CTV.ca: Harper will defend Israel 'whatever the cost'
News Staff, November 8, 2010
Prime Minister Stephen Harper says he is prepared to
suffer any political backlash that comes his way for speaking out
against anti-Israel rhetoric.
Harper told an audience Monday that while Israel is receptive to fair criticism, Canada is obligated to stand up for its ally when it comes under attack from others.
"Not just because it is the right thing to do, but because history shows us, and the ideology of the anti-Israel mob tell us all too well, that those who threaten the existence of the Jewish people are in the longer term a threat to all of us." (cont.)

That was three years ago.
Just now, he was in Israel, at some shindig in the Negev, raising money for something. I heard that he even sang something. Who knows. Who has time to keep track of these things? ...I mean besides those 20 and 30 (and 40?) somethings with trust funds.
But, I digress...
So, what's the problem? Jews actually believe him. It does not matter how well-intentioned he is, and let us assume for a moment, that he is well-intentioned.
He defends Jews, as he should. That's great. But, sorry, PM Harper, but Jews are only supposed to be in Canada temporarily. Thank you for your hospitality, but it is time for them all to come back to their only true homeland, the Land of Israel.
And now, three years later?
JPost.com: Canadian Jewish group: Religious symbols ban meant to drum up support for Quebecois secession
Sam Sokol, November 24, 2013
A controversial bill curtailing religious freedoms that has Canadian Jews up in arms is only meant to drum up support for Quebec independence, the Canadian Center for Israel and Jewish Affairs told The Jerusalem Post on Sunday.
The government backers of a bill that would ban the wearing of “conspicuous religious symbols” by public sector workers in Quebec “do not wish to have the legislation adopted in this legislative session,” David Ouellette, the Jewish umbrella group’s director for Public Affairs in Quebec wrote in an email exchange with the Post. Esser Agaroth (2¢):
Who knows the motivation behind this proposed legislation? And who cares? Quebec has already seen a Jewish exodus at various times in its history, with Jews moving to Anglophone areas, such as Toronto, Vancouver, and elsewhere PM Stephen Harper seems to think is safe.
Perhaps the real threat of life in Canada is the illusion of safety. Physically safe or not, it is not where Jews are supposed to be.
