עימותים חריגים ברחובות בלוס אנג'לס, מחוץ לבית כנסת, בין עשרות מפגינים פרו-פלסטינים לבין תומכי ישראל. המשטרה השתמשה באמצעים לפיזור הפגנות כדי להשיב את הסדר על כנו.

העימותים החלו ב-10:52 בבוקר, שעון מקומי. המפגינים הפרו-פלסטינים התאספו מחוץ לבית הכנסת עדת תורה בשכונת פיקו רוברטסון, לשם הגיעו גם יהודים עם דגלי ישראל....

שכונת וואלי ווילאג׳ נמצאת ליד צפון הוליווד שבעמק עמק סן פרננדו. העמק סן פרננדו הוא אחד האזורים שבהם מתגוררים הרבה ישראלים.

למה אתם עדיין גרים שם? אני בכלל לא מבין את זה.

Anti-Israel agitators clashed with supporters of Israel outside a Los Angeles synagogue Sunday morning, according to reports.

The violence broke out in front of the Adas Torah synagogue in the 9000 block of Pico Boulevard before noon.

Video from the scene shows people in either camp trading punches with the other side. Many in the crowd can be seen wearing keffiyehs and masks while people on the ostensibly pro-Israel side can be seen draped in Israeli flags. (cont.)

Why this synagogue? True. Adas Torah is not just any synagogue, but a center of Torah learning among synagogues. Why on a Sunday? According to Breitbart...

...the activists were blocking pedestrians on the south side of Pico Boulevard, the main street through a predominantly Orthodox Jewish neighborhood in west Los Angeles.

According to the Forward, a left-wing Jewish publication, the protest targeted the synagogue in part because of an event within the Jewish community promoting Israeli real estate, whether for emigration, vacation, or investment.

Many Jews will say that this was only because of the realestate event, that the synagogue and community were not the actual targets.

Well, go ahead, and keep telling yourselves that. You have been doing so for as long as I can remember. Every time there is an anti-Semitic Jew-hating attack, you make up one excuse or another, even if it is a shooting, whether in North Hollywood or San Bernardino.

Sunday marked was the second time pro-Palestinian activists have targeted a synagogue in L.A. in the past several days. On Friday, protesters targeted another synagogue and school in the Valley Village area, for unknown reasons.

Valley Village is next to, or depending on who you ask part of, North Hollywood in the San Fernando Valley. The Valley is one of the areas in which a significant number of Israelis reside.

I simply cannot understand why you are still living there!

הסרטון להלן שודר במהלך סופרבול, משחק הגמר השנתי בין שתי הקבוצות בראש ליגת כדורגל אמריקאי.

בשנות ה-80 אותו הדבר קרה למשפחתי. מצאנו צלב קרס מצויר על שביל הכניסה ביתנו ליד המילה ״יהודי״. שוטרי המשטרה הגיעו לחקור את זה ואמרו לנו שמה שקרה לא סתם על ידי ילדים טיפשים. פנס הרחוב נהרס, ככל הנראה כדי לעזור לעברינים להסתתר בזמן הציור. אמא שלי התעקשה שלא נצבע עליו עד שכל השכנים ברחוב שלנו הגיעו וראו את זה.

אני גדלתי בשכונה במחוז סן דייגו, קליפורניה שבה היו כמה איטלקים ופורטוגזים, אבל בעיקר אירים. הם יכלו להזדהות איתנו על מה שקרה אבל לא במאה אחוז.

In the 1980s, the same thing happened to my family. We found a swastika painted on our driveway next to the word Jew. The police came out to take a report, and told us that this was not just some kids being stupid. The street light had been knocked out, presumably to help them stay hidden while painting. My mother insisted that we not paint over it, until every neighbor on our street had come by to see it.

I grew up in a primarily Catholic neighborhood in San Diego County, CA. There a few Italians and Portuguese, but mosly Irish. To a degree they could relate... to a degree.

And so, I take some issue with this commercial, and the false sense of hope is gives Jews.

Jews just need to get out of the U. S. already. I hope this widely seen commercial does not keep too many Jews in denial, nor in the hope that their non-Jewish neighbors will save them. This is no different than when we were welcomed by certain countries after our expulsion from Spain and Portugal. It was only a matter of time, before the residents of our new countries were to turn on us.

It is a grave error to believe that the U. S. is any different.

The denial, complacency, and dare I say complicity of the Jews in the U. S. and elsewhere only delays their departure for their only true homeland, the Land of Israel.

המקרה שהצית את המהלכים האגרסיביים נגד הקהילה היה סביב פרסומים בתקשורת הפורטוגלית שלפיהם איש העסקים והאוליגרך הרוסי, רומן אברמוביץ', מקורבו של פוטין שפתח באותה העת במלחמה נגד אוקראינה, קיבל את אישור מוצאו היהודי הספרדי מהקהילה היהודית בפורטו שלא כדין. לטענה מעולם לא הוצגה אף ראיה ולמעשה היא הוכחה כלא-נכונה על ידי הקהילה.

גם כתב התביעה וגם העתירה מתארים כיצד נעצר רב הקהילה וכיצד נערך חיפוש משפיל במוסדות הקהילה, בהם בית הכנסת מקור חיים כדורי הנחשב הגדול ביותר בחצי האי האיברי, המוזיאון היהודי ובתיהם של מנהיגי הקהילה. "מבלי לעמוד בסף המינימלי הנדרש למניעת פגיעה בזכויות אדם, נלקחו ממוסדות הקהילה מיליוני מסמכים והתכתבויות פרטיות הקשורות לקהילה ולחבריה, ממש כפי שעשתה האינקוויזיציה כשהפלילה גורמים בקהילה היהודית ופלשה לבתיהם ולמקומות העבודה שלהם, על סמך תלונות אנונימיות", נכתב....

ברור שהטענות בין ישראל למצרים אינם כמו הטענות בין יהודי העיר פורטו לממשלת פורטוגל, למעט דבר אחד. אם וכאשר היהודים ינצחו במשפטם מול השלטונות הפורטוגלים, הם לא צריכים לקבל את הפיצויים בגין נזקים ללא חרטה וללא צער בכלל.

ראשית, מגיע לקהילה פיצוי על הנזק והפסד בגלל היחס הקשיח ולשון הרע על ידי השלטונות. ושנית, מתן האזרחות אמור להיות מספיק כדי לתקן את נזקי גירוש היהודים מפורטוגל לפני 500 שנה בכל מקרה? בכלל לא.

A Comunidade Judaica do Porto (CJP) disse esta quarta-feira que o Presidente da República deve, em nome do Estado, "um pedido de desculpas público por todos os males e danos causados" pelas buscas e suspeitas de crimes envolvendo esta Comunidade.

Numa carta dirigida a Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa e em comunicado enviado à agência Lusa, a CJP insta o Presidente da República a avançar com "um pedido de desculpas do Estado português pelos males e danos que lhe foram causados, e que são irrecuperáveis e jamais indemnizáveis, na sequência das buscas realizadas à Sinagoga do Porto, ao Museu Judaico e às casas de dirigentes da Comunidade, com base em denúncias anónimas".

Na missiva, a CJP diz que, em 11 de março de 2022, "a Sinagoga do Porto, o Museu Judaico e as casas de dirigentes" foram "ilegalmente invadidas por um grande número de polícias, com base em denúncias anónimas de condenados".

"Os dirigentes da Procuradoria Geral da República e da Polícia Judiciária, instrumentalizados para fins políticos, comunicaram ao mundo que estavam a investigar a eventual prática de crimes de corrupção ativa, tráfico de influências, fraude fiscal, branqueamento de capitais, falsificação de documentos e outros", refere o comunicado.

A CJP diz que as "imputações que recaiam sobre a Comunidade eram tecnicamente impossíveis", acrescentando que "as autoridades sabiam que não tinham quaisquer provas indiciárias das mesmas", nomeadamente de que "os certificados de origem sefardita dos requerentes eram emitidos pela empresa de construção do marido da vice-presidente". O Talmud Babilônico (Sanhedrin 91a) conta que cerca de 900 anos após o êxodo do Egito, o povo do Egito foi julgado junto com Israel por Alexandre da Macedônia (Alexandre, o Grande). Se e quando os Judeus ganharem o seu caso contra as autoridades portuguesas, então eles não deverão sentir-se nem um pouco culpados por aceitarem a indemnização pelos danos.

Em primeiro lugar, os judeus merecem ser compensados pelos danos causados à comunidade pelo tratamento severo e pelo discurso mentiroso das autoridades. E em segundo lugar, a concessão da cidadania era supostamente suficiente para reparar os danos causados pela expulsão dos judeus há 500 anos? Creio que não.

Esperemos que os nossos irmãos portugueses entendam o ódio aos judeus no seu actual refúgio não-judaico de Portugal, e aprendam do exemplo dos nossos antepassados que Os D'us salvou do Egipto. Eles devam pegar todo o dinheiro que recevessem e partir para sua única e verdadeira pátria Israel.

Its continuation provides more details of the attacks on Jews by Portuguese authorities, as well as the "Spanish Law," in question which provides those descending from Jewish families expelled from Portugal in the 16th Century a path toward Portuguese citizenship.

Israel's representative Geviha Ben Pesisa responded to the claim with...

Give us the wages for the work [performed] by [the] 600,000 [men above the age of 20] whom you enslaved in Egypt for four hundred and thirty years. (Ex. 12:37).

Alexander the Great gave the Egyptians three days to respond to Geviha ben Pesisa's claim, but were unable to come up with a response.

Sure, the case between Israel and the Egyptians is not at all the same as what has been taking place between the Jews of Porto and the Portuguese government, with one exception. If and when the Jews win their case agains the Portuguese authorities, they should not feel in the least bit guilty about accepting compensation for damages.

First off, their deserve to be compensated for the damage done to the community by the harsh treatment and liabelous speech of the authorities. And second, the granting of citizenship was supposed enough to repair the damage of the expulsion Jews 500 years ago in the first place? Not in the least.

Let us hope that our Portuguese brethren will take the hint from the Jew-hating atmosphere of their current refuge in the non-Jewish land of Portugal, and learn from the the example of our forebears whom The Almighty took out of Egypt. שוק ארבעת המינים שפעל בשנים האחרונות ברובע ז' לא יפעל השנה. כל הפרטים על ההחלטה לבטל את קיום השוק

מכירת ארבעת המינים - בבתים ובחנויות, במקלטים ובחצרות, אך לא בשוק: אם לא שמתם לב עד כה, אזי השנה לא יפעל שוק ארבעת המינים ברובע ז'. מכירות ארבעת המינים לא יתקיימו שוב במקום אחד, אלא יפוזרו בכל חלקי הרובע.

ל'אשדודס' נודע כי הסיבה לאי הפעלת השוק, שקיים מזה יותר מעשור והוא הפך להצלחה, היא כחלק מהפקת לקחי אסון מירון, שהובילה בין היתר להחרפת הקריטריונים להפעלתו על ידי חברות הביטוח, כך שהתנאים הוחמרו, מה שהקרין אף על מחיר הפעלתו.

הדבר פוגע קשות בתושבים וכך גם בסוחרים שככל הנראה צפויים לראות ירידה במכירות. אך כפי שאנו מדווחים, על אף הנסיונות שנעשו להשגת אישורים, התברר כי השוק אינו עומד בתקנים העדכניים ולכן אין אפשרות להפעילו.

כתוצאה מאי הפעלת השוק לא תופעל ברובע ז' "סוכת ההוראה" של המועצה הדתית, והסוכות שיופעלו בידי המועה"ד הן רק ברבעים ג' וכן ברובע ב' - שם קיים שוק ארבעת המינים המסורתי.

כמה יהודים לא יקיימו את מצוות של חג הסוכות בגלל המרחק מבתיהם לסוכות ציבוריותמ ארוך מדי?

עודה פעם נראה שהממשלה בעצם לא מגנת עלינו מסכנה אלא מתרצת את המאבק הממושך שלה נגד התורה ושומריה.

In some haredi cities, there will not be a large Four Species market this year, following lessons learned from the Meron disaster.

The Four Species are used during the holiday of Sukkot (the Festival of Tabernacles), and traditionally, prior to the holiday, special marketplaces are set up to allow customers easy access to a large number of vendors at once.

One of the most popular Four Species markets was the one in Ashdod's Quarter 7. Sources in Ashdod have said that as part of the lessons learned from the Meron disaster, insurance companies have tightened criteria, dramatically influencing the cost of operations.

"Despite the attempts which were made to obtain permits, it became clear that the market does not meet the updated requirements and therefore we are unable to operate it," a local haredi news site reported.

"As a result of not operating the market, Quarter 7 will not operate the Religious Council's 'guidance sukkah,' and the sukkahs which will be operated by the Religious Council will only be located in Quarter 3 and Quarter 2 - where there is also a traditional Four Species market."

Whoever says such things is most likely some sort of robot who has been successfully indoctrinated by the State education system!

During the Meron disaster half a million were there, on a mountain. In contrast, a Sukkot four species market is a fairly small space.

On Tisha B'av Fast they were worried about two thousand Jews ascending the Temple Mount, in spite of the already hundreds of thousands of Arabs.

The report in Hebrew from Ashdodnet cited above adds: "This severely affects the residents as well as the merchants who are likely to see a decrease in sales."

How many Jews will not observe the mitzvah of Sukkot because the distance from their homes to public Sukkots is too long?

Once again, it seems the Israeli Government is not actually trying to protect us from danger. Rather it is making excuses for its continued battle against the Torah and those who keep it.

בערב יום שביעי לפסח ישבתי בבית קפה הקבוע שלי. כשאני קמתי ללכת לשירותים מצאתי את המנעול הזה בדלת (שמאלה). אמרו לי שהסיסמא המצטרך להכנס לשירותים מופיע בקבלה. לא לקחתי את הקבלה שלי. לכן מישהי נתנה לי קבלה מיותרת עם סיסמא.

למה אני כותב על המקרה הזה? מה אכפת לנו ממנעול בדלת השירותים? יש מנעולים לשירותים בכל רחבי העולם כדי למנוע ממי שלא לקוח להשתמש בם. אם זה בסדר או לא בסדר זה עניין אחר לגמרי. (ראו את ״האם אתם צריכים להכנס לשירותים?״) מה הבעיה?

הבעיה היא ששימוש במנעול בשירותים ככה נותן לעקוב מאחרי אנשים. סיסמא הכניסה לשירותים הוא סיסמא אישי נוצר ברגע שמזמינים הזמנה. הסיסמא מחובר לשם שניתן לקופאי.

ואם הלקוח משלם דרך כרטיס אשראי אפשר לדעת כל הפרטים האישיים של מי שנכנס לשירותים בשעה פלונית ואפילו כמה פעמים הוא נכנס. כבר אפשר לעקוב מאחרי הקניות שלנו דרך כרטיס אשראי. ואם המנעול בשירותים מחובר למערכת מחשבית אפשר לדעת מתי הוא נכנס לשירותים. אם יש לכל איש צוות סיסמא אישי אפשר לדעת מתי וכמה פעמים ביום הוא נכנס לשירותים.

בערב שבת האחרון אני הייתי באותו בית קפה וראיתי כמה אנשים להגיע לקופה לבקש סיסמא כדי להכנס לשירותים אפילו שנם לא קנו שום דבר, ואפילו שיש שירותים פתוחים בתחנת הדלק הנמצא לידיו. וכל שביקש סיסמא מהקופאי הוא קיבל סיסמא. וגם ראית כמה בחורים שהצליחו לפתוח את דלת לשירותים בכוח ולכן ללא צורך סיסמא. אבל כמובן אפשר לשפר את המערכת הזו בהמשך.

אז מה המטרה האמיתית של מנעול סיסמא כזה בשירותים?

כדי לתת לנו להתרגל לעוד שיטה ולשלב הבא של שליטת האוכלוסיה של כוחות השלטון.

שאלתי את הקופאית אם מערכת כזו חדשה בארץ. היא הגיבה שזו הפעם הראשונה שהיא ראתה דבר כזה. וכנראה זו לא פעם אחרונה שלה.

During Passover I was sitting at my usual café. When I got up to go to the bathroom I found this lock on the door (above left). I was told that the password needed to enter the bathroom appears on the receipt (right). I did not happen to take my receipt. So someone gave me an extra one with a password.

Why am even I bothering to write about this? What do we care about a lock on the bathroom door? There are locks bathroom doors all over the world, so as to prevent non-customers from using them. Whether that's nice or not is a separate issue. (See "Do You Need to Go to the Bathroom?") But what is the inherent problem with a lock?

The problem is that using a lock on the bathroom like this allows for tracking. The login password for the bathroom is a personal password created as soon as you place an order. The password is connected to the name given to the cashier.

If the customer pays with a credit card, it is possible to know all the personal details of the person who enters the bathroom at a certain time and even how many times he enters. It is already possible to track our purchases via credit card.

And if if the lock on the bathroom is connected to a computer network, it is possible to know when the customer entered. If each staff member has a personal password, it is possible to know when and how many times a day the staff member goes to the bathroom.

If the lock in the toilet is connected to a system or computer network it is possible to know when this customer enters the toilet. And if each staff member has a personal password it is possible to know when and how many times a day he enters the bathroom.

Last Friday morning, I was at the same café, where I saw people come to the cashier to ask for a bathroom password even though they did not purchase anything, and even thought there are unlocked bathrooms at the gas station right next door. And everyone who asked for a password, got a password. I also saw some people who managed to open the bathroom door by force, and so not needing a password. Of course, improvements can be made to this lock over time.

So what is the real goal of having such a lock to the bathroom?

To let us get used to yet another control and to the next stage of control over the populace by the powers that be.

I asked one of the cashiers if such a system was new in Israel. She responded that this was the first time she had seen such a thing. 

And this is probably won't be her last.

יום חג הפורים אחרי קריאת מגילת אסתר השניה, אני חשרתי הביתה, התחפשתי ויצאשוב כדי להסתובב וגם לחלק מתנות לאביונים.

שתי המצוות הנוספות של החג הן משלוח מנות לרענו ומקיים משתה (אסתר ט,כב).

במהלך הטיול שלי אני שמעתי מישהו להגיד לי פורים שמח. לא אליי אישית אלא לדמות מוצגת על ידי תחפושת שלי! ולכן אני עצרתי להגיד לו פורים שמח ולשאול אותו מאין הוא ממקור. הוא אמר שהוא יליד הארץ אבל הוא מגיע ללוס אנג׳לס הרבה בשביל העבודה שלו. אנחנו דיברנו קצת. והוא שלוס אנג׳לס הפכה להיות שושן הבירה.

למרות שאני יליד דרום קליפורניה וגרתי שנים בלוס אנג׳לס אני הופתעתי לשמוע את דבר כזה מפני שלוס אנג׳לס כבר מלאת יהודים פרסיים הרבה זמן ומעולם לא חשבתי על ההשוואה הזו לעיר הבירה של אימפריית פרס העתיקה.

במהלך השיחה שלנו אני סיפרתי לו שלפי הנסיון שלי קהילת יהודים פרסיים שבלוס אנגג׳לס ידועה כמלאת עובדים קשה והרבה מאיתם הגיעו לארה״ב כמעט בלי כלום כי ברחו מפרס בזמן המהפכה האיסלמית של איראן ונפילת השאח. היהודי היקר הזה הדגיש לי כוונתו להגיד את שם הכינוי שושן בכלל לא שלילית. אלא כדי להדגיש שהיהודים האלה צריכים ללצאת משם. אני אמרתי לו כמובן אני מסכים שיהודים צריכים לצאת משם ומכל מקום חוץ לארץ.

סיימנו את השיחה והתחלתי בדרך הביתה. ואז אני גם התחלתי לחשוב על חלק הראשון של משקראנו בבוקר:

לא פעם הצעתי שהאתגרים הגדולים ביותר של היהודים המגורים בגלות הנוכחית של אדום (עשיו / רומא / עולם המערב) המונעים אותם מלעלות ארצה הם העושר והתרבות החומרנית שם. כשהידיד הדש שלי הזכיר לי על מה שמפורסם על לוס אנג'לס שהחומרניות חשובה לה מאוד, ובמיוחד בבוורלי הילס, המיקום המועדף לגור של יהודים פרסיים, הבנת הרעיון הזה התחזקה לי.

למרות שיהודים פרסיים כנראה התרשמו מעושרו של המלך אחשוורוש, לא היו להם האפשרות והיכולת לצאת את גלותם ולעלות לארץ ישראל בכל מקרה, בדיוק כמו היהודים של היום התקועים בפרס הנוכחי (איראן). התהליך של עזיבת בריחת יהודים את מאיראן הוא כמעט בלתי אפשרי. יצירת קשר עם הסוכנות קשה מאוד. וצריכים ליצור קשר איתה באמצעות התכתבות עם יהודים המתגוררים במדינוה מוסלמית כגון טורקיה. יצירת קשר עם הסוכנות היהודית או כל גורם במערב גורמת ישירות למעצר בגין ריגול ובגידה.

אבל יש לרוב יהודים פרסיים בלוס אנג'לס, או בגרייט נק, ניו יורק, או במקומות אחרות בארה"ב, הכסף והחופש לצאת משושן ולעלות ארצה. ואולי זאת הבעיה שהיהודים האלה כן יכולים לצאת, אך לדעתם אין להם שום סיבה לצאת. חבל.

כמו הרבה יהודים אחרים המתגוררים בעולם המערב,גם הרבה יהודים פרסיים שכחו שלמרות כל ההצלחה החומרנית היהודים משיגים בגלות, למעשה הגלות היא עונש.

Purim morning after the second reading of Megillath (Scroll of) Esther, I came home, changed into costume, and went out to give matanoth la'evyonim (gifts to the needy). 

The two additional mitzvoth (commandments) for Jews to perform on Purim include sending portions of food to friends and making a festive meal (Esther 9:22).

While on my walk, I heard someone wish me, or rather the character I was portraying, a Happy Purim,... in English. So instead of saying the same and continuing on, I stopped and I asked where this man was from. He said he was native Israel, but spent a lot of him time in Los Angeles. We chatted for a while, and made the comment that Los Angeles has turned into a "Shushan HaBirah."

As a native of Southern California, and having lived in Los Angeles, I surprised by this comment, because 1) Los Angeles has always had a very large Persian Jewish population. And 2) I had never thought of referring to Los Angeles as Shushan, the name of the ancient capital of the Persian empire, which is well-known to Jews.

During our very pleasant chat, I related my experience to him of the Los Angeles, Persian Jewish community, know for being very hard workers, and many of whom arrived in the U. S. without much to speak of, having fled Iran during its Islamic Revolution, and fall of the Shah. This Jew reassured me that he was not making any slight at all toward Persian Jews, simply suggesting that they needed to leave. Of course, I agreed that Jews needed to leave Shushan, as well as all other cities in the golah (exile). 

We finished our chat, and went our separate ways. Then I started to reflect on first part of what I had heard read that morning:

1 Now it came to pass in the days of Ahasuerus--this is Ahasuerus who reigned, from India even unto Ethiopia, over a hundred and seven and twenty provinces-- 2 that in those days, when the king Ahasuerus sat on the throne of his kingdom, which was in Shushan the capital, 3 in the third year of his reign, he made a feast unto all his princes and his servants; the army of Persia and Media, the nobles and princes of the provinces, being before him; 4 when he showed the riches of his glorious kingdom and the honor of his excellent majesty, many days, even a hundred and fourscore days. 5 And when these days were fulfilled, the king made a feast unto all the people that were present in Shushan the capital, both great and small, seven days, in the court of the garden of the king's palace; 6 there were hangings of white, fine cotton, and blue, bordered with cords of fine linen and purple, upon silver rods and pillars of marble; the couches were of gold and silver, upon a pavement of green, and white, and shell, and onyx marble. 7 And they gave them drink in vessels of gold--the vessels being diverse one from another--and royal wine in abundance, according to the bounty of the king. 8 And the drinking was according to the law; none did compel; for so the king had appointed to all the officers of his house, that they should do according to every man's pleasure. (Esther 1:1:8)

I have often suggested that the greatest challenges of the Jews residing in Edom (Esau / Rome / the West) preventing them from leaving for Israel are the riches and materialistic culture ingrained in them. The reminder of the material focus for which Los Angeles is stereotypically known, and in particular Beverly Hills, favored by Persian Jews, simply hammered this notion home.

Although the Jews of Persia were enamored by King Ahasuerus's riches, they did not possess any power to leave their exile and return to Israel anyway, just like the current Jews stuck in modern day Persia, Iran. The process for Jews to leave Iran is almost impossible. Contacting the Jewish Embassy is often the first step, but must be done by corresponding through Jews residing in Muslim countries, such as Turkey. Contacting the Jewish Agency or anyone in the West directly carries the risk of arrest for espionage and treason.

However, most of the Persian Jews in Los Angeles, or Great Neck, NY, or else in the U. S. do have the resources and the freedom to leave Shushan, as it were. But maybe that's the problem. They can leave, but do not see any reason to leave.

Just like so many other Jews residing in the West, perhaps they have forgotten that, despite all of the material success Jews have achieved while in exile, the exile is, in fact, a punishment.

אם נשיא ארה״ב מת משביעים את סגן הנשיא להחליף את הנשיא הנפטר בהקדם שאפשרי. ולפיכך הביטוי ״פעימת לב אחת בלבד״ מלהיות הנשיא.

סגן הנשיא גם עולה לתפקיד הנשיא כשהנשיא נאשים ואז מודח ע״י הקונגרס (בית הנבחרים והסנט ביחד. וזה בדיוק התהליך המתקיים כיום. בחודש שעבר בית הנבחרים הצביע בעד הדחת הנשיא טראמפ. חברי בית הנציגים הצביעו להאשים את הנשיא טראמפ. ברגע כתבי האישום מגיעים לסנט (בית הנבחרים מציגי מדינות ארה״ב), הסנט מתחיל את השלב הבא, סידור המשפט של הנשיא. ואם הסנט מצביע בעד ההצעה של בית הנבחרים להדיח את הנשיא טראמפ, אז סגן הנשיא פנס יעלה להיות הנשיא באופן אוטמטי.

If the U. S. President dies, the Vice President is sworn in to replace the deceased president as soon as possible. And so the Vice President is a distance of "only one heartbeat away" from rising to the post of president.

The vice president also becomes president, when the president is accused of violating his oath of office and/or other crimes (impeachment) and subsequently ousted by Congress. The House of Representatives has voted to impeach President Trump. When these articles of impeachment are sent to the U. S. Senate for adjudication, it will be decided whether President Trump will or will not remain in office.

President Donald Trump has his fans, and he has his haters. But, what about Vice-President Michael Pence? Many conservative Americans know something about the vice-president. But does the Trump-hating Left? They appear to have been so concerned by Trump's conservative beliefs and actions, both real and imagined, that they have forgotten about Vice-President Pence, and how conservative he is.

In a nutshell, many believe that Vice-President Pence is a Dominionist. Don't know what that is?

This is a perfect example of how strange this country and its traditions must seem to visitors.

Oh, puh-leeze!

This is just another excuse to chip away at Shabbat, and thus the Torah in its entirety. Worse yet, those who hallow Yom HaZikaron (Israeli Defense Forces Memorial Day) more than Tisha b'Av, commemorating the the destruction of the Holy Temples, among other calamities, and the Asarah b'Teveth, commemorating the initial breech of the walls of the Jerusalem, many of whom do not even know nor care about, are willing to compromise on Yom HaZikaron for the sake of tourists, who already step all over us, not caring at all about our culture and customs.

If this were a Muslim country requiring women to dress a certain way, we would not even be having this discussion. No one would question a Muslim country's right to determine its own rules for its visitors. Female officials and journalists demonstrate this all the time on the news. Rare is the occasion when a visiting female dignitary shows this same respect at the Kotel (Western Wall).

But with the self hating Jewish contingent of the Erev Rav who wants all of us to fit in (ie. assimilate) into Western (ie. non-Jewish), globalist society, you can see it is even worse than simply suggesting that we accommodate non-Israeli, (translation: non-religious and non-traditional Jewish) tourists.

Are these the same concerned citizens who complain about the increasing presence of kosher (ie. closed on Shabbat), even Kasher leMehadrin restaurants in Tel-Aviv. Even though these businesses are simply responding to supply and demand in order to improve their profits?

Very likely.

Why Jews Should Come to Live in Israel?

They're not wrong. We can either do this the easy(er) way, or the hard(er) way. We can get on the plane, or we can continue making excuses about our children being at the wrong age to move, or needing to finish an internship or one more year of work for a better pension, and waiting around for more of the proverbial kicks in the pants Jew hating terror attacks, before finally coming to Israel.

It's not about "coming home" to be safe. Look at all the terror attacks here in Israel? It's about Jews needing to wake up to realize that the U. S. (and other countries) are only supposed to be temporary dwelling places.

It's about Israel not just being the place in history where you learn for a year or do IDF service then heed your parents' calls to stop being silly and come home to get your degree (piece of paper).

It's about Israel being the proper place to invest our energies, and not just a place where to throw our money at it to ease our guilt, and pretend that we're doing our part.

It's about time to stop being an "armchair Zionist," and becoming a real one, some who doesn't just put his money where his mouth is, but puts his entire body, mind, and soul in along with his money.

Israel’s parliament passed a law that limits the amount of cash in the economy in an effort to fight against dirty money, economic crime and money laundering.

Israel’s government loses “billions of shekels in revenue every year” because of under-the-table cash transactions, the Tax Authority said on Tuesday.

The World Bank in 2010 said Israel’s so-called shadow economy was equal to 22 percent of economic output. Israel produced about $366 billion in 2017, which would mean the economy loses out some $80 billion.

The new law imposes a limit of 11,000 shekels ($3,197) on cash transactions made to businesses, which could be further reduced by the finance minister 6,000 shekels in 2020. Cash deals between private individuals, such as buying a used car, will be limited to 50,000 shekels, a level that may be lowered to 15,000 shekels.

Violators will receive warnings until the law goes into full effect in 2019, the Tax Authority said.

The law also states that checks will be limited to 10,000 shekels. Tourists will be limited to paying no more than 55,000 shekels to buy services or assets, although they can do so up to five times.

Now we have another restriction in the State of Israel on what we citizens can do with our money, the money we work very hard to earn.

Reducing crime is simply an excuse to limit our use of cash.

And will the next restriction be? To prohibit us from using cash at all?

Already we can't pay for the bus on the bus itself with cash in the capital except for senior citizens. We must carry a Rav Kav (transit card). Why? Because it is ״more convenient and faster for passengers."

The most effective lies are always based on the true.

The Jewish Libertarian once told me that the value of the 10 Agaroth (1 New Israeli Sheqqel = 10 Agaroth) coin is actually 12 Agaroth, because of the coin's copper content.

So no matter what laws the powers that be will place over us in the future. We ought to waste these coins. Or even save food and water because you can't eat coins. We already know the value of the monetary notes.

I don't have much to add, except that this is yet another sign of Israel's, and the rest of the world's, move toward a cashless society. It is about so much more than tracking movements, and monitoring purchases, which they can already do in a variety of ways: calling history, security cameras, and GPS for tracking; coupons, contests, credit cards, clubs, and points for monitoring food and chemical intake and usage.

It's all about increasing control over the masses, not to mention control over precious metals.

Two new shekel bills in the Bank of Israel's poets' series will be entering circulation in the coming weeks, depicting poetesses Rachel (Bluwstein) and Leah Goldberg.

The new bills will be in denominations of NIS 20 (Rachel) and NIS 100 (Goldberg), joining the two bills from the series already on the market: a NIS 50 bill issued in September 2014 featuring Shaul Tchernichovsky and an NIS 200 bill issued in December 2015 featuring Nathan Alterman.

Economic officials have estimated this would be the last series of paper bills issued in Israel, as paper money is only changed once every few decades, as has been the case in this instance, and in 10-20 years payments are more likely to be made using smart phones, computers and credit cards, all but nullifying the need for cash.

הערב הייתי במדרחוב במרכז העיר ירושלים. אני לא הייתי שמה לפחות שנה כבר. ירדתי ברח' בן-יהודה, נכנסתי לחנות הראשונה לשאל אם יש להם גלויות דואר. הוא אמר לי שאין לו אבל ללהמשיך לרדת עוד כמה מטרים ואפשר למצוא גלויות בחנות שמה. הודתי לו והתחלתי לצאת. אבל עצרתי כשראיתי סמל של מיסינרים נוצרים. הסמל הזה נראה כשלושת הסמלים בתמונה (ראה ימניה), אבל מחוברים ביחד. אני רואה את הסמל הזה על מוצרים באיזור המדרחוב שנים כבר, לכן אני בכלל לא הופתעתי.

הסמל הזה של הדג הוא סמל ידוע של הנוצרים. אני ראיתי את הסמל הזה רקום על איזה תיק מחומר בד.

שאלתי את בעל החנות אם הוא יודע מה הסמל הזה. הוא אמר שזה לתיירים. התחלתי להסביר לו שהסמל הזה שהם רוצים להתחבר אלינו ולגור כאן, ו... הוא לא נתן לי לסיים את המשפט, והגיב שהם לא רוצים שום דבר ממנו, אלא הם פשוט אוהבי ישראל.

אמרתי לו שזה עבודה זרה. הוא הגיב שהוא כבר שאל איזה רב, והרב הזה אמר לו שזה מותר למכור. ואז אני אמרתי לו שקל מאוד למצוא רב שיגיד לו את מה שהוא רוצה לשמוע. הוא חזר שזה פשוט תיק שופר לתיירים. אז אני ויתרתי על זה.

כשיצאתי, אני אמרתי, "כסף, כסף, כסף."

So, there I was this evening on Ben Yehudah Street in Downtown Jerusalem. I had not been there for at least a year. I walked down the street, and went into the first open store to ask if they had any postcards. The owner of the store told me he didn't, but to continue down the street a few yards and I would find postcards at the store there. I thanked him and started to leave. But I stopped when I saw a Christian missionary and "Messianic Jewish" symbol. This symbol looks like the three symbols in the image (above), but attached to each other. I've been seeing this symbol on products in the Ben Yehudah area for years now, so I wasn't in the least bit surprised.

The fish symbol well-known Christian symbol. I saw it in this store embroidered on a cloth bag.

I asked the owner of the store if he knew what this symbol was. He said it was for tourists. I started to explain to him that this symbol represents Christians' desires want to attach to us and live here, and ... He did not let me finish my sentence, and responded that they did not want anything from, and that they were simply lovers of Israel.

I told him this was avodah zarah (foreign worship). He responded that he had already asked a rabbi, and this rabbi told him that it was permissible to sell. Then I said to him that it was very easy to find a rabbi to tell him what he wanted to hear. He repeated that it was simply a shofar (ram's horn) bag for tourists. So I gave it up.

When I left, I said, "Money, money, money."

What else could I have done?

בנט אומר ש"שנים הקהילות היהודיות עמדו עם ישראל כשהיא צריכה עזרה מהם. עכשיו תורינו לעמוד עם הקהילה היהודית שביוסטון." יגישו את הצעת תרומת כסף הזאת בבקשת אישור מהממשלה בישיבת הקבינט. הרווי הגיע ב-25/08/17, והיכה את העיר, חמישה ימים רצופים, גשמים כבדים, וגרם נזקים שעולה עשרות מיליארדים דולר בערך לתקן ולבנות מחדש.

נציגי מדינת ישראל אמרו ביום שני (03/09/17) שהיא תורמת $1 מיליון דולר לקהילה היהודית ביוסטון לעזור לה להתאושש אחרי הוריקן הרווי. שר התפוצות נפתלי בנט אמר שהכספים האלה יעזרו ל-60,000 אנשים בקהילה החזקה הזאת לתקן ולבנות מחדש בתי ספר, בתי כנסת, ומתנ״ס שהסופה והשיטפונות הזיקו אותם.

אחרי הוריקן קטרינה, לפחות קהילה יהודית אחת גייסה תרומות של מיליונים כדי לבנות מחדש את בית כנסת שלהם ההרוס.

לאחרונה ולפני הוריקן הרווי, אירעו כמה שיטפונות ביוסטון, טקסס, שגרמו נזקים לקהילה היהודית שמה. אבל כמו היהודים בארה״ב שבנו מחדש את בית הכנסת שלהם, היהודים ביוסטון מתעשקים להשאר בגלות למרות האירועים כאלה.

הזמן הגיע כבר לעזוב את הגולה, לצאת מהמדינות של הגוים ולעלות לארץ היחידה שייכת לעם ישראל.

והיהודים האלה ציונים?! בכלל לא. לא אכפת להם לעזור את היהודים האלה לעלות ארץ ישראל. אלא אכפת להם אך ורק על הרושם שלהם ושל מדינת ישראל בפני הגוים.

כנראה אתם הייתם שואלים אותי, ״לא כדאי לדון בהם בכף זכות?״

מי שמזדהה כדתי ציוני, ורוצה למסור שלטת חלקי ארץ ישראל לערבים, לתת אזרחות מדינת ישראל לעוד הרבה ערבים המזדהים כ״פליסטינאים,״ ולזרוק כסף (שלנו!) ליהודים כדי לבנות מחדש את הקהילה שלהם בחוץ לארץ, ולא לעזוב את המדינות של הגוים, ולעלות לארץ היחידה של עם ישראל, אלא כדי לעזור ליהודים האלה להשאר בגולה, לא מגיעה לו שום כף זכות ממני.

אתם רוצים שהמסים ששילמתם לממשלה יגיעו ליהודים בחוץ לארץ כדי לעזור להם להשאר בחוץ לארץ?

Bennett says that "for years the Jewish communities stood by Israel when it needed their help; now it is our turn to stand by Houston's Jewish community." The aid money will be submitted for government approval at an upcoming Cabinet meeting. Harvey struck on August 25 and pounded the city with five consecutive days of heavy rains, causing an estimated tens of billions of dollars in damage. 

Israel said on Monday it will donate $1 million in emergency aid to Houston's Jewish community to aid in post-Harvey recovery efforts. Diaspora Affairs Minister Naftali Bennett said in a statement that the funds will be earmarked to help the 60,000-strong community repair and rebuild schools, synagogues and a community center damaged in the storm and floods.

After Hurricane Katrina, there was at least one Jewish community that raised millions of dollars to rebuild their destroyed synagogue.

Before Hurricane Harvey, there were several floods in Houston, which much caused damage to the Jewish community there. But like the Jews in the United States who rebuilt their synagogue, the Jews in Houston are stubbornly remaining in exile despite such events.

The time has long since arrived to leave galut (Exile).

And these Jews are Zionists?! Not at all. They do not mind helping these Jews for the Land of Israel. But they care only about their impression of the State of Israel and the nations.

You probably want to ask me if I shouldn't judge Bennett favorably, right?

Anyone who identifies as religious Zionist, but wants to hand over parts of the Land of Israel to Arabs, grant citizenship to many more Arabs identifying as "Palestinians," and to throw money (our income tax probably!) to Jews to rebuild their community abroad, not to immigrate to Israel, but to help these Jews remain in exile, does deserve any benefit of the doubt from me.

Do you want the taxes you pay the government to go to Jews in exile to help them stay in exile?

I don't.
