משרד המדינה הפחית את האגרה שאמריקאים חייבים לשלם עבור ויתור על אזרחותם האמריקאית בכ-80%, והוריד את העלות מ-2,350 דולר ל-450 דולר על פי כלל חדש שנכנס לתוקף ביום שישי.

האגרה החדשה, שהוכרזה לראשונה בשנת 2023 אך לא יושמה בעבר, מחזירה את העלות לאותה רמה שגבתה הממשלה כאשר החלה לדרוש תשלום עבור ויתור על אזרחות בשנת 2010.

[דובר] משרד המדינה אמר בחוק כי הוריד את האגרה כהחלטה מדיניות כדי להפחית את נטל העלויות על אנשים המבקשים תעודת אובדן אזרחות, המסמך המונפק לאחר שמישהו מוותר רשמית על אזרחות אמריקאית בפני פקיד דיפלומטי או קונסולרי בחוץ לארה״ב.

משרד המדינה העלה את האגרה מ-450 דולר ל-2,350 דולר בשנת 2015, בין היתר כדי לכסות את עלויות המנהלה, שכן מספר האמריקאים המבקשים לוותר על אזרחותם זינק בעקבות כללי דיווח מס חדשים בארה"ב עבור גולים, כך דיווח סוכנות הידיעות AP (סוכנות ידיעות אמריקאית).

מספר הבקשות לוותר על אזרחות עלה בחדות בתחילת שנות ה-2010, מ-956 מקרים בשנת 2010 ל-3,436 בשנת 2014, כך מסר משרד המדינה.

המשרד מסר כי האגרה החדשה בסך 450 דולר נותרה נמוכה בהרבה מעלות הממשלה בפועל לעיבוד בקשות לויתור. משרד החוץ מעריך שכ-4,661 איש מגישים בקשה מדי שנה לתעודת אובדן אזרחות...

העלאת האגרה עוררה ביקורת מצד קבוצות סנגור, כולל זו המייצגת אנשים המחזיקים באזרחות אמריקאית בעיקר משום שנולדו בארצות הברית אך חיו את רוב חייהם בחו"ל, כך דיווחה סוכנות הידיעות AP...

איזה חוצפה!

אז כל היהודים בעלי אזרחות אמריקאית מלידה המתגוררים בארץ חייבים להזהר. נראה שארה"ב והבובה הישראלית שלה יכולות לשלוח אתכם בחזרה ל'עם ריקה'.

אז למה עבר כל הזמן הזה לפני שביצעו את ההצעה להוריד את העלות על ויתור אזרחות ארה״ב? ביידן קיבל את ההמלצה, ואז הוא צוותו עיכב ביצועה?

למה הם העלו אותה מלכתחילה, אם הם מצהירים כעת ש-450 דולר נמוכים בהרבה מעלות הממשלה בפועל לעיבוד בקשות ויתור? אמור להרתיע? בוודאי מיליארדרים הרוצים להמנע מלשלם מסים לארה"ב יכולים לשלום 2,350 דולר כדי לעשות כך, והיו משלמים אותם בשמחה.

הפחתת העמלה יושמה על ידי ממשל טראמפ. אך בהחלט היה לחץ על ממשלת ארה"ב לעשות זה כבר.

העלאת האגרה הדרמטית הזו עוררה התנגדות משמעותית מצד קבוצות כמו ״אגודת אזרחי אמריקה בלי כוונה״ בצרפת, המייצגת אנשים המתגוררים בעיקר חוץ לארה״ב שאזרחותם האמריקאית נובעת מכך שנולדו בארצות הברית.

האגודה הגישה מספר תביעות משפטיות המערערות על חוקתיות האגרה, כולל אחת שנותרה תלויה ועומדת, הטוענת כי אין לשלם עלות עבור ויתור על אזרחות.

"אגודת אזרחי אמריקה בלי כוונה מברכת על החלטה זו, המכירה בצורך להפוך את הזכות הבסיסית הזו לנגישה לכולם", אמר נשיא האגודה, פביאן להאגרה, בהצהרה. "ניצחון זה הוא תוצאה ישירה של שש שנים של הליכים משפטיים בלתי פוסקים ופעילות משפטית." (לוס אנג'לס טיימס)

עוד לא הגיע הזמן לשמוח על הפחתת העלות עבור ויתור על אזרחות אמריקאית. לא היתה סיבה להעלות את האגרה הזו מלכתחילה, ולא היתה לה סיבה לקיים בכלל. להזהר מהאותיות הקטנות:

אזרח אמריקאי לשעבר עדיין עלול להתמודד עם גירוש ממדינה זרה לארצות הברית כזר.

אנשים השוקלים להישבע שבועת ויתור צריכים להיות מודעים גם לכך שהעובדה שוויתרו על אזרחות אמריקאית עשויה לא להשפיע כלל על חובות המס או השירות הצבאי שלהם בארה"ב. (משרד המדינה של ארה"ב)

איזו חוצפה!

כבר ראינו את ממשלת ישראל מדברת על האפשרות לבטל אזרחות של מי שהיא מזהה כמחבל. כבר הזהרתי שממשלת ישראל תפרש באופן יצירתי את ההגדרה של מחבל. למרות שהממשלה טוענת שבית המשפט היא יריבתה, אולי בית המשפט יבצע את זה בשבילה.

בקרוב ממשלת הערב רב (ראו שמות יב,לח) עלולה להיות כה נואשת, עד שתתיחס ליהודים נאמני הקב״ה ותורתו בנאמנות רבה יותר מאשר במדינה, כמחבלים.

מְחַבֵּל - גרם נזק; קילקל; פגם; פגע (מילוג)

האם רבים בשמאל, אפילו "דתיים", בישראל לא צועקים על האימה שהחרדים והמתנחלים מטילים עליהם? האם הם לא מודאגים מכך שיילחצו לקבל עליהם תורה ומצוות על ידי שומריה? האם הם לא טוענים כמה הם מפחדים משלטון כהני דת מדכא, האם הם לא משווים שלטון כהני דת אפשרי בארץ למשטר הנוכחי באיראן? (שהוא יפול במהרה בימינו!)

וזה הרמז עבורכם, המתנגדים, להגיב בכמה זה נשמע משוגע.

עדיין לא ברור למה האגרה הופחתה. האם ממשלת ארה"ב באמת נכנעה ללחץ משפטי? נראה יותר כאילו היא החליטה שזה לא מאבק ששווה להלחם בו.

מה שכן ברור הוא שהאותיות הקטנות באתר האינטרנט של משרד המדינה האמריקאי הן עדות נוספת לכך שיהודים שומרי תורה בישראל חייבים להשאר ערניים.

The State Department has cut the fee Americans must pay to renounce their U.S. citizenship by roughly 80%, lowering the cost from $2,350 to $450 under a new rule that took effect Friday.

The new fee, first announced in 2023 but not previously implemented, returns the cost to the same level the government charged when it first began requiring payment for citizenship renunciations in 2010.

The State Department said in the rule that it lowered the fee as a policy decision to reduce the cost burden on people seeking a Certificate of Loss of Nationality, the document issued after someone formally renounces U.S. citizenship before a diplomatic or consular officer abroad.

The State Department raised the fee from $450 to $2,350 in 2015 in part to cover administrative costs as the number of Americans seeking to renounce their citizenship surged following new U.S. tax reporting rules for expatriates, The Associated Press reported.

Applications to renounce citizenship rose sharply in the early 2010s, climbing from 956 cases in 2010 to 3,436 in 2014, the State Department said.

The department said the new $450 fee remains well below the government’s actual cost of processing renunciation requests. The State Department estimates roughly 4,661 people apply each year for a Certificate of Loss of Nationality...

...Stricter financial reporting requirements imposed on Americans living overseas — including rules tied to the Foreign Account Tax Compliance Act (FATCA) — have contributed to renunciation requests in recent years, the department said.

The increase in the fee drew criticism from advocacy groups, including the one that represents people who hold U.S. citizenship primarily because they were born in the United States but have lived most of their lives abroad, the AP reported...

So, why did the fee reduction take so long to implement? Biden received the recommendation, and then he his people sat on it?

Why did they raise it in the first place, if they now state that $450 remains well below the government’s actual cost of processing renunciation requests? A deterrent? Certainly billionaires wanted to avoid U. S. taxes could afford $2,350, and would pay it happily.

The fee reduction may have been implemented by the Trump administration. But there was certainly pressure on the U. S. Government to do so.

That dramatic fee increase drew significant opposition from groups such as the France-based Assn. of Accidental Americans, which represents people mainly living abroad whose U.S. citizenship is due to their having been born in the United States.

The association filed several lawsuits challenging the constitutionality of the fee, including one that remains pending that argues there should be no cost for renouncing one’s citizenship.

“The Association of Accidental Americans welcomes this decision, which acknowledges the necessity of making this fundamental right accessible to all,” its president, Fabien Lehagre, said in a statement. “This victory is the direct result of six years of relentless legal action and advocacy.” (Los Angeles Times)

Don't cheer over the fee reduction for renunciation of U. S. citizenship just yet. The should never have been raised, let alone existed in the first place. Beware the fine print:

A former U.S. national may still face deportation from a foreign country to the United States as an alien.

Persons considering taking the oath of renunciation should also be aware that the fact that they have renounced U.S. nationality may have no effect whatsoever on their U.S. tax or military service obligations. (U. S. State Department)

Such hutzpah!

So, beware to all Jews with U. S. citizenship by birth. It seems that the U. S. and that its Israeli puppet can send you back to 'Murica, like it not.

We have already seen the Israeli Government toy with removal of citizenship from whom it labels as a terrorist. I have also already warned that the Israeli government, perhaps through the courts -- it claims to be its adversary -- will creatively interpret the definition of a terrorist.

Soon the Erev Rav government may get so desperate, it will deem those Jews, who hold adhere to HaShem and His Torah with greater loyalty than to the State, to be terrorists.

Do not many on the left, even "religious" Jews, in Israel yell about the terror instilled in them by Haredim (ultra-orthodox) and settlers? Are they not worried about having the Torah and its observance crammed down their throats? Do they not claim how afraid they are of an oppressive theocracy, and comparing such a situation to the current regime in Iran? (May it soon fall!)

And this is the cue for you naysayers to respond with how crazy this sounds.

It is still very unclear as to why the fee was reduced. Did the U. S. government really succumb to legal pressure? It sounds more like it decided this was not a fight worth fighting.

What is clear is that not so fine print on the U. S. State Department's website is further evidence that Torah-observant Jews in Israel must remain vigilant.
