Don’t talk about freedom of religious expression. Only non-Jews and Jewish distorters of Torah are allowed to do that. If you're a religious Jew, then you're out of luck!

Speaking of which, don’t refuse to listen to lectures from the Messianic Jew Christian Missionary. You might get thrown out of officer candidates school.

Don’t grow a beard without permission. Various bad things may happen to you.

Don’t hitchhike in uniform or post selfies on the Internet in uniform. You might get kidnapped.

Don’t worry too much about getting kidnapped, though. After a few years of torture, in exchange for your release, the State of Israel will finally negotiate the release of a bunch of convicted terrorists, who will go out and perpetrate more acts of terrorism.

Almost every hafgana ends having protesters calling members of the security forces "Nazi". Of course it is reprehensible, but it seems to happen over and over again. The protesters do it probably because they think it is a sure way of getting under their skin, with a sharp insult like that. Maybe a few of such protesters even believe it, in some demented way. Otherwise, why would some people hurl such an insult when it seems so obvious that this is a word or expression that should be kept from being abused like this? (cont.)

   LH, Of course, you are absolutely correct,...as is the Torah. I was addressing the deMOCKracy of Israel, whose gov't has Torah observance pretty the farthest down on its list of priorities.

The appropriateness or inappropriateness of the use of the term "Nazi" is irrelevant. Yet, who better than Jews, or Romani, or Jesuits, or Trade Unionists, or Homosexuals would know the most appropriate times to apply this term?

What is relevant is when the government begins to tell us what to do and to say, and begins with something the "sheeple" would easily agree with,...then starts to work its way outward.

Interior Security Minister Yitzhak Aharonovich ordered the police on Sunday to open an investigation over the publishing of notices calling for celebration over the death of former Prime Minister Ariel Sharon.

While Palestinian leaders openly celebrated Sharon's death, calling him a criminal, and Arabs passed out candies to celebrate the former prime minister's passing, Aharonovich's reproach was reserved for Jews only. (cont.)

I believe that this particular quote from the Ramba"m's Mishneh Torah is what all the fuss is about:

This is not the first time someone got into trouble for citing the Ramba"m, and knowing the State of Israel, probably will not be the last.

Rabbi Kahane hy"d would cite this halakhah (Jewish Law), and we all know how "dangerous" (eyes rolling) he was:

הלכות מלכים ומלחמות פרק ג,י [ט]...ואין צריך לומר אם גזר המלך לבטל מצוה, שאין שומעין לו.

The Laws of Kings and Wars 3:10 [9]...and one does not need to say that the king rules the cancellation of a misswah (Torah commandment), that one does not heed him.

You see, there are some Jews out there who actually think that the Israeli Government actually has the status of a king,...or at least a stand-in for one. So, if we are not supposed to listen to a king, when he rules the cancelling of a misswah, then even more so, when the K'nesseth tries to so.

You can imagine how hurt the egos of Rabbi Kahane's fellow K'nesseth members must have been, when he dared to stand in front of them at the podium , and suggest such a thing!

Gee. I guess that means these verses from the Torah would not go over very well, in Minister Aharonovith's book, either.

Especially the section which undoes Ariel Sharon's handy work in Azza (Gaza/Gush Qatif) in 2005/תשס"ה.

Aharonovich was also quoted as saying,...

"Criminal activity?" Which "criminal activity" would that be? Quoting halakhah, exercising ones free speech, or both?

Inquiring minds want to know.

This would not be the first time the Israeli Thought Police has been activated, and I am afraid that it will not be the last. As it happens, the thought police was hard at work after the death of another former prime minister, Yitzhaq Rabin. There were even mamlakhti (undying state-loyalist) rabbis in on it, happily and voluntarily serving as informants to the police regarding death parties, and why their invitations had be lost in the mail. Well, not that last part....

A source of mine personally witnessed former Israeli Sepaharadi Chief Rabbi Mordechai Eliyahu ztz"l on the phone, attempting to quell the flagrant acts of mesirah.

Aharonovich's professionalism has been questioned in the past. 

In 2011, residents of Samaria held a nighttime protest in front of Aharonovich's house, demonstrating against police brutality against residents of Judea and Samaria under his orders in early morning and violent raids. He also admitted previously that the use of tasers against Boaz Albert "looks bad." 

Aharonovich was accused last year of submitting to the Waqf (the Islamic trust) in forbidding Jews, including MKs, from ascending to the Temple Mount, the holiest site in Judaism.

The use of tazers "looks bad? Actually, from what I understand, the use of tazers hurts pretty badly, too,...for the one having it used on him, that is.

Or maybe, Aharonovich is just worried about the pot calling the kettle black.

In any event, the thought police has been doing push-ups, while we have been sitting in our complacency, pretending that Israel is a real democracy.

Ahmed & Salim (Updated)

Yet again, yours truly is late getting on the band wagon. What can I say? I do other things besides blogging, like working and learning.

Anyway, I have to tell you that the Internet cartoon show, "Ahmed & Salim" is hysterical!

Often referred to as the "Arab South Park," "Ahmed & Salim" is presented in pseudo-Arabic, with Hebrew and English subtitles. Episodes have been banned in Saudi Arabia and in the United Arab Emirates (big surprise). One episode has apparently been banned from YouTube altogether.

I believe that one of the underlying messages presented in "Ahmed & Salim" is that Arab kids can be resistant to the culture and education of violence surrounding them, and just want to sit in front of the computer or television playing video games or chatting with friends all day,...just like every other kid in the world.

Do you believe that the children in Azza and elsewhere are just like every other kid, in non-Muslim, Western OR Eastern societies?

The elementary school year has ended or is about to end. Did you get a chance to sign your kids up camp?

The Silly Case Of Nadia The Name-Caller

Nadia Matar of Women In Green is on trial for calling Yonatan Bassi, the coordinator of the Azza Expulsion, a name. That's right. She is on trial for calling a public official a name.

This idiotic concept became law around the time the Sharon government was preparing to expel 8,000 Jews from their homes in Azza and the Northern Shomron (5765/2005), hand their land over to our enemies, and open up the southern coast of Israel and Upper Negev Desert to an increased barrage of Qassam rockets.

Actually, Nadia was originally acquitted. If I remember correctly, the judge on the case also happened to think the law to be silly. However, the prosecution decided to appeal the decision (Yes, the prosecution can do that here in Israel!), as is its right, wasting thousands of sheqqels which could be used instead to help those who were expelled, and still without adequate and permanent housing.

Still think Israel is a democracy with protected free speech?

State of Israel v. Nadia Matar
Criminal proceedings 001470/06 before Justice David Mintz

June 16, 2009

On Tuesday, Yonatan Bassi testified at the trial of Nadia Matar, who is on trial for having compared his activity within the context of the expulsion initiative of the settlers of Gush Katif and northern Samaria to the activity of the Judenrat in Berlin, as regards the deportation of the Jews of Berlin in the Holocaust.

It became clear from his testimony that Yonatan Bassi did not file a complaint with the police, nor did any member of the public complain about this statement by Nadia Matar. Furthermore, when Yonatan Bassi was summoned by the police and the Deputy Attorney General Mr. Mike Blass, Bassi urged them not to initiate criminal proceedings against Nadia Matar. Furthermore, Yonatan Bassi emphasized in his testimony that he was not hurt by Nadia Matar's letter and statements in the media, which are at the basis of the charge sheet against her, Obviously, the prosecutor strenuously objected to revealing details in regard to the 59 defendants who were convicted of crimes that they committed in the context of opposition to the expulsion initiative. All those instances consist of transgressions more serious than that with which the defendant is charged in the charge sheet, arguing that these are not relevant. The court accepted the position of the defense attorney that these comprise evidence relevant for proving the central defense claim of the defendant, namely, selective enforcement of the law against Nadia Matar resulting from political persecution.

The courtroom was filled with dozens of supporters who came from near and far in support of Nadia Matar, and to protest against the continued persecution of Matar by the State Attorney's Office.

Adv. Yoram Sheftel brought those present to tears with the difficult and trenchant questions that he directed to Yonatan Bassi.

Adv. Sheftel reminded those in attendance that, for example, Kibbutz Sedeh Eliyahu, where Bassi lived, evicted him because a considerable portion of the people in Sedeh Eliyahu, as well, thought that Bassi resembled a Judenrat. Adv. Sheftel quoted from a letter written by Col. Gabbi Durlacher (Res.), a member of Kibbutz Sedeh Eliyahu, in which he wrote explicitly that the letter that Bassi wrote to the inhabitants of Gush Katif is reminiscent of the Judenrat.

Bassi definitely felt uncomfortable with Sheftel's trenchant and important questions, but, on the other hand, it did not appear that he was remorseful. He admitted that, unlike others who refused to accept the position of head of the Sela Administration, he agreed to Sharon's request. Apparently, as Adv. Sheftel hinted, that Yonatan Bassi agreed, politically and ideologically, with the very idea of the expulsion of 8,000 people from their homes and land.

The trial will continue on October 15.

YNET, the internet site for the Israeli and leftist Yediot Aharanot newspaper, reports that Child's poem entitled 'Ahmed's Bunker' deemed racist.

The YNET translation of the poem reads as follows:

Ahmed's bunker has surprises galore: Grenades, rifles are hung on the wall. Ahmed is planning another bomb!

What a bunker Ahmed has, who causes daily harm.

Ahmed knows how to make a bomb. Ahmed is Ahmed, that's who he is, so don't forget to be careful of him.

We get blasted while they have a blast!

Ahmed and his friends could be wealthy and sunny, if only they wouldn't buy rockets with all their money.

So, are there any of you out there who still believe in the myth that there is free speech in Israel?

If anyone knows the identity of this boy and his parents, please let me know. I believe we need to write letters of encouragement to them, and let them know that not everyone agrees with the leftist controlled, so-called "mainstream" Israeli news media.

I would like to encourage you to send [not spam] this poem to friends, to make sure that they know that it represents the real sentiments of a real Israeli child, writing for a school project, something which many of our children in the U. S. and other countries are doing as I write this.
