עשר אגורות (2¢):
אני מקווה שח"כ דן אילוז לא מתעלם מכתבה זו כי הוא חושב שהיא סתם הערות שליליות מצד חבר הליכוד מאוכזב – מסוג הדברים שאנשיו הנחו אותו להתעלם מהם. אני כבר לא חבר הליכוד ואז זה לא מה שקורה כאן.

בואו נבחן לאן פניו של ח"כ אילוז מועדות, ולמה. לאחר מכן נחזור את המסלול המקצועי בפוליטיקה שלו עד כה, ונסיים בסוגיה שטרם באה על פתרונה מעברו.

מפלגת ישראל ביתנו
דן אילוז בוויקיפדיה... כן, אני יודע, אבל מדי פעם באתר זה סיכומים סבירים. ואני רושם את הפרטים החסרים.

ביולי 2026 הודיע אילוז כי הוא פורש ממפלגת הליכוד ולא יתמודד בפריימריז. לדבריו אחרי טבח השבעה באוקטובר הליכוד עושה הכל כדי להתחמק מאחריות. עוד טען כי המפלגה נחטפה על ידי קבוצות אינטרסים ואימצה אג'נדות שאינן מייצגות את הימין הממלכתי והליברלי, וכי לא יוכל לקרוא לציבור להצביע למפלגה שהוא עצמו לא יכול להצביע לה.

ב-5 באוגוסט 2026 הצטרף למפלגת "ישראל ביתנו" והוא צפוי לקבל מקום ברשימתה לכנסת העשרים ושש. ב-11 באוגוסט התפטר מהכנסת.

באופן אירוני חרדי מילא את מוקמו.

[שבתאי קטש] הוא נכנס לכנסת ב-13 באוגוסט 2026, בשלהי כהונתה, בעקבות התפטרותו של דן אילוז שהצטרף למפלגת ישראל ביתנו, והפך לחבר הכנסת החרדי הראשון בתולדות המפלגה.

אביגדור ליברמן – מייסד המפלגה והעומד בראשה – תלוי בתמיכה של גוים. נקודה.

כדאי לו לעשות כל מה שנדרש כדי לאפשר לגוים ממדינות ברית המועצות לשעבר בעלי אזרחות ישראלית להכנס לארץ. ישראל קולטת "פליטים" אוקראינים שמחפשים מזג אוויר טוב יותר מזה של פולין ושאר אירופה. אני ראיתי כמה מבתים שלהם בנהריה, במרחק של רק דקות הליכה מהחוף. אני מניח שהרבה מהם מאוקראינה אכן פליטים, אך בוודאי לא כולם.

חשבתי שגברים בגיל מסוים באוקראינה מחויבים בגיוס לצבא? אז נראה שאםלמי יש פרוטקציה, החוק הזה לא נוגע בו.

ואז הנה ליברמן, שהעז להציע – באופן זמני – לאפשר עלייה למי שיש לו סבא-רבא יהודי אחד במקום סב כפי שקובע "חוק השבות" ההרסני עצמי שלנו. למרבה המזל, ההצעה הזו לא עברה.

זו הייתה סכנה שנמנעה, בעודנו ממשיכים להתמודד עם מסתננים מאפריקה ועם עובדים זרים מאפריקה ומאסיה המביאים לעולם "תינוקות-עוגן" (תינוקות שנולדו בארץ שנותנות להוריהם חניה). השמאלנים מקבלים אותם בברכה כי הם זקוקים לקולותיהם של אזרחים עתידים אפשריים אלה, כיוון שהם עצמם אינם מולידים מספיק ילדים, כלומר מצביעים עתידיים.

אני מוכן להעניק לחבר הכנסת דן אילוז את ההנחה שהוא פועל בתום לב, ושמעולם לא היה תומך בשינוי כזה בחוק השבות. אך האם הוא מבין – גם אם שלא במודע – שהוא משתף פעולה עם תהליך המוריד את שיעור היהודים באוכלוסיית ישראל? האם סוגיית גיוס החרדים הייתה שווה את זה? האם היה זה אך ורק חישוב קר כדי להציל את מקומו בכנסת?

ייתכן שאינו באמת מזוהה עם ליברמן אלא פשוט מנצל אותו – כמו כל פוליטיקאי ישראלי טוב (רע?). כך או כך, טוב שההצעה הזו אחורינו. ואני אומר זאת מבחינת מי שלא חבר הליכוד.

או שמא אביגדור ליברמן הוא זה שמנצל את דן אילוז – ואת הכיפה שלו – כמעין תעודת כשרות למפלגתו שלא כשרה בכלל. יאיר לפיד עשה אותו הדבר עם הרב דב ליפמן והרב שי פירון; וזמן רב קודם לכן, מפלגת העבודה עשתה זאת עם הרב יהודה עמיטל והרב מיכאל מלכיאור.

מועצת העיר ירושלים

ב־2018 נבחר אילוז לחבר מועצת העיר ירושלים וראש ועדת הביקורת המקומית מטעם התעוררות בירושלים, תפקיד שבו כיהן עד להתפטרותו ב־2021 בעקבות הסכם רוטציה. במסגרת כהונתו, פעל לחיזוק ריבונות ישראל במזרח ירושלים, קידום מעמדה הבין-לאומי של העיר, שיפור קליטת עולים חדשים בבירה, צמצום בירוקרטיה עירונית, ושמירה על אחריות פיסקלית וניהול תקציבי מאוזן. 

התעוררות פעילה גם בתחום יחסי דתיים וחילוניים בעיר. היא נאבקה כדי לאפשר לעסקים שונים להיפתח גם בשבת, בין היתר סינמה סיטי ירושלים, ובית הקפה בגן העצמאות. אילוז היה חבר בקונגרס הציוני העולמי ה־38 מטעם ארגון בתי כנסת אורתודוכסיים.

ב-2021 מונה למנהל פעילות ארגון ציוני אמריקה בישראל ומנהל קהילות בפורום קהלת.

תפקידו הממשלתי הראשון של אילוז הגיע בעקבות התפטרותו של ח״כ אחר; תופעה שלא חריגה.

עם זאת, תנועת "התעוררות" של עופר ברקובוץ׳ שימשה למעשה כאמצעות לביטוי רגשות התנגדות לחרדיים בירושלים. היא לא פעם הראשונה שיוזמה קיימת להתנגד להשפעה חרדית בעיר. בולט במיוחד היה המאבק שהובילה רחל עזריה, המגדירה עצמה כדתיה פמיניסטית; לפניה. היה זה פפה אללו, מנהיג מפלגת מר״צ המקומית, שעסק בהפחדה; וב-2019, אביגדור ליברמן פעל באופן דומה.

דן אילוז היה חבר במפלגה ופעל במסגרתה בעת כהונתו במועצת העיר ירושלים. מפלגת "התעוררות" לא הייתה אלא כיסוי לפעילות נגד התורה, תחת אצטלה של "פלורליזם".

אפילו אם הוא טוען שהשתייכות מפלגתית המקומית שונה לגמרי מבמישור הארצי, הוא כבר מראה לנו שהוא מוכן לקפוץ ממפלגה למפלגה לפי הצורך בדומה לציפי לבני.

אם כן, האם אילוז אכן האמין ב"פלורליזם" ובחופש הביטוי הדתי? או שמא בסך הכל ניצל את הקשר שלו לעופר ברקוביץ'?

כהונתו בכנסת

בבחירות המקדימות לקראת הבחירות לכנסת העשרים וחמש התמודד כנציג קבוצת הליברלים בליכוד למקום 33 ברשימה המשוריין לעולה חדש, גבר על חבר הכנסת לשעבר גדי יברקן בפער קטן ושובץ ברשימה.

ב-6 בינואר 2023 נכנסה לתוקפה התפטרותו מהכנסת של חבר הכנסת מיקי זוהר במסגרת החוק הנורווגי ואילוז התמנה לחבר הכנסת במקומו. לאחר שאופיר אקוניס התפטר מהכנסת במרץ 2024 בשל מינויו לקונסול הכללי בניו יורק, הפך אילוז לחבר כנסת שאינו קשור לחוק הנורווגי.

שוב, אילוז מתקדם במעלה הרשימה בעקבות התפטרות. עם זאת, לאור "החוק הנורווגי" – שלפיו שרים שמונו לתפקידם מתפטרים ומאפשרים לבא בתור ברשימה להחליפם. ואז, ניתנה לאילוז ההזדמנות להוכיח למה הוא מסוגל.

הוא התנגד לחוק המעונות בטענה שהוא מסיר את התמריץ הכלכלי היחיד שנותר על אי-גיוס חרדים, התנגדותו הייתה בניגוד למשמעת הקואליציונית בליכוד וכתוצאה מכך הוחלף בוועדת הכלכלה ובוועדת חוץ וביטחון וכן נאסר עליו להגיש הצעות חוק פרטיות למשך חודש וחצי[]. בשל עמדתו, נענש על ידי הקואליציה והודח מחברותו בוועדת חוץ וביטחון[]. על אף הלחצים הפוליטיים, המשיך אילוז להוביל קו תקיף בנושא, והדגיש כי על המדינה לגבש חוק שיחייב את הציבור החרדי לשאת בנטל הביטחוני באופן הדרגתי אך משמעותי[].

דרמה גדולה. אך בזכות פרשה זו, רבים כבר מכירים את השם דן אילוז. משימתו הושלמה. מכאן נותר לראות אם המהלך הנועז שלו ישתלם.

הקשר שלו עם הנוצרים
דן אילוז חבר בהשדולה לקידום היחסים עם הקהילות הנוצריות, לצד יולי אדלשטיין – שנאם באירועים מיסיונריים נוצריים – וח״כ שרן השכל, המעורבת זה מכבר בפעילות הארגון הנוצרי "היובל" / ״החברה של ישראל״.

אין בכך כל הפתעה, שכן הוא לא חבר הליכוד הראשון שהולך עם הזרם להתחבר לנוצרים. קדמו לו בכך גדעון סער, גילה גמליאל, איוב קרא, שגיב אסולין ודני דנון.

נראה שאילוז יודע היטב איזה צד פרוסת הלחם שלו מרוח בחמאה, ונמנע להתנגד לעבודה זרה (כוללת עבודת אלילים) "חופש הביטוי הדתי". למעשה, לאחרונה הוא אף גינה תקיפות נגד נוצרים בירושלים ונגד רכושם. אל תתרגשו! בסך הכל מדובר על יריקות ומעשי נזק קל.

הרב מוטי אלון 
נתקלתי לראשונה בדן אילוז בעולם של הבלוגרים היהודיים – כשהיה תלמיד בישיבת הכותל, שבה כיהן אלון כראש ישיבה. בפינה העליונה של הבלוג שלו, הוא הכריז בגאווה כי הרב מוטי אלון שליט"א -- וכן, הוא כתב שליט"א -- הוא "גדול", כלומר אחד מן גדולי התורה של דורנו.

אלון, שרבים הגדירו אותו כטורף מיני – תוך שהוא מוודא שהמטרות שלו, התלמידים שלו הם בגיל המותר על פי חוק – קיבל הוראה מבית דין של עמיתיו להפסיק ללמד. שלוש שנים לאחר מכן, משהוא לא ציית להוראת בית הדין, סבר בית הדין כי אין לו ברירה אלא לפרסם את הדברים ברבים.

אלון זכה לסיוע מצד הרב דרוקמן ז"ל, שהזמין אותו ללמד בישיבה שלו, בניגוד לפסיקת בית הדין.

האם דן אילוז גינה את מוטי אלון במידה מספקת או לא? אתם תשפטו.

טרם מצאתי דבר חזק יותר מאותו סרטון שהוא העלה לחשבון הפייסבוק שלו.

"המשבר העמוק שחוויתי כתלמידו של הרב מוטי אלון לימד אותי בדרך הקשה את החשיבות הקריטית של שמירה על חשיבה עצמאית לעולם לא ללכת בעיניים עצומות. הלקח הזה נותן לי היום את העוצמה והביטחון לפעול על פי מצפוני בכנסת, ולעמוד בקומה זקופה על העקרונות שלנו גם כשיש מחלוקת מקצועית מול ראש הממשלה בנושאים כמו חוק הגיוס."

יש טוענים כי עלינו לגלות כלפיו הבנה, שכן ייתכן שהוא עדיין מתאושש מההלם.

אני אומר שלא.

תראו איך הוא ניצל את "המשבר" הזה לטובתו, תוך המנעות מכל גינוי כלפי מורה שהטריד את תלמידיו באופן מיני.

אני יכול להבין איך הדבר עשוי לגעת בח"כ דן אילוז באופן אישי . ייתכן שהוא מכיר כמה מהקורבנות. אך כחבר כנסת, זוהי הזדמנות חשובה לגנות את מעשיו הפסולים של ראש הישיבה לשעבר שלו, וכן כל סוג של כפייה או התעללות מינית.

ועליו לעשות את זה עכשיו.

סיכום
אני מעריך את רצונו של ח״כ אילוז להמנע מליפול לתוך המלכודת ולהפוך לבובה של נתניהו – כפי שקרה לרבים אחרים – וכן את הבנתו את הצורך ברפורמה משפטית ואת תמיכתו בהקפאת הכספים לאונר"א.

עם זאת, קל לו מאוד לקבל תמיכה ממצביעים לא-יהודים עבור מפלגתו החדשה; ברור שאין לו שום בעיה עם תמיכה של הנכרים או עם השפעתם על המדינה.

אין לי ספק שדן אילוז באמת דואג לעם ישראל ולמדינת ישראל. אך עלינו לשאול את עצמנו: האם אילוז הוא פוליטיקאי ככל הפוליטיקאים, שדואג בראש ובראשונה למקומו בכנסת?

Esser Agaroth (2¢):
I sure hope MK Dan Illouz does not just brush this off as a series of negative comments from a disappointed Likud member that his people have taught told him to avoid. This is nothing of the sort. I am not a Likud member.

Let us take a look to where MK Illouz is moving, and why. Then we will take a look at his political career until now, and finish with an unresolved issue from his past.

Israel Our Home Party (Yisrael Beiteinu)
Dan Illouz Wikipedia... Yeah, I know, but once in a while it provides a decent summary, while I fill in the holes not covered.

In July 2026, Illouz joined the opposition in voting against Basic Law: Torah Study. He also announced that he would be departing from the party and will not participate in the party primaries. Illouz announced in August that he would run with Yisrael Beiteinu [Israrel Our Home of Avigdor Lieberman] in the 2026 Israeli legislative election.

Illouz submitted his Knesset resignation on 11 August and was replaced by Shabtai Katash on 13 August.

Ironically, MK Katash is Haredi (ultra-orthodox).

Party founder and head, Avigdor Lieberman receives depends on support from non-Jews. Period.

It is in his interest to do whatever is necessary to allow non-Jews from the Former Soviet Union into the country. Israel has been receiving Ukrainian "refugees," looking for weather, warmer than Poland and the rest of Europe. I have seen some of their homes in Nahariya, only a block or two from the beach. I imagine that many are refugees, but certainly not all.

I thought that men of a certain age in the Ukraine had to be conscripted? I suppose that if you are connected, then that law does not apply to you.

Enter Lieberman, who had the hutzpah (gall) to support the immigration of those with a Jewish great-grandparent...temporarily, instead of the usual grandparent, as allowed by Israel's suicidal Law Of Return. Fortunately, this proposal was shot down.

This was one bullet dodged, while we continue to deal with infiltrators from Africa and African and Asian foreign workers with anchor babies, welcomed by other leftists who need the votes of these potential new citizens, because they themselves are not producing enough children, ie. future voters.

I am willing to give MK Illouz the benefit of the doubt, and believe that he would never support this change to the Law Of Return. But does he realize he is a collaborator in the de-Jewification of Israel, albeit unwittingly so? Was the issue of the Haredi draft worth it? Was this just a calculation to save his place in Knesset (Israeli Parliament)?

Maybe he's not so aligned with Lieberman, and is just exploiting him, like any good(?), Israeli political. Nevertheless, good riddance. And I say that, even though I am not even a Likud member.

Or, perhaps it is Avigdor Lieberman who is exploiting Dan Illouz, and his kippah, as some kind of certification  that his party is kosher. It is not. Yair Lapid did this with Rabbi Dov Lipman and Rabbi Shai Piron. Well before that, Labor did it with Rabbis Yehuda Amital and Michael Melchior.

Jerusalem City Council

Illouz joined Hitorerut, a political party in Jerusalem, and became a member of the Jerusalem City Council in March 2018 following the resignation of another councillor. He was subsequently elected to the council in the October 2018 municipal elections, and resigned from the council in 2021 as part of a rotation agreement with Yosef Spiezer. After resigning, Illouz served as the Israeli representative at the Zionist Organization of America, as well as a communities manager for the Kohelet Policy Forum. Illouz is also a former parliamentary aide to Yariv Levin.

Illouz's first position as an official in government came as a result of another's resignation. This is not uncommon.

However, Hitorerut (Heb. "waking up") was essentially a front for the expression of anti-Haredi sentiment in Jerusalem. This was nothing new. Most notable was the battle lead by self-identified orthodox feminist Rachel Azaria. Before her, it was the fear mongering of local Meretz Party leader Pepe Alalu. In 2019, Avigdor Lieberman did much the same.

The Hitorerut (Waking Up) Party of Ofer Berkowitz, was active in the area of Religious - Secular relations. It fought in order to make it possible for various businesses to be open on Shabbat, the Cinema City Mall and a café in Independence Park, among others.

Dan Illouz was a member of the and served under its banner, while on the Jerusalem City Council. The Hitorerut Party was nothing more than a front for anti-Torah activism, under the guise of "pluralism."

Although he may tell you that party affiliation at the local level vs. the national level are completely different animals, he already began showing signs of being an opportunistic party jumper, like Tzippy Livni.

So, did Illouz also believe in "pluralism," and the freedom of religious expression? Or was he just taking advantage of his position with Ofer Berkowitz?

The Knesset

In 2022 Illouz decided to seek election to the Knesset as a member of the Likud, participating in primaries held by the party ahead of an upcoming legislative election. Illouz ran for the reserved immigrant spot on the Likud list against then-incumbent MK (and immigrant from Ethiopia) Gadi Yevarkan. Despite the fact that Yevarkan resigned from the Knesset to make himself eligible for the spot (which is reserved for newly incoming members of the Knesset), Illouz narrowly prevailed. The Likud received only 32 seats in the election, so Illouz did not enter the Knesset immediately, as he was placed 33rd on the party slate. However, after the swearing-in of the thirty-seventh government of Israel, several Likud ministers resigned their seats under Israel's Norwegian law, and Illouz entered the Knesset on 6 January 2023.

Yet again, Illouz rises through the ranks, due to a resignation. But with the Norwegian Law, in which appointed Ministers resign, allowing the next on the list to replace them, this is not really anything unusual. Now, Illouz has the chance to show us what he's got.

In October 2024, Illouz broke ranks with the Likud over proposed legislation to provide government subsidies to Haredi yeshiva students who do not perform military service. The Likud punished Illouz by removing him from the Knesset's Economic Affairs Committee and Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee, and by preventing him from submitting private bills in the Knesset. The legislation was withdrawn after enough MKs from the coalition, including Illouz, opposed it to the point that the coalition's majority was in doubt.

High drama. But by now, many do know the name Dan Illouz. Mission accomplished. Now the question is if his gambit will pay off.

Christians
Dan Illouz is a member of the Knesset Christian Allies Caucus, along with Yuli Edelstein, who has spoken at Christian missionary events, and MK Sharren Haskel, who has long been involved with Hayovel/Israel Guys.

No surprise here, as he is not the first [former] member of the Likud Party to jump onto the Christian bandwagon: Gideon Sa'ar, Gila Gamliel, Ayoub Kara, Sagiv Asulin, and Danny Danon.

Illouz seems to know which side of his bread is buttered. And so, it is not advantageous for him to come out against avodah zarah (foreign worship, including idolatry), ie. "freedom of religious expression." In fact, he recently condemned attacks on Christians in Jerusalem and their property. Don't get excited. It was only spitting and vandalism.

Rabbi Moti Alon shlit"a
I first encountered Illouz in the Jewish blogging world -- blogosphere, as it was called -- when he was a student at Yeshivat HaKotel, where Alon was Rosh Yeshivah. In the top corner of his blog, he proudly declared Rabbi Moti Alon shlit"a (yes, shlit"a) to be a gadol. one of the Torah greats of our generation.

Declared by some to be a sexual predator, making certain that his targets -- his own students! -- were of age, Alon was ordered not to teach again, by a Beth Din (Rabbinical Court) of his peers. Three years later, after not following the Beth Din's order, the court felt it had no choice but to go public.

Alon was rescued by Rabbi Drukman z"l who invited him to teach at his yeshivah, in contradiction to the Beth Din's ruling.

So, this brings us to Dan Illouz.

Has he, or has he not, condemned Moti Alon enough? You be the judge.

I have yet to find anything more severe than the video [in Hebrew] from his Facebook account. 

Translation:
The profound crisis I experienced as a student of Rabbi Moti Elon taught me, the hard way, the critical importance of maintaining independent thought and never following blindly. Today, that lesson gives me the strength and confidence to act according to my conscience in the Knesset and to stand tall for our principles, even when facing professional disagreements with the Prime Minister on issues such as the conscription law.

Some say we should give him a break, as he may still be recovering from the shock.

I say no.

You see how well he spun this "crisis" to his advantage, avoiding any condemnation of a teacher who took advantage of his students sexually.

I can understand how this might touch MK Dan Ilouz personally. Perhaps he even knows some of the victims. But as an MK, this would be an important opportunity to condemn the misdeeds of his former yeshivah head, and sexual coercion and abuse of any kind.

And he needs to do that now.

Conclusion
Although I appreciate his not wanting to fall into the trap of becoming a puppet of Netanyahu, as so many have, and I appreciate his understanding for the need for judicial reform, as well as his advocacy for the freezing of funds to UNRWA.

But, how easy is it for him to accept support from the many non-Jewish voters for his new political party? He certainly does not have any issue with non-Jewish support and influence on the State.

I have no doubt that Dan Illouz truly cares about People and State of Israel. But, we have to ask ourselves, Is Illouz just like any other politician, first and foremost concerned with his seat?

You just read how he climbed Israel's political ladder crawled his way into the Knesset. So, you have the answer.
