The Battle Against Sukkoth

English follows the Hebrew.

Arutz 7: Where did the Four Species markets disappear to?
Popular Four Species market in Ashdod won't operate this year - here's why.
Israel International News, Oct 3, 2022

In some haredi cities, there will not be a large Four Species market this year, following lessons learned from the Meron disaster.

The Four Species are used during the holiday of Sukkot (the Festival of Tabernacles), and traditionally, prior to the holiday, special marketplaces are set up to allow customers easy access to a large number of vendors at once.

One of the most popular Four Species markets was the one in Ashdod's Quarter 7. Sources in Ashdod have said that as part of the lessons learned from the Meron disaster, insurance companies have tightened criteria, dramatically influencing the cost of operations.

"Despite the attempts which were made to obtain permits, it became clear that the market does not meet the updated requirements and therefore we are unable to operate it," a local haredi news site reported.

"As a result of not operating the market, Quarter 7 will not operate the Religious Council's 'guidance sukkah,' and the sukkahs which will be operated by the Religious Council will only be located in Quarter 3 and Quarter 2 - where there is also a traditional Four Species market."
Esser Agaroth (2¢):
Maybe you are saying:
"They have another market. so whats the problem?"
or "Insurance companies determine their own prices and requirements. What is there to be do."

Whoever says such things is most likely some sort of robot who has been successfully indoctrinated by the State education system!

During the Meron disaster half a million were there, on a mountain. In contrast, a Sukkot four species market is a fairly small space.

On Tisha B'av Fast they were worried about two thousand Jews ascending the Temple Mount, in spite of the already hundreds of thousands of Arabs.

The report in Hebrew from Ashdodnet cited above adds: "This severely affects the residents as well as the merchants who are likely to see a decrease in sales."

How many Jews will not observe the mitzvah of Sukkot because the distance from their homes to public Sukkots is too long?

Once again, it seems the Israeli Government is not actually trying to protect us from danger. Rather it is making excuses for its continued battle against the Torah and those who keep it.

American Election Shenanigans

English follows the Hebrew.

In the run-up to the very recent U. S. elections, several states automatically sent out "Vote by Mail" ballots to all those registered to vote. The state of California, where I was registered to vote, is one of those states which does this. The graphic (above) shows what I received directly to my post office box in Jerusalem.

The red circles list the candidates for president and vice-president (right) accompanied by the following explanation (left):
"All registered voters in L. A. County have been mailed a Vote by Mail ballot to ensure a safe and accessible voting option. "
"So what?" You ask. I got my ballot even though I live outside of the U. S. Cool!

No. Not cool. I'm not entitled to vote. I'm not a citizen!

And I'm probably not the only ineligible person who received a ballot. There has already been talk in the news about the deceased voting, the ballots being dumped in the trash, and Republican poll monitors being prevented from entering the rooms where ballots were being counted.

Indeed, we have "mistakes" in our elections here in the State of Israel, such as balloting notes being surreptitiously replaced with fake ballots and the votes that  received from the residents of the Itamar settlement in the Shomron (Samaria) reportedly casting several votes for an Arab party  Settlers voting for a Arab party? Really? And who knows if these "mistakes" are actually mistakes?

But what is happening now in the United States, the greatest symbol of democracy in the world, is simply unbelievable!

So why did I get a "Vote by Mail" ballot? Because I'm registered as a member of the Democratic Party? Or simply because the State Department has not notified the State of California of my renouncement of citizenship?

I have no idea. I am simply sharing my own person evidence of shenanigans, if not criminal acts, taking place in the American elections.

Parents Suspected of Kidnapping, Running Over Teenage Daughter

YNET: Parents suspected of kidnapping, running over teenage daughter
Ramle couple thought to have targeted 18-year-old, who lived in a different city, due to fears that her lifestyle would 'dishonor' the family name; teen escaped and was found wounded on road in Rahat

Ilana Curiel 04.18.19

Parents in Ramle are suspected of abducting their 18-year-old daughter, attacking her and running her over – all because they were unhappy with her lifestyle. On Thursday afternoon, the State Prosecutor's Office was set to indict the couple, both in their early forties, who have eight other children. (cont.)
Esser Agaroth (2¢):
Why did this piece not mention that the family in question is an Arab family? Yes, the cities of Ramle and Rahat are mentioned, Ramle which was founded at the beginning of the eighth century, by the local governor and future caliph during the Arab occupation, and Rahat the largest Bedouin settlement, the second largest Arab city, in Israel.

If this young kidnapped woman had been a Jew who moved to Rahat to live with, or just to be closer to, her Arab boyfriend, and her parents had kidnapped her to prevent their mixed relationship from continuing, then there is no doubt that the leftist controlled Israeli media would have gone out of its way publicize this incident, and to keep this news cycle going much longer than usual.

Seriously, we would never hear the end of it, and the incident would still be brought up years from now.

Do you Feel Safer Being Filmed 24 Hours a Day?

English follows the Hebrew.

FILMED 24 HOURS
Please obey the provisions of the law
Inspectors' Department

This sign is at the entrance of the suburban city where I currently reside. I erased its name from the sign. We do not need that. You probably also have such signs in your communities. Just have to pay attention.

Why do state and local governments the powers that be want to put cameras all around us? To protect us, of course!

To protect us from thieves, murderers, and terrorists! (Even if we are not allowed to talk about the possibility that terrorists will also enter the suburbs.) What does it matter if we have to cancel our privacy? Now we feel safer! Thank you very much for our malpractice!

If you believe that a security camera system such as this is really only for our own good then ... Good luck to you.

You're gonna need it.

Israeli Election Shenanigans? Surprised?

Reports of alleged shenanigans during the recent, Israeli elections have been streaming in. Calls from Eli Yishai's Yachad Party to join the protest, by adding their names to a petition of declared Yachad voters, has been circulating the Internet.

Some photos of the shenanigans can be seen in a report on the matter on Yachad's Official Website:
Eli Yishai
Yachad Party Head
Yachad: Battling Over The Truth!
(
Esser Agaroth (2¢) Translation)
March 20, 2015

We have received you encouragement! Your support! We feel your outcry, and we have decided, to fight for the truth! Hundreds of declarations of counterfeiting have been brought to our attention. Were you witnesses to any of this? Join the fight! (cont.)

It is pretty easy to have a ballot disqualified. All it takes is a slight ink mark, or even a folded corner, if you can believe it. But, there were much more creative ways employed to go after Yachad voters.

For example, some ballot notes were replaced by fake ones with Baruch Marzel's name on them. Baruch Marzel, on the Yachad list, ran independently in a previous election. This was one of many attempts to confuse and mislead Yachad supporters, with the goal of having as many of their votes disqualified.

Here is another example from Official Yachad (English) Facebook Group, a comparison between real Yachad ballot notes and another fake one found at polling stations. These were later disqualified by official ballot counters.

L: Fake election note "HaRav Eliyahu Yishai"
R: Real ballot note "Eli Yishai"
My sources, who have been in contact with those present at the official recount, claimed that the were about 50,000 ballot notes which had been disqualified. Of those 50,000, 13,000 were for the Yachad Party.

One fourth of the disqualified ballot notes came from one small party? Does that make any sense to you?

Furthermore, reports indicated that the Yachad Party was between 11,000 and 12,000 short of making the minimum threshold to enter the K'nesseth with four mandates.

My educated guess would be that if Yachad had made it in, there would be one less mandate (MK) for the Likud Party, one less mandate for the far left Meretz Party, one less mandate for the Untied Arab Parties, and one less mandate for another party, which would shift the edge to the right, and probably give Prime Minister Netanyahu the option to leave out  supposedly centrist Kulanu (Kachlon) Party from the government he is attempting to form.

As far as any complaints, petitions, and protests against the election results go, I really don't see the point.

I think that today might even be the deadline for the completion of any investigations into complaints about the elections. I'm not sure. But, quite frankly, I don't think it matters. Does Yachad have a chance of winning an appeal? They have a chance at convincing the Supreme Court

As if.

We have seen, time and time again, how Torah-observant Jews have begun to gain ground, sticking to the established rules of Israeli democracy, only to have those rules changed by the government, the justice system, or by party heads themselves, as in the case of Netanyahu vs. outgoing MK Moshe Feiglin. This is one of the reasons why I refer to the system of government of the State of Israel as deMOCKracy.

An additional question remains regarding the alleged, Israeli election shenanigans. Whoever was behind the shenanigans, more likely than not, presents themselves in public as being pro-democracy, yet privately subverts the democratic process, and even justifies it using a totally distorted understanding of democracy.

Were they religiously motivated? Were they anti-religiously motivated? Either way, it all spells the same thing: H-Y-P-O-C-R-I-S-Y. None of us should be in the least bit surprised by this.

Either you believe in democracy, real democracy, or you don't.

Personally, I pray for the time, when we don't have to worry about such things as democracy, or in Israel's case, deMOCKracy.

What does Knesset Speaker Yuli Edelstein have to Hide?

JPost.com: Edelstein: Journalist hiring private eyes to tail MKs belongs in jail
Journalist's "100 Days of Transparency" project raised almost NIS 160,000 to follow lawmakers who "love darkness" and "resist transparency."

MK Yo'el "Yuli" Edelstein
Speaker of the K'nesseth
Knesset Speaker Yuli Edelstein plans to ban from the Knesset all those involved in a plan to hire private investigators to follow MKs in the name of transparency, and called for them to be put in prison.

Former Calcalist (Israeli financial paper) Knesset reporter Tomer Avital started raising money for his "100 Days of Transparency" project in July via the Israeli crowdfunding site Headstart, and as of Monday, has close to NIS 160,000 to hire private investigators to "make transparency-resisters [in the Knesset] sweat," as the project's page reads.

A video on the project's site (see below) shows MKs hugging lobbyists and attending parties with some of the wealthiest Israelis and points out that many MKs only attend a handful of plenum meetings. Avital, who also wrote a murder mystery describing an extreme case of what can happen when there is a lack of transparency in the Knesset, particularly in regards to lobbyists, plans to have investigators track the activities of lawmakers who "love darkness," meaning those whose schedules and activities are least transparent. (cont.)

Esser Agaroth (2¢):
Prison? Sounds a little extreme, doesn't it? If private investigators are operating according to Israeli law, then why should Israeli law makers be exempt? Does Speaker Edelstein believe himself and his colleagues to be above the law?

Granted, democracy has absolutely nothing to do with a truly, Jewish (ie. Torah) government. But, the statements above from the Speaker only add further support to the notion that the State of Israel is not even the democracy it claims to be. Rather, it is a deMOCKracy.

Tomer Avital
From the video alone, it appears that Tomer Avital is going after all Members of K'nesseth [MK] equally, those who are not transparent, that it. The 1:13 minute video carries criticism of Haredi MK's Litzman, Yishai, and Deri, but of secular, and even Arab MK's, as well.

As stated above, the video includes photos and clips of MK's with lobbyists, but also includes charts listing MK's and ministers with poor attendance, information which is commonly brought up and discussed the U. S. in regards to its members of Congress.

I know relatively little about Tomer Avital. He has had some involvement with One Voice, an "NGO dedicated to resolving the Palestinian-Israeli conflict," and is the creator of the "Networking The Gap" initiative, designed "to reshape the perception of those who still flatten their neighbors as enemies." So, I will hazard to guess that he and I are not on the same page politically. However, on the surface, his "100 Days of Transparency" project seems not only to be a good idea, but a good suggestion of a requirement for anyone serving in any government, claiming to be a democracy.

Ironically, the photo which now appears as Avital's Facebook profile picture is one of himself posing with none other than,...Speaker Yuli Edelstein. Together, they are holding up a copy of Avital's book HaMishkan, the novel about murder and the lack of transparency, mentioned in the above report.

If nothing else, Tomer Avital deserves points for cleverness.

On the other hand, Speaker Edelstein should know better, that anyone attacking the expectations of transparency for government officials, and threatening those individuals involved in pushing for it, would automatically be the target of suspicion himself.

And so, I ask, what exactly does K'nesseth Speaker Yuli Edelstein have to hide?

In How Many of the United States is it Illegal to be Off the Grid?

Real Farmacy: Florida Makes Off-Grid Living Illegal – Mandates All Homes Must Be Connected To An Electricity Grid

Arjun Walia, March 10, 2014

It’s no secret that an opposition to sustainable living exists. Earlier this year, Texas state brought several SWAT teams to a sustainable community and threatened to shut it down. Each one of the community members were initially handcuffed at gunpoint. It was called “The Garden of Eden Community,” and was totally self sustainable. You can read more about that here.

This time, it’s Robin Speronis that’s come under fire. She lives off the grid in Florida, completely independent of the city’s water and electric system. A few weeks ago, officials ruled her off-grid home illegal. Officials cited the International Property Maintenance Code, which mandates that homes be connected to an electricity grid and a running water source. That’s just like saying our dependency on corporations isn’t even a choice. The battle to live without most utilities has been ongoing for Robin, the self-sufficient woman has lived for more than a year and a half using solar energy, a propane camping stove and rain water.

In the end, she was found not guilty of not having a proper sewer or electrical system; but was guilty of not being hooked up to an approved water supply. (cont.)

Esser Agaroth (2¢):
Wind Turbine
Jewish town, Samaria
Besides the aforementioned Texas, Colorado has apparently also been causing problems with those who would like to collect their own rainwater.

"Unbelievable!" would be a gross understatement.

How many other states have been practicing such shenanigans?

I have no doubt that these states have been doing this for their constituents "own good," safety reasons and the like. After all, why should the states foot the bill for an illness contracted by an "unapproved" water supply or sewage system, or from lack of electricity? Anyway, that has appeared to be their logic.

It is the same old story. Governments find ways to show its populations that they need them. The truth is that they need us more than we need them.

In some areas of Israel, towns are supplied with water from wells. This can even be more convenient for the government.

Fortunately, solar heating has been encouraged, and it does not make any money from the electricity we do not have to use to heat our water. From April through as far as the beginning of November, heating water in the past few apartments where I have lived has been free from the sun.

In fact, if you are willing to foot the bill for your own alternative electrical power system, which I have heard can run around $100,000, the Israeli electric company will even by any surplus from you.

Pictured above is a friend's wind turbine, which has taken him and his family completely off of the electric grid. In his area, heating homes during the winter is often done with wood burning stoves. The homes are small, insulation can be added, and the wood from is plentiful, if you are willing to be apart of the tree pruning projects during the fall. The electricity collected is used for washing machines, perhaps a luxury, big help to growing families with small children, power tools, and cooking back-up, in case gas suppliers are unable to make their deliveries, or if their supplies suddenly cease.

So far, the Israeli government has been focusing on other ways to control its populace.Nonetheless, it pays to be prepared for the possible worst case scenarios popping up in the future.

MK Moshe Feiglin is Even More Awesome than I Thought!

Feiglin: We Don't Need Judea and Samaria Council
MK Moshe Feiglin (Likud) said that the Council of Judea and Samaria was a “great danger” to the Land of Israel.

February 4, 2014

MK Moshe Feiglin
(Likud-Beiteinu)
In an interview Monday night, MK Moshe Feiglin (Likud) said that the Council of Judea and Samaria was a “great danger” to the Land of Israel. “It would be best for Israel if the body known as the Council of Judea and Samaria were to pass from the world,” he said on Galey Israel radio.

The problem, he said, was that the organization did absolutely nothing to defend and encourage Jewish settlement in Judea and Samaria. “They put their hands into my pocket but do not consult with me,” he said, speaking as a resident of a town in Samaria. “In essence they are robbing me.”

The Council, he said, was acting “in an immoral manner. The Council says that since represents local authorities in Judea and Samaria, that I automatically support it and everything it does because I voted in a local election,” Feiglin said. “As far as I know, the Council has caused nothing but damage to the cause of settling Judea and Samaria.”

When asked if he would close down the Council, Feiglin answered “yes, it would be best for the Land of Israel if that group were to disappear.”

Esser Agaroth (2¢):
I have already praised MK Moshe Feiglin for his work on behalf of Jewish rights and claims to Har HaBayith (Temple Mount), continually exposing the truth about Arabs and their motivations, contributing to the re-building of a collective, Jewish backbone, and for various other reasons. In fact, Feiglin is really the only reason why I have not cancelled my membership in the Likud Party. Even though there are many reasons on the side of my doing so.

I am now happy to praise MK Feiglin again now.

The only question I have is if MK Feiglin saying what everyone else in Yehudah and Shomron (Judea and Samaria) wants to say. Or is he still one of the only few in this region who is awake to see the Yesha Council's shenanigans?

I hope that the former is correct.

The YeSh"A (Judea, Samaria, and Gaza)Council, or as we preferred to call them, when I lived in the Shomron, the Pesha (crime) Council or the Resha (evil) Council, still has the hutzpah to keep the "A" for Azza (Gaza) in its name. Even though it is responsible for the expulsion of almost 10,000 Jews from their homes and lands there, back in 2005/תשס"ה.

The 40 minute, must-see, video Meraglim ("Spies") explains it all, including the YeSh"A Council's collusion with the government, and collaboration with the Shabba"k (General Security Service).

The YeSh"A Council's shenanigans did not stop there, collaborating with the government to remove so-called "trouble-making" hilltop communities, which is code for "too ideological for the YeSh"A Council to be able to control. In fact, I have it on high authority that the YeSh"A Council has even condoned, if not supported, violent intervention against the expression of free speech, when not getting its way.

Now, how deMOCKratic, or rather DEMONcratic is that?

Well, no one can say that MK Feiglin has not been working to eliminate government waste, which the YeSh"A Council most definitely is.

Rabbi Druckman Makes a Terrible Situation Much Worse

I have been following Rabbi Chaim Druckman and his shenanigans over the years. I wondered why on earth he received the "Israel Prize," and most recently his public support for sexual predator "Rabbi" Mordechai "Moti" Elon who was convicted of sexually assaulting minors,...which in my opinion, is a euphemism. I do not care how much Torah he has learned and retained. I refuse to refer to such an individual as "rabbi."

Now, apparently, Rabbi Druckman has not stopped at kicking down Moti Elon's victims, but has continued this disgusting act by burying their faces in their shame, not to mention risking the safety of his own students at Yeshivath Or Etzion, located near Qiriyath Malachi.

Candidly Speaking from Jerusalem: Bayit Yehudi Cannot Remain Silent Over Rabbi Druckman
Isi Leibler, January 2, 2014

Rabbi Chaim Druckman, one of the most prominent Rabbis within the national religious movement, has responded to Rabbi Mordechai Elon’s conviction on charges of sexually assaulting minors, by employing him as a teacher in the Or Etzion Yeshiva where he serves as the Rosh Yeshiva. This has sent shockwaves through the religious Zionist community. It also poses a serious challenge to the Bayit Yehudi political party.

Naftali Bennet, the head of Bayit Yehudi, ran on a platform which highlighted religious reform. A charismatic personality, he communicates well with secular Israelis and has even succeeded in projecting himself as a trendy liberal. But until now, either from inability or unwillingness, he has failed to confront the tough issues of religious reform.

Bayit Yehudi cannot remain on the sidelines in relation to such a fundamental issue as sexual misconduct within the rabbinic community. If it does not respond appropriately to this latest imbroglio, it will contribute to its own demise. (continue reading)

Esser Agaroth (2¢):
Naftali Bennett
Bayit Yehudi Head
Leibler goes on to show how important it is for the Bayit Yehudi (Jewish Home) Party, to refrain from just standing on the sidelines, or else risk its own demise,...which I have personally been waiting for, for year now.

I will go a step further.

Israel's Chief Rabbinate has been losing its credibility gradually over time. But its loss of credibility has been accelerating fast.

The less credible the Rabbinate becomes, the more religious Jews on the street will turn to the secular courts, believing they will have more of a chance of achieving justice through them, than through the rabbinic courts. This will only add fuel to the fire the Israeli secular courts have already set under the Rabbinate's feet.

Rabbi Yitzhaq Yosef and Rabbi David Lau
Israel's Chief Rabbis

Moti Elon has already been admonished and "punished" by a group of rabbis of his peers. All of this has been reversed over the past through months, single-handedly by Rabbi Druckman.

Not only does the Bayit Yehudi Party have to get its act together, but so does Israel's Chief Rabbinate, which must step in immediately, or else it, too, faces its own demise.

Likud vs. Likud

Arutz 7: Bibi Boots Elkin from Plane for Embarrassing Him
Prime Minister tells deputy foreign minister to fly El Al to New York, after Elkin embarrasses him with old quote against PA state.

Gil Ronen, September 25, 2013

MK Ze'ev Elkin
(Likud - Beteinu)
Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu has punished Deputy Foreign Minister, MK Ze'ev Elkin, by barring him from joining the prime ministerial flight to New York's UN General Assembly as was planned, reports Yisrael Hayom. The decision is reportedly Netanyahu's way of disciplining Elkin, after Elkin embarrassed Netanyahu politically.

Elkin will have to take a regular El Al flight that leaves Saturday night. He will be replaced on the prime minister's plane by Minister Gilad Erdan. Both Elkin and Erdan are members of Likud.

According to the report, Netanyahu is upset because of a speech Elkin delivered at a Likud event ten days ago, and also because of a petition he co-signed with about 30 other MKs, calling on Netanyahu to cancel any further releases of terrorist prisoners.

In the speech, Elkin quoted Netanyahu's own words, 11 years ago, regarding the possible establishment of a Palestinian state. “The Palestinians will enjoy all of the rights,” Netanyahu said then, “except for one right – the right to annihilate Israel. Self rule – yes. A state – no.”

Netanyahu added, then: “They tell us that the Palestinian state is a vision for the future. Well, our nation also has a vision for the future. 'And the wolf will dwell with the sheep. When that vision is realized in the Middle East, we will go back and reconvene the Likud Central Committee and discuss the issue again.”

By quoting Netanyahu, Elkin was showing that he has backtracked on his stated principles. Netanyahu now favors a "demilitarized" Arab state inside Judea and Samaria.

Esser Agaroth (2¢):
I just LOVE this picture of Bibi! Don't you?
So now, do we applaud MK Zev Elkin for getting up to the plate, and declaring the truth?

Do you Likudniks out there condemn him for embarrassing your precious prime minister, and working in the opposite direction of Party unity?

Do the "pragmatists" out there condemn him for not choosing his shots in a terribly efficient manner?

Do those of us on the sidelines ask whether MK Elkin really thinks he has the backing to get on the next Likud list of candidates without Bibi's rubber stamp, especially now that he has stepped on even more toes?

Should we even care?
Well, in between yawns, I applaud MK Elkin for not only speaking up, and calling the prime minister on his shenanigans, but for also not second guessing himself. At least, that's my take on what happened.

You are more than welcome to leave a comment suggesting that I've got this all wrong, and that I do not know MK Elkin as well as you do. I'll probably publish it. I do not have enough emotional investment in the Israeli governmental regime to care, and you'll only be doing me a favor by providing me with some additional insight.

But, until then, MK Elkin if one of the few MK's and even fewer Likud MK's who still have my attention, and positive view.

In case you are wondering who the other Likud MK's are still on my "smiley face" list (for lack of a better term), they are MK Moshe Feiglin, of course, and MK Yariv Levin.

Nope, not Christian lover MK Danny Danon, who was never on said list, and MK Tzippy Hotovely recently revealed her true colors, and so was immediately removed.

"Orthodox" Jewish Youth Pray for Syria?

And, here's why...
Arutz 7: Orthodox Jewish Youth Pray for Syria
Israeli youth in the Bnei Akiva program pray for an end to the killing of innocent Syrian civilians.

Maayana Miskin, August 28, 2013

A group of youth involved in the religious-Zionist Bnei Akiva program have started organized prayers on behalf of Syrian civilians who are at risk due to the ongoing civil war in their country. The prayer initiative, which began in Petach Tikva, has now spread to Jewish communities around the world...

...They asked Rabbi Yuval Cherlow (left), a leading figure in the religious-Zionist world and the head of the Petach Tikva hesder yeshiva, to help them find the ideal wording for their request for divine assistance for Syrian civilians... (...a leading figure? Perhaps, but NOT when it comes to Real Religious Zionism)

...The rabbi praised the young volunteers for their initiative.

The secretary-general Danny Hirshberg heard of the initiative and was so inspired by the idea that he decided the movement as a whole should take part. Hirshberg called on Bnei Akiva youth in Israel and around the world, and on the Jewish community as a whole, to say a special prayer in synagogues this Sabbath for Syrian civilians.

“The Israeli public needs to look beyond the screen of hate and enmity to see the pain of those civilians being hurt by the Syrian tyrant,” Hirshberg said. (cont.)
Meanwhile,...
Arutz 7: Synagogue Vandalized in Jerusalem
Bnei Akiva counselors horrified to find crude graffiti, mistreated Torah scroll in chapter's synagogue.

Maayana Miskin, August 23, 2013

Bnei Akiva counselors who arrived at the headquarters of the group’s Shunra branch in the Ramat Eshkol neighborhood in northern Jerusalem on Tuesday morning were horrified to discover that the center, which includes a synagogue, had been badly vandalized.

Arutz Sheva spoke to chapter manager Dana Amar, who said the vandalism included “destruction of property and graphic images. Even in our synagogue.”

“They opened the ark [where Torah scrolls are stored – ed.] and took the Torah scroll out of its covering. Apparently they also broke into the supply room and took things out.”

The Torah scroll had been flung to the ground.

Among the graphic images on the walls was writing in Arabic. Amar said it was not clear who had carried out the attack, but noted that construction workers doing a project in the building above may have had access to the area. (Hello! 2 + 2 = 4!)

The counselors have reported the incident to the heads of Bnei Akiva in Jerusalem, but have not yet filed a complaint with police. (Why the hell not?)

The counselors forwarded pictures of the vandalism to Arutz Sheva, but it was decided not to print the pictures due to their highly graphic nature.
Esser Agaroth (2¢):
Now, correct me if I am wrong, but doesn't "Orthodox Jewish" mean having at least some connection to halakhah (Jewish Law)?

Praying for the health and safety of "innocent" Yishma'elim, which, as a people, would see us annihilated? I am sorry. But, I am afraid that I know any halakhic sources where it indicates the permissibility to do such a thing, let alone praise it.

As far as the sources provided by Rabbi Cherlow in the first article, he needs to do a MUCH better job in explaining how they are even remotely shayakh (relevant) to the situation in Syria.

Perhaps, Rabbi Cherlow needs to review the Laws of Kings and their Wars. Yes, there is such a thing,...as politically-incorrect and as foreign such a things may see to liberal, "progressive," and even your standard "I guess I'm Jewish" Jew, such a thing very much exists. And, it is very much a Jewish thing.

That all being said, it B'nei Akiva absolutely insists on praying (which is certainly a good thing), then how about for the courage, strength, and guidance to rebuild the Miqdash (Holy Temple), appoint a King, and re-establish the Sanhedrin, not to mention the true identity(ies) of the proper targets which will allow us to fulfill the misswah of destroying Amaleq?

Would such things ever cross their minds? I sincerely doubt it. After all, it the "State" doesn't say that it's OK, then it must not really be OK.

Rabbi Cherlow can be seen on the right, surrounded by illustrious stars,
such as Danny Hershkovits, Elazar Stern, and Eli Sedan.
And, if they still insist on praying for non-Jews, then how about the Kurds, whose interests might actually complement the interests of Ge'ulah-minded Jews, and who the Turks, Syrians, Iraqis, and Iranian pretty much despise. These sure gain the Kurds points in my book!

There's a joke I heard once: "B'nei Akiva,...before he was 40."
Don't get it? I'll explain it below.

But first, I must take a moment to make my declaration of shenanigans, on the part of B'nei Akiva, official...

This was not the first shenanigans talking place with the smoking gun held by B'nei Akiva, nor, I am afraid, will it be the last.

What is Danny Hirschberg doing, at his age, wearing THAT shirt?? B'nei Akiva obviously does not teach anything about fashion halakhah, let alone much else related to halakhah.

Last fall,...
Danny Hirschberg (mentioned and pictured above), the head of the [allegedly Religious Zionist] B'nei Akiva organization.  He recently spoke at the annual Rabin-Fest Kickoff Memorial. The following report from Arutz 7/IsraelNN is worth a read, posted here in its entirety.
And, now you also know why the Religious Zionist youth group Ariel was founded, and by none other than students and alumni from the Merkaz HaRav Kook Yeshiva. That's right! You read it correctly Merkaz HaRav Kook, the leading Relgiious Zionist yeshiva in the world.

And, why was that? Because 1)  B'nei Akiva wasn't frum enough, and 2) they did not want their children influenced by such shenanigans!

Now, about the joke I mentioned, if you don't get it, then chances are that you were a member of B'nei Akiva.

Israel's Not-So-New Golden Calf?

Jews recently celebrated Shavu'oth, the anniversary of our acceptance of the Torah at Mt. Sinai.

Yet, what happened only 40 days after that?

Exodus 32
7 And the Lord spoke unto Moses: 'Go, get yourself down; for your people, that you brought up out of the land of Egypt, have dealt corruptly; 8 they have turned aside quickly from the way I commanded them; they have made themselves a molten calf, and have worshiped it, and have sacrificed to it, and have said: This is thy god, O Israel, which brought thee up out of the land of Egypt.' 9 And the Lord said to Moses: 'I have seen this people, and, behold, it is a stiff-necked people. 10 Now therefore let Me alone, that My wrath may wax hot against them, and that I consume them; and I will make a great nation from you.'

Esser Agaroth (2¢):
We made the golden calf. We attributed our salvation from galuth (exile) to it. God then became very angry,... needless to say.

There is a mahloqeth leShem Shamayim (disagreement for the sake of Heaven) between Rav Paloni and Rav Almoni. Their names are kept anonymous, as I do not have either rav's permission to publicize his name.

The mahloqeth is this:

Rav Paloni says that the mamlahtiyuth (undying State loyalty) of Religious Jews is avodah zarah ka'egel hazahav (forbidden worship like that of the golden calf)

Rav Almoni, who makes a point of saying that he likes Rav Paloni, says that no, it is not literally avodah zarah, but rather fascism, in the sense that the centrality of HaShem, The Almighty, has been replaced by the the centrality of the State.

It is important to note that both of these rabbanim believe in the current obligation for Jewish sovereignty to be obtained and maintained over the Land of Israel.

My friend Ariel Ben-Yochanan of The Torah Revolution, who will no doubt love the doctored image below, is an Italian speaker, and has said that Rav Almoni's definition of fascism is incorrect,...albeit the mamlakhti focus on The Almighty has been usurped by the State, or at best, confused with the State.

Let's take a look at some of the prominent dancers in the (only proverbial, of course) dance around the Golden Calf of the State of Israel.

Minister Naftali Bennett (Jewish Home) thinks he is a "nationalist," yet he is really nothing more than Prime Minister Netanyahu's lap....

Rabbi Chaim Drukman, leading Religious Zionist rabbi, was called on the carpet for conversion shenanigans by the Tel-Aviv Dayan Rabbi Avraham Sherman. Whereas the dispute should have been settled in rabbinical courts; it was not. The Israeli Supreme Court ruled on the matter, a matter over which it has neither qualification nor authority to determine. Yet, Rabbi Drukman did not seem to mind when he was exonerated. Regardless of Rabbi Drukman's guilt or innocence, he bowed to the State's authority regarding a halakhic (Jewish Legal) matter, an action very disturbing for a rabbi, and a dangerous precedent. But, of course, that is why he is picture here, dancing around the State.

Rabbi Minister Shai Piron (Yesh Atid) is the current Minister of Education, or as I prefer to call the position, the Minister of Re-Education.

MK Uri Orbach (Jewish Home), noted radio personality and stand-up comic has been quoted as saying that he moved out of Jerusalem long ago because it "was becoming too Haredi." He is a prominent member of the Mustache Brigade.

Rabbi Shlomo Aviner, the co-Chief Rabbi of Beth El and Rosh Yeshivath Atereth HaKohanim in Jerusalem's Old City. The list of his shenanigans is to long to post here in its entirety. Here are some of the highlights:

1. Accepting upon himself the authority of Rabbi Mordechai Eliyahu's ztz"l beth din, investigating his alleged shenanigans while making rulings on tohorath mishpahah (family purity), in his own hand (see below), he chose not even to show up to the hearings he was called to attend.

2. This same beth din ordered Rabbi Aviner to refrain from ruling on tohorath hamishpahah, again demonstrating acceptance of the beth din's authority. After six months of refraining, he started up again anyway. Then the mamlakhti (undying State loyalist) publicity machine rolled out to defend him and to condemn anyone who went up against him. Two rabbis from the original beth din plus one more, and with the agreement of yet two more Jerusalem dayanim (rabbinical judges) then ruled that because Rabbi Aviner "...maliciously teaches the transgression of prohibitions, punishable by excommunication," one may not ask him questions, nor receive instruction, nor read his books nor articles regarding ANY manner.

Of course, even though this has all been documented in black and white, mamlakhti drones cry "lies!" and refuse to acknowledge the facts. After all, their belovèd Rabbi Aviner is so popular.

Left: "A Student and his Rabbi," Right: Aviner expulsion photo op.
Far Right: Mrs. Aviner's hand-she was also wearing an orange "rav" vest. Hmm...
2. Rabbi Aviner participated in the expulsion of Jews from the homes and lands in Azza (Gaza).
Meanwhile,  non-Mamkakhti rabbis, Rabbi Dov Lior (Hevron-Qiriyath Arba) and Rabbi Zalman Melamed (Beth-El) were barricaded in a K'far Darom synagogue, fighting for Eretz Yisra'el, while watching over our youth, who were doing the same. These rabbis were the Yehoshu'a and Kalev of the day. The other "rabbis?" Well,...you can figure that one out on your own. Jewish heroes defending our (only true) Homeland, and fighting the expulsion, were accused of being "provocateurs" of the Shabba"k (General Security Service), and otherwise demonized.

3. Speaking of the Shabba"k, Rabbi Aviner has praised its so-called "Jewish Department," which has been known to be referred to by ideological settlers as the Israeli secret police. I mean, seriously.

Need I say more about Rabbi Aviner's respective relationships to the State and to the Torah? At the very least, they are confused, just like most of the other dancing celebrants pictured above.

Now, I suppose it is time to move on to those additional dancers....

Rabbi Dr. Daniel Hershkovits, the former head of the Jewish Home Party, who lost the leadership to Naftali Bennett, another prominent (ie. confused) member of the Mustache Brigade.

Rabbi Yuval Cherlow, Rosh Yeshivath Hesder Petah Tiqwah wants to encourage acceptance of the so-called "movements" of Judaism, including Reformism.

MK Elazar Stern (HaT'nu'ah), freshman MK and retired IDF General, Head of Personnel, recently earned the distinction of an Esser Agaroth (2¢) label, due to his extensive history of shenanigans.

Gen. Ya'ir Naveh, who was in command of the IDF in the Shomron (Samaria). According to some, his shenanigans have included expulsion of Jews, pogrom, incitement, and silent expulsion. An elaboration of these is found in a translation of Lev Yehudi's poster in Hebrew from 2007.

Rabbi Eli Sadan Rosh Yeshivath B'nei David in Eli which boasts more graduates to become officers in the IDF, than from any other religious educational institution, told his students that they may not violate any order from their IDF commanders. His stance was so extreme that it is said the Rabbi Tzvi Tau, Rosh Yeshivah of the Mamlakhti flagship Yeshivath Har HaMor had to call him to tone it down.

Rabbi Gen. Yisra'el Weiss (Ret.), former Chief IDF Rabbi, was completely silent on various issues such as the consequences of integrating women into previously all-male combat units, the sacrifice of soldiers safety for the sake of protecting "innocent Arab civilians," and, or course, the Israeli government's mesirah (handing over) of Jewish lands and other property. His shenanigans were exposed by Rabbi Elitzur HaLevi Sega"l of Ofra, in תשס"ה/2005. Rabbi Sega"l was recently convicted of making "anti-disengagement statements." "Disengagement" is the euphemism the Israeli government still insists on using to refer to the expulsion of almost 10,000 Jews from their lands in Azza (Gaza). In other words, Rabbi Sega"l was convicted for exercising his freedom of speech, and chose to do so, even though he knew that such a thing does not really exist in Israel. Rabbi Gen. Yisra'el Weiss expressed regret over his actions (or lack thereof) during the "disengagement."

Additional, "stars" of the State of Israel cheer leading squad include Sha'ul Yahalom, former National Religious Party MK, who stated in an interview that if the K'nesseth became filled with Arabs, and the majority voted to remove the Jewish nature of the State of Israel, such a vote would have to be honored. Why? Because of democracy. Thank goodness he is a FORMER MK.

Rabbi Shlomo Riskin of Eftrathah known for an infamous video in which he referred to the Christian false deity as "Rabbi." Anyone ever notice that the Orthodox Union is no longer a sponsor of Rabbi Riskin's annual Shabbos Shuvah and Shabbos HaGadol drashas?

Aharon Binah (Sorry. I just can't bring myself to call this one "rabbi.") Rosh Yeshivath Netiv Aryeh in the Old City of Jerusalem. By the way, has anyone ever asked the Rosh Yeshivah who actually owns that property? Aharon Binah is, of course, known for his purchase of a full-page ad praising Gen. Ya'ir Naveh, who was already mentioned above.

These three stars have not been included because they actually quite irrelevant where undying State-loyalism is concerned, albeit their egos undoubtedly tell them otherwise.

Back to that mahloqeth, I still have difficulties deciding. So, you can help me out here.

Do you think that the rabbis and politicians pictured up top dancing around the Golden Calf (for metaphorical and demonstrative purposes only) are they dabblers in avodah zarah, supporters of a fascist regime, or just super-duper naive?

Are there any other options?

Now, with the upcoming "elections" for Israel's Chief Rabbis, who do you think we will end up with, Torah based rabbis or State focused rabbis?

Anyone who still thinks that we can have both is extremely naive, and extremely wrong.

The Facebook Match-Maker Incident

Below, I have posted dialog from a public string begun on the Jewish Modesty Facebook group.

I mention this only because modesty comes up as an issue during the dialog.  If not mentioned, the reasons for raising the issue of modesty below would not be clear.

The point of posting this incident is not to go after this shadkan (male match-maker) in particular.

For all I know he has actually helped many people find their spouses.  For now, I am also willing to assume that the mental health practitioner wife he mentions who works with him, is a good one.

The point of posting this to help those who are ill-prepared, to become prepared in dealing with professional shadkanim and shadkaniyoth (female match-makers), and their potential, financial conflict of interest.  You can result in pushing two individuals together who not truly meant to be together, unconsciously motivated by financial gain.

While reading the exchange below, I ask that you keep in mind one question.  Does the match-maker answer any of my (potential client's) questions?

Then after you finish reading, ask yourself if you would feel confident going to this professional, accessing his services, and trusting in his judgment regarding the compatibility between you and a potential date, let alone a future spouse.
Key:
1. MM = the match-maker
2. 10 Ag = Esser Agaroth (me)
3. (words in parentheses) are replacement words to protect MM's identity.
4. [words in brackets] are my additions for clarity.
5. Punctuation and spelling were corrected, and italics were added to indicate non-English words.
6. Blue italics indicate my side commentary.

The string began with a the posting of a match-maker's professional website.  I begin the posting of the string here with my response.

10 Ag: I stay far away from anyone making any money off of shiddukhim. What does this has to do with modesty? Most of the shadkaniyoth I've met are the antithesis of modesty.

MM: Please explain.

10 Ag: [The posts on] The Yiddishe Cup pretty much sum it up. But, to be clear, I should have only said shadkaniyoth. I don't have any experience with shadkanim, and have heard mostly positive things from friends regarding shadkanim, and some positive things about couples working in the business,...as long as HE's not whipped.* But, the elephant in the room that no one wants to talk about is the potential conflict of interest here. The more marriages, the more money, no?

MM: Well, I am a man and my (mental health professional) wife assists me very professionaly, So feel free to sign up for free, You can receive and respond to messages for free and initiate contact for pay

10 Ag: No thanks. And, I think that we in this group need to decide whether it is appropriate to promote any business here. You may not have noticed, but there were three shiddukh oriented posts on this wall in a row? By the way, has your wife pursued licensure here in Israel, like I have? I ask, because it's yet another thing I'm jaded about in Israel, English-speaking therapist and "therapists" not bothering to pursue licensure here, and promoting their brand of "therapy," treating friends, and any number of other unethical practices. But, I digress....

MM: Yes, my modest wife works for real Israeli amutot with recognized masters from (university name).  By the way, we met through a for pay site

10 Ag: You didn't answer my statement, but that's ok. How is it that you are a "rabbi?" Why aren't the credentials of yourself and your wife mentioned on your site? Did I miss them?

MM: Ya'aqov, I am not applying for a Rabbi Job right now. Feel free to read my hundreds of Divrey Torah at (website name) Blessings to you to find your SoulMate through my site.

10 Ag: Then why do you mention it on your site, that you're a "rabbi?" Isn't that to give confidence to your prospective clients?

MM: Questioning my credentials doesn't help you to find your modest soulmate. I do have them and they are on my vast Jewish site. I suggest that you stop looking down at people. Perhaps you should ask some of our "mutual friends" about me.

10 Ag: Um,...how does "asking questions" translate to "looking down?" Why would I want to go to someone who cannot even answer a question about his qualifications?

At this point I decided to make a comment to this shadkan privately, and so I switched to Facebook personal message. At around the same time, this guy has sent me a Facebook friend request, which I found to be odd.  Oh, well.  Different people use Facebook for different reasons.

I went back and forth several times, before finally deciding to post this private conversation here.  The main reason for this was to show the initial message I wrote to him.  His response, and continuation of the conversation pretty much follows the same pattern as that which was posted publicly, and is not anymore damning.

10 Ag: By the way, your "modest wife's" shoulders are showing in your picture, unless she's actually wearing a flesh colored blouse underneath.

MM: Shalom, should I remove my friend request? I don't want FB to blacklist me.

Gee.  I wonder why he would be concerned about that?

10 Ag: It's neither here nor there. I rarely accept friend requests from people I do not actually know in real life.

MM: I had thought that to be the case, However, I asked a "mutual friend" from your list . He said that he did not know you from a hole in the wall. As a Rabbi and Shadchan I see early patterns that are making it hard for to find a soulmate. I strongly suggest you go for counseling/coaching. I will be happy to guide you there free.

10 Ag: I don't know him from a hole in the wall either. [He didn't friend me; I friended him, thus no conflict here with my statement above.]  I said rarely, not never. As a [real] psychotherapist, I also see patterns. For what purpose would you suggest that I seek counseling or coaching? As a therapist, I would only see another therapist, who specializes in therapy with therapists, as is professionally appropriate. Often when one suggests that another seek therapy, it is a continuation of the defensive strategy begun with not answering direct questions about ones qualifications. The made up profession of coaching, desperately needs regulation and oversight. [Many of] These paraprofessionals (if even that) are emboldened to attempt to handle issues for which they are not in the least by qualified nor equipped to handle, and have the potential to do quite a bit of damage. Did I mention that I also stay far away from "rabbis," especially English-speaking ones. Hakhamim (Torah scholars), on the other hand, are a differently story.

MM: Ah, I thought that you knew that I was (ethnicity) from a family of (ethnicity) (city) Hachamim. But it's ok. I am removing the offending post. The Modesty group is not as pleasant as others. I bless you with success and happiness and do not see any reason to continue this discussion.

I find it defensive, his snap judgment via e-communication that needs counseling, especially someone whom he has never met.  Furthermore, he does not even back up his "strong suggestion," when he was given the opportunity to do so, through my request for clarification.

Of course, he does not see this Facebook group as "pleasant as others.;" of course, he does "not see any reason to continue this discussion."  He has been challenged, and for whatever reason, finds it necessary to evade my questions....that is, assuming he is even conscious that he is evading my questions.

I will hazard a guess that in is his mind, any "likes," innocuous comments, and lack of any challenge to the posting of his website's address are perceived to be those of praise and encouragement. He is not being let off the hook for not answering my questions.  His current defensive strategy of avoidance is not working.  He turns from "fight" to "flight."

In addition, making such assumptions that people "know you" can be indicative of self-centeredness, if not narcissistic tenancies.

10 Ag: Not sure why I would nor should know that [he's from a family of "hakhamim"]. How is that shayakh (related) to any of my above questions, which you have still not answered. Offending? "Offending" is your word, not mine. Your post, your choice.

MM: I only address these issues with people who have signed up for free. Most of the info can be found at my site.

He seems to have only one goal on his mind, the promotion of his business.

I do not believe that there is anything inherently wrong with that.  But, gee whiz!  Can't he answer my  very direct questions, for goodness sakes??

Bottom line?

Did he answer ANY of my questions, publicly or privately, to your satisfaction?

Beware.  He is not the only out there doing the very same thing,...or worse.

The Secular Leftist Manifesto Spelled Out

8 of the Twelfth Month 5772

My Esser Agaroth commentary is interspersed in blue, for clarity's sake.
YNET: Say No To Jewish Hezbollah
Op-ed: Instead of drafting Haredim into army en masse, we should aim to reduce their birthrate

Yaron London, February 28, 2012

The doctors recommend that a maligned body part be cut off. The frightened patient turns to a witch doctor who promises full recovery. Some would feel better because of the placebo effect, yet physiology would quickly defeat psychology. The witch doctor’s medicine would prove to be worse than the illness.

Israeli society is sick. The illness is Jewish fundamentalism. National service to haredim who refuse to join the army is the medicine offered by the witch doctor. Yet there will be no wide-scale national service, and should it be established after all because of weak politicians, it would be corrupt and terribly expensive.

The weak politicians are on the right AND left, religious AND secular. The left continues to hock the Haredim about not doing their part for their "holy" State. They won't allow them to enlist in the Israeli Defense Forces [IDF], because they do not want their children exposed to the environment that religious soldiers would create. They do not want their children to be in an environment filled with minyanim, tefillin, and strict kosher and Shabbath observance.

The left will not allow a massive Haredi sherut le'umi (national service) enlistment either.

Why not?

If the left allows Haredi sherut le'umi, then they will be unable to implement their plan to brainwash indoctrinate them into secular, so-called "progressive," Israeli society. They believe such a society to be correct, yet they also desire to maintain their control,...desperately so.

What they do want is for the Haredim to be indoctrinated (Read: "brainwashed") into their assimilationist, anti-Torah world. The left is running scared. They know that they will eventually lose control.

Encouraging goyim to immigrate to Israel, and working to grant foreign workers citizenship has not been working fast enough for them, at least not as fast as the Erev Rav controlled government and Yaron London would like.
Moreover, such national service would not accelerate the entry of bums into the workforce. It would not produce reconciliation between seculars and haredim. Rather, the dispute between them would grow.

National service would not create peace in our midst because it does not provide a sense of justice. A year of work where haredim serve eight hours a day is not equal to a military service that lasts three years or more.

General Elazar Stern’s proposal to establish purely haredi regiments is even worse. The results of its implementation would be graver the more haredim join such units. The army of God will distinguish itself from the military at large and bow to the authority of officers who adhere to their rabbis’ directives.
Translation: "We have our eyes on you settlers who hold to Torah over State Law, as well."
Which rabbis will grant their patronage to haredi regiments? At best, it would be the rabbis of the large Lithuanian yeshivas; at worse, it would be radical clerics. The former would ensure strict adherence to Jewish law to the point of paralyzing God’s army. The latter would turn it into a Jewish Hezbollah.
What London and others, secular AND religious, do not realize is that Jewish Law covers how to run an army, a Jewish army, and not just "shabbos and kashrus shailos." The real threat to the Left is the knowledge of this, knowledge that Democracy (and deMOCKracy) are not true, Jewish forms of government, thus their need to apply the oxymoron "Jewish Democratic" state to the State of Israel. They do not want you to know that prophesy reveals that their reign will only be temporary, and that Torah will eventually be accepted as the "Law of the Land of Israel" that it is.

Their self-will is too powerful. If driving to the beach on Shabbath to eat barbequed shellfish is what they want to do, then who are the Haredim to them otherwise, let alone The Almighty Himself?!

They believe that their Western-progressive-maskili (secular intellectual), snooty "we know better than everyone else, including God" attitude justifies their double standards. In other words, Jews who DARE to adhere to God's Laws over the laws of their precious, "holy," anti-Torah state, when said laws are in conflict with one another, are terrorists (Hezbollah); whereas, the actions of various leftist organizations, such as ripping out trees in the Shomron and Yehudah (Judea & Samaria) days before the Shemitah (Sabbatical) Year, egging on Arabs to attack settler families, cutting down trees and severing water pipes near Arab villages, and then blaming settlers for it are totally acceptable.
Recipe for civil war
A modern state should not impose a service duty on work that can be undertaken by paid employees. We do not live in the feudal era where vassals were forced to dedicate some of their time to the needs of their landlords. The only anomaly is the art of war. Few would enlist should the State not make use of a measured blend of coercion and the impartation of values (sic.).
Imparting of values? Translation: "Indoctrination into what we believe to be a superior (secular) culture."
Values are imparted at home and through the education system. Coercion is only possible in totalitarian systems. As haredi education rejects a life of work and participation in defending the homeland, and as we cannot imprison tens of thousands of yeshiva students (and those pretending to be such,) and as national service would hold justice in contempt, and as purely haredi regiments are a recipe for an armed civil war, and as the haredi community mushrooms as result of natural growth – the national majority has no choice but to embark on a determined cultural war.
"Cultural war" is the key phrase here. I expect that we will begin seeing this phrase a lot more often in the Israeli news media. It is a little more palatable to most than "civil war," or the more severe Hebrew translation "war between brothers." Yet, it does the job that London and his ilk want done, to rile up secular Jews. But the real goal is to scare the hell out of those identifying as traditional, modern orthodox, or Religious Zionist.
Time is of the essence. Should the majority lose this war, the Zionist enterprise would be remembered as a short-lived historical episode.

There is no choice but to let the draft-dodging haredim be, but we should aim to reduce the number of their grandchildren. This is not an impossible mission. It is not an abusive mission either. This is a mission of salvation. The haredi camp grew because our enlightened society supported this growth. Society was wrong, and it should now correct this distortion.
Just what exactly is London proposing to reduce the numbers in the Haredim population?

Forced sterilization? Deportation? Freezing the aliyah (immigration) of Haredim? Former Minister of the Interior Avraham Poraz (Shinu'i) successfully froze the aliyah of the mostly right-wing, religious communities of Peru and Eastern India. Why not Haredim?

To that end, we must change the relative system of government. This system (on top of many other drawbacks stemming from it,) grants the haredi minority unfair influence on resource distribution and on the religious establishment’s relationship with the civilian state.

The kind of system of government we maintain is rare in enlightened states. Even Britain and the United States, the founding fathers of parliamentary democracy, forego strictly representative elections and grant the majority power that goes beyond its relative electoral strength.
There is that other buzz word "enlightened." It is always used, as if to say that Haredim are "primitive," or "unenlightened," or worse that to be enlightened by Torah is not enlightenment at all.

"Beyond its relative electoral strength" is another code phrase to watch out for. In other words, whenever Haredim, or anyone else they hate, begin to gain control, it is perfectly acceptable, in their heads, to cancel out that control by any possible means.
In political terms, only a centrist government that does not depend on the haredim would be able to erode the immense power of the haredi education system and affect the demographic trend. The urgency of this move must be recognized by the large secular parties. Something must be done, even before the next elections.
Although London makes a few good points about reformation of the system in the areas of labor and defense, I believe that his goals of the secular left include maintaining the barrier between various religious groups by promoting fear and hatred between them.

The Western/assimilationist, secular Left is running scared. With over 50% of Israeli third-graders identifying as religious, London and his hevre will not be the majority for long. In fact, every study attempting to pinpoint the average Israeli consistently result in the now, almost cliche, "Right of center, unwilling to give up more Land traditionalist."

In other words, London and his hevre are already NOT the majority.

Yet, as sneaky as London is with his words of concern for his "holy," completely non-Torah oriented state, he still one of the few from his cartel daring to reveal his true colors.

You do not even have to look too closely to see the secular, Leftist manifesto spelled out:

Eliminate Torah, eliminate true Jewish identity, eliminate any hopes of having true, Jewish sovereignty over the Land of Israel.
