Making A Jewish Holiday Something That It Is Not

English follows the Hebrew.

Shavu'oth, Ramat Ilan, Givat Shmu'el

YNET: Shavuot: Same Customs, New Approach (translation)
Water fights, flower garlands, Shavuot night repairs and dairy meals - the holiday's familiar customs have remained with us for centuries. But amid climate change, environmental awareness and new technologies, Israelis are finding new ways to celebrate Shavuot without giving up the spirit of tradition
Nitzan Pincu | May 13, 2026
Esser Agaroth (2¢):
This piece by Nitzan Pincu, with the participation of the Gad and Remilk Dairies, seems primarily to be a promotion of particular products. Surprisingly, I also happen to agree with a few of the points she makes about out Nevertheless, this is a good opportunity to point out a few notable words and phrases, we should all be aware of, or rather, be wary of.
Customs and holidays tend to evolve and adapt as our society changes. Shavuot, one of the most beloved and joyous holidays on the Jewish calendar, remains the same familiar holiday - but the way Israelis choose to celebrate it continues to change over time. These changes do not happen all at once, but slowly seep into the customs most identified with the holiday, through small choices and natural adjustments to today's life.
The holiday of Shavu'oth (Feast of Weeks) commemorates the giving of the Torah. "Weeks," for we just completed the mitzvah of Sefirath HaOmer, the counting of 49 days, for a total of seven weeks, from the second day of Passover, the day of the harvesting of the omer of barley. The commandment to bring the First Fruits to the Temple, is also performed on Shavu'oth.

Let's see what Nitzan Pincu means by "evolve and adapt," as we as some of her other choices of words and phrases.

Pincu mentions the custom of Tiqqun Leil Shavu'oth, staying up the night of Shavu'oth to learn Torah. This custom is a tiqqun (reparation; to make up) for the People of Israel having fallen asleep before the giving of the Torah (Midrash Shir HaShirim Rabbah 1:12).
...we correct the actions of our mothers and fathers by reading the Torah.

In recent years, in parallel with traditional study, parallel frameworks have also developed: content events, lectures and meetings that allow a wide audience to take part in the idea of a "night of learning" - each through their own areas of interest. These events are held annually throughout the country in cultural centers, community centers and local authorities.
Setting aside the obvious red flag of stating "mothers and fathers," instead of just forefathers -- women are exempt from time-related, positive mitzvoth (commandments), not to mention most forms of Torah study -- it seems here that Pincu puts "lectures and meetings" on the same level with Torah learning.

Still, such lectures "through their own areas of interest," could be a way for secular Jews to connect with their Torah heritage. I have been to personal stories of soldiers, olim (immigrants), which have been very inspirational. Although somehow, I do not think that connecting with a traditional approach to Torah is what was intended here.

Next on the list is the North African custom of dumping water on someone's head, and giving blessing him with the words, "There is no water, but Torah." She also mentions other customs with water, sprinkling, showering, and even water fights.

I am certainly all for conserving water. Perhaps these customs should be modified, or even discouraged, for the sake of the health of our homeland. But the alternative?
...in order to save water due to climate change and drought, many people replace the wars with trips to water sources around the country - streams, springs and beaches.
Tell me something. How are they supposed to get to these natural water sources? Camping out for the holiday? Or this year, the holiday and Shabboth? There are, after all, plenty of groups of religious camping enthusiasts out there. The Kineret (Sea of Galilee) and Eilat on the Red Sea are popular Shabboth camping venues, not to mention some forests and other beaches, with designated camping areas.

However, I suspect that she may actually mean getting into one's car on the holiday itself and driving to these natural water sources, something which Jews are prohibited from doing, according to the very Torah we are commemorating having received.
...children arrive for the holiday with a green and colorful crown on their heads, and quite a few adults do the same. The custom of picking flowers for the holiday underwent a significant change as early as 1956, with the Plant Protection Law that restricted the picking of protected species.

The solution is simple: paper flowers or dried flowers that can be prepared in advance and reused each year. No less beautiful and without the need to search for what is allowed and what is not.
Pincu makes good point here, with or without a law in place. While living in the town of Ofra, residents were asked not to pick wildflowers within the town, simply so that everyone can enjoy them, and not just the few that came to pick them all. And although many such flowers are annuals, and grow from bulbs or corms, over-picking can still prevent seed production and propagation.

But, paper flowers? Maybe. They are biodegradable, and can be educational, art projects. But shouldn't we also reduce our paper usage? The jury is out on this suggestion.

And finally, we have the anticipated, product promotion.

When it comes to profit, we jump from [possibly] driving on yom tov (holidays such as Passover, Rosh HaShannah, and Yom Kippur) to maintaining a kosher diet? Jews do not eat meat with dairy. There are various customs as to how long after a meat meal, one needs to wait before eating dairy. Although it is true that many Israelis due keep kosher, even though they do not keep Shabboth (Sabbatical laws).
The new milk is suitable for those who want to diversify and try new flavors. It allows you to enjoy dairy flavors even after a meat meal and makes it easier for those who are lactose sensitive, but it is not suitable for those allergic to milk because it contains milk protein.
How is this possible? Has the protein been extracted from that milk, and so highly processed that it is considered davar acher (something else)? Who can say?

The claim of moving forward (progressivism?) can sometimes actually be moving us backwards, to remain stuck in the exile of assimilation among the nations.

Every time someone suggests that Jews "evolve and adapt," even their customs, the motivation behind it must come into question. Is the interest here in changing customs, or is it really about changing the Torah.

Rabbi Hershel Shachter, Rosh Yeshivah of RIETS at Yeshiva University, teaches that both Torah and the Land of Israel are referred to, not as yerushah (inheritance), but as morashah (heritage). A yerushah can be done with as one pleases. But a morashah must be maintained, and handed to the next generation in tact, and not chopped up, sold, nor given away.

Pincu mentions Israelis, but not Jews living in Israel. When Shimon Peres and his Labor Party was defeated in the elections by up and comer Binyamin Netanyahu and his Likud Party, Peres as famously stated that the Israelis had lost the election. When asked if Israelis lost, then who won, his response was, "The Jews."

The point is that she would not be the first one to differentiate between these two. It is likely that this was not her intention at all. But, it does warrant a mention.

Another word to be wary of, when you see it is pluralism. Pluralism suggests inclusion. But the truth is that it is code for validating that which is anti-Torah under the guise of inclusiveness..

When the word creativity pops up, it is not referring to the creation of new recipes to uplift the holiday. It is code for allowing, even encouraging Jews, to believe that their new fangled anti-Torah concepts are Torah, when they could not be anything further from Torah.

The band playing on Shavu'oth in the photo (above) is in the city of Givat Shmu'el, a city in which everything is closed on Shabboth and on holidays. How does this city justify its allowance of this event? in violation of the holiday?.

Was it throwing the secular Jews a bone? Did a majority of a secular city council authorize it? Or are political seats of power really that valuable?

Will Jewish Americans Heed the Trump Administration and Leave Israel?

YNET: US authorizes departure of nonessential staff from Israel
State Department cites security risks, warns embassy may restrict travel to parts of Israel, Jerusalem’s Old City and the West Bank, and urges American citizens to consider leaving while commercial flights remain available

Itamar Eichner | February 27, 2026
Esser Agaroth (2¢):
When the Jewish holiday of Shemini Atzeret 5784 finished in Israel at sundown, and Simchat Torah was about to begin outside of Israel -- that's October 7, 2023 to non-Jews -- we turned on our phones and computers to learn of the attack and massacre perpetrated by Hamas along our border with Gaza.

Those of us out of missile range were in shock, but still knew to stock up, and to make sure we had access to bomb shelters. Others were on the phone arranging to leave to Israel. Some were so desperate, the took taxis to Jordan, and flew out from the airport in its capital of Amman.

How many Jews, originally from the U. S., and still U. S. citizens, will heed the warnings of President Trump's administration?

Those who left that night two and a half years ago were fortunate. They were able to return to Israel eventually, that is, those who returned.

We also saw a mass return of Israeli citizens struggling to get flights in the other direction, many so that they could report for IDF reserve duty.

This is not the first time that Jews have been faced with the decision of whether to stay or to flee. It is also not the first time that Jews were prevented from returning from vacationing abroad. Remember the 2010 eruption of the volcano in Iceland? It delayed re-entering Israel from the West by air for weeks.

The Scroll Of Esther
And so, Jews are faced with this same decision. Will you stay or will you go? Will you adhere to your only, true homeland, or will you fly back to Egypt America?

It is no coincidence that as Israel faces a potential attack from Iran, we also approach the anniversary of the attempted annihilation of the Jewish People at the hands of the Persian Empire. Incidentally, this attack was manipulated by a descent of Amaleq, a grandson of Esau (The West). For this reason, we read, "Remember what Amaleq did to you...." (Deut. 25:17-19) on the Shabboth before Purim.

Oznei Haman / Hamentaschen
traditional Purim cookies
We commemorate our salvation by The Almighty's intervention, and our victory, with the holiday of Purim, celebrated in most of the world on this coming Monday night/Tuesday day, Tuesday night/Wednesday day in Jerusalem. If there were Jews still in the ancient capital of the Persian Empire (Iran) Shushan, they would also celebrate Purim on Tuesday night/Wednesday day.

This history is all laid out in Megillat Esther, the Scroll of Esther, which will be read both at night and during the day of Purim. This would be a good time for Jews in the U. S., and around the world to review this book.

What do Hanukkah and Christmas Really Have in Common?

English follows the Hebrew.

Esser Agaroth (2¢):
There are only two connections between Hanukkah and Christmas.
  • They both take place in more or less the same season, winter in the northern hemisphere, where the holidays originated, and summer in the southern hemisphere.
  • They both begin on the 25th of the month, Hanukkah on the 25th of the ninth Hebrew month (Kislev), and Christmas on the 25th of the month of December.
I would be very surprised and disappointed, if you were unable to see that the 25th could not possibly be a coincidence. Of course, a large segment of Christians, many of the Orthodox variety, commemorate Christmas on January 6.

You see Hanukkah is based on Torah principles. Christmas is based on a mythology stemming from distortions of Torah, including an eventual rejection of the Oral Torah's authority, if not the Oral Torah as a whole.
There are three [types of] deniers of Torah: (1) The one who says the Torah is not from God, even one verse, even one word--if he says that Moshe said it himself, then this is a denier of Torah. (2) One who denies its interpretation, the Orah Torah, or disputes [the authority] of its spokesmen, as did Tzadoq and Beitus; (3) And the one who says that the Creator replaced this commandment with a different commandment, and that this Torah was already nullified, even though it is from God, such as the Christians and the descendants of Hagar (Muslims). Each of these three denies the Torah. - (Mishneh Torah, Laws of Repentance 3:17)
There are no Judeo-Christian values. There cannot be. Judaism, ie. Torah observance, is the antithesis of Christianity. This term is simly a ploy enabling Christians to latch onto us. They call it "grafting."

Instead of allowing ourselves to "grafted"' onto, and being enamored by the Christians' appropriation theft of our texts and traditions, claiming to want to get in touch with their Hebrew roots, we are commanded to keep our distance.
Christians are practitioners of foreign worship, and Sunday is their feast day. Therefore it is forbidden to conduct transactions with them on Thursdays and Fridays [and obviously Shabbat] in the Land of Israel, each and every week, and needless to say on Sunday itself, which is forbidden anywhere [in the world]. And we have this custom on all of their feast days. - (ibid. Laws of Foreign Worship and of Non-Jews 9:4)
And before anyone cries, "That's just business!" No. Gift exchange as well (Giving: ibid. 10:7; receiving: avoiding additions to their merit in Heaven).

The only truth to the ridiculous graphic going around the internet these days (above) is that the Christmas tree is Judaism on its head, upside down, its complete antithesis.

Do not be fooled by the Christians who have thrown out the pagan tree from their homes. They are even truer to the celebration of the birth of a false deity-messiah, the actual point of Christmas.

Still believe that partying with your Christian friends on Christmas is just some harmless fun?

When you wish your Christian friends a Merry Christmas, do finally realize the implications of what you're doing?

You're not just propagating a lie counter to everything Judaism stands for, you ar encouraging it.

A Hanukkah Reminder

English follows the Hebrew.

    Hanukkah Torchlight March

Esser Agaroth (2¢):
As you would expect, posts and articles about Hanukkah have been popping up, as it is that time of year. And, as usual, most of the posts neglect the most fundamental aspect of this holiday. I would be remiss, if I did not point out that Hanukkah is actually the most politically-incorrect holiday Jews celebrate. Its history and significance is also the most distorted and rewritten of all of our holidays. And, as you might have guessed, the culprits behind the revisionist history originate from the assimilated left.

Hanukkah commemorates nothing less than a Jewish civil war. But you would never know this from the presentday excuses for "Jewish education" in the U. S.

Many of today's pieces remind us of the miracle mentioned in the Babylonian Talmud, of oil found in the Temple, enough expected to last one day. Yet, it lasted for eight days.
The Gemara asks: What is Hanukkah, and why are lights kindled on Hanukkah? The Gemara answers: The Sages taught in Megillath Ta’anith: On the twenty-fifth of Kislew, the days of Hanukkah are eight. One may not eulogize on them and one may not fast on them. What is the reason? When the Greeks entered the Sanctuary they defiled all the oils that were in the Sanctuary by touching them. And when the Hashmonai monarchy overcame them and emerged victorious over them, they searched and found only one cruse of oil that was placed with the seal of the High Priest, undisturbed by the Greeks. And there was sufficient oil there to light the menorah for only one day. A miracle occurred and they lit the menorah from it eight days. The next year the Sages instituted those days and made them holidays with recitation of hallel and special thanksgiving in prayer and blessings. (TB Shabbath 21b)
But how were the Hashmonaim (Maccabees) able to reach the Temple in the first place? Well, they won a war. Which war?

Many of today's posts and articles do point out that "...the Seleucids (Syrian-Greeks) tried to force the people of Israel to accept Greek culture and beliefs instead of mitzvah observance and belief in G-d."*

But many, if not most, also neglect to specifically mention that the Greeks did not just try to force the People of Israel to accept their culture; they succeeded. The war the Maccabees won was not just against the Greeks; it was against Jews.

They fought, and killed Jews, those Jews who succumbed to, and who collaborated with, the Greeks.

The High Priest Matityahu ben Yohanan was given the "honor" of offering up a sacrifice, one forbidden in any number of ways. He refused. The honor was given to one of these Greek Jews. Matityahu killed him, thus beginning the rebellion.
The most well-known story, also mentioned in the book of 1 Maccabees, as well as in other sources, is the story of the arrival of Antiochus' soldiers in Modi'in and their request for Mattathiyah to offer a sacrifice. Mattathiyah refused and another Jew went up in his place to offer the sacrifice. Mattathiyah, in his anger, killed him while he was offering the sacrifice on the bimah in Modi'in, as stated in 1 Maccabees: "And Mattathiyah was impassioned for the Torah, as Pinhas when he did [what he did] to Zimri the son of Salu (Num. 25:6-13). And Mattathiyah proclaimed in the city with a loud voice, saying: Everyone who is impassioned for [the sake of] the Torah and who stands by the covenant, come out after me." And thus the revolt broke out among the Greeks. (translated from The Story of Hanukkah - The Real Story by Shai Stopek)
Unfortunately, secular "Zionists" took this emphasis on the rebellion, and ran with. Just like they created the term Zionism to replace the Divine Promise of the Land of Israel to the People of Israel, as proclaimed many times in the Torah, they took the fight for freedom to observe Torah and mitzvoth, and turned it into something which ignores Torah completely.
Hanukkah: Torchlight Parade:
Torchlight parades were an expression of the new character given to the holiday of Hanukkah by the Zionist movement. The fight of Judah Maccabee and his brothers for national independence was in line with the Zionist concept that calls for active operations for the liberation of the people, rather than the expectation of a miracle. While Jewish tradition emphasized the miracle of the jar of oil that lasted for eight days, the Zionist movement placed political independence at the center of the holiday. (The National Library of Israel)
The natural progression of their revisionist history would become the basis for a democratic freedom of religious expression, in spite of their being nothing of the sort, connected to Judaism, save for the expression of [kosher] customs. The so-called liberal movements of Judaism would then take their own path of distortion by co-opting the light of Hanukkah, claiming that it represents any number of things that it does not, in order to further their anti-Torah agendas.

As far as those excuses for Jewish education go, by now I would expect them to be portraying the assimilated Jews killed at the hands of the Maccabees, like the victims of Nazi persecution.

Religious Zionists joined the fray, some with the intention of damage control. Others seemed to believe that any form of Jewish unity was a positive thing, basing this on yet another distortion of Torah, ahavath hinam (unconditional love), even if that meant risking their children's spiritual well-being. Since then, they have continually attempted to cover up this utter failure.

Even Rabbi Avraham Yitzhaq Kook ztz"l, one of the "Fathers of Religious Zionism," has written of the need to hate the secularism within the secular Jew, before being able to love him, and bring him closer to Torah. Of course, anything which had mysteriously found its way into the genizah, many Religious "Zionist" rabbis would not like us to talk about, nor even acknowledge its existence.

Since forever, it seems, many Jews in Israel have been very vocal about their fears of a civil war, which in Hebrew translates as a "war of brothers." But the truth is that we have already been engaged in a civil war, one which began with our exodus from Egypt.
And a mixed-multitude went up also with them; and flocks, and herds, even very much cattle. (Ex. 12:38)
The mixed-multitude, the Erev Rav, of false converts, has been inciting and rebelling against the Torah, even before we actually received the Written Torah at Mount Sinai! Today, we continue to struggle with their descendants.

Even though Israel's quasi-democracy must eventually fall, in favor of a Jewish, ie. Torah-based, form of government over the State Land. In the meantime, let us have a governmental system, which has at least  the resemblance of fairness.

Those who oppose judicial reform, and thus protect the self-perpetuating oligarchy that is Israel's Supreme Court, those who essensially want an open-border policy for Israel, those who want to de-Judaize Israel, those who cannot or will not see the difference between Jewish Civilization and Western Civilization, all make up the current side of the poor saps we know as the Hellenist Jews of the past.

And no, I do not suggest that we go all Maccabee on them. I do suggest that we stand up, and call out the distortions of our traditions and holidays, and proclaim the truth.

Jews and Israel are not part of the Western world, nor its culture. We should not be anymore aligned with either Christians or progressives (Edom / The West), any more than we should be aligned with the Arab and Muslim worlds (Ishmael).

The Jewish People is separate and distinct, shunning both the misnamed Judeo-Christian values and the libertine, progressive path of the West. Both are reflections of our forefather Jacob's brother Esau (Edom), and not of Jacob (Israel) himself.

Aspiring to be a part of a global society is the antithesis of our separate and distinct nature.

Just like the Selucid-Greeks, Democracy is Hellenist, not Jewish.

Hanukkah does not mark any victory for freedom of religious observance; it commemorates the victory in war for the sake of Torah observance, and the victory against assimilation.

Public Yom Kippur Prayers Expected to Take Place in Tel Aviv: Men and Women Separated

English follows the Hebrew.

YNET: High Court strikes down Tel Aviv ban on segregated public Yom Kippur prayer
Top court responds to petition by Jewish outreach organization and orders Tel Aviv municipality to allow outdoor, public service to be held in Meir Garden instead of more central, secular Dizengoff Square - a compromise the city had rejected

Netael Bandel, Shilo Freid | October 10, 2024

The Supreme Court ruled Wednesday in favor of a religious outreach organization wishing to hold a gender-segregated prayer in the public space in Tel Aviv for the upcoming Yom Kippur holiday, reversing a ban on the practice by the municipality.

In a compromise proposal, the judges ordered the Rosh Yehudi organization to set up its prayer service in Meir Garden, a less central location in the city, and not in Dizengoff Square where it had requested. (cont.)
Esser Agaroth (2¢):
If you recall, last year there were clashes during Yom Kippur prayers in Tel Aviv.

What the article does not mention is that Gan Meir (Meir Garden) is the home of the LGBT Center (white building, bottom center), including national offices of various LGBT organizations such as the Agudah, the Association for LGBTs in Israel. The LGBT community in Israel is not known for its tolerance of gender segregation

The report also neglected to mention that Gan Meir is a fenced in area, with a limited number of entrance points. Gan Meir has been used as a venue for many events in the past, in which there is an entrance fee, or a need to limit capacity. This has its advantages and disadvantages. How will those posted at the access points know who is there for prayers, and who is there to protest? Will protesters simply be held outside, and allowed to protest with megaphones and speakers, disrupting the prayers?

Will the local dog park be closed off to dog owners? If so, this will definitely ruffle some feathers. If not, this could easily make the event go south, if even one dog "accidentally" gets loose, or if fights between dogs create enough noise "conveniently" at the right moment.

Even though the prayer space is reserved only for Kol Nidrei, and presumably Aravith (evening prayer), and Ne'ilah (special Yom Kippur closing prayer) Saturday evening. There is going to be trouble. I hope not. But you read it here first.
The judges slammed the Tel Aviv municipality: "What is emerging is that a municipality in the State of Israel seeks to discriminate against Orthodox worshippers." The representative of the township said: "We do not discriminate", and the judges replied: "Certainly yes." [Ofer] Grosskopf added: "The Tel Aviv Municipality will determine which prayer is legitimate? The public will decide that for itself."
Although some supportive and reasonable statements were heard in court, nevertheless an ordered compromise was the result. Justice Yechiel Kasher even suggested that Tel Aviv's attitude might be 'Orthodoxy no, everything else yes.' (YNET Hebrw above)

The Tel Aviv Municipality is determining which prayer is legitimate. In June, Muslims were allowed a gender-segregarted prayer event in Tel-Aviv.

The public will decide that for itself? And there you have it, the public will decide, and not the Torah, the conflict between Torah and democracy out in the open.

Yet, as I have pointed out many times before, Leftists are not interested in democracy; they are interested in obtaining their ultimate desire, a State without Torah. They want nothing less than a nation like all other nations, assimilation into a global society of nations. Quasi-democracy is simply their means to an end.

I certainly hope that this will be not hailed as a victory by the religious community, as it is clearly not. This is the next fragment of Torah to be chipped away from the character of the supposedly Jewish State of Israel.

What will the next fragment be to be chipped away? How will the High Court rule on this issue next next year?

What are we going to do about it?

Hanukkah: Who are the Present Day Maccabees and Greeks?

English follows the Hebrew.

Celebrating "Novi God" in Rishon leTzion

YNET: Israeli politicians acting more like Hanukkah's Greeks than Maccabees
Opinion: By definition, Judaism has many cultural variations, and thus, interpretations of our holidays; no Jew should be disparaged by politicians who wish to dictate the culture and dismantle alternative narratives
Chen Artzi Sror, 22.12.2022

Hanukkah is without a doubt the holiday Israelis favor the most as some 95% of Jews light candles on at least one of the eight days of the Festival of Light.

This is pretty much a no-brainer, considering it's the most secular of all Jewish holidays, it doesn't shut down the economy and it spreads a cozy holiday spirit in the peak of winter.

Hanukkah has also grown to be a symbol of cultural mishmash.

In the renowned Jewish story, the Greek villains wanted to wipe out the Jewish culture. Hence, for generations, the moral of the story of Hanukkah was the triumph of the Jewish spirit, of the minority culture in their fight against the imperialist rulers who sought to dismantle it. (cont.)

Esser Agaroth (2¢):
I find it very difficult to believe that someone as educated as Chen Artzi Sror actually views the holiday of Hanukkah in this way, the way in which the Oral Torah-denying, Reform Jews do in the U. S. I am referring to the blatant omissions regarding the Greek villains. The "culture" they were trying to wipe out was not just any culture, but Torah observance itself.

The politicians are acting like Greeks rather than Maccabees? How so? The incoming government, however flawed, is, at least on the surface, attempting to maintain some semblance of a Jewish nature to the State. We would have seen the continued breakdown of Shabboth observance. Merav Michaeli (Labor) would have seen to that. Elazar Stern (Yesh Atid) has been on the record as not being concerned with Kashrut over whether a restaurant is open on Shabbat. What about Shabbat itself? Does he care?

Then, of course, there are Matan Kahana's (Mamlakhti Camp) so-called reforms. Has anyone yet figured out what on earth an "emergency conversion" to Judaism is? Avigdor Lieberman (Israel Our Home), of all people, is going to tell us about our history? He is going to tell us how to interpret the same Torah which he does not keep? He is going to compare mass conversions of those leaving Babylon to a need for the same for those leaving the Ukraine under fire? Even though they are arriving in Israel for none of the same reasons the non-Jews and safeq Jews left Babylon? Well, almost none. After all, the Erev Rav has been following us around and causing trouble from within ever since leaving Egypt with us.

Artzi Sror is right about the triumph of the Jewish spirit and fight against the imperialist rulers who sought "to dismantle alternative narratives." However, the triumph of the Jewish spirit was over the imperialist rulers who wanted to wipe out Judaism, which is not simply an "alternative narrative." Israel's incoming government, which was democratically elected by the majority of Israeli voters, has more Torah-observant MKs ever. How ironic that democracy, whose origins are Greek, put such an Israeli government pledging to put anti-Hellenist policies in, or back in, to practice.

Is Artzi Sror’s application of “rich cultural spectrum” just another euphemism for permission to ignore halakhah (Torah Law). A Jewish “rich cultural spectrum” includes our varied customs, music, dance, and food. It does not include a “choice” to eat pork, shellfish, and cheese burgers, marry a non-Jew, nor pretend that driving to the beach or the mountains or the mall on Shabbat is a valid, even authentic, observance of the Sabbath. For these things are not in the least bit Jewish.

But Artzi Sror ignores all this in favor of absurd parallels. She compares the Israeli government which includes more Torah observant Jew than ever to the anti-Torah Selucid Greeks simply because they are in a position of power. She then has the audacity to suggest that today's Israelis fighting for their "democratic" (ie. Hellenist) right to reject Torah are like modern day Maccabees. They are not. These are the real Hellenized (read assimilated), Jews, and the above mentioned MKs are like the collaborators of old. The fact that some have Jewish style head coverings is meaningless.

Christmas Symbols in Israel?
Would you believe that Chen Sror actually writes:
"Christmas trees are not a threat to the hanukkiah (Hanukkah menorah) — kindergartens will keep throwing Hanukkah parties, and sufganiyot (Hanukkah doughnut) will remain a national symbol of festivity."

Dare I ask which ulpenah (Religious Zionist girls’ high school) she attended?

Now, I do not know about Artzi Sror's background, and under what circumstances her family arrived in Israel. Were they fleeing oppression? Did they come for ideological reasons? Both?

I can tell you that my move to Israel was to leave the exile, to leave the temporary refuge, provided by the lands of the goyim (non-Jews), and all of the non-Jewish cultural (to use Sror's own reference) associations which come with it, in favor of what I thought was supposed to be a Jewish state. How naive I was to think that 25 years later, I would have to defend my distaste for Christmas trees being embraced and celebrated in the Land of Israel!

Let me tell you what even liberal, American Jews called the act of any Jewish family bringing a Christmas tree into its home. They called it assimilation. Sound familiar? I certainly hope it does. Otherwise your mamalakhti (diehard state loyalist) education was worse than I thought.

What a silly little, arrogant boy, I must have been, when in the third grade in Southern California, I chose being sent to the principal's office over completing the required project in art class, which was a Christmas ornament!

And now, will I stand accused of the same intolerance for diverse "cultural” practices, which I suffered in a non-Jewish land?

And now I also have some nerve to expect the government of a so-called Jewish state to teach Judaism in Jewish schools? And, by the way, the answer to teaching Judaism, ie. Torah, in Jewish schools is not "Enhanced Jewish Studies" program by the Conservative Movement's infiltration of the Israeli public education.

How dare I be intolerant to the Russians' and Ukrainians' connection to the holiday of Novy God, which originated as a replacement for Xmas! Instead of educating these Jews (those of them who really are Jewish) about their heritage, we are supposed to accept their Christmas trees and Father Christmas like any other Jewish custom brought from anyone of our countries of origin?

Is this an example of Artzi Sror’s understanding of "evolved and birthed many different narratives and variations?”

The reality is that Artzi Sror should be calling the incoming government the Maccabees, and admit that she wants us to embrace the very Hellenism which the Maccabees fought against 2,185 years ago.

The Jews collaborated Selucid Greeks did not just accept Greek cultural norms expectations begrudgingly. They embraced them! But we are way passed that now. Hellenist culture has been firmly embedded within our own, and being passed off as Torah.

The Battle Against Sukkoth

English follows the Hebrew.

Arutz 7: Where did the Four Species markets disappear to?
Popular Four Species market in Ashdod won't operate this year - here's why.
Israel International News, Oct 3, 2022

In some haredi cities, there will not be a large Four Species market this year, following lessons learned from the Meron disaster.

The Four Species are used during the holiday of Sukkot (the Festival of Tabernacles), and traditionally, prior to the holiday, special marketplaces are set up to allow customers easy access to a large number of vendors at once.

One of the most popular Four Species markets was the one in Ashdod's Quarter 7. Sources in Ashdod have said that as part of the lessons learned from the Meron disaster, insurance companies have tightened criteria, dramatically influencing the cost of operations.

"Despite the attempts which were made to obtain permits, it became clear that the market does not meet the updated requirements and therefore we are unable to operate it," a local haredi news site reported.

"As a result of not operating the market, Quarter 7 will not operate the Religious Council's 'guidance sukkah,' and the sukkahs which will be operated by the Religious Council will only be located in Quarter 3 and Quarter 2 - where there is also a traditional Four Species market."
Esser Agaroth (2¢):
Maybe you are saying:
"They have another market. so whats the problem?"
or "Insurance companies determine their own prices and requirements. What is there to be do."

Whoever says such things is most likely some sort of robot who has been successfully indoctrinated by the State education system!

During the Meron disaster half a million were there, on a mountain. In contrast, a Sukkot four species market is a fairly small space.

On Tisha B'av Fast they were worried about two thousand Jews ascending the Temple Mount, in spite of the already hundreds of thousands of Arabs.

The report in Hebrew from Ashdodnet cited above adds: "This severely affects the residents as well as the merchants who are likely to see a decrease in sales."

How many Jews will not observe the mitzvah of Sukkot because the distance from their homes to public Sukkots is too long?

Once again, it seems the Israeli Government is not actually trying to protect us from danger. Rather it is making excuses for its continued battle against the Torah and those who keep it.

Arabs Wishing Jews a Happy New Year!

English follows the Hebrew.

Esser Agaroth (2¢):
The Almighty's Divine promise of the Land of Israel to the People of Israel (Jews) is mentioned countless times in the Torah [the first 5 books] and elsewhere in Tana"kh (The Bible). These verses can be cited a million times. Yet, so many people still cannot get it into their heads that the Land of Israel was promised to the Jewish People and to no others, not to the Canaanites [anymore], not to the Muslims (Arabs, Persians, etc.), not to the Christians (Vatican, E. Orthodox, Evangelicals), and not to the globalists.

Muslims, of course, deny this. They believe they supposed to conquer everything. Even though there are those who say the Jewish connection to the Land is mentioned in their own Quran

It has becoming increasingly apparent that Christians also believe they are entitled to the Land of Israel one way or another, with or without the Jews.

However, I would like to point out that both your typical Religious Zionists AND Haredim (ultra-orthodox) are depicted here. I doubt that the Erev Rav would be pleased to see anything even remotely related to Ahduth Yisrael (Jewish Unity) depicted here or anywhere.

Maybe one day all Jews will finally wake up to the fact that Arabs occupying Judea and Samaria (West Bank), including Eastern Jerusalem and the Temple Mount, do not make any distinctions between Jews. Religious Zionists, Haredim, Leftists, what have you, are all the same to them.

Neither do they make distinctions between Hevron and Tel-Aviv, Haifa and Shchem (Gen. 33:18-20, Josh. 24:32), which the Arabs call Nablus. To the Arabs, all Jews are "settlers" and "colonials." They certainly do not accept us as an indigenous people, nor should they.

The United Emirite, Saudi, and Qatari Arabs' recent agreements with Israel simply reflect a change in strategy, having taken a lesson from the Christians. Christians have been changing and adapting their strategies in order to gain the upper hand over Israel for two thousand years, following the example of their predecessor Esau (The West) who adapted and changed his strategies to defeat his brother Jacob (Israel) (Gen. 25:33, 26:24, 27:41, 33:4-12).

The unfortunate truth is that the Arabs have nothing to worry about. Our own Israeli Government has outlawed all of the above.

Let us pray that in the fast approaching New Year, we will have true control over the Temple Mount, and be able to execute all those activities the Arabs fear.

May all Jews be written and sealed for a good year!

Shannah Tovah!

More Evidence of Denial of Services to the Unvaccinated in Israel

PM Netanyahu receiving the vaccine /

YNET: Lod mayor threatens sanctions on residents who refuse to get COVID shot
Mayor Yair Revivo says residents who refuse to get inoculated will be barred from using municipal services, including denying their children entry to schools, in effort to curb pandemic's spread in central city (cont.)

I already warned you about the possibility of denying services to those citizens choosing not to be vaccinated. I also warned of the possibility of preventing high school students from sitting for exams, if they have not been vaccinated.

And now we have confirmation from Yair Revivo, the Mayor of Lod, a city in the Greater Tel-Aviv Area, next to Ben-Gurion International Airpot. In spite of it being pointed out to me that Revivo may very well be using this rhetoric to target the Arab community, I believe that no one is safe from having services denied, and other restrictions placed upon them. Target one community, and the precedent will invariably be used to target all other communities.
YNET: Police say enforcing virus in Jerusalem 'different' from Tel Aviv
Chief Superintendent Assi Aharoni tells Ynet police did not intervene in mass funerals in order to prevent 'bloodshed' as officers face backlash over needlessly fining people on park benches in Tel Aviv but keeping the rules lax in Haredi areas

Itay Blumenthal, Eli Senyor, Alexandra Lukash | 02.01.21
Esser Agaroth (2¢):
The government's police force minions claim to be afraid of provoking bloodshed. Haredim accuse the police of having double standards, and targeting them instead of the Left-wing protestors at the Prime Minister's House. The Left also accuses the police of having double standards toward Haredim (ultra-orthodox), and targeting secular residents of Tel-Aviv.

They are all wrong. The Israeli Government is simply maintaining its "divide and conquer" strategy.

The truth is that all three sets of protests, the Haredim, the Leftists, and the Settlers, want the same thing: To remove Prime Minister Netanyahu from power, and they want restrictions removed. The Haredim are focused on religious events, the Leftists on the economy, and the Settlers on being targeted by police. Nevertheless, all three communities want all three categories dealt with.

Meanwhile, the robotic and confused mamalkhtim (religious, yet diehard state loyalists) stand idly by, refusing to question the Government's public health policy, doing nothing to defend the Torah, and by extension refusing to question actions by police.

It was also just pointed out to me that if we "don't behave" on Purim, we'll be locked down punished even more during Passover.

No doubt the mamlakhtim will use "saving a life" as an excuse for their compliance, as well as their virulent criticism of other Israel communities.

Really? And when you can no longer use that excuse anymore, will you still stand idly by?
