בצה"ל הגיבו הערב (רביעי) לראשונה למכתב ראשי ישיבות ההסדר שהודיעו כי לא יאפשרו את גיוס תלמידיהם לחיל השריון בעקבות פיילוט שילוב הנשים. "בכלל האפשרויות הנבחנות בפיילוט לא קיימת חלופה בה עתיד להתקיים שירות משותף של גברים ונשים באותה המסגרת", מסרו בצבא. בשלב זה לא ברור כיצד הפיילוט בכל זאת ייצא לפועל, חמישה חודשים לפני המועד שנקבע בבג"ץ.

האם אנו מאמינים בהיפוך הזה של הבנת מדיניות צה"ל?

ברור שלא.

עברנו את זה שוב ושוב. "זו רק 'תוכנית פיילוט'".

פירוש: תפסתם אותנו. אז עכשיו אנחנו צריכים להיות אפילו יותר ערמומיים כדי להשיג את המטרה שלנו להטמיע את החיילים הדתיים יותר בקהילת הציונים הדתיים, בחברה הישראלית חילונית.

בנוסף, הבג״ץ מעורב בעניין, וקובע מה זאת אומרת החברה הישראלית. נראה שהוא הפך להיות אסטרטגי יותר, מאז פסקי דיניו הבולטים בענייני תורה כגון מה כשר, מי יהודי, וגיור.

רבים מתלמידי ישיבות ההסדר הללו כבר נמנים עם הנאמנים ביותר למדינה. אך הם המטרה הנוכחית של הערב רב. המצב לא היה ככה לפני כ-20 שנה.

בשנת תשס״ה/2005, תוך סיכון מהפסדת המשכורות, תפקידי עבודה, ותקציבים שלהם, רבני ישיבת חדר חתמו על מכתב המורה לתלמידים לא לציית לפקודות כלשהן לגרש יהודים מבתיהם ושטחיהם. אך רבנים אלה היו ממחנה הציונים הדתיים שמכירים בכך שבכל פעם שחוק מדינת הישראל סותר את חוקי התורה, התורה קודמת. רבנים אלה נודעו כ״התורנים״.

רוב רבני הציונות הדתית באותה תקופה תמכו בציות לפקודות, גם אם התנגדו באופן עקרוני לגירוש יהודים מעזה עצמו. חלקם טענו כי סירוב לפקודות עלול להרוס את מבנה הפיקוד של צה"ל, ובכך לסכן את המדינה ואת עמה.

אך בדרגות שונות, רוב הרבנים אלה האמינו כי או שאין למעשה סתירה בין תורה למדינה, או שהתמונה הגדולה דורשת סבלנות מצד כולם כדי להשיג את המטרה הסופית למרות שחוסר להם חזון על מה זאת אומרת. לרבנים אלה נודעו כ״הממלכתיים״, כלומר נאמני המדינה.

יש טוענים שמונחים אלה היו ידועים בעיקר באזור ירושלים, שם מקורם.

בימים אלה, יש רצף גדול ומורכב יותר בין שני המחנות. למשל המתנחלים המסורים של המאחזים החדשים מגונים ומבודדים יותר ויותר, לפחות על ידי תקשורת המרכזית.

אבל אחרי הכתבה לעיל, קיבלנו בשורות טובות.

אחרי "מכתב הרבנים" נגד שירות בשריון עקב פיילוט הלוחמות, באיגוד מבהירים כי הם "בשיח מתמיד עם צה"ל". לדבריהם, "המכתב שיצא מנוגד לעמדתנו. נעשה כל מאמץ שתלמידינו יתגייסו לחיל השריון, מבלי לפגוע בערכיהם"

פירוש: איך יכול להיות שהרבנים האלה מעזים לפרסם תלונותם בפומבי ולא להתלונן באמצעות משרד הממשלה?! ודקווא כשהם מבקרים את הממשלה?! וכן צה"ל הוא אגף של הממשלה.

למרות היהודים, בעיקר הממלכתים, שחוששים מחילוקי דעות כאלה בין רבנים שיופצו בפומבי, אפילו נבהלים על כך, אני מברך על כך.

הבה נהיה מודעים לדיונים על מהי ההלכה, בהנחה שזה מה שהרבנים האלה דנים בו, ולא דנים באסטרטגיה, תוך המנעות מכל חילוקי דעות פומביים על איך להבין את התורה מול מדינת ישראל.

בשנת תשס״ה/2005 לקראת גירוש היהודים מעזה ומצפון השומרון, מנהיגי צה"ל שמר את הצנחנים, הגבעתי, ונח"ל חרדי (נצח יהודה של היום) רחוקים מהפעולות, בידיעה טובה שרבים מהחיילים הללו מוכנים לסרב לפקודות להשתתף בהן. חלק מראשי הגדודים אפילו הכריזו שחייליהם לא ישתתפו. בסופו של דבר רק 62 חיילים ישבו בכלא בשל סירוב פקודות. לכן, יש מצב שרבני ההסדר המתנגדים לשירות מעורב בטנקים עשויים להשפיע. אבל, כפי שאני מציע לעיל, נראה ש אין לישיבות ההסדר את אותה השקפת התורה קפדנית כמו שהיתה להן לפני 20 שנה.

מצד שני, הרב צבי טאו מישיבת הר המור, וממנהיגי הממלכתיים, שינה את דעתו לאורך השנים כלפי צה״ל. בעבר, הוא התנגד בתוקף לסירוב פקודות של חיילי צה"ל חשבו שסותרות את התורה. היום הרב הופך לביקורתי יותר ויותר כלפי צה"ל. הרב בחזית המאבק נגד יחידות מעורבות, שלא לדבר על השתתפות הכפויה של חיילים זכרים בפעילויות הכוללות שירה וריקוד, על ידי חיילות.

היום השאלה היא כמה השפעה עדיין יש לרב טאו? או ליתר דיוק, כמה השפעה מותרת לו.

וגם בשנת תשס״ה/2005, הרב אברהם שפירא זצ"ל ראש הישיבה הדגלית של הציונות הדתית מרכז הרב קוק הורה לתלמידיו לדחות את לימודי התורה בבית המדרש, ולצאת ולמחות על גירוש יהודי עזה וצפון השומון הצפוי.

היום אם חיילים מהציונות הדתית ייצאו למחאות נגד מדיניות צה"ל יהיה מדהים.

בערך באותו זמן למחאות לקראת הגירוש, הרב אליצור סג״ל כתב גילוי דעה ובו ביקר על שתיקת הרבנות הראשית לצה"ל בנוגע לגירוש הצפוי בידי צה"ל, על הזנות בצה"ל, על הדאגה לחיי לוחמי האויב יותר מחיי החיילים. שנים לאחר מכן, הרב סג״ל יקבל עונש על דבריו.

פירוש: איך הרב מעז לבקר את הרבנות הראשית הקדושה לצה"ל!

מה אתם חושבים אם נראה בחדשות מחאות נגד הפשרה הכפויה של צה"ל על עקרונות התורה? ומה אם מחאות האלה יתקיימו על ידי נוער ציוני דתי עם נוער חרדי יחד?

משהו יפה שנשמח לראות.

Hesder (serve and study) Yeshiva rabbis issued a letter, opposing the serving of their soldiers, with mixed male-female personnel in the close quarters of tanks.

Following a letter from hesder yeshiva rabbis, who announced they would not send their students to the Armored Corps due to the recruitment of female combat soldiers, the IDF Spokesperson stated that "after approximately two and a half years of intense war, the burden on the reserves system has significantly increased - the IDF needs every male and female soldier. As the people's army, the IDF sees supreme importance in integrating all populations. The High Court of Justice did not instruct to recruit female soldiers to the Armored Corps, but rather instructed to conduct the planned pilot program on the matter." According to the statement, "The pilot program constitutes an initial trial for examination going forward. Among all options being examined, there is no alternative in which joint service of men and women will take place in the same framework."

Do we believe this gobbligook of a backtracking?

Of course we don't.

We have seen this time and time again. "It's only a 'pilot program.'"

Translation: You caught us. So, now we have to be even sneakier to achieve our objective to assimilate the more religious, Religious Zionist soldiers into mainstream, Israeli society.

To top it off, the Israeli Supreme Court is involved, dictating what Israeli society is supposed to look like. It seems to have become more strategic, though, since its highly publicized interventions in Torah matters such as what is kosher, who is a Jew, and conversion to Judaism.

Many of these Hesder students are already among the most loyal to the State. Yet they are being targeted anyone. This was not the case 20 years ago.

In 2005, risking their own salaries, jobs, and budgets, Heder Yeshiva rabbis signed a letter instructing students not to follow any orders to remove Jews from their homes and lands. But these rabbis were of the camp of Religious Zionists who recognized that anytime Israeli State law contradicts Torah Law, the Torah takes precedence. These rabbis were known as the Toranim.

The majority of Religious Zionist rabbis at the time supported the following of orders, even if they were against the removal of Jews from their homes in principle. Some claimed that refusing orders had the potential to destroy the IDF command structure, thus putting the State and its people in danger.

But for the most part, to varying degrees, these rabbis believed that either there is not actually any conflict between Torah and State, or that the larger picture demanded patience on everybody's part. These rabbis were known as the Mamlakhitim, roughly translated as "statists." Although many claim that these terms Toranim and Mamlakhtim were known mostly in the Jerusalem area, where they originated.

These days, there is more of a continuum between the two camps, with the dedicated settlers of new hilltop communities becoming increasingly demonized and isolated, at least in the mainstream media.

The next day, we received good news.

Following the 'Rabbis' Letter' opposing yeshiva students' service in the Armor Corps due to the High Court's decision to integrate female combat soldiers, the Hesder Yeshiva Union clarified in an official letter that the union's council is in 'ongoing dialogue with the IDF' and that yeshiva heads are 'making every effort to enable the enlistment of yeshiva students in the Armor Corps this coming August.' The letter was sent to all Hesder yeshiva heads and signed by members of the union's council. The rabbis wrote that 'the letter published in the media in recent days regarding enlistment in the Armor Corps is not a letter from the council, the issuance of such a letter contradicts our position.'

Translation: How dare these rabbis not go through official government channels when... criticizing the government. that is, if we presume that the IDF is a branch of the government. Hint: It is.

While some Jews, from my experience, mostly those Mamlakhtim, are afraid of such disagreements between rabbis aired in pubic, even panic hen this occurs, I welcome it. Let us be privy to the discussions of what the halakhah (Torah law) is, assuming that is what these rabbis are discussing, and not discussing strategy, while avoiding any public disagreement of how to understand the Torah vis-a-vis the State of Israel, a traditionally sensitive issue. Well, it's only sensitive to those who fail to adequately back up their positions with legitimate, and relevant sources. Those who do, have nothing to worry about.

The IDF kept Tzanhanim (paratroopers), Givati (infantry), and Nahal Haredi (ultra-orthodox brigade) far from Gaza and Northern Samaria, knowing full well that many of these soldiers would refuse orders. Some battalion heads already declared their soldiers would not be participation. Only 62 soldiers ended up sitting in jail for refusing orders. So, in theory, the Hesder rabbis opposing mixed service in tank might have influence. But, as I suggested above, it seems that Hesder yeshivas do not have the same, strict Torah perspective as 20 years ago.

On the other hand, Rabbi Tzvi Tau of the Har HaMor Yeshivah, and leader among the Mamlakhtim has changed his tune over the years. Previously adamantly opposed to IDF soldiers refusing orders they believe to be counter to Torah principles, he has become increasingly critical of the IDF. He has been in the forefront in the fight against mixed gender units, not to mention the forced participation of male soldiers in activities featuring singing and dancing, female soldiers.

The question now is how much influence he still has, or rather, is allowed to have.

In 2005, the flagship, Religious Zionist yeshiva Merkaz HaRav Kook, under the leadership of Rabbi Avraham Shapira ztz"l were instructed to set aside Torah study in the Beit Midrash, and go out and protest the pending expulsion of Jews from Gaza.

Wouldn't it be something if Religious Zionist soldiers protested IDF policies today?

Around the same time as the protests, Rabbi Eliyahu Segel publicly criticized the silence of the IDF Chief Rabbinate, regarding the pending expulsion at the hands of the IDF, the promiscuity in the IDF, the concern over the lives of enemy combatants over the lives of soldiers. Years later, Rabbi Segel would be sanctioned for his words.

Translation: How dare he criticize the holy, IDF Chief Rabbinate!

What if the next thing we saw in the news were protests against the IDF's forced compromise of Torah principles? What if these protests were carried out by Religious Zionist and Haredi youth together.

Now, wouldn't that be something?

אירועי תפילה מוסלמיים במרחבים ציבוריים מותרים ובאותו זמן יש פעילות של ענישה נגד אירועי תפילה יהודית.

הכתבה הזו לא עונה על השאלה הזו.

האם העובדה שישראל היא לכאורה מדינה יהודית [עם מיעוטים בעלי דתות אחרות] ומאפשרת לישראלים מתנגדי תורה להשיג את מטרותם לגבי בתי כנסת, ובאותו זמן להמנע מלהסדיר את האסלאם, הנצרות, ודתות?

מהשיחות המגוחכות המוזכרות בהמשך הכתבה גישה כזו נראת מסובכת ומתוחכמת מדי עבורם.

למה הם לא מצהירים שהם נגד התורה, וזהו נגמר?

סביר להניח שרבים מהם לא מבינים עד כמה הם מתנגדים לתורה. אנחנו יכולים להודות למערכת החינוך הממלכתית על כך.

שר התקשורת שלמה קרעי קורא ליהודים אלה ״רשעים ארורים, דור ההמשך של אנטיוכוס והמתייוונים״. (YNET) מתייוונים? כן. רשעים? אולי מנהיגי היוזמה. אבל רובם בכלל לא יודעים את מה שהם עושים. ואז כנראה יש לרובם דין של תינוק שנשבה.

השר קרעי: "רשעים ארורים, דור ההמשך של אנטיוכוס והמתייוונים" שר המורשת [עמיחי] אליהו: "בתי כנסת מרגישים כמיעוט נרדף". השר אליהו גם צודק. אבל אנו צריכים להודות כיצד אנו הגעתו למצב הזה ואיך אנו נוכל לצאת מזה ולמנוע מזה מלקרות שוב.

ולגבי האשמת מערכת החינוך הממלכתית בכך שמורה את ילדינו לקבל השקפות מעוות של התורה, יש יהודים חסרי הרבה חינוך תורני בגלל המערכת הזו ללא ספק ייכנעו, מתוך אמונה שיש קרבות חשובים יותר להשקיע בהם מהקרבות על בתי הכנסת בעיר.

עו"ד שוב השיב: "היום באורתודוקסיה יש הרבה גבולות". הוא התכוון לכך שישנם בתי כנסת מעורבים מגדרית, שנשים משמשות בהם חזניות ועולות לתורה ואף על פי כן, מגדירים עצמם אורתודוקסיים. שוב הוסיף: "אתם מחייבים את בית הכנסת להתאים את עצמו לכל אדם שייכנס אליו".

שוב נכנע, ומנסה להשתמש בהיגיון שמאלני נגד השמאלנים. אני מאחל לו ״בהצלחה״. הוא לא עושה כלום, אלא נותן תעודת כשרות להיגיון שלהם.

שחלק מהקהילות האלה עדיין מגדירות את עצמן כדתיות, לא אומר שהן באמת דתיות. וגם שמשהו מותר לא אומר שראוי לעודד ולקיים, מבלי לקחת בחשבון את ההקשר של ההצעה, כגון המניעה של התומכים בו.

לא יכול להיות צירוף מקרים שמשא ומתן על חוזים אלה -- או איך שלא יקראו לו -- מתקיים ממש באמצע - וללא לעורר תשומת לב - של מחאות על עזה ועל גיוס חרדים.

לסיום, יש להדגיש כי המאבק הזה למערביות/התיוונות אינו מקומי רק לתל אביב. ראו את מודעת הדרושים להלן.

Has the Tel-Aviv city council been confronted over its hypocritical, double standards with regard to Jews vs. Muslim public prayer events?

Muslims have been allowed gender-segregated events; whereas there has been a crackdown on public, Jewish prayer events.

This particular report does not answer this question.

Does the fact that Israel is supposedly a Jewish State [with religious minorities] is backfiring, allowing anti-Torah Israelis to get their way, and excuse themselves from regulating Islam, Christianity, and other non-Jewish observances?

Sounds a bit too convoluted, as well as too sophisticated of a strategy for those involved. This is apparent from the ridiculous back and forth mentioned in the continuation of the report.

Why don't they just come out with it, and say that they are against the Torah, and be done with it?

More likely than not, many of them do not realize just how anti-Torah they are. We can thank the State run, Israeli educational system for that.

The Hebrew version quotes Communications Minister Shlomo Kar'i, calls these Jews the continued generation of the Hellenized Jews of Antiochus. (YNET) Well, this time, he's not wrong. Heritage Minister Amichai Eliyahu says that synagogues feel like an oppressed minority. He is also right. But we must ask ourselves, "How did we get here?" and "How will we be able to prevent this from happening again?"

And speaking of blaming the Israeli educational system for leading our children to have a grossly distorted view of Torah, some uneducated Jews who came out of this system will undoubtedly capitulate, believing that there are more important battles to invest in.

[Attorney David] Shub ended with a broader warning. “Even within Orthodoxy today there are many boundaries. Some synagogues allow women to lead prayers or read from the Torah and still define themselves as Orthodox. You’re forcing synagogues to adjust to whoever walks in,” he said.

Shub caves, and attempts to use leftist logic against leftists. Good luck with that. He does nothing, but legitimize their logic.

Just because some communities still define themselves as "Orthodox," does not mean that they are. Just because something maybe technically permissible, does not mean that it is something appropriate to encourage and implement, without taking under consideration the context of the proposal, as well as the motivation of those behind it.

It cannot be a coincidence that these contract negotiations, or whatever they are calling them, are taking place right in the middle -- and under the radar -- of protests over Gaza and Haredi conscription.

In a final note, it must be emphasized that this battle for Westernization/Hellenization is not just local to Tel-Aviv. See the job ad above.

אתם כבר שמעתם על ביטול תפילות יום הכיפורים הציבוריות בתל אביב. בשנה שעברה היו עימותים שהפריעו למשתתפים להתפלל בתפילות ציבוריות יום כיפור.

סגנית ראש עיריית תל אביב מיטל להבי מתחה ביקורת על יוזמת התפילות הללו מבחינת ראש גלות מערבית הרגיל, כלומר ראש לא יהודי, מבחינת השקפה שהיא ושאר התינוקות הנשבות וצאצאי הערב רב כל כך דבוקים בה. מי יכול להבחין בין מי זה למי הוא בימים אלה?

"75 שנה בתל אביב חיים בשלום יהודים, ערבים, חילונים ודתיים. והדתיים, יש להם פה את כל מרחב הפעולה, יש פה מעל ל-530 בתי כנסת, והעירייה תומכת באירועים הדתיים, כמו שהיא תומכת גם באירועי תרבות. אנחנו מקצים הרבה מאוד שטחים לטובת הנושא של דת. אם נדבר דווקא על אפליה ועל הדרה, אז אני חושבת שבמדינת ישראל מי שסובל מאפליה זה המוסדות הרפורמיים, הקונסרבטיביים, הם לא מקבלים תמיכות, לא ממשרד הדתות, לא מהמועצה הדתית. אז לומר שהאורתודוקסיה סובלת, כשהיא זוכה בכל כך הרבה תקציבים, בכל כך הרבה הכרה? היא אפילו הפכה להיות היהדות הרשמית של המדינה, במקום שגם היהדות הפלורליסטית תהיה".

כפירת סמכות התורה שבעל פה, הברירה והבחירה של איזה מצוות לקיים ואיך לפי דעתם מוכיחות שהתנועה הרפורמית אינה יהדות בכלל.

להאמין בחפותו של התנועה הקוסרבטיבית היא משחקת במצוות. מבחינת חשוד בה אז היא מסלפת מצוות או מתעלמת ממה שהיא לא אוהבת. התבטאות השיטה גם לא יהדות. שאלה נוספת האם מנהיגי התנועה הקוסרבטיבית באמת מאמינים שלוועדם לענייני חוקים ותקנים יש מעמד של הסנהדרין? סתם מסוקרן.

למרות מסע הפרסום העצום שלוחץ ליהודים לקבל שקיימים כל מיני זרמים דתיים ביהודות אין דבר כזה.

לא יכול להיות שסגנית ראש העיר מדברת על יהדות, אלא על הדת האזרחית של הדמוקרטיה. לצערנו, הרבה יהודים גם מאמינים בה. האם אתם זוכרים את החג המפורסם שלנו שנקרא חנוכה? באילו יהודים נלחמו אחד בשני על הדת? השמאל ואפילו של הימין המתון ממשיכים ללסלף את משמעות החג. ואנו ממשיכים להאבק אחד עם השני. המתיוונים למען הדמוקרטיה ושומרי תורה ומצוות למען היהדות.

בשבוע שקדם למתקפה הרצחנית של חמאס בעוטף עזה מדינת ישראל סערה סביב החשש מהתנגשויות שילוו את הקפות שמחת תורה, וזאת בעקבות עימותים קודמים שפרצו בתפילות יום הכיפורים. עד לאחרונה, טראומת המלחמה המתמשכת דחקה את האירועים הסוערים הללו לשולי הזיכרון, אבל עתירה שהגישה לאחרונה עמותת ראש יהודי בראשות ישראל זעירא, המבקשת שבית המשפט יורה לעיריית תל אביב להתיר לה לארגן את תפילות יום הכיפורים המתקרב בהפרדה מגדרית, החזירה את הנושא לסדר היום הלאומי....

תירוש ממשיכה לכתוב על הניסיונות של הממשלה לפגוע בהפרדת הרשויות. לדתי לא מדויק איך היא מציגה את הענייין. מבחינתי הנה הסיפור האמיתי.

הפרדת הרשויות כביכול הגיעה לקצה בשנות ה-90 ברגע שנשיא בית המשפט העליון דאז אהרון ברק יישם את תכניתו. התכנית כל כך ערמומית שאפילו למבריקים בממשלת ישראל פיספסו את הגעתה, עד שהיה מאוחר מדי להפוך אותה.

אז לבסוף, בדצמבר 2022, הוקמה ממשלה שנבחרה באופן דמוקרטי שהבטיחה רפורמה בשיפוט לקראת הבחירות, ובכך יכולה לעצור את אליגרכית (שלטון המעטים על הרבים על ידי) בית המשפט העליון של ישראל.

שר המשפטים יריב לוין (הליכוד) הוביל אז את ניסיון להגביל את כוח ההשתלטות מדי של בית המשפט העליון. במהלך השנים בית המשפט העליון התערב בענייני הדת כולל הכשרות, הגיור, ולאחרונה למי יש זכות להצביע בבחירות לרבנים הראשיים למדינה, והיום איך יהודים מוכרחים להתפלל.

ביוני, הותר למוסלמים לערוך תפילה עם הפרדה מגדרית בתל-אביב לרגל חג עיד אל-אדחא. עוד עלבון יותר מהמוסר הכפול הזה הוא שתמיכה בעיד אל-אדחא תומכת אמונתו של המוסלמי שאברהם היה מוכן להקריב את בנו ישמעאל ולא יצחק, שהיא כפירה בתורה.

האם הדוגמה החצופה הזו לסטנדרטים כפולים מלמדת על כוונת בג"ץ להגדיר מהי יהדות ומהי לא?

ההצעה הראשונה מתוך שלוש לרפורמה שיפוטית המבטלת את סעיף הסבירות, עברה. סעיף הסבירות מאפשר לבית המשפט העליון לבטל כל חוק שהתקבל בכנסת שנבחר בבחירות דמוקרטיות אם השופטים חושבים [לדעתם] שהוא לא סביר.

לא הפתיע אף אחד שבית המשפט העליון ביטל את ביטול סעיף הסבירות על ידי הכנסת.

זמן קצר לאחר מכן, חדרו לישראל בסך הכל 6,000 אנשי חמאס ואזרחים פסבדוסטינים וביצעו טבח. הם רצחו את 1,139 איש, חטפו 250 בני ערובה, רבים מהם כבר נרצחו, ושיגור אלפי הרקטות לדרום ישראל.

הוקמה ממשלת חירום, ובמסגרת ההסכם אסור לכנסת להעלות נושאים שאינם ממש קשורים למלחמה, כגון הרפורמה השיפוטית. איזה מקריות!

לכן, הממשלה שנבחרה באופן דמוקרטי, שהתחילה לממש את הבטחתה לאלה שהצביעו בה לשלטון, חזרה לנקודת ההתחלה.

לכן היום הממשלה שנבחרה באופן דמוקרטי, אשר מימשה את הבטחתה לאלה שהצביעו בה לשלטון, חזרה לנקודת ההתחלה.

נראה שיופי תירוש חובת שהרפורמה השיפוטית מסתירה את קידום הכיבוש המשיחי, כפי שמעידות תפילות עם מחיצה בין גברים לנשים המתקיימות במרחבים ציבוריים.

הלוואי ויכול להסכים איתה. הכוחות המשיחיים שהיא רואה, אני רואה כרבנים שמנסים בכל כוחם להגיע ליהודים חסרי זכויות או מאוכזבים כדי לעודד אותם לחזור למורשת עמם. אם תירוש רוצה לראות "כוחות משיחיים" אז עליה לבקר בישובים מסוימים בשומרון.

לדעתי פסיקת בבית המשפט העליון לגבי תפילות יום הכיפור שעבר במרחב ציבורי והפשרה המְצֻוָּה, וביטול האירוע אחר מכן, אני רואה בו את קטע התורה הבא שמנותק לא מ"האופי היהודי" של מדינת ישראל, אלא מעצם קיומה כמשהו יהודי בכלל.

ביטול אירוע התפילות מאכזב, אבל מובן. אני לא מעריך אף אחת מההתנצלות, וגם לא את עניפת דגל האחדות כביכול. אני מעדיף עניפת דגל של קבלת פנים, זה לצד זה בעידוד חזרה בתשובה. כנראה המארגנים לא רצו שיום הכיפורים יהפוך למאבק ציבורי ואז מאפשר חילול השם ברבים.

הבשורות הטובות היחידות שיצאו מזה הן שאף אחד לא יכול להצהיר שפסיקת בית המשפט העליון כניצחון על ידי הדתיים ולמען הדתיים. ברור שיש כאלה שהיו רוצים להאמין היא ניצחון.

בואו נראה את מה יקרה בשנה הבאה. למרות שסביר להניח שטקסי הדלקת נרות חנוכה לא יתקיימו עם הפרדה מגדרית, יש האפשרות של הפגנות נגד טקסים דתיים יהודיים המתקיימים במרחב ציבורי, דגש על יהודיים. , כל שכן בתל אביב.

האמת היא יש עוד בשורות טובות לדווח. יש הרבה יותר דתיים בעליל מתגוררים בתל אביב, מאשר כשגרתי שם בשנים תשנ״ז-נ״ט/1997-99.

Many of you have already heard about the cancelation of public Yom Kippur prayers in Tel-Aviv. Last year's prayers in Dizengoff Square were marked by clashes, disrupting Jews from praying on the holiest day of our calendar.

Tel Aviv Deputy Mayor Meital Lehavi ranted about the usual Western, ie. non-Jewish, values she and other tinoq shenishba and erev rav descendants hold so dear. Who can tell who is who these days?

“For 75 years in Tel Aviv, Jews, Arabs, secular, and religious people have lived together peacefully. The religious community here has all the space it needs, with more than 530 synagogues, and the city supports religious events just as it supports cultural events. We allocate substantial spaces for religious purposes. If we want to talk about discrimination and exclusion, I’d argue that it’s the Reform and Conservative institutions in Israel that face discrimination. They receive no support from the Religious Services Ministry or the local religious council. So, to claim that Orthodoxy is suffering when it receives so much funding and recognition, to the point that it has become the state’s official form of Judaism, while pluralistic Judaism is sidelined, is simply inaccurate."

The denial of the authority of the Oral Torah, the picking and choosing aspects of Torah of the Reform Movement is not Judaism.

At best the Conservative Movement seems to play with mitzvoth (Torah commandments), and at worst distort or ignore mitzvoth which they do not like. This is also not Judaism. And by the way, do they really believe that their committee on Laws anStandards has the status of a Sanhedrin?. Asking for a friend.

In in spite of the huge publicity campaign forcing the notion of Jewish denominations, there is no such thing.

She is obviously not talking about Judaism, rather she must be speaking about the civil religion of Democracy. Unfortunately, so many Jews believe that she it. Remember that [in]famous holiday of ours called Hanukkah? In which Jews fought each other over religion? In spite of the left's and moderate right's perpetuale attempts to whitewash the holiday, and the ignorance of most Jews, having fallen prey to the left's indoctrination, are still fighting.

During the week before Hamas' murderous attack on the Gaza border communities on October 7, a major controversy was roiling Israel. It concerned the fear of clashes during the then-upcoming celebrations of Simhat Torah that never took place because the war broke out. About two weeks before that festival, Yom Kippur prayers held in Tel Aviv highlighted the political tension between anti-Netanyahu protesters and supporters of the prime minister. The former had been flooding the streets for months, protesting the government's attempts to neuter the Supreme Court and to erode the separation of powers....

I'll end this quote right here, due to what I believe to be an imprecise representation of the attempts at Judicial Reform. Here is the real story, in my view.

The so-called separation of powers met the beginning of its end in the 1990s with then Chief Justice Aharon Barak's implementation of his long game coup d'etat. This sneaked up on even the brightest within the Israeli government, until it was too late to turn it around.

Then finally, in December, 2022, a democratically elected government which had promised Judicial Reform, and thus putting a stop to the oligarchy that is Israel's High Court, was installed.

Justice Minister Yariv Levin (Likud) then led the attempted neutering reining in of the High Court's overreaching power, which included the religious realm, having stuck its noise into the issues of kosher certification, conversion, just recently who should choose the State's Chief Rabbis, and now how Jews should pray.

In June, Muslims were allowed a gender-segregated prayer event in Tel-Aviv for the Id Al-Adha holiday. Even more of a slap in the face of observant Jews is that Id Al-Adha commemorates the Muslim's belief that Abraham offered Ishmael to be sacrificed, a direct contradiction of the Torah.

Is this brazen example of double standards, indicative of what appears to be Israel's High Court intention to define what Judaism is.

The first of three Judicial Reform proposals, the repeal of the Reasonableness Clause, passed. The Reasonableness Clause allowed the High Court essential to strike down any law a majority of the democratically-elected Knesset (parliament) had passed.

The High Court struck down the Knesset's repeal of the clause. No surprises there. 

Shortly afterwards, Israel was infiltrated by a total of 6,000 Hamas members and Pseudostinian civilians, resulting 1,139 deaths, 250 hostages, many of them have already been killed, and the thousands of rockets into the South of Israel. An emergency government was formed, and as part of the agreement, the Knesset may not bring up any issues unrelated to the war, such as the Judicial Reform proposals. How convenient!

So, now the democratically-elected government which fulfilled its promise to those who voted it into power, is back to square one.

In contrast, Yofi Tirosh seems to see Judicial Reform as cover for advancement of Messianic occupation, as evidenced by gender segregated prayer taking place in public spaces. I actually wish that I could agree with her. But what she sees as messianic forces, I see as rabbis who are trying their best to reach disenfranchised Jews to encourage them to give their people's heritage a chance. If Tirosh wants to see "messianic forces," she should visit certain towns in Samaria.

As far as the High Court's ruling of a compromise, and the public prayer event's cancelation goes, I see it as next fragment of Torah chipped away not from the State of Israel's "Jewish character," but from its very existence as a Jewish entity.

The cancellation was disappointing, but understandable. Although I do not appreciate any of the apologetics, nor the banner of unity, as opposed to a banner of welcome, side by side with the encouragement of collective teshuvah (repentance), the organizers did not want Yom Kippur to turn into a public fight, and potential hillul HaShem (desecration of The Almighty's name).

The only good news to come out of this was that no one could get away with branding the High Court's ruling as a victory for and by religious Jews. Although I am sure that there were some who would have liked to.

Stay tuned to see what happens next year. Although Hanukkah candle lightings will unlikely attempt any gender-segregation, do not discount the possibility of protests against public, Jewish observance, emphasis on Jewish, not in Tel-Aviv.

I guess there is more good news to report, there are countlessly more visibly religious Jews residing in Tel-Aviv, than when I lived there in תפנ״ז-תשפנ״ט/1997-1999.

Let us prayer that this trend continues, undermining the Erev Rav's program to decrease Jewish influence and increase its voter base.

"לפי הנהלים של עיריית ירושלים, אירועים לא יכולים חוקית להיערך בהפרדה מגדרית", נאמר בתשובה שקיבלה, ולפיכך "לא תוכלי להשתתף בפרויקט בעקבות הצורך המיוחד שלך". (המשך...)

רבים מכם רוצים להשוות את ממשלת ישראל לממשלת ארה"ב שדורשת מכל המוסדות המקבלות מימון ציבורי להמנע מכל סוג של אפליה. לדוגמה, עכשיו בית המשפט העליון של ארה"ב אישר זאת בפסיקתו שאולצת את ישיבה יוניברסיטי להכיר במועדון להט"ב בקמפוס. בתגובה לצו הזה ישיבה יוניברסיטי פשוט ביטל את כל המועדונים שלו.

מקרה זה מזכיר לנו ששר הפנים לשעבר אלי ישי הסיר את ״הלאום" מתעודות זהות בתגובה לפיסקת בג״ץ לקרוא תינוק מאומץ ״יהודי״ למרות שהוא עבר גיור כביכול על ידי תנועת המסורתים (הקונסרבטיבים). בג״ץ פסק דין שלא בתחומו ורשותו. אלא הוא ברשות בית דין רבני.

וגם בארה"ב בתי ספר דתיים נבדקים על בחירותיהם בלימודי חול, אם הם מקבלים מימון ציבורי.

הגישה של מדינת ישראל היא שונה. מדינת ישראל לא נמנעת ממימון אירועי ושירותי הדת. אלא היא מממנת ומסדירה אותם. שירותים דתיים הם בחסות המדינה. עיריית ירושלים מממנת לאירועים למען כל תושביה המגוונים, חילוניים, דתיים, חרדיים, וכן לקונסרבטיבים ולרפורמים (לצערינו), וגם ללא-היהודים.

Vos Iz Neias: Female Singer Sues Jerusalem Municipality For Refusing To Sponsor Concert Reserved For Women

JERUSALEM (VINnews) — A young Jerusalem singer is suing the Jerusalem Municipality in the magistrates court after it refused to support a performance she was giving since it is reserved for women alone and allegedly discriminates against men. The singer claims that forcing her to sing in front of men discriminates against her.

Nirit Hotoveli(29) answered a request by the municipality which invited young artists to perform in private homes and present their repertoires to new audiences with municipal backing. The terms of the initiative stated that “there will be no religious, gender or sectorial discrimination at the events or in the content of the events.”

Hotoveli requested that she be allowed to participate in the initiative but to sing only to women. The municipality replied that according to the regulations, events cannot take place for only one gender and therefore “you will not be able to participate in the project due to your specific requirements.” (cont.)

Many will attempt to compare Israel to the U. S. which demands all institutions comply with non-discrimination laws when receiving public funding. For example, the U. S. Supreme Court recently confirmed this with its ruling that compelled Yeshiva University to recognize a LGBTQ club on campus. Yeshiva University responded by simply cancelling all clubs.

This is reminiscent of former Minister of the Interior Eli Yishai removed "nationality" from Israeli identification cards, when Israel's Supreme Court asserted its power in determining who is a Jew, usurping the authority of a beth din (rabbinical court). 

In the U. S., religious school have also come under scrutiny for their choices in secular studies, if they receive public funding.

Israel's approach is different. Instead of refraining from funding religious events and services, it funds and regulates them. Religion IS state sponsored. Funding from the City of Jerusalem is already used for services and events among its diverse residents, secular, religious, and non-orthodox, as well as non-Jews.

If this program is to follow a particular policy, then that policy violates Hotovely's religious rights, preventing her from participating. As far as the lame excuse that Hotovely's women only event would discriminate against men, since when does the State of Israel care about discrimination against men??

Note to self: Write about Israel's horrible record on father's rights.

מישהו יכול להסביר לי למה תלמידות סמינר אמריקאות שרות פסוקי תנ"ך עם טעמי המקרא באוטובוס?

הן אמרו לי שלומדות למבחן למחר. ולכן היו צריכות לתרגל? או היו צריכות ללמוד? זה לא כל-כך ברור לי.

איזה מבחן? המבחן על טעמי המקרא?

או אולי, הם לומדות להשתמש טעמי המקרא כמו טכניקה כדי לזכור קטעים באופן יעיל יותר? לדעתי זו האפשרות היחידה שיכולה להיות הגיונית. ברור שמותר לנשים לקרוא פומבית מגילת אסתר עבור נשים אחרות. אבל הן בהחלט לא תרגלו את טעמי המקרא של מגילת אסתר.

האם נשים לומדות את טעמי המקרא כדי ללמד חומש לבנים? אם כן, איזה דבר מאכזב מאוד! ולא רק בגלל הפמיניזם הנסתר בדבר כאן. אלא גם בגלל חוסר הגברים המוכנים ללמד הילדים בכיתה א' ו-ב'. ולכן הנה עוד סיבה למה יש הדתיים הלאומים שולחים את בניהם ללמוד בתלמודי תורה חרדים.

שאלתי את אחת הבחורות אם היא חושבת שהנוסעים האחרים באוטובוס רוצים לשמוע אותן לשיר. ואכן, שאלתי אותה כי הן שרו בקול רם חזק מדי, ולא בגלל האיסור של קול אישה. אוטובוס ציבורי במדינה "דמוקרטית ופלורליסטית" נכון? ( עיניי מתגלגלות)

Would someone please 'splain to me why American "sem girls" are singing holy texts with ta'amei hamiqra (trope, Torah musical notation) on the bus?

According to one of these young women, they had an "exam" the next day.  And they had to practice? Or they had to study? That was not so clear to me.

An exam? In ta'amei hamiqra?

Or perhaps, they were taught to use ta'amei hamiqra as a technique to memorize passages more efficiently? This is the only possibility which would make sense to me. It is, or course, permissible for women to read publicly Megillath Esther FOR OTHER WOMEN. However, they were definitely not practicing the ta'amei hamiqra for Megillath Esther. 

Do women learn ta'amei hamiqra in order to teach Humash (Torah) to boys? That would, indeed, be very disappointing, and not just the thinly disguised feminism, but also the lack of men willing to teach first and second grade boys. This is yet another reason why Religious Zionists are sending their boys to learn in Haredi Talmud Torah.

But, I digress...

I asked the young woman closer to me if she thought that maybe people on the bus wanted to hear them singing. And, actually, I was asking her because they were too loud, and not because of qol isha (the prohibition related to women's singing). After all it was public bus, and we live in a "pluralistic democracy." (eyes rolling)

She responded that if I wanted her to stop, then I should just ask her. I told her that I wasn't going to do that. It was a public bus, and she could do what she wants. But, that maybe she may want to consider those other passengers around them, and then decide what to do.

I don't know. Was that passive-aggressive?  (wink)

נאום ה"לא חמות" של הרב יגאל לוינשטיין נגד לוחמות צה"ל עורר סערה והוביל לחידוש הקרב היצרי בין שניים מראשי סיעות הקואליציה - שר הביטחון אביגדור ליברמן ושר החינוך נפתלי בנט. זה החל לאחר שבמשרד החינוך התקבלה היום (ד') בקשה ממשרד הביטחון לכנס את ועדת המכינות שבראשה עומד מנכ"ל משרד החינוך על מנת לדון באפשרות לסגירת מכינת עלי, בעקבות דברי הרב העומד בראשה.

הרב לוינשטיין  צודק במסקנה שלו. אבל אם הוא באמת אמר מה ש-YNET טוען שהוא אמר, אז ההגיון שלו הפוך, ומתאים לפורים אבל לא לעולם המציאותי.

אם ממשלת מדינת ישראל ורבניה סוף סוף יתעוררו ויקבלו את העובדה כי יש איום גדול לחיינו כל הזמן שאנחנו יושבים בארץ ללא לעשות מספיק להגן על עצמינו, אז נשים כן יצטרכו להתגייס לצה״ל אבל לא ביחידות קרבים מעורבות, עם גם גברים ונשים ביחד כמו עכשיו, מפני שהמצב כזה מעודד את הזנות.

בכל מקרה, הטעות העיקרית של הרב לוינשטיין ושל הדומים לו שהוא בוטח בממשלה, ומאמין שאכפת למדינה על התורה באמת. אכפת למדינה על התורה כשנוח לה עבורו להעמיד כאילו שהיא עושה.

כדאי לכם להבין שתכנית המכינה לפני שרות צבאית של ישיבת בני דוד היא לא סתם תכנית המכינה; אלא היא דוגמא הכי טוב של תכניות המכינה, הכי נאמנת במדינה. בניגוד ישיבות ההסדר, שבתהליך פריקה כעת על ידי ממשלת ישראל, תוכניות מכינה לפני שרות צבאית הן מוסדות דתיות ממלכתיות מובהקות (נאמנים במדינה באופן עקשני). ראש המכינה בני דוד לשעבר הרב אלי סדן היה אחד הרבנים המתנגד ביותר לחיילי צה"ל שסירבו את הפקודה לזרוק יהודים מבתיהם ומאדמותיהם בעזה. הרב סדן אמר את ההפך של מה שראש ישיבת מרכז הרב קוק הרב אברהם שפירא זצ״ל  אמר לחיילי צה"ל: לשבת בכלא במקום לעבור עבירות התורה, ולהיות גאה לשבת בכלא במסירות הנפש.

כשבנייני דירות בבית-אל נהרסו אפילו שעמדו כבר במשך 13 שנים, וסילקו את בעלי הדירות והשוכרים מביתיהם באלימות, אחד הרבנים של בית אל, הרב זלמן מלמד הביע אכזבה על החלטת ממשלת ישראל לעשות כך. הוא האמין שהממשלה שברה את ההסכמים ביניהם. הטעות שלו גם היתה שהוא היה בטוח בממשלה.

זה נכון שהרבנים אלה של תוכניות מכינה לפני שירות הצבאית יושבים במצב קשה. המוסדות שלהם מקבלים את כספי הצקציבים שלהם מהממשלה, ולכן אין להם שום תירוץ לגיטימי להתלונן.

אם לא רוצים להיות חייבים לממשלה, אז אל תקבלו כסף ממנה.

אף על פי כן, את הטעות של אמון בממשלה הם כבר חזרה הרבה פעמים כבר, וגם את הטעות להתבלבל בין חוקי מדינת הישראל לחוקי התורה (גלגול עיניים). אז הרבנים האלה צריכים לדעת את התוצאות הטעויות כאלה מראש.

Defense Minister Avigdor Lieberman and Minister of Education Naftali Bennett locked horns on Wednesday in the aftermath of a speech by Rabbi Yigal Levinstein against women serving in IDF combat roles.

Tension began to mount after the Ministry of Education received an application on Wednesday from the Ministry of Defense, asking to convene the Joint Council of 'Mechinot' (pre-military academies) headed by the Director General of the Ministry of Education to discuss the possibility of closing the Eli pre-military academy, co-directed by Rabbi Levinstein.

The Defense Ministry also announced that a letter on the subject has already been transferred to the Ministry of Education.

Upon hearing the request, Bennett's office appeared to have perceived it as an attempt to challenge him, and therefore responded in kind.

"We will consider discussing the closure of the pre-military academy Eli with the defense minister once he liquidates Ismail Haniyeh," said a statement by Bennett's office. (cont.)

Although Rabbi Levinstein's conclusion regarding women is correct, if he actually said even some of what is reported here -- and I doubt it, since it's YNET doing the reporting -- his reasoning is upside down and backwards, appropriate for Purim, but not for real life.

If the Israeli government, and its rabbis, would finally wake up to the fact of the existential threat (ie. dictating a milhemeth mitzvah/Torah mandated war) we are in, then yes, women should be conscripted into the IDF, but NOT placed in mixed combat units, as they are in now, which encourages rampant promiscuity.

Nevertheless, the primary error of Rabbi Levinstein, and of those like him, is his continued trust in the State, and belief that the State gives a hoot about Torah, or for that matter, has anything to do with Torah, save for when it is convenient for it to pretend that it does.

You see, the Bnei David Yeshivah does not have just any mechinah program; it has THE mechinah program. Unlike many of the Hesder Yeshivas, now being systematically dismantled by the Israeli Government, the mechinah programs are the quintessential mamlakhti (diehard State loyalist) religious institutions. Its previous head Rabbi Eli Sadan was on of the most adamant rabbis against refusing IDF orders to throw Jews out of their homes, and off their lands. He was the antithesis of the late head of Merkaz HaRav Kook Rabbi Avraham Shapira ztz"l who told IDF soldiers to sit in jail, and to be proud to sit in jail, before committing such grave sins.

When apartment buildings in the town of Beth-El, which had stood for 13 years, were destroyed, and owners and renters were violently removed, one of Beth-El's rabbis, Rabbi Zalman Melamed  expressed disappointment over the Israeli Government's decision, and believed that the government had violated its side of their agreements. He had made the identical mistake of trusting the Government.

Granted, these rabbis of the pre-IDF service mechinah programs are in a precarious position. These institutions receive their funding from the government, and so they have no legitimate reason to complain.

If you don't want to be beholden to anything, they don't take money from it.

The mistake of trusting the Government has been repeated too many times already, not to mention the mistake of confusing Israeli law with Torah (eyes rolling); they should know the outcome in advance.

Hey, do you think that the mamlakhtim are beginning to wake up from their numbed out, indoctrinated state brainwashing?

If only it were so.

These rabbis have made their bed, and they are going to have to sleep in them.

Forward: Women Rabbis Officially Banned by Rabbinical Council of America

The Rabbinical Council of America formally adopted a policy prohibiting the ordination or hiring of women rabbis. 

The policy announced on Friday came after a direct vote of the RCA membership, according to the organization. 

The resolution states that: “RCA members with positions in Orthodox institutions may not ordain women into the Orthodox rabbinate, regardless of the title used; or hire or ratify the hiring of a woman into a rabbinic position at an Orthodox institution; or allow a title implying rabbinic ordination to be used by a teacher of Limudei Kodesh (religious studies) in an Orthodox institution. Let's see here...

In the photo (which I most certainly will not post here) accompanying this report, we see four women.

Three do not cover their hair according to the Shulhan Arukh, and two of them, possibly all three, do any even do so according to the Mishnah Brurah.

The one does cover her hair according to the Shulham Arukh (barely), is wearing bright red, as well as clothes which are too tight, and fails to cover parts of her body which are supposed to be covered.

And these women want to be called rabbis? Community leaders? Seriously?

I could go on ad infinitum. But, it so unnecessary.

The RCA should have gone much further. But, at least this will mean that such communities, who have completely confused Torah values and sensibilities with those picked up from 2,000 years of living in Galuth Edom (Western exile), will be relegated to being called something other than Orthodox.

Unfortunately, the Modern "Orthodox" are not the only ones who have invented "female rabbis." Believe it or not, so have certain Haredi groups.

While attending the United Nations General Assembly in New York, Deputy Foreign Minister Tzipi Hotovely held a series of high-level meetings with several international counterparts.

Hotovely met Wednesday with US Secretary of State John Kerry, UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon and other senior officials, including the foreign ministers of the European Union, Jordan and Norway.

She also spoke at the annual donor conference held at the UN, where she stressed Israel's commitment to fighting terrorism.

"The world today is faced with the rapid spreading threat of radical Islam. In the face of [this threat], Israel is both committed to preserving the concept of international as well engaging in an uncompromising battle against terrorism," she said.

In the context of the Israeli-Arab conflict, Hotoveli told the forum of foreign ministers that the conflict would only be resolved when "the moral infrastructure of the Palestinian Authority has changed."

"As long as Palestinian children dream of becoming an engineer to bomb the Jewish state, all the economic efforts have failed," she said.

The Deputy Foreign Minister also addressed the recent change in the international narrative regarding Israel's rights to Jerusalem and Judea and Samaria.

"I call to restore freedom of religion to the Temple Mount, to stop the violence, to stop the 'robbed Cossack' cry of Mahmoud Abbas in regard to the Temple Mount, which he persists in inciting over," she concluded, using an old Jewish adage in which the perpetrator pretends to be the victim.

But Hotovely's last statements about Har HaBayith (Temple Mount), and blaming the victim (which I wrote about 12 years ago) sure sound good, right? Wrong! The only correct statement would have been proclaiming Jewish control over Har HaBayith.

A House of Prayer for all nations? Umm,...not quite. But, that is a post for another time. Anyway you look at it, though, HaBayith necessarily being completely under Jewish control cannot be disputed.

Oh sure, Hotovely is saying all of the right "diplomatic" (Hasbarah/PR) things. But, as long as she continues to insist on identifying herself as a "religious" Zionist, just like Naftali Bennett (Jewish Home), I will continue to call her out on her statements, which are contrary to Torah,...not to mention posing for photos with filthy Jew-haters like John Kerry.

Most of the time, I feel that the best way to describe the Israeli Government's approach to solving the so-called "Arab-Israeli Conflict" can be summed up by the following video clip starring Pee-Wee Herman
