Chef Refuses to Serve Alan Dershowitz. He Does Not See the Blessing in Disguise

English follows the Hebrew.

Alan Dershowitz

Fox News Opinion: Dershowitz Takes on Pierogi Politics, and Leftist Hypocrisy
Legal legend says chef refused service after he wore pro-Jewish T-shirt to Martha's Vineyard farmers market

Jonathan Turley, August 9, 2025

Harvard Professor Alan Dershowitz appears to be living through a remake of the Seinfeld Soup Nazi episode. However, Dershowitz is facing a new culinary menace in Martha's Vineyard. Chef Krem Miskevich has barred the famed lawyer from buying pierogis because of his political views, and liberals are applauding him for it. Welcome to Pierogi Politics. It is the same distasteful politics that is tearing apart this country, only with an added carbo load.

Dershowitz has previously described how his liberal neighbors, who were friendly when he was advancing left-wing causes, have blacklisted him in the elite community due to his defense of President Donald Trump. He is treated as a persona non grata and shunned by the wealthy community.

Now the blacklisting has extended to food. Dershowitz would regularly go to the West Tisbury Farmers Market and buy food from the Good Pierogi. Then Miskevich decided to join the mob and bar him from eating. (cont.)
Esser Agaroth (2¢):
Just like all of the times in the past I have mentioned the writing on the wall -- that for some reason, Jews are unable to read, nor even see -- Jews are unable to see the connection between antisemitic Jew-hating discrimination and attacks of violence, and encouragement to leave the non-Jewish lands of the United States (UK, Canada, France, Germany, etc.) and relocate to their only, true homeland of Israel.

Dershowitz is also apparently unable to see the context of the refusal to serve him at a farmers' market booth.

He is a Jew, and the food is not kosher!

Refusal to serve him at this farmers' market stall was a mercy!

But why him? He is a Jew who not only has notoriety but has been a strong voice among liberals who has maintained his support for the existence of his people's homeland.

Who better to make this point with?

A Rabbi Walks into a Café...

English follows the Hebrew.

Esser Agaroth (2¢):
The other day when I came into my regular café, I saw the manager walking around the kitchen, talking to a man wearing a kippah (Jewish male head covering). He could not have been older than in his thirties, with a cropped beared, dressed casually. After finishing with the manager, he sat down to drink his coffee, at the table wear he had set down his helmet, made for either a bicycle or scooter. I determined that he was a local mashgi'ah kashruth (kosher supervisors).

A few minutes later, one of the café's employees approached him to ask him a question. I could not but help overhearing. The relatively new immigrant who approached him asked who he should contact to work out his status as a Jew in the eyes of the Rabbinate, and thus the State. Of course, the State couldn't care less. Just come to Israel, and look around.

If this young man wants to get married through the official Jewish channels in Israel, and have that marriage officially recognized as a koshe one, he must demonstrate to the Chief Rabbinate of Israel that he is, in fact, a Jew.

The mashgi'ah gave him his number, and said to contact him, and that he would direct him further.

I am taking the time relay this experience, in light of the continuous criticism of the Rabbanate in Israel, including from myself.

The criticism includes how it deals with those desiring to convert and conversion in general, and that the Rabbinate could be less stringent. I do not share this criticism.

With of those having gone through fake conversions such as through the Reform Movement, boyfriends, girlfriends, even spouses of Israelis going through the motions of conversion with ulterior motives, and the Christians sneaking in through this backdoor, the Rabbinate must maintain its current standards.

The Israeli Supreme Court has been chipping away at the Rabbinate's power since I can remember, pushing its agenda to make the Jewish, democratic State of Israel more "democratic" than "Jewish," and fooling the populace into believing that these two qualities are one and the same. Even though they are not. A Hellenist governmental system does not equal a Jewish one.

The Rabbinate is far from perfect. But unfortunately, we are all too wrapped up in the politics reported about about the Chief Rabbis and their staffs, and statements of their politically-incorrect halakhic (Torah legal) opinions, taken out of context. "The Torah is not politically-correct; it is absolutely correct, regardless of the nuances among the various rabbinic opinions of its understanding.

On the other hand, what does not get reported are our positive experiences with its local representatives in the field, working directly with the people, like a young, casual, and approachable rabbi in a café.

The last thing we need are the Tzohars and Beit Hillels to take over and remake it in their own image. Whether they realize it or not, organizations like these will only serve to hasten the realization of the Israeli Supreme Court's Erev Rav agenda, a non-Jewish, quasi-democratic State of Israel, with everyone fooled into believing that it is Jewish.

The Beginning of the End of Torah Observance in Israel

English follows the Hebrew.

YNET: Government unveils kashrut service reforms to fury of Chief Rabbinate
Reforms would allow private bodies to issue kosher certificates, in move to combat current corruption, poor standards in system; state-run Rabbinate, which controls all Jewish life in Israel accuses government of 'war on religious services' with goal of 'canceling Jewish identify of state'
Kobi Nachshoni | 07.20.21
Esser Agaroth (2¢):
[Minister of religious Affairs Matan] Kahane attended elementary school at Kibbutz Hafetz Haim (grades 1-8), and then at the Netiv Meir Yeshiva. In his youth, he was a counselor in the Bnei Akiva movement, in the branch in Moshav Beit Gamliel. (Wikipedia)
Other graduates of Netiv Meir High School include:
Rabbi Rafi Peretz (Jewish Home), former Chief IDF Rabbi
MK Elazar Stern (Yesh Atid) former IDF Chief of Personnel
Yair Naveh, former Assist. IDF Chief of Staff
Avraham Burg (Labor), former Speaker of the Knesset

When you read up on these fellow religious graduates from Netiv Meir, you will see a pattern, and then know exactly what I mean, when I say I am highly concerned that Minister Matan Kahana is a mamlakhti (diehard State loyalist). And to remind you what a religious mamlakhti is, he is usually educated (programmed?) or just confused to believe that there is little to no distinction between Torah Law and Israeli secular law. Even though the distinction between the two grows greater everyday.

The confusion from which these individuals suffer is not actually their fault, but rather the fault of the State's public, "religious" educational system, and its systematic indoctrination. Some would even say "brainwashing." I am not saying that. But some would.

If Kahana learned in a high school yeshiva, but not at any higher level, how is he qualified to be the Minister of Religious Affairs? Because he knows which experts to choose to consult with? God forbid! And if he has learned Torah at higher level high school, then why has that not been mentioned?

The chairman of the Torah Judaism Party, MK Moshe Gafni, warned against "the elimination of the kashrut system in Israel." "Lieberman and Kahana want to make the State of Israel a state like all other countries in the world," he said, "to erase every spark of Judaism, and to prevent Jewish citizens from eating kosher."

As far as  Finance Minister Avigdor Lieberman (Yisrael Beiteinu), we all already know what his relationship is to the Torah, so there is no need to tell you more about it!

Personally, I would rather eat in a restaurant without a kosher certification, if I know the owner, than supporting a restaurant with a kosher certification from Tzohar or from any organization like it. Today, Tzohar is given permission to supervise restaurants. And tomorrow? What will they give it permission to do? The state is already on the path of leniency in matters of marriage and conversion. What is the next piece of the Torah it intends water down? Eventually, they want to cancel of the Torah in its entirety! (God forbid!)

Why is this so difficult for most of you to see that this is their ultimate goal?

In conclusion, there is plenty within the Rabbinate that needs improvement.

But Rabbi MK Uri Maklev (Torah Judaism) is quite correct in saying ...

"This is not reform - this is the Reform Movement!"

Parashat Shemini: Birds of a Feather

English follows the Hebrew.

And these you will have in detestation among the fowl; they shall not be eaten, they are a detestable thing: the great vulture, and the bearded vulture, and the osprey; and the kite, and the falcon after its kinds; every raven after its kinds; and the ostrich, and the night-hawk, and the sea-mew (seagull), and the hawk after its kinds; and the little owl, and the cormorant, and the great owl; and the horned owl, and the pelican, and the carrion-vulture; and the stork, and the heron after its kinds, and the hoopoe, and the bat. (Lev. 11:13-19)
Esser Agaroth (2¢):
The crow is not kosher for Jews to eat; the pigeon is.

The above videos were sent to me. They are similar to my kitten training videos

It seems that the phrase "Birds of a feather flock together" doesn't quite fit the crow so much. But perhaps the crow, well-known as a particularly intelligent bird, learns to follow the pigeons because humans, ie. sources of food, are attracted to them, and not necessarily to crows.

I'm not sure.

In any case, the videos are here to show the possibility of capturing pigeons easily for survival's sake, if, God forbid, a future problem with obtaining food during a state of war or similar situation.

In the meantime, I suggest that it could very well be against the law to hunt and slaughter pigeons in the State of Israel. I'm not sure. At least there may be restrictions in certain areas and/or seasons. And so, I recommend getting clarification about this before going out to hunt or even feed the birds.

More Restrictive COVID-19 Guidelines: To Protect us or to Better Control Us?

English follows the Hebrew.

Dear Customers, Due to the shortage, the buying of eggs is limited to 2 cartons of 12/18 or one carton of 30. Shufersal. (translation of the photo above)

Today I set out to finish my Passover shopping. According to the Israeli Ministry of Health's guidelines [and by law] I left the house wearing a scarf. When I got to the Shufersal (formerly Super Sol) branch in my neighborhood I found a line to get in. I did not have to wait long, but the guard would not let me in without a mask. I told him that according to the guidelines that it's totally acceptable to wear a scarf.

He simply repeated that no one is allowed in without a mask, and that they sell them three for 20 NIS ($5.52). I asked him how I could buy a mask if I was not allowed in without one (Catch-22). He seemed to ponder this, and asked me if I was interested in buying one. If I had been, I suppose he would have gotten me a package, and I would have paid for it with the rest of my shopping.

I need to point out that this guard was a young guy, not a regular guard, and was just doing his job, dealing with a newly imposed, company policy.

Luckily some other guy in his car, getting ready to leave, jumped out and offered me a mask for free, saying, "It's new and hasn't even been touched." Even though he was touching it while he was handing it to me. Whatever. He gets an "A" for effort, and the mitzva. I just put it over my scarf.

I certainly support a private business's right to make its own rules, just as I support a customer's choice to shop, or not shop, at said, private business.

But, today, the customer does not have much of a choice, does he? A customer cannot go into a Haredi (ultra-orthodox) neighbor to buy from a larger selection of products and kosher certifications, nor get on a bus to go to any other neighborhood's stores, for that matter. Why? For our "own good," and for "public health and safety."

The Israeli public has yet to begin seeing beef and poultry as luxury items. (hint, hint) After all, the Prime Minister has "promised" that there is plenty of food, including food for Passover, which requires the following of very particular procedures during processing, more so than than during the rest of the year.

The emergency import of eggs, hopefully not yet another luxury item, expects to increase the prime minister's street cred. on the world stage. Dealing with the egg mafia's shenanigans would apparently take too long. We shall see if they will actually be dealt with,...ever, and if other cartels end up rearing their ugly heads.

Wait a minute. Didn't I just express my libertarian leanings with my support of businesses to set their own rules? Yes, I did. Normally I would suggest a reduction of egg buying or boycott. Unfortunately, we Israelis cannot live without our eggs, especially during Passover when they are an essential ingredient in recipes to compensate for our reduced choice in flour options. Many Jews even refrain from using matza meal during Passover, and potato, almond, and walnut flours are expensive and and do not hold together as well as grain flours.

We humans are also lazy, and would rather not bother searching for egg substitutes. Now is your cue to call up that vegan friend of yours, you haven't spoken to for a while.

So, kind of coincidental that all of sudden a couple weeks before Passover, there is an egg shortage, right? No. I do not believe for a minute this was a coincidence, panic buying notwithstanding.

What will be the next shortage we'll have? What will be the next excuse to increase the restrictions on our movement? Which community will be used next as the next scapegoat?

Or are "they" actually doing us a favor (whether they realize it or not) by teaching to us to ready for something worse they expect on the horizon. Or rather, is The Almighty using "them" to help us get ready for something worse on the horizon.

Only time will tell. But, will you be ready?

A petition was filed with the High Court against the Chief Rabbinate of Israel, in which petitioner requests that, in light of the Corona epidemic, the Honorable Court order "to urgently give a warrant ordering the Respondents to explain why they would not immediately declare the addition of the year in order to set another month of Adar (II) and thereby postpone the month of Nissan thirty days, for all that implies." pic.twitter.com/Jt5EN6Vk6b — ארי קלמן Ari Kalman (@aronkalman1) March 19, 2020
Esser Agaroth (2¢):
This may seem like a joke to some. But please wary of such things. This lawsuit reminds us of the on-going battle between Torah and State.

This is not the first the High Court has been asked to rule, and subsequently did rule, on halakhic (Torah legal) matters, it has no business, and certainly no qualifications to rule on. And they have gotten away with it, thanks to the mamlakhtim (religious, diehard State loyalists). Remember the dispute between Rabbi Avraham Sherman and Rabbi Chaim Drukman over rabbinical courts overseeing conversions? What about the "messianic" owned bakery's kosher certification in Ashdod or the kosher certification of a meat packing company?

This is all about chipping away at the Torah, and its influence within the State of Israel. It puts into question the power of the Chief Rabbinate, which receives its salaries from the government, not to mention rabbis in general. Unfortunately, there are those rabbis who are only interested in power, and maintaining it over their followers.

But the targeting rabbis is only secondary. The primary goal of the High Court is to put the Torah on trial, for its "crimes" against secular democracy, encouraging their minions, secular and Western-assimilated Israelis to keep up their rally against the Torah.

The Israeli Government sees its greatest threat as those who hold The Holy One, Blessed Be He, and His Holy Torah to be higher in authority than the itself.

At the very least, this Torah-observant Jew should have submitted his petition to the Chief Rabbinate itself, not to a secular court, asking it to pressure the Rabbinate.

European Rabbis are Right,...for Once,...Sort of

YNET: European rabbis slam EU court ruling on religious symbol bans
Court of Justice sets precedent for enabling employers to ban visible religious symbols in the workplace, in a ruling related to dismissal of 2 women for refusing to remove headscarves; move sparks harsh words from European chief rabbi: 'Europe's faith communities are no longer welcome.'
Reuters and YNET, 14.03.17
Chief Rabbi Goldschmidt, President of the Conference of European Rabbis, issued a scathing statement slamming Tuesday's first ruling by the European Union's top court on the issue of women wearing Islamic headscarves at work.
According to the precedent-setting decision, employers may bar staff from wearing visible religious symbols.

Rabbi Pinhas Goldschmidt at the Conference of European Rabbis
“This decision sends signals to all religious groups in Europe. With the rise of racially motivated incidents and today’s decision, Europe is sending a clear message; its faith communities are no longer welcome,” the statement read.
“Political leaders need to act to ensure that Europe does not isolate religious minorities and remains a diverse and open continent.” (cont.)
Esser Agaroth (2¢):
Although Rabbi Goldschmidt comes off as a defender of Islam, he is right about one thing. If Muslims lose any of their religious rights, Jews will be next.

Already in France, Jews wear baseball caps and other nondescript head coverings, not to mention the traditional, French beret, in order to maintain the Jewish custom of covering ones head. Religious Jewish women have done the same, but French style hats a couple of sizes too large, so that they can be pulled down lower than the usual style in order fully to cover their hair.

Jews have been doing this throughout history, in order not to stand out, and risk ostracization, beatings, and even death at the hands of the residents of their non-Jewish host countries.

American Jews have already been down this road. Even as recently as the 1990's a Jewish postal worker in "liberal," Southern California fought, and lost, for the right to wear a kippah (traditional Jewish men's head covering) to work. Meanwhile, in U. S. prisons the fight continues to obtain kosher food for Jewish prisoners, while Muslim prisoners already enjoy their hallal certified meals without any worries.

Unfortunately, most American Jews will not make the connection that Rabbi Goldschmidt has.

I will go further and suggest that not only will anti-Semitism rise, the Jews will also be blamed for the loss of religious rights of Muslims. Even though Jews are their biggest cheerleaders. This should come as no surprise to anyone, as getting stabbed in the back by those we have aided is embedded in the history of our people.

Rabbi Goldschmidt himself still has not made the connection that the atmosphere toward "faith communities," is a signal for all Jews to leave Europe, and for Jewish leaders like himself to encourage the exodus, and subsequent journey back to the only home of the Jewish People, Eretz Yisra'el.

European Rabbis are right,...for once,...sort of.

Rash"i suggests the possibility that only 20% of Israel left Egypt, at the time of our great exodus from there. How so?
But God led the people about, by the way of the wilderness by the Red Sea; and the children of Israel went up (hamushim) armed out of the land of Egypt. (Ex. 13:18)
On the word hamushim, he offers an alternative translation to "armed."
Another thing: one fifth of five [fifths] left, and four parts (fifths) died in the [plague of the] three days of darkness.
Several sources, such as the Kol HaTor, suggest parallels between our exodus from exile in Egypt and how we will complete our exodus from the current exile of Edom, including the possibility that only four fifths of us will make it out this time as well.

Who knows? There might even be three days of darkness. However, this time final time around, will these days of darkness necessarily be physical?

Instead, they could be spiritual, and unfortunately, the may have already begun for European Jewry.

May our recalling of the exodus from Egyptian exile this Pesah (Passover) inspire those Jews still entrenched in Europe, to complete their own Exodus.

Worse yet, is that Jews actually care what those outside of Israel think, and that we allow such things to affect us (ie. national co-dependence!), instead of standing on our own feet, and caring about what The Holy One, Blessed Be He thinks of us.

Impractical? Unrealistic?

Either the First and Second Temples existed, or they didn't (חו״ח).

Either the Temple Mount, and the rest of Eretz Yisrael, belongs to the Jewish People, or is doesn't.

Either the Torah (...the ENTIRE Torah, Written AND Oral) is the truth, or it is not.

Either HaShem is on our side, or He is not.

There isn't any grey area here. It is all black and white.

What You didn't Know about the Terrorist Attack in Tel-Aviv

Warning: The following video is of the terrorist attack which took place in Tel-Aviv about a week ago.

The English version of this post follows the Hebrew below.

1.  The place where seven Jews were murdered, and another seven were wounded is located very close to an IDF base, and not just any base, but a fairly well-known base, Mahane Rabin, better known as "The Kiryah." And so, I would like to know how terrorists were able to come from the Hevron area, and get this close to a rather important IDF base, known for intelligence collection, in the middle of Tel-Aviv. (See the above map)

2. The location of the terrorist attack, Sarona Market, opened less than a year ago. It is a very popular and trendy place for hanging out, even on Shabboth, shopping for food, including pork and shellfish, clothes, and additional items. No, I am not going to say that the attacked occurred as Divine punishment for such transgressions. Not at all. Rather, I will tell you how frustrated I am. Rockets launched from Azza (Gaza) by Hamas and other terrorist organizations do not wake up the Leftists who go to places like this. So, it doesn't appear that another terrorist attack will either. How many shooting and stabbing attacks have there been? Countless. But, they haven't succeeded in waking up these Tel-Aviv Jews. Rather, these Tel-Aviv Jews keep making the same mistake over again. And what is this mistake? They believe that the Arabs will eventually change, and stop murdering Jews. More problematic, the residents of Tel-Aviv refuse to believe the Arabs regard them as "settlers" in their land, just like the Jews in Hevron and Beth-El.

Arabs in Gaza celebrating the murder of Jews
3. The Israeli Government continues to allow Arabs who reside in Yehudah and Shomron (Judea and Samaria) to leave in order to work and even to travel around the rest of Israel. Buses filled with Arabs from Ramallah and Hevron area regularly visit the beach in Hertzliya, where they act out all sorts of strategies to intimidate the Jews there. Why? They are entitled to wander around Israel, even if this risks the life of only one Jew? Should Jews, who pay taxes for beach maintenance, have to be afraid in their own land? Not that long ago, this was not the case, no matter how many Arabs came to the beach. Needless to say those Arabs did not stay at the beach for very long. Also, we should remember that Arabs like these celebrate every time a Jew is murdered.

4. To learn what "Israeli" Arabs think about terrorist attacks against Jews, such as these, watch the second video above.

Jewish BDS

In answer to BDS (Boycott, Divest, Sanction) against Israel, which Jews around the world seem to be freaking out about, and begging the goyim to love us, through Hasbarah nonsense, I suggest that we just give them as taste of their own medicine.

We could be more self-sufficient than we think, if we would only stop exporting what we need, such as food from the southern end of Israel, exempt from shemitah (sabbatical year), and other agricultural laws.

Instead of selling telephone and computer parts, desert irrigation and solar power technologies and products for cash or credit, we could get guarantees of sales of food and other things which really need. They reneg on their agreements with us, then they do not get their technologically wondrous, adult toys and toy parts.

Of course, this is all just a pipe dream, as the Israeli Government seems to have other, totally co-dependent and otherwise ridiculous, strategies in mind.

So, if the government is not going to help us do something productive, then why don't we just implement our own Jewish BDS (ie. Torah BDS) against those who are the real problem, those who pander to the non-Torah standards of the "international community?" This includes many Jews in Israel who do not realize that BDS is actually doing the Jewish People a favor, as well as the "Jewish" supporters of BDS against Israel, who are doing so for completely the wrong reasons.

So, who should Jews Boycott, Divest, and Sanction?

Lo Techonem - Do not have mercy (Deut. 7:2)
I have two, local choices for health food: Olam HaTeva (Nature World), owned by a religious family, or the store which employs an Arab, both on Agrippas Street near the Shuq. Which do you suppose I patronize?

You see, if Jews believe that Israel is now in a position of power (יד ישראל תקיפה), within its own Land, then we are not to make it easy for any non-Jews to reside here, save for gerei toshav (resident aliens). This is the position of the Ramba"m (Mishneh Torah, Hil. A"Z, ch. 10).

How anyone identifying himself as a "Religious Zionist" could possible think the Israel is not in such a position of power, I have no idea.

Israel's Chief Rabbinate recently demonstrated its understanding of this halakhah (Torah Law) by granting one non-Jew the status of ger toshav (דעת הראב״ד), desiring someone non Jewish to whom it would be permissible halakhically (according to Torah Law) to sell parts of Eretz Yisra'el (Land of Israel), in order to exempt these Lands from keeping the Laws of Shemitah, the Sabbatical Year (ie. Heter Mekhirah).

Even from a Western perspective, it seems that Jews have bought in to the same old double standards the goyim continue to preach.

LGBTQ's support LGBTQ businesses.

African Americans support African American businesses as a form of self-empowerment.

So do women, and in particular feminists.

But, when a Jew wants to support a Jewish-owned business, then all of a sudden, it's racist.

And, when Muslims and Arabs support Muslim and Arab businesses, it is somehow justified, and we are not allowed to call it discriminatory?

Tura Winery and the P'sagot Winery benefit from Christian "volunteers." Of course, they say that they are committed not to missionize Jews. When they praise God while picking grapes and olives, just exactly who do you think they have in mind? Why, their false deity (and/or messiah and/or intercessor and/or rebbe) of course! Take your pick. It doesn't matter. That's because they have changed their strategies,...for now.

They want a foothold on our Land, believing that they are the true inheritors of The Almighty's favor, and thus Eretz Yisr'ael (Land of Israel). Some believe this inheritance comes with the Jews; some believe it comes without. ( They just a foothold in our Land, and to get some pieces for themselves. Boy do they have a rude awakening coming! LOL!

More and more, Christian missionaries are being protected by the spirit of the State of Israel's spirit of democratic, "freedom of religious expression."

Of course, this deMOCKratic protection applies to everyone, except for those Jews the government feels threatened by, and thus calls "extremists," as they dare to hold Torah Law above that of the man-made mishmash of laws from the Ottoman Empire and British Mandate.

No one, however, is protected from the choices we make as to where we spending our hard earned sheqqels.

Do your own Internet search for "Jewish Labor Israel" and you will see just how scathing the opposition is against this one time source of Jewish national pride.

Although demonized as racist, Avodah Ivrith (Jewish Labor) is a highly effective form of BDS.

For referrals of Jewish owned businesses providing the products and services you need in your area of Israel, visit the Moqed Avodah Ivrith website in Hebrew or contact them in English or Hebrew by phone 1-599-588-588 or by e-mail mokedai@gmail.com.

Treif Sellers
In Jerusalem, there are more stores on Agrippas Street in the area of the Shuq, selling treif (non-kosher food) than ever, not to mention those butcher shops in the center of town!

Need something kosher, an imported product perhaps, which they happen to sell there? Don't think that you can get anywhere else? Well, then take the extra time, and the extra money to buy it at a store which does not sell treif, and which is not open on Shabbath!

Can't find one? Then live without it.

I mean, why on earth would any Religious Jew patronize a store which sells treif ??!!

Why don't you ask the Religious Jew who posted his excitement about "Tel-Aviv's newest hot spot" via Twitter. You can also ask him why he would give them the free publicity.

Prosciutto and shellfish,...but also a selection of kosher products!

Shabbath Violators
I obtained the following list of restaurants opened on Shabbath in Jerusalem from TimeOut טיים אאוט which we should also boycott, except for using it to keep an eye on these issues, I suppose.
...not everything is closed for the Sabbath.

Café Bezalel, Bezalel St. 12
Bezalel is a new entry to the list of Jerusalem businesses which are open Saturdays, and we're already asking ourselves how we ever managed without it. The café, located opposite the building that used to house the founder of the Bezalel Academy of Arts and Design, is a young and vibrant coffee house. Its menu changes throughout the day and fits any and all meals. On Fridays the external seating area becomes part of the Bezalel arts and crafts fair, filling the street with people and colors.

Talbiya, Chopin St. 3
Israeli top chefs Assaf Granit, Yossi Elad and Uri Navon long ago established the famous Machne Yuda group, which operates restaurants all over the city. Though the eponymous flagship restaurant is not open on weekends, the group's Mona and Hasadna certainly are. Now the two are joined by a third sister, Talbiya. Talbiya is defined as a wine bar and functions during the day as a café. Next to your coffee you can enjoy freshly made baked goods, while next to your wine you can choose from various elegant dishes by chef Nir Levi. The meticulously designed space and selection of seating options make Talbiya the perfect host for your weekend.

Zoni, Yoel Moshe Salomon St. 15
Zoni is your regular around-the-clock brasserie, except for the view out the windows: instead of Paris you get to look out at the picturesque back streets of Nahalat Shiv'a. The atmosphere inside, however, still maintains a certain European air, with black leather seats, dark hardwood floors, a wide bar and waiters in fine uniform. The menu, which changes between breakfast, lunch and dinner, is similarly full of treats from far away lands. Recommendations are endless but you will be wise to keep one thing in mind: the french toast – available in all three menus – is by itself reason enough for pilgrimage.

Uganda Bar, Aristobulus St. 4
...Uganda is simultaneously a bar, a café, a hummus joint, a music venue and a CD, vinyl and comic book store. Its different parts all fit in harmoniously under a single roof while still making you feel right at home. Tourists, students, youth and adults all fill the space from noon to the following morning, with the atmosphere constantly changing.

Beit HaKava, Yanay St. 3
“Every drink has its place,” wrote S. Y. Agnon, nearly prophesying this unique café, which in turn is named in an appropriately Agnonesque fashion. Decorating the walls are items as carefully chosen as the dishes on the menu. Some of the dishes are regular while others change daily, and all are written casually on the chalkboard. The small café is located in the renovated Yanai street, hiding from the ever noisy Shlomzion street like a well kept secret. Beit HaKava is slowly turning into a true weekend gem and was recently joined by another weekend-strong café, Etz Cafe.

Adom, David Remez St. 4
The opening of the First Station Plaza is great news for Jerusalem weekenders, as it does not entirely shut down for Shabbath. Adom, which became a serious establishment since its opening in 2001, relocated to First Station from its previous location at Feingold Yard. Here it continues to host guests even – or maybe especially – on weekends. You will feel truly privileged to sit in Adom's sleek space and glance at their menu, which specializes in fresh seafood and fish. Completing the culinary experience is a selection of meats, pastas, salads and a wide array of wines.

Cafe Smadar, Lloyd George St. 4
On weekends the German Colony gets to show its quiet side, as the businesses on Emek Refaim street close shop and all that's left is a green and peaceful residence area. One who seeks carefully will be reworded with finding Cade Smadar...

Link, HaMa'alot St. 3
...Surrounded by a green yard and with plenty of seating arrangements, this bar-restaurant offers a lovely pastime option for the whole family...
Aroma Espresso Bar
Notice some of the words I highlighted, some probable code for treif, as well as suggestions of being in a hidden away location. Good! These restaurants should be embarrassed, as should be their customers!

Personally, I would add Aroma to this list. The Aroma in town on Hillel Street and the one on Hebrew University, Mt. Scopus are also open on Shabbath, not to mention countless other branches.

I was pretty surprised that Aroma, with its crappy coffee, and even worse service, but which everyone slobbers over anyway, did not make the top ten favorite Shabbath hangouts.

Besides boycotting such places, operating on Shabbath, some have suggested more active protesting as well.

Many have heard of Haredi protests against businesses open on Shabbath. But, Haredim are not the only ones organizing protesting. There have been public tefilloth Shabbath (Shabbath prayers) outside of a restaurants on Azza Street and Betzalel Street.

By the way, do you want to see a movie? Well, don't see it at Yes Planet. No doubt you have heard of the complex's recent, grand opening, and commitment to operating on Shabbath.

What's the problem if you see a movie during the week? The problem is that you are supporting a business which is open on Shabbath., and thus encouraging countless Jews to violate Shabbath.

Yes Planet - Jerusalem
Nir Barakat
Mayor of Jerusalem
Last, but definitely not least on the Jewish BDS list is the Mayor of Jerusalem himself, Nir Barakat.

How was this Kadima Party, and now independent, mayor was able to get elected in a city with a majority of voters registered with United Torah Judaism, Likud, and Jewish Home parties?

...An internal, Haredi squabble and left-wing, anti-Haredi fear mongering targeting the Religious Zionist voters in the city.

And, now, we see even see Haredi politicians willing to settle for a compromise on the Yes Planet Shabbath debacle!

Mayor Barakat does not just support the Yes Planet Mall, and its operation on Shabbath, he supports more than a few initiatives which contradict the Torah.

You see, it is crucial to keep in mind that the Torah is not just about "Shabbos and Kashrus shailos;" it concerns every facet of a Jew's life.

Do you want Torah or democracy? You do not honestly believe that you can have both, do you?

Swiss Jews, Will You Heed the Latest Warning?

There had been a lot of buzz, leading up to yesterday's referendum in Switzerland, including from The Jewish Libertarian.

The referendum failed, which definitely has implications for Swiss Jews.
Zero Hedge: Swiss Gold Referendum Fails: 78% Vote Against "Protecting The Country's Wealth"

Whether as a result of an unprecedented scare campaign by the Swiss National Bank (most recently reinforced by Citigroup), or due to confidence that Swiss gold is as safe abroad as it is at home, or simply due to good old-fashioned "hanging chads", today's most awaited event has come and gone and the result - according to early projections by Swiss television SRF - is that the Swiss population overwhelmingly rejected a referendum to force the Swiss National Bank to hold some 20% of its reserves in gold in a landslide vote, with about 78% voting against what AP politely termed "protecting the country's wealth by investing in gold." So, what does this have to do with the price of tea in China? Or, for that matter, the safety of Swiss Jews?
Forbes: The Swiss Vote Against Hoarding Gold And Capping Immigration
Frances Coppola, November 30, 2014

It was a near thing. Well, not very near, actually. Zero Hedge reports that not a single Swiss canton voted in favour of Ecopop’s insane scheme.

The scheme had three components:
The Swiss central bank was to be forced to hold 20% of its reserves in gold and would be prevented from ever selling any. All Swiss gold held abroad was to be physically repatriated to Switzerland.

There would be a strict limit on immigration set at 0.2% of the resident population, or about 16,000 people

Tax breaks for wealthy foreigners who live in Switzerland but do not work there would be ended.
At first sight, these proposals don’t seem to be connected. But they are. They all add up to the same thing. Switzerland was to protect its wealth, land, environment, public services [tick all that apply] from foreigners.

This is a Swiss nationalist agenda, similar to the nationalist agendas of other fringe parties in Europe such as the UK’s UKIP. We are seeing a significant rise in nationalism across the whole of Europe at the moment.

Growth of nationalism in Eurozone periphery countries is perhaps understandable: unemployment there is at Depression-era levels and there is no end in sight to the interminable austerity imposed by their paymasters in Brussels. (cont.)

Esser Agaroth (2¢):
When in doubt, blame nationalism....
...(Forbes) So the overwhelming decision by the people of Switzerland not to close their borders and hoard their wealth will come as a huge relief to several groups of people.
Well, one group of people, in particular, comes to mind. Although, European Jews are threaten by nationalism, they are threatened by lenient immigration laws as well. After all, who is immigrating to Europe? Muslims.

In 1683, Muslims were pushed back, preventing them from taking Vienna. However, now, the Muslims have long since taken another strategy. Playing on the European's political-correctness and naivete, Muslims have been pouring into Europe, without having to pass through the gates of Vienna.

Getting beaten up from both sides will seem like children joking around on the playground, when the Jews truly get stuck between the Muslim sleepers and newcomers on one side, and the Nationalists on the other.

Of course, in traditional Muslim and European fashion, it will the "Jews' fault."

It reminds me of my grandmother's recounting of her pre-WWI childhood in Galecia (Southern Poland): The Kaiser's forces storming across her parents farm one day, and the Cossacks storming across it in the opposite direction the next day.

Only this time, Europe will become even more of a nightmare.

Here are just a few examples from Switzerland's recent past, of which Jews should expect a repeat performance. All I hear from Swiss Jews is how expensive it is to live there, not to mention the lousy job market. In addition, Shehitah (kosher slaughter) has been banned in Switzerland since 1893, forcing Jews to important kosher meat.

I have absolutely no idea why they insist on remaining there.

Let's hope that they heed the latest warning, and pick up and move to their true homeland.
JTA: Fires Strike Synagogue, Store in Resort Town in Switzerland
JTA and Peter Ephross, March 16, 2005

This week’s fires in a synagogue and a Jewish-owned clothing store here are being called rare acts of anti-Semitic violence in Switzerland. “This kind of violence against Jewish institutions in Switzerland is new. Nobody remembers a similar act,” said Thomas Lyssy, a spokesman for the Swiss Federation of Jewish Communities.

Police are investigating both cases of suspected arson. Both fires were set on Sunday night and the leader of the local Jewish community said both were acts of anti-Semitism.

The mayor of the city, Giorgio Giudici, condemned the attacks.

The fire at the synagogue in the resort town near the Italian border caused considerable damage, destroying the library before firefighters put it out.

The store was completely destroyed, Etti Stein told JTA from Los Angeles.

Stein’s sister, Pagit Schreiber, lives in Lugano. Her in-laws own the store.

“She’s very, very upset,” Stein said.

Hans Stutz of the Foundation Against Racism and Anti-Semitism told the Swiss Telegraphic Agency that this was the first fire set in a Swiss synagogue in the last 25 years.

But synagogues have been smeared with anti-Semitic slogans and swastikas: in Lausanne in April 2003, in Geneva in February 1998 and in Lugano in 1996. The worst anti-Semitic incident occurred in 2001 in Zurich, when a rabbi was stabbed by an unknown assailant.

Eli Bollag, the chairman of the Jewish community in Lugano and a member of the City Council, said that he was sad and angry over the fires: sad about the stupidity that lies at the origins of the fires and angry at the cowardice of the perpetrators, who chose to attack such a small Jewish community.

Orthodox Jews have lived in Lugano since World War I. At the end of World War II, the city was home to more than 1,000 refugees.

There are now only about two dozen members of Lugano’s Jewish community, and about 500 Jews in the region.

Eric Yoffie and the Reform Movement: Delusional or Evil?

JPost.com: US Jews not threatened by anti-Semitism, former Reform chief says
"Anti-Semitism is not a threat to the security and well-being of the Jews of America," Rabbi Eric Yoffie wrote in Time.

JPost.com Staff, Maya Shwayder, and Sam Sokol, May 31, 2014

American Jews can feel reassured that they are safe from any physical threats motivated by anti-Semitism, said Rabbi Eric Yoffie, the former head of the US Reform movement.

World Jewry is trying to come to grips with last week’s shooting attack at the Brussels Jewish Museum, the resurgence of the European far Right and anti-Jewish rhetoric in the Muslim world.

Writing an opinion piece for Time magazine, Yoffie declared that “anti-Semitism is not a threat to the security and well-being of the Jews of America.”

He said that while there are worrying trends of escalating anti-Semitism in Europe and the Muslim world, American Jews can take solace in the fact that the United States remains safe and discrimination-free.

The rabbi was writing in response to the results of a recent survey released by the Anti-Defamation League, which found that negative attitudes toward Jews are “persistent and pervasive around the world.”

After surveying over 50,000 people in 102 countries in what it termed the “most comprehensive assessment ever of anti-Semitic attitudes globally,” the ADL came to a number of surprising conclusions.

The First International Resources poll determined that 26 percent of respondents were “deeply infected” with anti-Semitic attitudes, while only a little more than half of those polled have heard of the Holocaust. Twothirds of those asked stated that they have either not heard of the Nazi genocide or do not believe that accepted historical accounts are correct.

Those who responded positively to six or more questions out of a set of 11 questions based on common Jewish stereotypes were deemed anti-Semitic by the New York-based Jewish advocacy group. The ADL’s National Director Abraham Foxman said that they purposely set the bar high.

“We didn’t want to hype. We wanted to understate, rather than overstate, and to be careful that we’re only labeling those people who are really bad,” he said.

Yoffie countered that while he doesn’t doubt that millions of Americans do harbor anti-Semitic sentiments, it is far from being translated into anti-Jewish behavior.

“And by behavioral standards, it is difficult to see anti-Semitism as a factor of any consequence in American life,” Yoffie wrote. “Jews in America are able to live in neighborhoods where they want to live, work in businesses where they want to work, and gain acceptance to any universities that they are qualified to attend.

“This was not always the case in this country; even in the post-World War II period, discrimination against Jews in all these realms was commonplace.

But no more. For half a century, practical prejudice of this sort has essentially disappeared,” he added.

Yoffie wrote that while the Jewish community has witnessed acts of terrorism and vandalism motivated by anti-Semitism, they do not amount to any credible threat since “government officials and political leaders can be counted on to raise their voices in protest and activate the machinery of government to combat the forces of hate.

“There can be no excuse for seeing our situation as different from what it really is,” Yoffie wrote. “And our reality, as American Jews, is that we are not a community under siege. Let us say it plainly: the anti-Semitism that is festering elsewhere poses no danger to us.”

Esser Agaroth (2¢):
Eric Yoffie
clown of our generation
So, what does Eric Yoffie want us to do? Wait around until the "anti-Semitic sentiments" harbored by "millions of Americans" do become "translated into anti-Jewish behavior?"

Because only a handful of Jews have been killed or injured, in shootings or "knock-down" attacks? Or perhaps because those Jews killed or injured do not matter? That they did not do enough to assimilate amongst the goyim, that they had it coming to them?

I am simply asking if this is what Eric Yoffie is really trying to say.

Are these "Jewish leaders'" fancy jobs, cars, and "acceptance" by non-Jews really worth risking the life of even one more Jew?

Are they pulling the wool over American Jews' eyes purposefully, thus preventing them from reading the writing on the wall, to keep them in Galuth (exile)?

This is the second time in a week, I am posting the following video here on site. The Jewish Voices on Campus video is well-worth viewing a second or third time. Perhaps it will give Eric Joffe some insight as to the Jew-hatred, university students, for example, have been facing on campuses across the U. S.

Here, I will cite one of the Reform [Bowel] Movement's favorite lines in Jewish texts to pick-out of context and distort. They have applied it to non-Jews, left and right. But, when it comes to our own...?

BT Sanhedrin 37a
...Therefore, man was created singly, to teach you that whoever causes a single soul from Israel to perish, Scripture considers him as if he had caused an entire world to perish, and whoever preserves a single soul from Israel, Scripture considers him as if he had preserved an entire world....
Such un-Jews love to completely ignoring the halakhah (Torah Law), which they find to be "no longer binding." But, what they really mean to say is that assimilation amongst the international, global community of humanity, is OK, if not preferred.

In all fairness, there are plenty of "Modern Orthodox," who have been guilty of picking and choosing, taking thing out of context, and distorting them.

But, I digress...

Judaism is a religion based exclusively on Torah, both the Written and Oral. Thus, Reformism is not Judaism.

Rather than pursue what The Almighty's Will is for us, His People, rather than fitting our lives into the rubric of Torah, Reformists seek to fit bits and pieces of Torah into their lives when it is convenient, and "feels right." Often, these bits and pieces, often barely, if at all, recognizable as Torah.

Whereas the Torah instructs us regarding our separate and distinct nature, and commands us to maintain separation among various aspects of Jewish life; Reformists are hellbent on mixing such things together: Shabbath and the work week, Jews and goyim, including intermarriage, kosher and treif, pure and contaminated.

Of course. Think about what God wants? Why would any rational person do anything like that?

And so, I ask you again are Eric Yoffie and the Reform Movement delusional or evil? Well, I do not know about Eric Yoffie. He could simply be prideful, greedy, naive, or blind. But, the roots of the Reform Movement were put into motion by those notorious for mixing things, the Erev Rav (from the "mixed" multitude).

Did you hear the one about the "Rabbi" who Walks into a non-Kosher Restaurant?

The Algemeiner: Rabbi Says Booted From Jackson, Mississippi Restaurant for Being Jewish
Shiryn Ghermezian, September 24, 2014

An American rabbi said that he was thrown out of a Jackson, Miss., restaurant on Tuesday after the person taking his order found out he was Jewish, the local Clarion-Ledger reported.

The victim, Rabbi Ted Riter of Beth Israel Congregation, recounted on Facebook what he said transpired when he went to Wraps in Maywood Mart for lunch and ordered a salad. According to Riter, a man he believed to be the owner asked him, “A full size or a Jewish size?”

When Riter asked for an explanation, the man said, “It’s small. Jews are cheap and small. Everybody knows that.”

Shocked by the comment, Riter responded, “Did you really just say that?” The man then asked him if he was Jewish. When Riter replied in the affirmative, he was told to leave the restaurant. (cont.)

Esser Agaroth (2¢):
I was quite surprises to see that the following comment of mine was actually published. Points to The Algemeiner!
Why do you insist on referring to such individuals as “rabbis??”

Individuals who distort, play with, and deny parts of the Torah have a dubious din (status) at best, and they are called rabbis??

In the future, I ask that at the very least you put the word rabbi in quotation marks or parentheses.
Like many un-Jews, it is not his fault that he lacks even the most remote understanding of Torah. In my opinion, the history of the so called "Reform" movement is based in the lack of belief in any of the Torah. However, knowing that the Torah was to powerful to attack head on, the "Reformers" took a lesson from the Tzadoqim (Sadducees), and chose to attack it one part at a time, the Oral Torah first. Like he has been indoctrinated into a Western/assimilationist (ie. anti-Torah) perspective of the Torah.

All through the Torah, Jews are commanded regarding various distinctions and separations, be they types of food, seeds, plants, fibers, potential marriage partners, or national borders. However, assimilated Jews rationalize these distinctions and separations away, or simply ignore them. Instead, they take the route of "building bridges" between distinctions and separations, and work toward the erasing of these Torah-mandated boundaries. In other words, when the Torah says to distinguish and separate things, they mix them together instead.

"mixer"
Hmm...mixing,

...as in "mixed"

...as in "mixed-up"

...and as in "mixed multitude," (Erev Rav/ערב רב) those false converts who came up out of Egypt with us, and having causing us trouble to this day (Exodus 12:38).

And a mixed multitude also went up with them; and flocks, and herds, even a great deal of cattle.

Oh, don't worry. Although this logic sounds a little silly on the surface, the same works in Hebrew as well. I simply wanted to make it accessible to the followers of Ted Riter and the like, those who actually think that such an individual is a "rabbi," a man of Torah, a teacher of Torah.

Some would say that it is a mistake for me to be so harsh, as I am in this post. Perhaps instead, I should be more delicate and diplomatic. This approach might attract Jews to my way of thinking, instead of frightening them away with a post, which you may see as "self-righteous," "negative," and any other descriptors you choose to insert.

I believe that it is true, that various approaches are now needed in order to reach the diverse kinds of Jews out there, during this difficult and confusing time in which we live. Some of these Jews, who are buried deep in their assimilation, have absolutely no chance of being dug out with kind, diplomatic words and patient reasoning. They need to be [proverbially] smacked in the face with the truth, in order to be woken up.

Jews like Ted are not necessarily Erev Rav, but most certainly the Erev Rav's tools, its "mixers," if you will.

Leaders in the so-called "Reform Movement," and other distorters and deniers of Torah, are another story, picking at the Torah piece by piece, knowing that they are unable to attack it head on.

The news reports of Ted Riter's venture into a non-kosher restaurant have all focused on Ted as the victim, Ted as the party who rises above the attacks on his people, Ted as the peaceful "bridge-builder," Ted who desires to reconcile and embrace his attacker.

Why hasn't anyone asked, "What in the heck was he doing at a non-Kosher restaurant, in the first place?"

Having a salad? I know Buddhists and vegans who are stricter about avoiding the ingestion of bugs, often found in salad vegetables.

But, this is really all immaterial.

It is one thing to try to get along with non-Jews, while we are in exile in THEIR lands. But, this is by no means license for the complete disregard for our nature as a distinct and separate people, a concept perhaps even more important important while in exile than not. No matter how the Erev Rav wants us to be, we are simply NOT just like every people.

These boundaries have been, and continue to be necessary for our survival. All it takes is for one Jew, who, for better or for worse, garners respect from the local Jewish community, to guide that community through his example, step by step to the paths of genocide, assimilation and intermarriage. History has shown us that danger to our people's very existence has been based on much less than having a salad in a non-kosher restaurant.
