מושל פנסילבניה, ג'וש שפירו נאלץ להגן על עמדתו כלפי ישראל לאחר שהמאמר שכתב לפני יותר משלושה עשורים, שבו כתב על היותו מתנדב צה״ל ומזלזל בעם הפלסטיני, צץ מחדש.

"מאז שכתב את הקטע הזה כסטודנט בן 20, מושל שפירו בנה קשרים הדוקים, משמעותיים ואינפורמטיביים עם רבים ממנהיגי הקהילה המוסלמים-אמריקאים, הערבים-אמריקאים, הפלסטינים הנוצרים והיהודים בכל רחבי פנסילבניה", דוברו של שפירו. מנואל בונדר אמר לפוקס ניוז דיגיטל בהצהרה...

...הפלסטינים לא יתקיימו בשלום בדו-קיום", כי "אין להם את היכולות להקים מדינות מולדת משלהם ולהצליח גם בסיוע ישראל וארה"ב".

"הם יותר מדי קרביים מכדי שיוכלו להקים מולדת שלווה משלהם", כתב שפירו והזדהה כ"מתנדב בעבר בצה״ל". הוא התייחס לעולם הערבי כמפוצל ו"לוחמני".

יהודים רבים מתעצבנים על כך שלא ניתן לשקול ברצינות את המושל ג'וש שפירו כמועמד לסגן הנשיא ארה״ב בבחירות הקרובות.

אני עצבני על כך שה יהודים האלה מתעצבנים.

לא כדאי ליהודים לשרת בממשלה של מדינה לא יהודית, לא מקסיקו, שבחרה זה עתה נשיאה יהודית, לא קנדה, לא מרוקו, ולא בחריין, ולא כל מדינה לא יהודית אחרת, בדגש על המתאר "לא- יהודית."

רבים, אם לא רוב היהודים בחו״ל, עדיין לא קיבלו את ההודעה שישראל היא המדינה היהודית היחידה [האפשרית] ומולדת היחידה לעם ישראל בעולם, ושהם צריכים לגור ולהשקיע בישראל.

עוד דבר, האם ג'וש שפירו שינה את דעותיו בבאמת? או הוא שינה את אותן כדי להיות המועמד לסגן הנשיא? כנראה לעולם לא יתגלה לנו.

האמת היא מה שהכי חשוב הוא ששפירו לא רואה בכך ברכה.

אני מתפלל שבסופו של דבר יראה את הברכה ושהוא יעלה לארץ ישראל עם משפחתו בקרוב.

Pennsylvania Gov. Josh Shapiro, D-Penn., has had to defend his stance on Israel after an op-ed he penned more than three decades ago, in which he wrote of being an Israeli army volunteer and disparaged the Palestinian people, resurfaced.

"Since he wrote this piece as a 20-year-old student, Gov. Shapiro has built close, meaningful, informative relationships with many Muslim-American, Arab-American, Palestinian Christian, and Jewish community leaders all across Pennsylvania," Shapiro’s spokesman Manuel Bonder told Fox News Digital in a statement...

...Palestinians will not peacefully coexist," because "they do not have the capabilities to establish their own homelands and make it successful even with the aid of Israel and the United States."

"They are too battle-minded to be able to establish a peaceful homeland of their own," Shapiro wrote, identifying himself as a "past volunteer in the Israeli army." He referred to the Arab world as divided and "belligerent." (cont.)

Many Jews are outraged that Gov. Josh Shapiro could not be seriously considered as a vice-presidential candidate.

I am outraged that they are outraged.

Jews should not be serving in the government of a non-Jewish country, not Mexico, which just elected a Jewish president, not Canada, not Morocco, and not Bahrain, nor any other non-Jewish country, emphasis on the descriptor "non-Jewish."

Many, if not most Jews, still have not gotten the memo that Israel is the only [potentially] Jewish country, and the only Jewish Land in the world, and that they should be living an investing their abilities in Israel.

And another thing, did Josh Shapiro really change his views over time? Or did change his views in order to become the vice-presidential candidate? I guess we may never know.

Too bad he changed his mind. He wasn't wrong, not about any of it. (See the photos above)

Some have suggested that Sen. Fedderman (D-Penn) had a hand in Shapiro's downfall.

Fetterman’s advisers suggested to Harris’ team that the senator believes that Shapiro is excessively focused on his own personal ambitions. His reservations about Shapiro reflect a long-running rivalry between the two ambitious Democrats, who have risen on parallel tracks in a politically crucial state. (Politico, Aug. 3, 2024)

But all that really matters is that Shapiro does not seem to see this as a blessing.

I pray that he eventually will, and that he will move to Israel with his family soon.
