[MK Micha'el] Ben-Ari said that the only weapon brought to the march by the group of Jewish nationalists is the flag of Israel.
The marchers were told to hand their weapons over to police when they arrived in the Wadi Ara region before they were transferred to bullet-proof vehicles to bring them to Umm el-Fahm.
Yesterday, before learning of "police procedure," there was debate as to whether participants in the march should bring their weapons or not. Should they leave them at home, get injured, and thus prove to the world how the police leave Torah observant Jews to the lions? Or should they ignore politics and potentially negative, news media coverage, and bring their weapons, due to the need for protection.
I voted for the latter.
Itamar Ben-Gvir called the event an historic one, saying it was a test both for the state and for the media covering the march.As I mentioned in my previous Umm el-Fahm post, Itamar suggested that this would be a test.
I certainly agree. And it seems that so far the Israeli mews media is failing. Not even Arutz 7 (Israel National News) has bothered to mention any contrast in the treatment of Torah observant nationalist versus leftist Jews and Arabs given almost free reign in Hevron, Nil'in and other areas of the country.

Anyway... I'm not surprised by the reaction of the left. An observant Jew's mere presence is an outrage to them.
It doesn't matter if one simply strolls upon the Har Habyit (even if one does not daven!) or takes a scenic walk through Chevron.
To the left, if you are an observant Jew, you deserve everything that the Arabs throw at you.
Isn't that a tragedy? It's sad to think such words come out of the mouths of our own brothers and sisters.

I think that a lot people are misguided, if not brainwashed, and thus MAY deserve our patience and tolerance. However, that does not let them off the hook for all the damage they are doing, and they must be stopped.
Certainly, we are obligated to rebuke them when possible, which is frustrating.
You'd be surprised at how many "religious" Jews are not terribly interested in hear halachic sources, if it contradicts what they heard in their "rabbi's" shi'ur.

I can think of more than a few are our fellow bloggers who fit into this category.
I think it's a disease really.
Leftist Jews have spent the better part of 2500+ years doing their utmost to appease the Hellenists.
They really believe that if they show our enemies--those whom want to kills us all--that they are "good" Jews (by rejecting Torah), that the world will love them.
So they criticize & alienate their own people because they've always seen this as the ticket to acceptance.
Most people see openly observant Jews as alien anyway, so they believe that if they treat the observant flock with the same contempt that the goyim do, then they'll gain points with them.
It's been tried 100 times before (actually more than that) and it never works. Whether you are a Jew who openly wear a kipah and tzitzis proudly in fear of Hashem, or one who saves his/her "Jewishness" privately at the Shabbos table alone, it doesn't take away from the fact that you are still a Jew--and therefore, they cannot gain the acceptance of the goyim no matter what they say or do.
Look at history...
In the inquisition, there were a good number of Jews who converted to Catholicism to avoid death and persecution, and then shortly after that were killed anyway because they were called "secret Jews".
Hashem puts a mark on each of our souls that screams "I am a Jew"--and no one can escape that.
And that of course is only one small example of assimilation attempts, but the results are largely the same.
We are the smallest of people, but also the most hated. And as I much as I would like people to wise-up, I do not worry about it.
The fate of those who do not fear Hashem are the same (Jewish or not).
I'd rather be persecuted or killed (G-d forbid) by living righteous in observance of of the mitzvos than to live a long life in disobedience and rebellion of Hashem.
The beginning of wisdom is the fear of Hashem after all. I'll fear Him now, and respect Torah, and I'll have a life of perfection in the olam haba.
I wouldn't trade 1% of the blessings of the world to come for even 1000% of the blessings in this world.
It's simply a matter of who you fear--those who fear the nations who hate us will have no peace. Yet those who reserve their fear for Hashem alone shall have peace forever. That's a pretty good deal if you ask me.
