...הנרטיב המצרי בכל הנוגע למה שהתרחש אתמול בגבול שונה מאוד ממה שפורסם בישראל. בגרסה המצרית נטען כי איש ביטחון מצרי נכנס אל מעבר לגבול, נקלע לחילופי אש ש"כתוצאה מהם נהרגו שלושה חיילים ישראלים והמצרי", לשון ההודעה. הרשויות במצרים לא לקחו אחריות, לא ציינו שאותו איש ביטחון מצרי ירה בשני הלוחמים שלא במסגרת חילופי אש, וגם לא הביעו התנצלות באופן פומבי. גם פרטיו של השוטר-מחבל לא פורסמו, וכך גם לא השיוך שלו בתוך מערכת הביטחון המצרית...

Egypt's account of the incident was that the assailant crossed the border and was caught in an exchange of fire, which resulted in his death along with the three Israeli soldiers. The authorities in Cairo did not claim any responsibility and did not mention his attack on the two IDF troops he shot first before encountering the Israeli force, nor did they issue any public apology or the details of his deployment.And that's that. No outrage. The self-blame leads to apologies for Egypt. Actually, in Hebrew (Israel Hayom), it was reported that Egypt did send "Condolences to the families of the dead and best wishes for a speedy recovery to the injured."

Who cares who the Egyptian murderer was? Who cares about the specific nature of the murderer's unit? Egypt is responsible, and needs to take responsibility for its soldiers.
