YNET: President Peres: We will respond forcefully to any Syrian attack
August 29, 2013
President Shimon Peres visited Jerusalem District Police headquarters Thursday morning and addressed recent development in Syria: "What happened in Syria is not just a local event, but a crime against humanity and international law, and therefore the responsible world wishes to respond."
Peres added: "Israel was and is not involved in the Syrian civil war, however if they try to hurt us we will respond with full force. Israel has a strong, innovative and powerful army and has defense systems like never before. The reports about an attack against Israel are aimed at creating panic."
Esser Agaroth (2¢):
"Crime against humanity?" Hmm...
|Nili: “You see me in the photograph, one against many, but that is only an illusion – behind the many stands one man – [Prime Minister Ehud] Olmert, but behind me stand the Lord and the people of Israel.”|
From Amona's Wikipedia page:Even the supposedly "neutral" word evacuation applied to the pogrom at Amona hints to just how the world sees Jews and Israel, in contrast to our use of the word "expulsion."
10,000 Israel Police, Israel Border Police, and Israel Defense Forces troops appeared in Amona to carry out the demolition and to secure the troops involved in the operation. They faced an estimated 4,000 Israeli protesters, one thousand actively protesting inside and around the houses, and another few thousand in the surrounding area. The protesters mostly consisted of youths from across the country, but especially from nearby settlements and schools, some of which had fortified themselves inside the homes and on the roofs in an effort to block, delay, or protest the order being carried out. The violent clashes that ensued surpassed any previous clashes between the security forces of the State of Israel and civilians, including the 2005 unilateral disengagement from the Gaza Strip and destruction of the Gush Katif settlements.

all bloodied up
Tradition teaches us that the hill just next to, and to the north of, Amona is quite possibly Mt. Hatzor, where Avraham Avinu ascended to view the Land which The Holy One, Blessed Be He had promised to his descendants. (Gen. 13:14-15)
His son Yitzhaq Avinu traveled to Azza (Gaza), after being explicitly commanded not to leave Eretz Yisra'el (Land of Israel), indicating that Azza is indeed part of Eretz Yisra'el. (Gen. 26:1)
Unfortunately, it looks as if the Erev Rav will have to learn the hard way that there is an Authority much high than that of so-called "international law," not to mention Israeli law.
So, the next time Shimon Peres declares the necessity of res"crimes against humanity" and violations of "international law," it would probably be a good idea for you not to hold your breath, because he just might not have you in mind.
...Oh, and you can just forget about any defense of Torah Law.
