אפתח בשתי קביעות שמנוגדות למסרים שהישראלים מקבלים ביומיים האחרונים מהממשלה. האחת, עסקת החטופים שמציע חמאס לא רחוקה מההצעה שאושרה על-ידי ישראל. יש פערים, אבל בשלב הזה לא הם העיקר. החדשה העיקרית היא שיש עסקה: קונקרטית, מפורטת, ברורה. כך מבין את המצב כל העולם, מוושינגטון עד עזה. אילו היה מדובר בעסקה לרכישת דירה היינו אומרים: זיכרון הדברים כבר נכתב. עכשיו נישא וניתן על הפרטים.

לא משנה אם יש בידינו הפרטים המדויקים של העיסקה הזו. ולא משנה אם בני הערובה שעדיין בידי חמאס ישתחררו מחר. חמאס ימשיך לנסות להשמיד את עם ישראל מפני עולם. עוד כמה פעמים אנחנו צריכים לעבור את אותו המצב עד שאנחנו נבין ונקבל את זה?

איך אנו אמורים לדעת שאנו פשוט ממשיכים לעשות אותו הדבר פעם אחר פעם ומצפים לתוצאות שונות?

א׳ חמאס אומר שרוצים להשמיד אותנו.
ב׳ חמאס עדיין מסרב להכיר את מדינת ישראל.
ג׳ תראו את מפת החלום שלהם שבתוך סמל חמאס. הם רוצים את עזה וגם יהודה ושומרון כולל ירושלים וגם באר שבע, חיפה, וכן תל-אביב.

אולי כשתת-אלוף דניאל הגרי טוען "עזה היא אחת מזירות הלחימה הקשות בעולם" ו"גם אחרי רפיח יהיה טרור" הוא פשוט מתרץ את הכשלון. אבל כן נכון שאחד מקורות הקושי שלנו הוא הלחץ על ידי ארה״ב. וחמאס יודע את זה.

No more than a few minutes had passed Monday night after Hamas' announcement that it would accept the Egyptian proposal for a cease-fire, and the celebrations had already begun in the streets of Rafah by Gazans who assumed that this would spare them a close encounter with IDF forces. This is understandable. Those celebrating on the Israeli side, however, who rushed to assume that the Hamas announcement obliges Israel to postpone the entry into Rafah and immediately agree to a cease-fire for several weeks is less understandable. It doesn't matter if we have the exact details of this deal. And it doesn't matter if the hostages still with Hamas are be released tomorrow. Hamas will continue to try to wipe Israel out from the face of the earth. How many more times do we have to go through this until we realize that this is not going to change?

How do we know that Hamas will always want to destroy us?

1. Hamas says so.
2. Hamas still refuses to recognize the State of Israel.
3. Look at their dream map of a made-up state of Palestine, embedded within Hamas's symbol. They do not just want Gaza. They do not just want Judea and Samaria, including Jerusalem. They want Be'er Sheva, Haifa, aand Tel Aviv.

Maybe when Major General Daniel Gerry claims "Gaza is one of the world's most difficult fighting arenas" and "even after Rafah will be terror" he is just making excuses for the failure. But it is true that one of our difficulties is the pressure from the US. And Hamas knows it.

Since when does the U. S. give a damn about the civilian casualties of their wars? Last time that the U. S. was attacked on its own lands was in 2001. Here in Israel, we are constantly being attacked. This is often due the U. S. and others pressuring us not to finish the job that needs to be done, once and for all. 

This is just another example of the usual United States' double standards. 

President Joe Biden's supporters are concerned about Hamas supporters protesting in the U. S., and their supporters. At the same time, he is trying to convince America Jews that he is on Israel's side, and against terrorist organizations. Biden needs everyone's votes in the upcoming elections.

And what about Hezbollah?
