Egypt’s New Constitution: Laying the Basis for an Islamist, Sharia State

On November 30, a Constituent Assembly consisting almost 100 percent of Islamists voted to approve the draft of Egypt’s new constitution. The next day, President Muhammad Mursi ordered that a referendum be held on December 15. In other words, Egypt’s population will be given two weeks to consider the main law, which has 230 articles, that will govern their lives for decades to come.

Most of the non-Islamists had walked out of the Assembly because they objected to the proposed constitution, and it seems as if the remaining opposition members did not even attend the vote. So great is the outrage that Egypt’s judges — who supervise elections and were explicitly asked by Mursi to oversee the forthcoming referendum – have refused to do so. (snip)

Oh, yeah, and their will be a next time.  The only question is whether it will be Turkey, Algeria, Jordan, or one of any number of other countries.  Perhaps this will be Syria's fate in the near future.

There is an expression:

The U. S. Government has been kvelling over the spread of the 'truth, beauty, and [apparent] freedom' of Democracy, around the world. In the 1980's, the Iron Wall came tumbling down, and one by one, Eastern European countries were reborn as democratic governments. The democratic wave soon spread throughout the member states of the Former Soviet Union,...well,...sort of.

Gee, do you think that perhaps this is because Arabs may actually be culturally-oriented in a completely different direction than the West?  The Uber Left refuse acknowledge the implications of this.  They like to chalk up their refusal to "cultural differences."  But, in reality it is just a gross denial of the impending terrorist take over staring them in the face.

Tokens such as King Abdullah of Jordan, along with assorted doctors, engineers, and other scientists are propped up as poster children for how the Arabs can see the light of Western European culture and change.

They do not call it that, of course.  Rather they have deluded themselves into thinking that they're just like them.

It is almost as if the liberal west has been seduced by the deep brown eyes of its fantasy Arab, and has been blinded to everything else surrounding him.  Meanwhile, their "conservative" counterparts have indeed, been seduced, by Arab oil, that is.

Horror stories of women unable to leave Arab countries with their children, if at all, honor killings and female, sexual mutilation, are anomalies, if the even exist at all.

Israel being bombarded by rockets from Hezbollah to the north, Hamas to the south, and sometimes both, is immaterial.

But this time, unlike 2011, it is the regime that enjoys the support of the armed forces and Western governments, being buttressed also with almost $10 billion in aid. “The people” aren’t going to bring down this regime and the new rulers are going to implement their interpretation of “God’s law.” That is the new meaning of democracy in Egypt. Westerners have made their bed.  And, now they have to sleep in it.

–Islamic Sharia law is the main source of Egypt’s laws. While this has been in previous constitutions, the problem is interpreting how strictly Sharia will be interpreted and how widely it will be applied. What that passage means for Egypt is going to be a lot more significant under a Muslim Brotherhood government with major input from even more radical Salafists than it did under President Husni Mubarak’s relatively secular-style regime.

–A basic principle of the Constitution (Article 4) is to consult al-Azhar, the country’s influential Islamic university on any issue when Sharia is concerned, which potentially means on every issue. That elevates al-Azhar above all other non-governmental institutions. Al-Azhar is not (yet?) in Muslim Brotherhood hands but its leaders, who know which way the wind blows, can be expected to back a tough interpretation of Sharia law.

– To further ensure that Egypt will be a Sharia state, another provision (Article 219) states that the principles of Sharia are to be found in the four Sunni schools of thought, ruling out any reformist possibilities.

The next time anyone writes an article, reporting similar "democratic" activities in Arab countries, I expect,....  No, I demand that the author conclude with the following statement:

"Is anyone really surprised?"

After all, look at Hamas.  It, too, was a "democratically elected" government.

The U. N Approves A Pseudostinian State

Many people have already asked me what I think of the UN's recognition of "Palestine," and what we should do about it.

My response?

"It doesn't have to mean anything.  But, the Israeli government, along with Jews around the world will allow it to mean something."

It is as simple as that.

People around the world have bought into the Palestinian lie.  What is there for us to do about it?  We have given that lie power, by being wishy-washy about it what it really is, a big, fat lie.

It is a lie that the Arabs have any connection to the Land of Israel at all.  One only has to read Tana"kh (The Bible), to know that the Yishma'elim (Arabs) entered Israel only when the Jewish Kingdoms were weak. They murdered, raped, and pillaged, then left when they were done.  Sound familiar?  It should.  Only the swords have long since been replaced by guns, courtesy of the Israeli and U. S. governments, not to mention the sanctioned smuggling.

Arafat once tried calling his group of Yishma'elim descendants of the Jebusites, and thus the rightful owners of Jerusalem.

Many of you won't even remember this silly ploy.  That is how effective it was, not effective at all. So, they simply ditched this lie, hoped that everyone would forget about it, and moved onto the next lie.

These Arabs, albeit pawns of their big brothers in the surrounding Yishma'eli countries, cannot be Palestinians, because there is no Palestine.  Palestine was what the Romans insisted on calling all of Israel.  Even though Philistia was actually localized to the area of Gaza and surrounds.  The Roman goal was the same as many modern day countries: Diminish the Jews' integral connection to the Land of Israel.  Nablus, for example, is simply a bastardization of the Roman Neopolis. (Arabs have difficulties in pronouncing the the "p" sound.)

Nablus was never an ancient Palestinian city.  Although is was most certainly an ancient city.  It was, and is, called Shchem, a portion of which was actually purchased with money by our ancestor Ya'aqov (Jacob - Gen. 33:18-19).

Thus I prefer to call these Yishma'elim, "Pseudostinians," a term I got from Batya at Shiloh Musings. See her take on this UN vote, Standing Ovation For The Displacement/Destruction/Replacement Of Israel.

And, of course, as Tomer Devorah suggests, it was no accident that this vote took place on November 29, which was the same date in 1947 the UN voted to approve its partition plan for the area, making the way for Israeli statehood.

Meanwhile, UN Secretary General Ban Ki Moon mistakenly calls for a One-State Solution.

Either this slip shows just exactly how much he hates Israel, or shows the true end result of Israel's success, deep in everyone's unconscious, or both.

In response to the UN vote, Israel approved new construction after UN vote.  Knowing the Israeli government, this was probably just its version of sticking out its tongue at the Arabs, and the rest of the world.  We should not need the approval of the rest of the world to build on Jewish lands.  Actually, we should not need the the approval from the Israeli government to do so, either.

A "Palestinian" Quiz has been making its rounds on the Internet lately.  It is captured here by Ya'akov Kirschen in his Dry Bones comic strip.  It validates the use of the term "Pseudostinian."

But, why not let an Arab have the last word?  Hey, there's a first time for everything, right?  This isn't just any Arab, but a former commander of the Pseudostinian Liberation Organization [PLO].

Congresswoman: Federalize ban on counseling to change sexual orientation

A California congresswoman wants to federalize a state law to prohibit counseling to change a person’s sexual orientation, including that of pedophiles.

Rep. Jackie Speier has introduced a resolution that calls on states to prohibit efforts to change a minor’s sexual orientation, even if the minor requests it, saying doing so is “dangerous and harmful.”

The resolution is modeled after California’s SB 1172, which passed earlier this year. The bill, which has several lawsuits pending against its implementation, has been labeled by both opponents and supporters as “banning ‘gay’ conversion therapy.”

However, the text of the legislation doesn’t specifically ban “gay” conversion therapy but, instead, prohibits attempts to change a person’s sexual orientation.

“‘Sexual orientation change efforts’ means any practices by mental health providers that seek to change an individual’s sexual orientation. This includes efforts to change behaviors or gender expressions, or to eliminate or reduce sexual or romantic attractions or feelings toward individuals of the same sex,” the bill says.

Speier’s resolution contains similar language saying, “It is the sense of Congress that sexual orientation and gender identity or expression change efforts directed at minors are … dangerous and harmful.” However, the term “sexual orientation” is not defined in either the California bill or Speier’s resolution. “This language is so broad and vague, it arguably could include all forms of sexual orientation including pedophilia,” said Brad Dacus, president of the Pacific Justice Institute. “It’s not just the orientation that is protected, the conduct associated with the orientation is protected as well.” (con't.)

Minor makes an excellent point about the ambiguity of the language of this proposed bill, ambiguity which must be addressed.

However, there are even deeper issues which are problematic about this bill, even if such ambiguity did not exist.

As a psychotherapist, I am no fan of so called "reparative therapy." I will not get into why, right now. Nonetheless, I have some very important questions about this bill.

This bill appears to cover any type of therapy, with one particular goal in mind, sexual orientation change. Why is this decision being put into the hands of politicians, and not the professionals?

As a professional, it will not matter if you are left-wing, right-wing, religious, secular, or somewhere in between. If this bill passes, your professional judgment will be compromised; your professional discretion will be taken out of your hands.

And, what about the patient?

Just for the sake of example, there are those individuals who come into therapy for reasons other than anxiety about their sexual orientation, and changing it is the farthest thing from their minds.  Such an individual may have past traumas or other difficult experiences surface, with which he wants to face and work through with the guidance of a professional therapist.

What happens if, in the course of therapy, he discovers that his homosexual feelings and behaviors might actually be manifestations, resulting from childhood  molestation?

Or perhaps he ran away from home, and to survive on the streets, entered the world of prostitution, found [even the most marginally] healthy relationships in that world which reinforced his new behaviors which were already responsible for a roof over his head and food on the table?

Doesn't this patient, entering psychotherapy, have the right to take a look at his life, and determine its course, without the interference from the government?

Doesn't this patient have the right to heal from his past traumatic experiences and other difficulties, without the government dictating to his mental health professional how to do that?

The bottom lines here are twofold:

1) The rights of a patients receiving psychotherapy will be compromised if this bill is passed.

2) The rights, and professional standards, mental health practitioners will be compromised if this bill is passed.

 This bill is just another sneaky example of how the U. S. and other governments want to tell its constituents what and how to think and believe, and not the other way around, as it should be.

Who Is Voting For The Jewish Home Party?

One person commented on a string on Facebook that he intended to vote for Bayit Yehudi (Jewish Home Party).  He was concerned about making sure that Religious Zionist institutions receive necessary funding. He also suggested that Prime Minister Netanyahu does not care about what Religious Zionist institutions looked like.

1. Funding: 
Anyone who ends up joining the government will have its funding determined by the government.  In other word, the current, and probably continuing, Prime Minister Netanyahu's government will be making those determinations.

So, if you are concerned about solely with your community receiving funding for its institutions, then all you have to do is to make sure that your community's representatives join whichever government gets into power.

Take a lesson from some other Israeli political parties from 1993 (Oslo Death Accords) and 2005 (Jewish Expulsion from Azza), which shall remain nameless for now.

2. Religious Zionist Institutions:
I am absolutely positive that whoever is truly calling the shots IS interested in what the Religious Zionist institutions look like.

Why?

To make sure that undying State-loyalism is held above Torah.  Worse yet, to make sure that Religious Zionist children are brainwashed into believing that undying State-loyalism = Torah! (חו"ח)

After all, the government believes that there is a limit as to how far its Mamlakhti "rabbinic" puppets can be trusted.

3. The Jewish Home Party:

Newly chosen party head Naftali Bennet may turn out to be a helpful Member of K'nesseth.

We will see. 

But most of the rest of them, are Mamlakhtim (undying, don't refuse orders to throw Jews out of their homes, State=Torah) "Religious" Zionists. 

This is why my fellow Torah Nationalist friends either home school their, fund their own schools, like in Yitzhar, or send their kids to Haredi schools such as Boston, and concern themselves with hashqafah when they arrive home. 

What does that tell you about the state of Religious Zionist institutions?

They don't want their kids indoctrinated into the undying State-loyalist, system of brainwashing education. 

Thus, there are at least Two Religious Zionist Camps, Not One.

One is The Real Religious Zionist, being both Religious and Zionist, BOTH concepts having been born exclusively from the Torah.

The other is...., well, confused and misguided.

Spain has decided to offer automatic citizenship to anyone who can successfully prove their Sephardi origins, Justice Minister Alberto Ruiz Gallardón announced during a ceremony last week at Madrid’s Casa Sefarad-Israel.

Presiding over the ceremony was Casa Sefarad-Israel director Florentino Portero, and attendees included Gallardón, Foreign and Cooperation Minister José Manuel García-Margallo, and Isaac Querub, president of the Federation of Jewish Communities and Casa Sefarad’s director, the Spanish daily El Pais reported.

In his speech, Querub referred to the “nostalgia” and “longing” of the Sephardim for Spain,...

Why aren't they longing for Eretz Yisrael? Pretty sad, coming from the president of the Federation of Jewish Communities.  I detect Erev Rav influence at play here.

...and the 500 years that had passed from the 1492 Expulsion Decree until King Juan Carlos’s 1992 visit to Madrid’s Beit Jacob synagogue, where the king emphasized that “the Hispanic Jews are at home.” 

No, they are not.  The only true, place for Jews to be at home is Eretz Yisra'el.

Querub said the king’s words had come true in the updated version of the Carta de Naturaleza (“conditions for citizenship”).

In that charter’s previous incarnation, the naturalization stipulations – for those who could prove they were Jews originating from Sefarad (Spain) – included a two-year residence period in the country. The upgrade has abolished that condition and allows for granting immediate citizenship to those able to come up with a mixture of family anecdotes, genealogical trees, ancestors buried in Jewish graves, language and customs, whether they live in Spain or abroad, said Gallardón.

He called the move a mechanism for putting the Sephardim back into Spain – “a procedure aimed at reuniting those who have been unjustly deprived of their nationality and have recreated in their hearts a Spain that they never resigned themselves to losing and that from now on is as much theirs as it is ours, under the law.” (cont.)

The Nice, But Ineffective Likud Party List Of Candidates

MK Michael Ben Ari (Power to Israel) said Tuesday that the newly selected Likud list contains good nationalist names – but those names are not enough to keep Likud's leader from steering the nation in the wrong direction. "Without a doubt," he said, "Elkin, Hotovely, Yariv Levin and Danny Danon are honest ideologues and they mean what they say. However, we must remember that they were already in the Knesset in the previous term, and that did not prevent Netanyahu from recognizing a Palestinian state and freezing construction in Judea and Samaria."

"The influence of these members is marginal, I am sorry to say, and it will continue to remain marginal. We see this already this morning, with Netanyahu saying that he wants to keep Dan Meridor and Benny Begin at his side."  What does that tell you about the Likud's true direction?

Ben Ari did not mention the newly elected Moshe Feiglin in his statement.

Ben Ari also blasted Foreign Minister Avigdor Lieberman. "The man is an elections hound, and history proves that on the eve of elections he always makes right wing statements and is suddenly deep within the Right, but it is no secret that inside, at home, in critical government votes, Lieberman turns out to be an opportunist, and he was a partner to all of this government's failures."

Ben Ari noted the government's "surrender" in Gaza as a case in point. "Instead of entering Gaza, erasing the enemy and bringing Hamas down on its knees, the Netanyahu-Lieberman government delivered a disappointment, and not for the first time."

Ben Ari heads the newly formed Power to Israel faction together with MK Aryeh Eldad.

MK Ben-Ari is right on point.

However, he failed to mention Danny Danon's history of collaboration with Christian missionaries, nor his infamous, and completely unnecessary, apology to Turkey.  He also neglected to mention the destruction of 10-year old neighborhood in Beth-El, the destruction of Migron, and the destruction of any number of other Jewish strongholds in Yehudah and Shomron (Judea and Samaria).

Nevertheless, it looks Ben-Ari and Eldad's "Power To Israel" Party will be getting my vote, come this 11 Shvat (January 22, 2013).

Oh, No. Not Another Israeli Political Party!

The thing about Tzippy Livni is that on the surface, she actually doesn't seem half bad, just horribly, horribly misguided.

She is certainly the most interesting candidate, having been a former spy.  Netanyahu (Likud) grew up in Northwest Philly and went to Harvard.  Boring!  At least his brother Yoni z"l was the heroic commander in a hijacking rescue operation.  Shaul Mofaz (Kadima) was an immigrant from Iran and a military man, Avigodor Lieberman was an immigrant from the Former Soviet Union, and Shelly Yahamovitch (Labor) a journalist, and TV news anchor.  (yawn) And let us not forget Ahmed Tibi ysh"w, who is a gynecologist. (Didn't he lose this year?)

What could be more interesting han being a spy?  I even suggested that her code name could have been The White Bird (See picture below).

Former FM Livni says she is the only ideological alternative to the Netanyahu government, says Netanyahu was the loser of the Likud primaries and could still lose in the general elections. Former Kadima leader Tzipi Livni's new political party is the only ideological alternative in the upcoming elections to Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu's government, she said at a press conference announcing the formation of her new political party, "The Movement."

Tzipporah = "bird;" Livni = from the word for "white"

I'm sorry, but in English, I cannot help but think of a particular "movement" the human body makes. מי שמבין יבין.

Livni said she only made the decision to run in the elections after former prime minister Ehud Olmert failed to declare his own candidacy.

Why did the JPost forget to mention Olmert's conviction and remaining pending charge?

"I entered (the race) because the political field remained empty," she said.

Empty? There's that much difference between Livni, a former Likudnik, and Mofaz (Kadima) or Yahamovitch (Labor)?  I think not.

"The Israeli people deserve better than a life in between rounds of violence," Livni said, adding that her children pushed her to continue fighting politically. "When my son went to fight in the South, I told him I would fight in my field so he won't have to fight in his."

Jewish mother of a soldier putting his life on the line:  Voters can relate to that, and not just other parents of soldiers.  She may exploit it, but it IS true.

She added: "Netanyahu lost the election in Likud," referencing the Likud's primary elections in which right-wing candidates beat out more moderate ones. "It was Netanyahu's loss and Feiglin's victory. Tomorrow it can be Netanyahu's loss and a victory for us all."

Again, Livni is correct, at least on the surface.  I doubt that Netanyahu, like Barak, has outlived his usefulness to the powers that be.  So, Netanyahu's "loss" must have some purpose which serves their interests.

Livni devoted a significant portion of her announcement to the diplomatic field, where she has the most experience, having played a major role in negotiations with the Palestinians under Ehud Olmert.

How is it supposed to help her by invoking Olmert's name?

Attacking the Netanyahu government and the Likud's shift to the Right, Livni said, "A government that initially refused to say two states is getting one in the UN and one in Gaza," she said.

More of the same suicidal, "two state" crap?  OK. So, maybe Tzippy Livni really IS that bad.

The former Likud MK and Kadima leader also emphasized her commitment to ensuring Israel's security and both its Jewish and democratic character.

Translation:
"democratic character" - Anti-Torah character.

Livni had delayed announcing her future for weeks amid speculation that she would run with an existing party or try to form a bloc of parties on the Center-Left.

...which means that she was unsuccessful.  She tried enlisting the help of Labor Party Leader Shelly Yahamovitch, President Shimon Peres (Kadima), and even former Prime Minister and convicted criminal Ehud Olmert (Kadima), but to no avail.

She did not present her candidates at Tuesday’s press conference.

Sources said she felt no need to hurry to reveal her candidates since Knesset lists do not need to be submitted to the Central Elections Committee until December 6. They added she wanted to announce her political comeback before leaving for the Saban Center Conference in Washington on Thursday.

Former prime minister Ehud Olmert, who met with Livni Monday night at his Tel Aviv office, is not expected to announce his political future until Wednesday. Sources said all options were still open for him.

On the surface, this new party should be embraced as a good thing.  It will just take votes from Kadima and Labor, and possibly Likud.  Of course, whatever party wins in the next elections, it will be directed from behind the scenes by Shimon Peres and whoever gives him his orders, probably from abroad.

This new party seems to indicate only one thing.  Tzippy Livni has lost her usefulness to the powers that be.  She is either trying to fight it (dumb idea), or playing out her role, so that she can lean back and live out the rest of her life in comfort, for having followed orders.

Why Did Ehud Barak Resign From Politics?

Former Israeli Prime Minister and current Defense Minister SAYS he is resigning from politics, in order to "study, write, live and have a good time" and "stems from a desire to dedicate more time to [his] family."

But, what is the real reason that one of Israel's shadiest politicians is resigning from politics.

Let's take a look.

Defense Minister Ehud Barak announced Monday that he is resigning from politics and will not contend in the upcoming Knesset election. He will complete his term as defense minister, he said.

Translation: There are several possibilities - 1) He has outgrown his usefulness to the powers that be; 2) The powers that be have other plans for him; 3) This is part of a series of distractions, to take attention away from something else; 4) His Independence Party did not look like it would have enough votes to get him re-elected to the K'nesseth anyway (Tip: Efraim HaQatan); 5) All of the above.

Barak stated that while he had difficulties making the decision, he was confident in his choice. "I want to study, to write to live and have a good time," he said.

"My decision to resign stems from my desire to dedicate more time to my family," he said, adding that his passion never lied in politics.

Translation: A position behind the scenes sounds like a possibility.
 
"There are many ways to contribute to the state, not only through politics," he noted. (cont.)

Translation: We haven't heard the last of Ehud Barak.

In the meantime, say goodbye to Ehud Barak.
