The U.S. Navy is moving warships and aircraft closer to Israel in the aftermath of an unprecedented assault on the country from Hamas terrorists, a U.S. military official tells Fox News.

United States Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin told Fox News in a statement that he directed the movement of the USS Gerald R. Ford Carrier Strike Group to the Eastern Mediterranean following detailed discussions with President Biden about the Hamas attack on Israel that has killed at least 600 Israelis.

The warships include the U.S. Navy aircraft carrier USS Gerald R. Ford (CVN-78), the Ticonderoga-class guided missile cruiser USS Normandy (CG 60), as well as the Arleigh-Burke-class guided missile destroyers USS Thomas Hudner (DDG 116), USS Ramage (DDG 61), USS Carney (DDG 64), and USS Roosevelt (DDG 80)....

...The Pentagon has not clarified whether it would use military force to assist Israel in the conflict. Israel formally declared war on Hamas on Sunday, its first such declaration since 1973.

Does this action help US President Biden politically?

Does this action help Prime Minister Netanyahu politically?

Does this action give the US more influence and control in the region?

Why hasn't the US done something like this yet when Hamas attacked Israel in the past? Because Hamas has not been able to penetrate Israel so far?

And now that the U. S. is on its way, is the logic that the U. S. can get away with bombing Gaza more than Israel? That is, assuming they enter the frey.

I still want to know why Israel does not deal with Hamas only from the air, thus saving countless lives. Concerns over the outrage from the "international community," no doubt,... and perhaps also concerns over the use of kidnapped and tortured Israelis being used as human shields.

In addition, if the U. S. bombs Gaza, risking the lives of Israelis held hostage, then less trauma to Israeli Air Force [IAF] pilots. The Israeli Defense Forces [IDF] learned this the hard way during the 2005 expulsion of Jews from Gaza and Northern Samaria, and afterwards from the reports of IDF psychologists.

Or is this all just an excuse for U. S. ships and troops to edge closer to the Ukraine?

A lot of questions, and not a lot of answers.
