Haveil Havalim #315: One Wedding And A Funeral

4 of the Second Month 5771

Introduction
Welcome to Haveil Havalim Edition #315!
Founded by Soccer Dad, Haveil Havalim is a carnival of Jewish blogs -- a weekly collection of Jewish & Israeli blog highlights, tidbits and points of interest collected from blogs all around the world. It's hosted by different bloggers each week and coordinated by Jack. The term 'Haveil Havalim,' which means"Vanity of Vanities," is from Qoheleth, (Ecclesiastes) which was written by King Solomon. King Solomon built the Holy Temple in Jerusalem and later on got all bogged down in materialism and other 'excesses' and realized that it was nothing but 'hevel,' or in English, 'vanity.'

A few bloggers seemed to think that I would not include their posts in this edition of Haveil Havalim due to previous expressions of personal differences of opinion. Well, I do not operate that way. I guess those bloggers failed to read between elephants the last time around. Oh, well....

Anyway, did anything else happen during recent weeks besides a wedding and a burial at sea? Let's find out....

Yom Ha'Atzma'uth (Independence Day)
First off, I am really glad that Jonathan Singer, producing here for AishVideo, sent us this very cute and uplifting video, "Wave Your Flag," in honor of Yom Ha'Atzma'uth. A diverse group of people are used in this video. Members of Ezra, the Haredi-Religious-Zionist youth group are also featured. I recognized a few people in this video. See if you do too!

Benji Lovitt shares a post about how he finds Yom HaZikaron (Israeli Memorial Day) and Yom Ha'Atzma'uth to be particularly meaningful in The Yoms Are Coming.

Elder Of Ziyon reports on Poor Madona: Kabbalah Center Is Under A Tax Probe.

Apparently a really nasty Arab terrorist was taken out last week. Here are the comments of several bloggers on the event. I placed this down below, so it would not dominant the carnival. I promised myself that I was not going to give this that much press by including very many posts. But, then they just kept adding up. So, here they are at the very end of this week's edition of Haveil Havalim, for you to pick and choose which ones to read.
