions about Judaism.

Every week a different MK will take a turn leading the discussion, teaching a talmudic topic.

According to Kipa, the haredi parties have not yet decided whether to participate or not.

Looks to me to be a good idea...

it brings new meaning to the phrase Ki Mi'Tzion Teitzei Torah - From Zion will come forth Torah. This would be the heart of Zion and specifically Zionism that would be teaching Torah...
Esser Agaroth (2¢):
A good idea?  From Zion will come forth Torah?

It depends on what you mean by Torah. If MK Calderon and MK Stern are involved, I wouldn't be so sure that what they mean by Torah is what I mean by Torah.

Let's take a look at who's involved...

Rb. Shai Peron - Mamlakhti (undying State loyalist) credentials include: Shavei Hevron Yeshivah, Herzog College, the Israeli Democratic Institute, the Dovrat Education Commission, and membership in Tzohar.

Yoni Chetboun - I don't know enough about this MK to comment.  So, for now, let it be known that I'll be keeping a close eye on him.

Maj. Gen. Elazar Stern (ret.) - collaborator in throwing Jews out of their homes seven and a half years ago, and handing over their lands to Hamasastan, lead destroyer of the IDF Hesder Yeshiva program.

...and last, but certainly not least....

Dr. Ruth Calderon - "Secular Talmud Scholar" (Translation: Let's manipulate the words of HaZa"L in order to justify doing what she wants.), co-founder of Elul, the first Israeli, secular, pluralistic and egalitarian Bet Midrash.

"...secular, pluralistic and egalitarian?"

That pretty much says it all, since none of these three concepts are in the least bit related to the Torah.

Yeah, this'll be some "Beit Midrash," alright!

The Yesh Atid Party: The Lies And Manipulation Begin

In freshman MK Ruth Calderon's (Yesh Atid) inaugural speech in the K'nesseth, she stated,....
"The Torah is not  the possession of one or another factor. It was given to all of us. Nobody has taken from us the Torah and rabbinic literature. We gave them over because we saw that there is another more important task of building Zionism, and now we must take back for ourselves what is ours... My desire is to bring about the situation that the Torah will be the possession of all of Israel. All of Israel's youth should take a portion of the burden - also in Torah learning and also in military service."
(Tip Credit: Life In Israel)
"Zionism cannot be separated from its source,...The Torah.  When it is, it is no longer Zionism.
-Esser Agaroth

Apparently, she also quoted Talmud, yet another example of how they intend to manipulate the Torah into justifying doing whatever the heck they want, and then calling it Jewish.

This is nothing new, of course.  The so-called "Reform Movement" has been doing this since its inception.  Its strategies have changed over the years, everything from denying the full authority of the Oral Torah and removing kippoth (male head coverings) to talking about "spirituality," and putting their kippoth back on.  Whatever they think will work, I suppose.

Speaking of the "Reform Movement," MK Calderon's Yesh Atid fearless leader, Yair Lapid has already stated that he intends to push for "civil marriage," whatever the heck THAT is, as well as acceptance so-called "Reform Judaism," even though there is no such thing.  (Did you get that?)

Yet, no doubt, this kind of rhetoric is music to the ears of so-called "Major American Jewish Organizations."  (Then, just how "Jewish" could these "Major American Jewish Organizations" be?)
Arutz 7: Lapid: I’ll Push Civil Marriage, Reform Judaism
Yair Lapid says his agenda includes civil marriage, dialog with Abbas, and bringing reform Judaism to Israel.
Maayana Miskin, February 12, 2013

Yair Lapid, head of the Yesh Atid party, spoke Tuesday at the Conference of Presidents of Major American Jewish Organizations, held at the Inbal Hotel in Jerusalem. Lapid declared that his political agenda includes making the Reform and Conservative movements – both popular in the United States – equal to orthodox Judaism in terms of state support.

MK Yair "We'll do what we want!" Lapid
“I want to do everything in my power to ensure the equality between all movements of Judaism in the state of Israel, Orthodox, Conservative, or Reform,” he declared. “In conversions, in budgets, in the eyes of the law. No one can claim ownership over the Jewish God.”
Translation:  He would like to decide what God wants, instead of God Himself.  Oh, and Yair?  There's only One God, not a Jewish God along side others.

Did you catch that buzz word "conversions?"  Translation: Let's fill Israel with non-Jews who will vote for us, just like the Left has already tried by recruiting non-Jewish Ukrainians to make their homes in Israel, and is still trying to grant special status to the children of foreign workers from the Philappines, India, and other countries.

With all of the sham "conversions," just exactly how many of these so-called "Reform" are even really Jewish?
“Small, old, petty politics cannot determine something that is eternal as is the Jewish identity, this is just wrong,” he added.
You got it wrong, Yair.  This isn't about politics.  This about the Torah, the guide for how all Jews are supposed to live,...even you!
The “complete dominance of orthodox rabbis” over marriage “is an insult,” Lapid argued.
"The 'complete dominance of orthodox rabbis' over marriage" has been helping to preserve the Jewish People.  And besides, this "dominance," as Lapid calls it, is unfortunately losing ground, as I write this.

These "movements" have already been sneaking into the Israeli, public education system, and often present as legitimate and equal "denominations," just as Christianity has.  Tal"i is one of those programs, a conduit for this deception of our youth, and their parents.

Newspapers like Ha'Aretz and the Jerusalem Post have been presenting the "movements" as such.

Why is it that NOBODY wants to talk about the Elephant in the room?

Reform "Judaism" isn't Judaism.

Thus, Yesh Atid Party MK's Yair Lapid and Ruth Calderon are pushing Israel away from Judaism.

So, what does it mean that the Jewish Home/National "Religious" Party has teamed up with them?

Something worth investigating, don't you think?

You Voted For Bennett And Got Lapid (Updated)

י' לחודש השנים עשר תשע"ג

Remember how those of you who voted for Ariel Sharon, and ended up with Shimon Peres?

Remember how those of you who voted for Bibi Netanyahu, and ended up with Ehud Baraq?

Well, it looks like we are about to witness another [traditional Israeli] switcheroo in the process...
Bennett and Lapid create 31-seat bloc, agree to join the coalition or be left out together.

Maayana Miskin, February 14, 2013

MK Naftali "Goofy" Bennett
Naftali Bennett and Yair Lapid have created a pact between their two parties, agreeing that Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu will have either both of their parties in his coalition or neither, political sources have told Arutz Sheva.

Together, the two have 31 seats. Netanyahu’s chances of putting together a coalition without either party are not considered good.
 MK Yair "Whiny" Lapid

Bennett and Lapid banded together due to a shared interest in preventing Netanyahu from creating a coalition that excluded one of them in favor of hareidi-religious or left-wing parties. (cont.)
Wait a minute.  Left-wing parties?  Then what does that make the Yesh Atid Party?  Center-Anti-Torah, as opposed to Left-wing-Anti-Torah?

How appropriate that this shiddukh was announced on the pagan holiday of Valentine''s Day!

To those of you who voted for Bennett, it looks like you're gonna get Lapid, as part of a package deal.

Happy now?

Update:

Baruch Marzel (Otzmah leYisrael) just posted this mock up of a poster which he says should have been posted before the elections.

"To our voters, Unfortunately, a mistake was made in the posters we put out before the elections.  Here is the correct poster:  Strong Together, Vote for Bennett."

Gee, I Guess I'm A Racist.

ח' לחודש השנים עשר תשע"ג

Last summer, I was in the shuq (open market), looking for fresh spinach, which I had not been able to find in years.  I asked one of fruit and vegetable sellers I recognized if he had any.  He said no, and pointed to another part of the shuq where I should look.  I asked if he knew of any Jewish vendors who sold spinach.  He said no, that would have to ask the "Amaleqim."

Although I do not know that I agree with his assessment that Arabs have the din (status) of Amaleq, it is interesting to note that on this Shabbath, Shabbath Zakhor, the Shabbath preceding Purim, we will be including the following in our reading of the Torah:

Deuteronomy 25
17 Remember what Amaleq did to you by the way as you came out of Egypt;  18 how he met you by the way, and struck those of you trailing, all who were weak in your rear, when you were faint and weary; and he did not God. 19 Therefore it will be, when the LORD your God has given you rest from all of your surrounding enemies, in the land which the LORD your God gives to you for an inheritance to possess it, that you will blot out the memory of Amaleq from under heaven; you shall not forget.

One evening, I was in the center of town with some friends.  All of a sudden, we saw a Jewish kid chasing after an Arab kid.  Their path took them past a policewoman.  Someone asked what was happening.  The officer casually suggested that the Arab had probably stolen something, and the Jew was chasing after him to get it back.  I sarcastically suggested that was a racist comment.  The policewoman stared me down, and made "pppfff" sound.

One day, I was in the post office for work.  Two of the regular clerks with whom usually I work were talking.  "Michal," a Moroccan Jew, was telling "Yoni," a Kurdish Jew, about the trouble the Arabs were causing in her neighborhood of Pisgat Ze'ev"Yoni's" response was, "What do you expect?"

I recently found out that "Michal" was an Arabic speaker, seeing that she was assisting a customer in Arabic.  And, by the way, she was friendly, and did not make any faces or comments after this customer left.  I commented to her that I didn't know she spoke Arabic.  She smiled and said, "Well, now you know."

I said I thought that was cool, and that we were all going to have to speak Arabic eventually.  She just nodded and shrugged her shoulders.

It is also interesting to note that none of the Jews mentioned above were Ashkenazim (of European decent).  They were from North Africa or Iraq.

In other words, they know better.

A Beitar Jerusalem soccer team fan was recently quoted as saying, "I'm not a racist.  I just don't like Arabs."

I don't dislike Arabs, though.  I just hate enemies of the Jewish People.

I'm not a racist.  Neither are any of the Jews mentioned above.

We're realists.

Haveil Havalim #399 Is Up!

ח' לחודש השנים עשר תשע"ג

This week's edition of the Jewish and Israel-related Haveil Havalim Blog Carnival is being hosted by Batya at Shiloh Musings.

It's the Pre-Purim Havel Havelim #399 (Could it Really be #399?) Edition.

Has Arutz 7 Gone "Reform?"

ח' לחודש השנים עשר תשע"ג

"Ah, Jerusalem!" animated banner ad on Arutz 7 (screen shot)
I received the following tip from blog commenter Shy Guy:
...I thought you [Esser Agaroth] might find it interesting but sad that INN/Arutz 7 has been running ads (shocking pink) for a musical, "Ah, Jerusalem", which is on stage at the Beit Shmuel Theater in Jerusalem.

Besides the Kol Isha aspect, the theater is run by the Reform movement's Hebrew Union College and they profit from ticket proceeds. Is Arutz 7 OK with all this? Did you [Arutz 7] get Rav Melamed's (or any other rav's) approval for such advertising income?
Apparently, Arutz 7/Israel National News was contacted at least twice, pointing out the problems with this ad.  To the best of my knowledge, replies to these attempted contacts have not been issued.

Was the acceptance of this ad just an honest mistake by Arutz 7, and did the station not actually mean to accept this ad, promoting a "Reform" movement-supporting event?

If it was not a mistake, then what will be the next line to be crossed by this alternative-gone mainstream internet radio station?

It is interesting to note that this is the same radio station which refuses even to put "rabbi" in quotation marks when referring to "Reform" spiritual leaders, claiming that "rabbi" [without quotes] is used in its reports for "clarity."

So, what are Arutz 7's listeners and readers supposed to infer from this?

Please contact Arutz 7 about this.  Perhaps if the station receives enough inquiries, it will have no choice but to respond,...or at least pull the ad, and pretend that never existed. (A-hem!)

Personally, though, I will not be holding my breath.

Top Ten POSSIBLE Reasons Pope Benedict XVI Resigned

מוצש"ק פר' תרומה תשע"ג

Here are the Top Ten POSSIBLE reasons Pope Benedict XVI (Joseph Aloisius Ratzinger) resigned, emphasis on the word "POSSIBLE."  This is ONLY speculation.  I am not in possession of ANY evidence, supporting ANY of the reasons listed.

10. His failure to move the Catholic Church in the direction he wanted, fast enough, was frustrating him.

Poop Benedict XVI
9. His failure to recruit more priests and nuns was frustrating him.

8. His failure to grab more and more land in Israel for the Vatican was frustrating him.

From South Park Se10 Ep11 "Hell On Earth 2006"
7. It was becoming increasingly difficult to keep his pedophile priests under control, and that was overwhelming him.

6. It was becoming increasing difficult to recruit priests into becoming pedophiles, and that was frustrating him.

Ratzinger = Rat Singer
5. His resignation was part of a deal to cover up his involvement in a scandal,...other that pedophilia.

4. He was threatened, and forced to resign, in a power play by another aging cardinal.

3. He was pushed out, in order to put in a politically-correct pope, who would attract more followers.

2. He was offered a higher position of authority in the Illuminati hierarchy he could not refuse.
And the number one POSSIBLE reason Poop Benedict XVI resigned is...
1. He knows that Vatican security will soon fail, and he will no longer be safe from the common people's exacting of justice.

Beware Of Molotov Cocktails!

ד' לחודש השנים עשר תשע"ג

Arutz 7: New Samaria Road Sign Warns of Rock, Firebomb Attacks
Drivers through roads in Samaria are likely to come across a new road sign that they are unlikely to see on roads in other parts of Israel.

David Lev, February 11, 2013

"Caution Molotov Coctails!"
Drivers through roads in Samaria are likely to come across a new road sign, one that they are unlikely to see on roads in other parts of Israel. The sign, designed by the Samaria Residents Council, warns drivers that they are in danger of being attacked by rocks and firebombs.
The sign has a drawing of an individual preparing to throw rocks, apparently at a passing vehicle. The sign's text says “Warning, drive quickly, Arabs throw firebombs in this area.” The sign, says the Council, points out the immediate dangers faced by drivers in Samaria. (cont.)
I actually think that these signs are a good idea, one of the few originating from any of the "councils" within Yehudah and Shomron (Judea and Samaria).

Not only is this practical, warning drivers of the reality of the roads, it has the potential to raise awareness among the average Israelis on the street, about the reality of our "neighbors," especial through the sign's inevitable controversy.

I wonder when someone will start calling these signs racist.

Someone is bound to.

YNET: United Torah Judaism MK: Haredi Soldiers Will Make IDF Orthodox

Moran Azulay, February 11, 2013

United Torah Judaism MK Menachem Eliezer Moses said after Yesh Atid's Yair Lapid's speech in the Knesset: "I want to let you know what very few people do: Even the Nahal Haredi is mostly financed by a rich Los Angeles Jews and not by the IDF." Moses added: "If you want to enlist them (haredim) to non-haredi units, I tell you – these yeshiva students will draw your children into Jewish orthodox practices; you will not recognize them when they return from service."
MK Lapid apparently being pulled away from Rabbi MK Mozes, who does not look amused
I am certain that Rabbi MK Mozes did not plagiarize me.  Yet, I have been saying this for years!

The Left only wants to enlist Haredim for the purposes of indoctrinating them into State loyalism.  It has NO interest in having IDF units which inspire curiosity in its children about God and His Torah, about prayer, Shabbath, and Tefillin, or any other authentic Jewish observances.

I am disappointed, though, that Rabbi MK Moses made Haredi enlistment sound like a threat.

I can understand this strategy, but I also think that it is too bad that he does not see this as an opportunity for qiruv, bringing Jews back to Torah, like I wrote here a year ago in The Top Ten Reasons To Join The IDF.

Haredi rabbis need to face the inevitability of increased Haredi enlistment.  If not that, then they must at least face the inevitability that the Haredi community will need the training that the IDF has to offer.

I do not subscribe to the belief that Mashi'ah will be fighting the battles for our physical and spiritual freedoms alone.  Whether needing to defend themselves against Erev Rav, or against invading armies, where else are they going to get free training, and be able to do qiruv at the same time?

"Sharing the burden" is not even the half of it.

Yigal Amir And The President's Nose

ג' לחודש השנים עשר תשע"ג

In Israeli President Shimon Peres's own words...

"God forbid.  Yigal Amir's transgression will not be erased as long as there is breath in my nose.  He needs to rot in prison."

Hmm...

Israeli President Shimon Peres appearing to be checking if there is still breath in his nose
Does that mean when breath is no longer in the Present's nose, that Yigal Amir will be released?

What a smarmy comment!

Even the daughter of Yitzchak Rabin, Yigal Amir's supposed victim, former MK Dalia Rabin-Philosof does not believe that we know the full story behind her father's death.  If fact, the majority of Israelis agree with her.

Check out Barry Chamish's book Who Killed Yitzchak Rabin?, and you'll see just how many holes in this case there truly are.

The Death Of The IDF Hesder Yeshivas

ב' לחודש השנים עשר תשע"ג

The following report signals the beginning, or rather the middle, of the end of the Israel Defense Forces [IDF] Yeshivah study program, known as "Hesder."
Arutz 7: Report: Hesder First Year Students Being Called Up
In an unprecedented move, the IDF has begun drafting those students in their first year of yeshiva who have not yet registered in hesder.

David Lev, February 10, 2013

In an unprecedented move, the IDF has begun drafting students in their first year of Hesder yeshiva who are not yet registered within the framework of the Hesder system, Arutz Sheva has been informed. As a result, thousands of 18 year olds currently in Hesder yeshivot may be required to serve a full three year stint in the army, as part of the general soldier units, as opposed to the Hesder units they expected to serve in - unless they register immediately. (cont.)

I am not in the least bit surprised, and neither should anyone else be.

Hesder seems to have been the bane of the IDF, at least since many Hesder Roshei Yeshivoth signed onto a joint statement instructing students/soldiers to refused orders to throw Jews out of their homes in Azza (Gaza)

Meanwhile the mamlakhti (undying State loyalist) rabbis were instructing their students to confuse Torah with State law.  Those of these rabbis who found the so-called "Disengagement" from Azza particularly distasteful suggested that soldiers feign illness, faint, or arrange for transfers, in order to avoid participating, as if that was a practical and intellectually honest solution.  It was not.

Some of these "rabbis" instructed their students, in no uncertain terms, not to violate orders from their IDF commanders.

The Hesder rabbis put their jobs and yeshivas on the line, for the sake of what was right, placing Torah over anti-Torah laws of the State of Israel.

MK Elazar Stern
Now, it seems it is payback time.  And it looks like it might get ugly.

I suspect that this stems from the legacy of former Maj. Gen., now MK, Elazar Stern.  As head of IDF personnel, the Hesder Yeshivah program appeared to be his least favorite, and strove for "integration" of its soldiers into regular units, in other words units not in the least bit connected with Torah,...save for perhaps the access to kosher food, and the minimal periods of time allotted for prayer.

My guess is that this not the only legacy he will be leaving us.  Plus, now, he is one of the decision makers.  Having shown his undying loyalty to the State, and to following orders, he will no doubt have the ears of his fellow MK's.

Stay tuned

I find also it not in the least bit surprising that the ultra-mamlakhti pre-IDF Mekhinah program has been left untouch, no doubt for doing the State's bidding of brain-washing indoctrinating the State's religious (and secular) young adults into "just following orders."

British Jews, Can't You Take A Hint?

ב' לחודש השנים עשר תשע"ג
Arutz 7: Bin Laden's Muslim Cleric Unwelcome Neighbor to London Jews
Osama Bin Laden’s former spiritual adviser has become an unwelcome neighbor among Orthodox Jews in a London neighborhood.

Chana Ya'ar, February 11, 2013

Osama Bin Laden’s former spiritual adviser and preacher of hate has become an unwelcome neighbor among Orthodox Jews in a London neighborhood as secular protests against his presence make life difficult on the Sabbath.
Interesting that Shabbath is the motivation behind the protests, and not fear of violence, if not death (חו"ח) by the hands of this terror-monger's "fans."  But, love for Shabbath and misswoth, in general, are certainly as good as any motivations.
Jordanian terrorist suspect Abu Qatada, born Omar Mahmoud Othman,is a radical Islamic cleric who has also been called 'the spiritual guide to Al Qaeda.' He lives about half a mile from a United Synagogue congregation, according to a report by The Jewish Chronicle.

A gag order has prevented the Jewish publication from revealing the exact location of the terror suspect’s home, and the precise identity of the synagogue.
However, the newspaper noted that the man once known as “Osama Bin Laden’s right-hand man in Europe,” recently relocated with the approval of the British Home Office to a street that is home to a number of Jewish families.
The move came following numerous protests outside the terror suspect’s previous residence in northwest London.
So, basically, these protestors won their battle, and the Jews get punished.  Typical.
The Muslim cleric was released on bail last November to house arrest with a 16-hour curfew, an electronic tag around his ankle, a ban on using the Internet, and a restriction against contacting a list of specific individuals. He recently won the latest round in a long-running battle against deportation back to Jordan, although the government has said it will appeal the decision...
I see it's a rough life being a supporter of terror.  I mean, seriously....
...Over the past ten years, Abu Qatada has won each appeal against deportation, claiming he will be tortured in Jordan, were he to stand trial on terror charges there.
Poor baby.  Boo-hoo!
Married with four children, the 52-year-old cleric lives in a 3-bedroom home in the Harrow area of London, according to The Daily Mail. Several media reports noted the government lied to the family that owned the house into which Abu Qatada’s family was moved. The real estate agent who closed the deal told the owners the prospective tenant was an American company that wished to rent a place for its employees.
The British government lied?  I'm shocked!  No, not really.
An unnamed minister was quoted by The Daily Mail as saying Abu Qatada has received more than half a million British pounds Sterling in legal aid “to help in his fight against extradition from the UK.”
Well, as we have learned time and time again, supporting terrorism pays, in this case a half a million pounds.

Whether it is love of Shabbath, or love of protecting your families lives, how many terrorists or supporter of terrorism and the annihilation of the Jewish People have to move into your neighborhoods in Great Britain, before you feel the discomfort Jews are supposed to feel while in Galuth (Exile)?

It's not where you belong.  You belong in Israel.

When will British Jews take the hint?

A Blog That Doesn't Suck

ראש חודש השנים עשר תשע"ג

Hey, check out this video on creating "A Blog That Doesn't Suck," by my buddy Eric Rosenberg.  Eric is a multi-talented consultant, writer, speaker, and DJ, as well as the founding force behind The Israel Situation.

I have been trying hard to take his suggestions, such as posting consistent times and posting quality content, instead of just filler.

But, I can't help it!  I admit it!  I love watching those rises in hits!

So, what I have been doing is trying to post an average of once per day, mostly so that I can into a routine of posting regularly.  Sometimes I post a lengthy, philosophical piece, and other times I post my take on the news and current events.

I mostly post on serious matters, but try to take a break from it all by posting on literature, music, or funny things which happen during a typical day in the life of an Israeli.

So, maybe I still need to work on consistency,...a lot more.

In the mean time, I am posting this to seem how many hits I can exploit get out of Eric's video.

Exploitation was not one of his suggestions.

It was my own idea. (wink)

Seriously, though, check out Eric's material!  He makes some great suggestions!

MK Elazar Stern? Oy!

ראש חודש השנים עשר תשע"ג

Wait a minute!  How did this guy sneak in, and how could I have missed it??

Former Maj. Gen. Elazar Stern is now Member of Knesset Elazar Stern!

He is part of Tzippy Livni's break-off from the Kadima Party, the party of which she lost the leadership.  He serves with fellow "stars" of Israeli politics:
  • FAILED Labor Party Leader Amran Mitzna
  • FAILED Labor Party Leader and former Union Leader Amir Peretz
AKA: "Let's shut down the country and have a tantrum"
  • Musical chairs party member and minister Meir Sheetrit
And who is the Elazar Stern of whom I speak?

From Elazar Stern's Wikipedia page:
MK Elazar Stern
As head of Human Resources Stern has overseen a program to convert non-Jewish IDF troops to Judaism. He has also led the integration of hesder units, homogeneous units of Orthodox male soldiers combining yeshiva studies with military service, into mainstream units. While criticised by some religious Israelis that the action was meant only to prevent insubordination of religious troops during the Gaza pullout, Stern maintains that it is better for the troops.

On October 14, 2005, Stern and his family were assaulted in Jerusalem while praying at the Western Wall in protest of his leading role in expelling Jews from the Gaza strip.
Esser Agaroth (2¢) Analysis:
Convert non-Jewish IDF troops - These IDF conversions have been nick-named גיור לייט  (conversion - light),...in other words, "just one calorie."  You do the math.

I am sure that there are good and true converts resulting from this program, but are all of them?

Integration of Hesder units - Translation?  Destruction of the hesder military yeshiva system. There was criticism, for Gaza ease, and for other reasons

Better for the troops - Yeah, better for the IDF leadership to maintain control of the troops,..."for their own good," of course.  Blah, Blah, Blah.

Assaulted...while praying at the Western Wall - A sometime guest of Rosh Yehsivah Aharon Binah of Netiv Aryeh in Jerusalem's Old City, Maj. Gen.Stern would pray at the Western Wall.  The incident mentioned above included Stern's being cursed out by a well-respected Hakham (Torah scholar) one who would certainly not behave in such a manner without good reason.  This Hakham's views and opinion of Stern were probably discounted, due to his lack of undying State loyalty.  After all, the mamlakhim (undying religious State loyalists) refuse to see any conflicts between the Torah and the State's laws.

Hakhamim, such as the one above, who hold Torah in higher regard that the State, are considered dangerous by the likes of Elazar Stern.

The fact that Stern is a member of Livni's left of center/left wing HaT'nu'a Party ("The Movement") makes perfect sense to me.

The fact that he wears a kippah does not.

*********

You can read more about former Maj. Gen., current MK Elazar Stern in the extensive post I wrote five years ago, I'm So Sick Of This Guy!

Don't know who Aharon Binah is?  Read about him here in the post I wrote about him six years ago, What The Hell Was He Thinking?!

The Yesh Atid Party: The Idiocy Begins

ל' להאחד עשר תשע"ג
Arutz 7: Yesh Atid MK Proposes Arab-Friendly National Anthem

February 10, 2013

Yesh Atid MK Ruth Calderon caused controversy Sunday with a suggestion that Israel solve the problem of Arab MKs’ disinclination to hear the national anthem by changing the anthem. “I was very sorry to hear that the Arab Members of Knesset left before ‘Hatikva’ was sung,” she wrote on her Facebook page.

“Does someone know of a way to alter the words so that they will include all citizens of Israel?” she asked. The anthem’s current words speak of the “Jewish spirit” and the historic Jewish longing to return to the land of Israel.

(Tip Credit: Jews News)
Arab appeasement?  Is that strategy really STILL around?  Are we still really that naive, stupid, or both?

Are we really that desperate for approval from a peoples that want to see the end of the Jewish Homeland?  Both Arabs AND many of those in the "international community" want to see the end of Israel as a Jewish Homeland, physically, spiritually, or both.

We already knew that the Left was interested in destroying any remaining Jewish character of Israel.  "Post-Zionist" extraordinaire, former MK Yossi Beilin (Meretz-Yachad) has spoken about no longer needing a Jewish State.  That pretty much says it all, and is much more straightforward than euphemisms like "democratic" and "multicultural."

Yesh Atid Party Leader Yair Lapid

Apparently, Yesh Atid Party Leader Yair Lapid has yet to counsel his MK's as to how, and how not, to present themselves in public.

Either that, or maybe we are now seeing even more of his nascent party's true colors showing through.

Probably both.

I wonder if MK Calderon will turn out to be the Avraham Poraz of the, now seemingly reincarnated, Shinu'i Party of Lapid's father, the late Yosef "Tommy" Lapid.

MK Avraham Poraz was known for his off the wall statements, such as "There are no poor people in Jerusalem."

MK Calderon is certainly off to a good start.

Which Soccer Fans Are Racist?

מוצש"ק פר' משפטים תשע"ג

I saw this video, posted by the news site 0404.co.il.  It shows Yishma'eli soccer fans from Um al-Fahm shouting epitaphs.  The description below suggests that this video is a good response to accusations that soccer fans from Jerusalem are racist.

Personally, I do not believe that the soccer fans from Jerusalem need any defending.  I have posted this video to show the blatant double standards applied among different groups of "Israeli citizens."

"With spirit, with blood, we will redeem Aqsa!"*

(*referring to the Al-aqsa Mosque on Har HaBayith - the Temple Mount)

...what the riff-raff from Um al-Fahm roared at Teddy [Stadium].  In the association (Beitar Yerushalayim) they do not understand Arabic, and so do not bring them to justice over their calling for the murder of Jews just because they control Har HaBayith the place of the Temple.

Not having enough Arabic speakers sounds like a pretty lame excuse to me.  I doubt that the Israeli police would even try to use that one.  I don't know.  Maybe they would.  I have yet to hear of any investigation into this event opening up.

I have never been to Teddy Stadium.  It is hard for me to fathom that they would not have any Arabic speaking employees around.  But, if they don't, then does that mean that they are afraid to?  If they do, then none of them have come forward to report this crime.

I always thought that there was a law in Israel against "incitement to murder."

But, what do I know?

I'm just a Jew.
Arutz 7: Commissioner To Jerusalem Police: Zero Tolerance For Racism
February 9, 2013
Police Commissioner Rabbi Nitsav Yohanan Danino ordered the Jerusalem District Police Commander, Major General Yossi Pariente, to enact a zero tolerance policy towards racism.

Following an incident involving the Beitar Jerusalem football team, where three fans were arrested for screaming racist chants and holding racist signs, the commissioner said he plans to invite the heads of the Football Association and the State Prosecutor's Office to examine and formulate methods for handling racist fans in the league.

Gee.  I guess Arabs really are second class citizens, as not all laws apply to them.

More Bad News From France

כ"ח לחודש האחד עשר תשע"ג
Arutz 7: Student Nearly Stabbed at Toulouse Jewish Day School
Woman arrested after trying to stab a student at the Otzar HaTorah school in Toulouse, where a terror attack killed four last year.

Elad Benari, February 7, 2013

A woman was arrested on Tuesday after trying to stab a student at the Ohr HaTorah Jewish day school in Toulouse, France.

The school was the target of a terror attack last year which left four people dead, including a rabbi and three students. It was known at the time as the Otzar HaTorah school, but has since changed its name. (cont.)
Less than two weeks after the above mentioned terror attack, a 12-year-old boy was beaten outside the same Toulouse Jewish day school.

This comes on the same day that French Members of the European Parliament reported to be "reluctant to countenance such a move [to designate Hizbollah as a terrorist organization], there is little prospect of achieving the consensus required for a change of policy in the 27-member EU."

Will there be any French rabbis who continue to tell Jews to stay?  Will there be any who continue to discourage aliyah (Jewish immigration to Israel)?

Let us hope not.  And if they do, then may our brothers and sisters in France wake up, and know not to listen to them.
