מי כן תתמנה בתור שר האוצר ומה ייצא מזה? ניר ברקת ראש העיר של ירושלים לשעבר גילה את רצונו להיות רה״מ. כמה סבלנות יש לו? מספיק כדי למנוע או לדחות מהפכה בממשלת נתניהו?

ומה עם מאיר כהן ראש העיר של דימונה האמור להיות המועמד הרשמי לדובר הכנסת של מפלגת כחול לבן? מומלץ לשים לב לפעילויות שלו. אולי אני אפרט את דעתי עליו במאמר נוסף.

Gantz, who was last week tapped by President Reuven Rivlin to form the next government, announced at the last minute Thursday that he was standing for Knesset speaker, despite an internal Blue and White agreement to tap former Dimona mayor Meir Cohen for the role...

...According to the agreements reached so far, Gantz's Israel Resilience party will receive the foreign, defense, justice and the economy ministries and Gantz will become locum prime minister.

Channel 12 also reported that Gantz will take over as prime minister in 18 months.

Likud's Israel Katz, who is currently foreign minister, will receive the treasury portfolio and Yuli Edelstein will return to the position of Knesset speaker. (cont.)

I have to admit that I didn't expect such this at all.

How will Prime Minister Netanyahu present Benny Gantz in the future? Will Gantz continue to be seen as the State of Israel's hero? Or will the Prime Minister sit quietly every time they criticize him?

Be prepared to listen to MK Yair Lapid and MK Moshe "Boogie" Ya'alon's press conference tonight. They must be livid! Will they call Gantz a "traitor?"

And is Prime Minister Netanyahu really ready to let Gantz replace him in 18 months? Or will there be another election before that?

And expect even more drama soon ...

Yisrael Katz will be appointed Finance Minister. But that role was promised to former Jerusalem Mayor Nir Barakat. People close to him say they trust Netanyahu will fulfill his promise, and will appoint Barakat to to the Finance Ministry.

So, who will be appointed Minister of Finance and what will happen as a result? Nir Barkat has revealed his desire to become prime minister someday. How much patience will he have? Enough to prevent or postpone a revolution in Netanyahu's government?

And what about Meir Cohen, the former mayor of Dimona who was supposed to be the official Knesset Speaker candidate for of the Blue and White Party? I recommend you pay attention to him. Maybe I'll elaborate on my opinion of him in another post.

In the meantime, let's listen to Lapid and Gantz tonight. Who's bringing the popcorn?!

במשך שנים כתבתי,התראיינתי,הזהרתי על התנהלותו השמאלנית והמסוכנת של ניר ברקת, ראש עיריית ירושלים!

הרוב הסכימו עמי ותמכו בעמדתי,אך עדיין נותר קומץ שהלך והצטמצם של פעילי ימין וליכוד שהאמינו לאיש השמאל שהתחפש לאיש ימין.

לצערי הרב,למדיניות המסוכנת של ניר ברקת היו שותפים, אנשי התעוררות בירושלים שבועדה המחוזית והמקומית ייצגו את מדיניותו של ברקת ושכחו את האינטרס של הציבור הירושלמי.

המדיניות של ברקת וחבריו מהשמאל החילוני בעיר,היא שגרמה לתחלואי העיר שעימה בכוונתי להתמודד בקדנציה הבאה של מועצת העיר ירושלים.
1. עליית מחירי הדיור.שנבעה מהמדיניות שזאב אלקין מתאר.
2. הרעה במאזן הדמוגרפי בין ערבים ליהודים שנבעה ממדיניותו הקלוקלת של ברקת.
3. יצירת מוקדי חיכוך בשכונות מעורבות, בשל הגירה חרדית מסיבית לשכונות מעורבות. הגירה שנובעת מהמדיניות ש זאב אלקין תיאר.

פעם, היתה חברת מועצת עיריית ירושלים שהציעה [או משהו כזה] להקים ערים חדשות לקהילה החרדית. לדעתי, הכוונה שלה היתה למנוע מעליית האוכלוסיה החרדית בעיר. לפי מהמדיניות שח״כ אלקין (ליכוד) מתאר, ניר ברקת פועל למען אותה המטרה, אבל בישירות יותר מחברת המועצת הזאת.

בבחירות לקראת עלית ברקת לתפקיד ראש העיר, השמאלנים הסתובבו בעיר לדבר עם הדתיים הלאומים כדי לשבנע אותם להצביע לברקת ולא למנחם פרוש (יהדות התורה).

הם היו שואלים שאלות כאלה:
אתם רוצים שיגידו לנשים שלהם לכסות את ראשיהן?
להגיד להן איך להתלבש?
באמת, אתם לא מפחדים לגור בעיר חרדית??
 
כבר ברור שאריה קינג צודק. ברקת בכלל לא איש ימיני, וצריכים להתעורר לעובדה הזאת. אבל לא להתבלבל ולא להתעורר בטעם האירגון ״התעוררות ירושלים״ שבכלל לא קבוצה במרכז הפוליטי, אלא היא שמאלנית.

בבחירות הקודמות, היו חסידים משוכנעים להצביע לברקת בגלל סיבות אחרות. אני מקווה שהחרדים האלה גם לא יטעו עודה פעם בבחירות הבאות.

Once, there was a Jerusalem City Councilwoman who, "suggested" [or something like that] that more Haredi towns be established. In my opinion, her intention was to prevent the rise in Haredi population in the city. According to the policies which MK Ze'ev Elkin (Likud) describes, Nir Barakat is working toward the same goal, but more directly than this City Councilwoman.

In the elections leading up to Barakat's ascension to mayor, leftists were go around the city speaking with the Religious Zionist and Modern Orthodox sectors in order to persuade them to vote for Barakat, and not for MK Menachem Porush (Untied Torah Judaism).

They would ask questions like:
Do you want your wives to be told to cover their hair?
To tell them how to dress?
You really aren't afraid to live in a Haredi-controlled city?

It is already clear that Arieh King is right. Barakat is not at all a right-wing politician, and we must wake up. But not to be confused by the organization of Hitorarut Yerushalayim the "Awakening of Jerusalem" organization, which is not at all at the political center. But rather is leftist.

In the previous elections, there were Hasidim who were convinced to vote for Barakat for other reasons. I hope that these ultra-Orthodox will never make mistakes again in the next elections.

So, why do we keep letting these Arabs through the non-border crossing, border crossing?

Probably to justify further the impending re-drawing of borders by the Israeli Government.

Why do we keep letting any Arabs on the train, or for that matter the bus?

Because that would be "racist" and apartheid-like, and the Israeli Government apparently would rather risk the lives of Jews, than risk being labeled a "racist" country. Even though it already has been anyway, and there is not a darn think the government can do about it.

Jerusalem Mayor Nir Barakat thanked the security guards with a special meeting at the Mayors office. He said "We heard the story, and we're very impressed. Both due to the fact that you knew how to look for things which were out of the ordinary, that you managed to see the terrorist, and that you understood that he was suspicious. You saved a lot of lives today."

On the surface, this makes sense. Any other mayor around the world would do the same. But, to top it off...

He continued, saying "Jerusalem tips its hat to you both, and I wanted to invite you both to my office to personally thank you and to hold you both up as examples for the citizens of Jerusalem. Congratulations." 

Tips its hat? That's a goyshe expression.

Jews do not tip their hats. We keep our hats on.

Jerusalem Mayor Nir Barkat called on civilians who own firearms to carry them at all times in the wake of a spate of stabbing and shooting attacks by Palestinians in Jerusalem, the West Bank and various places in Israel. “I think that carrying a licensed pistol and knowing what to do with it is imperative; it’s like doing reserve duty,” said the mayor in an interview to Army Radio on Thursday morning.

“In retrospect, we can see that statistically the neutralization of terrorists was often done by capable people who weren’t necessarily policemen,” said Barkat, explaining his call for “weapon owners who know how to use them should carry them.”

Ashdod police commander Noam Shekel echoed that call at a town council meeting, where he urged city residents who own weapons to carry them “in order to increase the sense of security in the city.”

Criteria for licensing weapons were eased last year in the wake of a series of terrorist attacks. According to Knesset statistics, in 2013 there were 157,000 legal weapons in private hands in Israel, with 43,000 additional ones in the hands of security guards and another 130,000 rifles and pistols held by different organizations. These numbers do not include military firearms, or guns used by police or prison services. In addition, there were 7,000 unlicensed guns in 2012.

However, the Knesset Interior Committee demanded that the police prohibit security guards from bringing their weapons home, citing figures showing that at least 30 people were murdered over the last decade by weapons belonging to off–duty security guards.

MK Tzipi Livni (Zionist Camp) said during a tour of the Old City in Jerusalem that “transferring responsibility to the citizens of Israel and calls for carrying weapons indicate a loss of control by the government and will lead to total anarchy.” (cont.)

Mayor Barakat is right to encourage citizens to carry weapons. He is of course, careful to say "citizens," and not "Jews." Either he is still in denial of the reality of Israel's Arab "citizens," or he believes that he should keep quiet about it, for the sake of his political career.

In another report from Ha'Aretz (Hebrew), he suggests that we should see ourselves as being on reserve duty. However, I also think that someone needs to tell Mayor Barakat that the State of Israel has been disarming its citizens, for years now. After declaring that the criteria for licensing weapons were eased last year,"

Living in Yehudah and Shomron (Judea and Samaria), where it would supposedly be easier to procure a weapon's license, weapons are being taken away for the slightest infraction. Security companies have been taking over the security of Jewish towns, from its residents. (No doubt, due to collaboration of local councils with the State.)

Residents who apply to work for these companies are told that they may not work in their own towns. Even though it would obviously be very convenient for them and their families. Apparently, the State is already looking ahead to the next round of planned expulsions of Jews. A resident of a town working security in his town is a lot less likely to participate in the expulsion of Jews from his own town.

Ha'Aretz's Nir Hasson conveniently omits the number of weapons on the streets today. How much of an increase in weapons licenses has this easing of criteria produced?

But, I digress...

MK Livni (non-Zionist Camp) is right about the "transferring of responsibility to the citizens" to protect themselves. Someone has to protect us, and since the State of Israel isn't, why shouldn't we be allowed, and even encouraged to protect ourselves?

For that matter, in our current state, I am not so sure that "a loss of control by the government" and "total anarchy" would be such bad things.

In answer to BDS (Boycott, Divest, Sanction) against Israel, which Jews around the world seem to be freaking out about, and begging the goyim to love us, through Hasbarah nonsense, I suggest that we just give them as taste of their own medicine.

We could be more self-sufficient than we think, if we would only stop exporting what we need, such as food from the southern end of Israel, exempt from shemitah (sabbatical year), and other agricultural laws.

Instead of selling telephone and computer parts, desert irrigation and solar power technologies and products for cash or credit, we could get guarantees of sales of food and other things which really need. They reneg on their agreements with us, then they do not get their technologically wondrous, adult toys and toy parts.

Of course, this is all just a pipe dream, as the Israeli Government seems to have other, totally co-dependent and otherwise ridiculous, strategies in mind.

So, if the government is not going to help us do something productive, then why don't we just implement our own Jewish BDS (ie. Torah BDS) against those who are the real problem, those who pander to the non-Torah standards of the "international community?" This includes many Jews in Israel who do not realize that BDS is actually doing the Jewish People a favor, as well as the "Jewish" supporters of BDS against Israel, who are doing so for completely the wrong reasons.

So, who should Jews Boycott, Divest, and Sanction?

I have two, local choices for health food: Olam HaTeva (Nature World), owned by a religious family, or the store which employs an Arab, both on Agrippas Street near the Shuq. Which do you suppose I patronize?

You see, if Jews believe that Israel is now in a position of power (יד ישראל תקיפה), within its own Land, then we are not to make it easy for any non-Jews to reside here, save for gerei toshav (resident aliens). This is the position of the Ramba"m (Mishneh Torah, Hil. A"Z, ch. 10).

How anyone identifying himself as a "Religious Zionist" could possible think the Israel is not in such a position of power, I have no idea.

Israel's Chief Rabbinate recently demonstrated its understanding of this halakhah (Torah Law) by granting one non-Jew the status of ger toshav (דעת הראב״ד), desiring someone non Jewish to whom it would be permissible halakhically (according to Torah Law) to sell parts of Eretz Yisra'el (Land of Israel), in order to exempt these Lands from keeping the Laws of Shemitah, the Sabbatical Year (ie. Heter Mekhirah).

Even from a Western perspective, it seems that Jews have bought in to the same old double standards the goyim continue to preach.

LGBTQ's support LGBTQ businesses.

African Americans support African American businesses as a form of self-empowerment.

So do women, and in particular feminists.

But, when a Jew wants to support a Jewish-owned business, then all of a sudden, it's racist.

And, when Muslims and Arabs support Muslim and Arab businesses, it is somehow justified, and we are not allowed to call it discriminatory?

Tura Winery and the P'sagot Winery benefit from Christian "volunteers." Of course, they say that they are committed not to missionize Jews. When they praise God while picking grapes and olives, just exactly who do you think they have in mind? Why, their false deity (and/or messiah and/or intercessor and/or rebbe) of course! Take your pick. It doesn't matter. That's because they have changed their strategies,...for now.

They want a foothold on our Land, believing that they are the true inheritors of The Almighty's favor, and thus Eretz Yisr'ael (Land of Israel). Some believe this inheritance comes with the Jews; some believe it comes without. ( They just a foothold in our Land, and to get some pieces for themselves. Boy do they have a rude awakening coming! LOL!

More and more, Christian missionaries are being protected by the spirit of the State of Israel's spirit of democratic, "freedom of religious expression."

Of course, this deMOCKratic protection applies to everyone, except for those Jews the government feels threatened by, and thus calls "extremists," as they dare to hold Torah Law above that of the man-made mishmash of laws from the Ottoman Empire and British Mandate.

No one, however, is protected from the choices we make as to where we spending our hard earned sheqqels.

Do your own Internet search for "Jewish Labor Israel" and you will see just how scathing the opposition is against this one time source of Jewish national pride.

Treif Sellers
In Jerusalem, there are more stores on Agrippas Street in the area of the Shuq, selling treif (non-kosher food) than ever, not to mention those butcher shops in the center of town!

Need something kosher, an imported product perhaps, which they happen to sell there? Don't think that you can get anywhere else? Well, then take the extra time, and the extra money to buy it at a store which does not sell treif, and which is not open on Shabbath!

Can't find one? Then live without it.

I mean, why on earth would any Religious Jew patronize a store which sells treif ??!!

I obtained the following list of restaurants opened on Shabbath in Jerusalem from TimeOut טיים אאוט which we should also boycott, except for using it to keep an eye on these issues, I suppose.

...not everything is closed for the Sabbath.

Café Bezalel, Bezalel St. 12
Bezalel is a new entry to the list of Jerusalem businesses which are open Saturdays, and we're already asking ourselves how we ever managed without it. The café, located opposite the building that used to house the founder of the Bezalel Academy of Arts and Design, is a young and vibrant coffee house. Its menu changes throughout the day and fits any and all meals. On Fridays the external seating area becomes part of the Bezalel arts and crafts fair, filling the street with people and colors.

Talbiya, Chopin St. 3
Israeli top chefs Assaf Granit, Yossi Elad and Uri Navon long ago established the famous Machne Yuda group, which operates restaurants all over the city. Though the eponymous flagship restaurant is not open on weekends, the group's Mona and Hasadna certainly are. Now the two are joined by a third sister, Talbiya. Talbiya is defined as a wine bar and functions during the day as a café. Next to your coffee you can enjoy freshly made baked goods, while next to your wine you can choose from various elegant dishes by chef Nir Levi. The meticulously designed space and selection of seating options make Talbiya the perfect host for your weekend.

Zoni is your regular around-the-clock brasserie, except for the view out the windows: instead of Paris you get to look out at the picturesque back streets of Nahalat Shiv'a. The atmosphere inside, however, still maintains a certain European air, with black leather seats, dark hardwood floors, a wide bar and waiters in fine uniform. The menu, which changes between breakfast, lunch and dinner, is similarly full of treats from far away lands. Recommendations are endless but you will be wise to keep one thing in mind: the french toast – available in all three menus – is by itself reason enough for pilgrimage.

Its different parts all fit in harmoniously under a single roof while still making you feel right at home. Tourists, students, youth and adults all fill the space from noon to the following morning, with the atmosphere constantly changing.

“Every drink has its place,” wrote S. Y. Agnon, nearly prophesying this unique café, which in turn is named in an appropriately Agnonesque fashion. Decorating the walls are items as carefully chosen as the dishes on the menu. Some of the dishes are regular while others change daily, and all are written casually on the chalkboard. The small café is located in the renovated Yanai street, hiding from the ever noisy Shlomzion street like a well kept secret. Beit HaKava is slowly turning into a true weekend gem and was recently joined by another weekend-strong café, Etz Cafe.

The opening of the First Station Plaza is great news for Jerusalem weekenders, as it does not entirely shut down for Shabbath. Adom, which became a serious establishment since its opening in 2001, relocated to First Station from its previous location at Feingold Yard. Here it continues to host guests even – or maybe especially – on weekends. You will feel truly privileged to sit in Adom's sleek space and glance at their menu, which specializes in fresh seafood and fish. Completing the culinary experience is a selection of meats, pastas, salads and a wide array of wines.

On weekends the German Colony gets to show its quiet side, as the businesses on Emek Refaim street close shop and all that's left is a green and peaceful residence area. One who seeks carefully will be reworded with finding Cade Smadar...

Notice some of the words I highlighted, some probable code for treif, as well as suggestions of being in a hidden away location. Good! These restaurants should be embarrassed, as should be their customers!

Personally, I would add Aroma to this list. The Aroma in town on Hillel Street and the one on Hebrew University, Mt. Scopus are also open on Shabbath, not to mention countless other branches.

I was pretty surprised that Aroma, with its crappy coffee, and even worse service, but which everyone slobbers over anyway, did not make the top ten favorite Shabbath hangouts.

Besides boycotting such places, operating on Shabbath, some have suggested more active protesting as well.

Many have heard of Haredi protests against businesses open on Shabbath. But, Haredim are not the only ones organizing protesting. There have been public tefilloth Shabbath (Shabbath prayers) outside of a restaurants on Azza Street and Betzalel Street.

By the way, do you want to see a movie? Well, don't see it at Yes Planet. No doubt you have heard of the complex's recent, grand opening, and commitment to operating on Shabbath.

What's the problem if you see a movie during the week? The problem is that you are supporting a business which is open on Shabbath., and thus encouraging countless Jews to violate Shabbath.

Last, but definitely not least on the Jewish BDS list is the Mayor of Jerusalem himself, Nir Barakat.

How was this Kadima Party, and now independent, mayor was able to get elected in a city with a majority of voters registered with United Torah Judaism, Likud, and Jewish Home parties?

...An internal, Haredi squabble and left-wing, anti-Haredi fear mongering targeting the Religious Zionist voters in the city.

And, now, we see even see Haredi politicians willing to settle for a compromise on the Yes Planet Shabbath debacle!

Mayor Barakat does not just support the Yes Planet Mall, and its operation on Shabbath, he supports more than a few initiatives which contradict the Torah.

You see, it is crucial to keep in mind that the Torah is not just about "Shabbos and Kashrus shailos;" it concerns every facet of a Jew's life.

Do you want Torah or democracy? You do not honestly believe that you can have both, do you?

2. Put the face of Disney on it.
3. Leak to the news how this latest technology recently "saved lives."
4. Make sure the message gets out there just how much the masses "need" the government to protect them.

Our greatest defense against drones is twofold:

1. Stay informed, connect the dots, and realize what is happening right in front of our eyes.
2. Don't have anything to hide.

Where Mayor Barakat sits on the powers that be food chain, I cannot say. However, I will hazard a guess that he is not the one we need to be worrying about.

It is not clear to me how my fellow councilmembers from the Haredi factions, have condoned the distribution of avodah zarah (foreign/forbidden worship) by city employees. The Jerusalem Municipality will distribute 100 free Christmas trees for Christmas

Jerusalem municipality horticultural department will also distribute 100 free Christmas trees this year to Christian residents of Jerusalem celebrating Christmas

Distribution of Christmas trees will be held on Monday December 22, 2014 at the Jaffa Gate, starting at 9:00 am until 12:00 noon, contingent upon presentation of a current identification card with an address in the Old City.

As in every year Jerusalem Mayor Nir Barkat will hold a welcoming ceremony for the new year for the heads of religions in Jerusalem. The ceremony will take place on Wednesday January 28, 2015 in the City Council Chambers at 7:30 pm.

The Municipality of Jerusalem would like to bless its Christian residents with Merry Christmas.

I guess Mayor Barakat and the rest of the City Council couldn't take the hint from last year's damaged Christmas tree crop. Either that, or they simply weren't paying attention.

I am not sure that we can blame Mayor Barakat too much. After all, he doesn't know any better. He believes in "democracy" and "pluralism," not in Torah.

What are the Haredi factions' excuses? What are the excuses of other kippah-wearing, City Councilmembers?

I cannot think of any, save for money, votes, or gross distortions and rationalize compromises of the Torah.

Take your pick. They are all completely unacceptable.

Yet another terrorist attack was carried out this morning. But, the real differences between this attack and any other will be how it will be played out by the Israeli Government controlled mainstream news media and how it will be responded to.

Two terrorists infiltrate synagogue in Har Nof neighborhood of capital, attacks worshipers with axes, guns, knives; eight people wounded; two terrorists killed.

Four people were killed Tuesday morning in a terror attack on a synagogue and yeshiva in the Har Nof neighborhood in Jerusalem. Eight others were wounded, four are in moderate to serious condition.

As far as is known, two terrorists wielding axes, knives and guns arrived at the site on Har Shimon Agassi Street in the capital, which includes a synagogue and yeshiva (rabbinical seminary), and carried out two attacks in two locations.

The terrorists were killed, following a gunfight with police officers who arrived at the scene. According to an initial investigation the terrorists came from East Jerusalem. The wounded were taken to Shaare Zedek Medical Center and Hadassah Ein Kerem.

The attack comes after weeks of tensions and clashes in the capital, including a series of terror attacks in which six people were killed.

In March 2008, a Palestinian terrorist infiltrated the Mercaz Harav rabbinical seminary in the Old City of Jerusalem and opened fire on a crowded study hall, killing eight people and wounding six others.

How do "Palestinian" Arabs manage to make into Jerusalem as far west as Har Nof? Har Nof is about as far west in Jerusalem as you can get, and only two small neighborhoods away from the 2008 terrorist attack on another yeshiva, Merkaz HaRav. That attack was carried out by an Arab employee of a company making a delivery to the yeshivah.

Who were this mornings Arab terrorists of the day? Were they employees of Jews as well?

When will we learn? When will the government learn? Left-wing news sources are desperately trying to differentiate between Arabs with Israeli citizenship and those without, calling the latter "Palestinians."

But, six years ago, the murdered of eight yeshivah students who was from "East" Jerusalem, was referred to as an "Arab." Now, he is referred to as a "Palestinian."

The news media appears to have given up on East Jerusalem as remain a part of the State controlled portions of Eretz Yisra'el (Land of Israel). Has the Israeli Government given up on it as well? Are the news media giving out hints to this? Are they attempting to prepare the Israeli public for the inevitable?

Yeshiva World News provides us with the a statement from Jerusalem Mayor Nir Barakat:

“Jerusalem bows its head in pain and sorrow on this difficult morning. Jerusalem residents peacefully praying in a synagogue in the heart of Jerusalem were cruelly slaughtered in cold blood while wearing their taleisim.

“I promise Jerusalem residents that we will continue to fight terror with full force and we will do everything in our power to restore peace and security to Jerusalem.

“I call on Israel’s national government and security forces to provide Jerusalem with all of the support necessary to fight terror.

“I call on the international community to strongly condemn this horrific act.

“We will not surrender to terror. We will stand strong and defend our city from those who try to disturb the peace of our capital.”

Hasn't the Israeli Government already been doing everything in its power to prevent such attacks?

Has it been pulling from its resources, dedicated to harassing Jews, and repositioning them to reinforce those designated to protect us from Arab terrorist attacks?

Is the Israeli Government that inept that we have had this many terrorist attacks in recent weeks in Jerusalem alone?

Or are these attacks being allowed to occur in order to gain sympathy from the "international community?"

Any of the possible case scenarios (red) I suggest here would be disturbing. The only question is precisely how the Israeli Government is not being in the least bit helpful.

This morning's terrorist attack was not just another terrorist attack in Jerusalem.

However, it was just another excuse to be used by the Israeli Government to set up a memorial, to beg for sympathy, (which we will never recieve), to withdraw from Land, and throw more money at the Arabs, "Palestinian" or not.

How long will we, the Jewish People, allow this to continue?

So, unfortunately, one of my theories was correct. When will we learn?

Not only are the U. S. Elections for president, House of Representatives, and one third of the Senate just two days away, but just last Sunday, Israeli Foreign Minister and Kadima Party Head Tzippy Livni was forced to announce that she was unable to form a government. After President Shimon Peres met with political faction heads, he determined that the only option was to dissolve the current Kenesseth (parliament), which he did last Monday. Israelis will go to the polls to elect a new Kenesseth probably in Shvat 5769/February, 2009.

Meanwhile, Jerusalem residents will elect a new mayor and city council in only 16 days. Most other cities in Israel are also holding elections on 15 Marheshwan/November 11, including Tel-Aviv, Beth Shemesh, Tzfath and Qiriyath Shemonah.

You can see why I had to call this edition of Haveil Havalim is called the "Elections Edition."

This edition will seem a bit loaded toward McCain. What can I say? No one sent me any pro-Obama stuff....

Even though I packed a lot of posts into this edition, I hope that I provided enough annotation, so that it still maintains its time-saving, "everything conveniently listed in one place" feature, like a web portal.

Truth be told, it really would have been difficult to eliminate any of the posts from the elections sections. They were all good. And after all, this was "The Elections Edition."
