JNS: Ramaswamy tells reporters he hopes US aid to Israel reduced by 2028
The entrepreneur and Republican candidate for president said he would support more funding if his “Abraham Accords 2.0” plan doesn’t work.

(August 21, 2023 / JNS)

Republican presidential candidate and entrepreneur Vivek Ramaswamy told JNS late last month that he supports most of former President Donald Trump’s policies on Israel and that he wanted to go further than the former president with respect to the Abraham Accords.

In a recent interview with The Washington Free Beacon, Ramaswamy articulated a rather different aspect of his “Abraham Accords 2.0,” including ending military funding to Israel by 2028.

“If we’re successful, the true mark of success for the U.S. and for Israel will be to get to a 2028 where Israel is so strongly standing on its own two feet, integrated into the economic and security infrastructure of the rest of the Middle East—that it will not require and be dependent on that same level of historical aid or commitment from the U.S.,” he told the paper.

The candidate later told the Free Beacon by email that he would support continued Israeli aid should his Abraham Accords 2.0 plan not succeed. (cont.)
Esser Agaroth (2¢):
This post is not for the purpose of praising Ramaswamy, not in the least. I mean he mentions the made-up region of Palestine for goodness sakes. How much could he possibly know or care about the region?

I am simply pointing out that he is right about reducing, and eventually eliminating, aid to Israel. Former Amb., and fellow Republican candidate for president, Nikki Haley has criticized Ramaswamy for this policy, calling it a mistake.

Haley is wrong; Ramaswamy is right.

Jews just read in last week's Torah portion Shofetim:
״...neither shalt thou take a gift; for a gift doth blind the eyes of the wise, and pervert the words of the righteous." (Deut. 16:19)
This verse refers to judges. However, we can easily apply this notion to our government, whether right wing or left. After all a truly Jewish government has always been made up of the Sanhedrin, local courts, and the King.

Time and time again, with rare exceptions, we have seen the U. S. government tell Israel to jump (negotiate with terrorists, show restraint while getting bombarded by missiles, etc.), and in return the Israeli government asks how high it jump.

Yes, within the context of Israel's relationship with the U. S. financial assistance is now nothing less than a bribe.

To continue about Ramaswamy, his Abraham Accords 2.0 will include Saudi Arabia, which is buying up land in Israel through shell companies. The United Arab Emirates [UAE] are doing the same, much more openly, exploiting Israelis' desperate need for love and validation from the outside.

And so, Ramaswamy is just like any other good candidate for U. S. president. He puts America first. Israel much farther down on the list of priorities.

With Arab "friends" like these, it will only hasten Israel's eventual destruction through assimilation into a global community, secular Jews, even many so-called religious Zionists indoctrinated into robotic state loyalty by the State education system, along with the countless non-Jews flowing into the country from Africa and the Ukraine, not to mention foreign workers from the Philipines, India, and elsewhere, will cheer the disappearance of Israel as a separate and distinct nation. The United Nations will finally get its revenge for Israel defending itself against the Arabs who refused to accept the UN Partition Plan.

The Arab participants in the Abraham Accords are continuing to work toward the destruction of Israel. They are are still Ishmaelites (Gen. 16:11-12, 21:9). Nothing has changed except their ways and means to achieve their goal.

The only silver lining is that, due to our Israeli stubbornness, we see in our history as early as Ex. 34:9, we will not be so compliant to when receiving orders from the U. S. with its reduction, and eventual elimination of financial assistance.

The main differences between Ramaswamy and Haley are:
  1. Haley's ulterior motives for funding Israel: continued control and eventual complete surrender to a Christian takeover of Israel, though increased dependence (leash) on the U. S.
  2. Ramaswamy also wants to exploit Israel, but is somewhat more intellectually honest about it.
  3. Ramaswamy's reduction, and eventual elimination of funding to Israel will be difficult, but necessary for Israel's collective psychological health, giving our collective co-dependence as a nation a proverbial kick in the pants gut. (Moshe Feiglin has been talking about this for years.)
  4. A side effect of Ramaswamy's Abraham Accords 2.0 front for the advancement of U. S. interests might be a little easy for the average Israeli to clock than Haley's "love and money."
Let me know in the comments
who designed this fantastic shirt!

For better or worse, we're stuck with Trump, which means the Land giveaways in the Trump Plan. Barring any unforeseen circumstances, neither Ramaswamy nor Haley has a chance in the Republican primaries.

So if you are a non-Jewish American, and want to help Israel, vote for Ramaswamy over Haley. He seems a lot more trustworthy, and will help Israel kick its addiction to U. S. aid.

But if you're a Jew, get the hell out of there already, and come and help make Israel Great and Jewish Again!

Rabbi Calls for PM Netanyahu to Resign

English follows the Hebrew. The video is in English with transcript below.

Transcript:
It was about six months ago I believe, on a day when we had a gathering planned here, and I was about to leave Gush Etzion to come here, when I received a call from Rachel Stern, that they had been fired upon in Huwarah (in Samaria), if you recall. It is a strange coincidence, but a fact, that today again, we have a lesson, in Jerusalem on the same day someone that I know was seriously wounded this morning in South Hevron, not to mention a woman who he picked, a hitchhiker was killed.

All this serves to demonstrate how our situation is deteriorating, how this government is of very little value, to put it mildly, how the head of that government, the prime minister, needs to resign, because he the prime minister and his government -- these peoeple in general, it's more than that, it goes way beyond that -- we're talking about the Israeli deep state, which means the heads of the army and the police force and the scurity services, and the so-called justice system, all these people to put it simply, do not have our best interests at heart.

Now that should be plain to anybody.

Israeli Leftists Complain About Police Brutality

MK Effie Eitom at Amona
Former MK Effie Eitam at Amona

Nili: “You see me in the photograph, one against many, but that is only an illusion – behind the many stands one man – [Prime Minister Ehud] Olmert, but behind me stand the Lord and the people of Israel.”

Ha'aretz: Masked, Unidentifiable Cops Beat Israeli Civilians With Impunity – How Long Can It Go On?
The attorney general and the state prosecutor need to shake up the unit that investigates police misconduct. If they sent undercover agents to the demonstrations, every riot officer would think twice before raising a hand against a protester

Josh Breiner, Jul 30, 2023

It’s a Saturday night. Protesters in Tel Aviv have blocked the Ayalon Highway again. Hundreds of demonstrators fill the traffic lanes. Dozens of riot police officers punch them, wearing helmets so they cannot be identified, without name tags. They drag demonstrators roughly across the asphalt. A water cannon truck operates nonstop, targeting the heads of protesters with high-pressure jets of water, and mounted officers whip and trample demonstrators. (cont.)
Esser Agaroth (2¢):
Josh Breiner is right to report on the brutality of the Israeli police, in particular the Yasa"m (riot police). Personally, I am against any unbridled police brutality. I was surprised to hear that many less right-wing -- for lack of a better descriptor -- than myself disagree, that these leftists, along with those horribly misguided Religious Zionists had it coming, blocking roads, including the entrance to the airport, effectively disrupting the country.

They are wrong. They fail to recall that we did the same thing in protest of the pending expulsion of Jews from Gaza in תשס״ה/2005. Did we deserve it, too? The Sharon Government certainly thought so.

Those protesting against judicial reform are simply pawns of the internal, anti-Torah enterprise we have been battling against, since leaving Egypt thousands of years ago. Those protesting include not only the progressive "let's be like the goyim" leftists, but also those confused, religious Jews who have been indoctrinated into the belief that Torah Law and the secular laws of the State of Israel are very much alike, if not the same... When I suggest to them that they are not the same, they respond that we do not have the "high level" understanding and patience, as our [State (mamlakhi)] rabbis do, blah, blah, blah. And so they blindly follow them. My eyes never roll as much as they do on occasions of hearing this claim.

But, I digress...

If you want to live in a democracy (I don't), then you have to allow everyone the right to protest, without fear of violence, and not just those supporting the government, which happens to be in power at the time. To say that police brutality is the antithesis of democracy would be an understatement.

That being said, where with the Ha'aretz, Ma'ariv, and Yedioth Aharonoth journalists when settlers and Haredim get beat up by police?

Where were they when police were caught without name tags years ago? You don't actually believe this was the first time they have pulled that stunt? Do you?

Where were these journalists, when young women, minors included, jailed for protesting the impending expulsion of Jews from Gaza (including Gush Qatif) and Northern Samaria had their "boundaries violated" by male guards in the Tirtza Women's Prison?

And where were these journalists when young settlers, minors included, were tortured at the hands of government agents? When false confessions were forced out of them? Were they cheering them on?

In all fairness to these journalists, maybe I missed their reports with complaints and protestations. I will await their replies with links to their articles. However, I will not be holding my breath.

Undercover Cops
Of course, there are undercover agents and police at protests. How else to they gather intelligence on the organizers and participants, and make threat assessments? Haredi, anarchist, Religious Zionist, doesn't matter, they are there. Are they manipulating the situation from withing? I'll let you decide that for yourselves. See the photo above of the allegedly exposed agent from Gaza, 2005.

Remember Avishai Raviv? Years before the Rabin assassination, he was quite active undercover, including encouraging residents of Beit El to go up the Artiss Hill, even after being beaten back by police.

Reservists
In the protests against the Oslo Death Accords in the early 1990s IDF reservists refused to show up for annual reserve duty. Guess what happened to them? They were jailed.

President Joe Biden

Fox News: Trump says Georgia indictment comes during 'dark period' for US, vows to fix it by winning
Trump said the Georgia indictment comes 'right smack in the middle' of his campaign
Brooke Singman | August 15, 2023
Esser Agaroth (2¢):
Another ridiculous indictment for former President Trump.

To be clear, I am not at all a fan of his.

Sure, if I were still a U. S, citizen (I'm not), and if I resided in the U. S., and if I was loyal to the U. S., and to not other authority, and if I weren't Jewish, then, of course, I would vote for Trump. He is one of the best presidents the U. S. has ever had.

For the U. S. Not for Israel.

He wants us to play ball with the Arabs identifying themselves as "Palestinians." Not his call.

He wants us to give up parts of the Land of Israel. What? You didn't know?

The Land of Israel is not his to give away, not Biden's, not Netanyahu's, not Barak's, not anyone's.

This all being said, President Joe Biden has received a lot of criticism from Trump, Trump supporters, and conservatives in general for his policies, and lack of action along the Mexican border, with transportation tragedies causing environmental disasters, and now his refusal to discuss the details of his trip to Hawaii, which has been devastated by fires on the island of Maui.

On the other hand, Biden has also been the target of fingers pointing to his display of symptoms of the onset of dementia.

Conservatives can't have their cake and eat it, too. So which is it? Incompetence? Apathy on the level of evil? Or Senility?

Conservatives are attacking Biden, because he is a tangible target to attack, someone voters can actually identify int he physical world. The truth is that it is his handlers who deserve the criticism for destroying the country, while they try to find an acceptable way to replace him and Vice-Priesdent Harris before the 2024 presidential campaign really gets underway.

JPOST: Smotrich demolished a Jewish outpost and upheld Israeli law - editorial
In authorizing the removal of the structures at A’yira Shachar, Smotrich made an important and welcome statement about the necessity of upholding the rule of law for all.

By JPOST EDITORIAL: AUGUST 15, 2023
Esser Agaroth ():
We did not vote for Betzalel Smotrich to destroy Jewish strongholds, no matter how small or new. We voted for him because he would not destroy them, instead he would legalize them.

We did not vote for Smotrich because he would hold up such idiotic "Israeli" laws. We voted for Smotrich so that he would change those laws, or at the very least, demonstrate to our nation that, when in conflict, Torah Law takes precedence over "Israeli" law.

Personally I should have seen Smotrich's position on forced vaccination as being more of a red flag than I thought. (above)

In their Christian "Prayer Space"
Smotrich STILL has not answered my question about meeting with Christian evangelicals (above) who have essentially taken over at least one hilltop in Samaria. Surprisingly, he doesn't even just that Rabbi Eliezer Melamed of Har Bracha approves, so what's the problem? Maybe he did, and I missed it.

Nevertheless, many of us decided to give Ben-Gvir and Itshak Wasserlauf a chance.

The hilltop youth I know from 20 years ago, now all raising families, either keeping their heads down in Samaria, or a significant amount donning black hats, realizing the utter failure of the Zionist enterprise, and identifying as Haredi (ultra-orthodox).

Believe you me many of are staying home the next elections.

Betzalel, don't you realize that?

The Hope of Tu b'Av

English follows the Hebrew.

On Tu b'Av, I was on the bus, coming back from Tel Aviv at 1:00 AM. In back of me sat six high school boys talking.

What were they talking about?

One of the boys was recounting the story of of Qamtza and Bar Qamtza (TB Gittin 55b), a prominent midrash agadah (story), related to the destruction of HaBayith HaSheni (the Second Temple). I decided turn around,... casually. I did not see any kippoth (Jewish male head covering), only a couple of them had longish hair, one of them very long hair, the one recounting the story for them.

I heard nothing heretical, like one might expect from students of the secular Israeli state educational system. I supposed that they did not have to be secular. Maybe they went to a religious school, but did not wear kippoth while on vacation. Who knows?

They then went on to discuss how nothing belongs to us. The Holy One Blessed Be owns everything.

The secular-appearing man waving a rainbow pride fan sitting across the aisle from me chimed in. Although I cannot recall what he contributed to the discussion, I do remember that I happened to agree with him. The high school boys also seemed to accept what he had said.

Four of the boys got off the bus in either Givataim, a city not known for its embrace of Torah, or east central Tel-Aviv. It wasn't clear. The last two got off in a mixed modern orthodox, secular suburb.

You just cannot make this stuff up.

The curse of dying on the Tribes of Israel while wandering in the desert was imposed, carried out, and eventually removed on Tisha b'Av (9th of Av). However, the curse's removal was not recognized until Tu b'Av (15th), when the full moon proved that the ninth of the month had already passed without the annually expected, mass deaths.

In spite of the City of Tel-Aviv's ongoing battle against Torah, I had some of my hope restored the other night on Tu b'Av, definitely a well-needed boost after the sadness and depression of Tisha b'Av.

Israeli PM Binyamin Netanyahu Explains the Judicial Reform in English

English follows the Hebrew.

Esser Agaroth (2¢):
For those of you interested... Maybe you're sick of U. S. politics, right, left, upside down. Try Israeli politics for five minutes.

This interview by Mark Levin covers the judicial reform issue clearly and concisely, focusing on the "reasonableness" clause, recently cancelled by the Israeli government. The partial, self-perpetuation of Israel's Supreme Court will be addressed by the Knesset in due course.

This illustration from Kohelet, an organization with which I often do not agree, provides a picture of just how much power Israel's Supreme Court currently posseses.

I am not a fan of Netanyahu. He is very problematic in many ways. This video is biased, and Netanyahu definitely has his ulterior motives for judicial reform. However, on this issues in this interview, I believe he is right. See the posted highlights. The Israeli Supreme Court has been running amok for years. Unfortunately, the system's supporters have the resources and the government didn't see it coming. (or did they? 🤔) Their bad.
PM Binyamin Netanyahu (01:40): We want to create a system of check and balances. The "Reasonableness" clause that we have says -- you don't have to eliminate it altogether -- you say that it's not enough... to nulify a government decision or a law based on something subjective, like an argument "I think this is unreasonable." So, there are limitations on this. Well you know this is what you have in all democracies. This is presented by our opponents as being this awful end to democracy. If that's the case, then you have no democracies anywhere else on earth. And the Court has a lot of other checks...
That was an explanation of the first part of judicial reform in Israel, which was just passed, removing the Israeli Supreme Court's abiity to cancel a law or other government action is fins to be [subjectively] unreasonable. In other words, distasteful to the Left. Now here is an explanation of what is truly behind the protests against the judicial reform.
Mark Levin (03:22): Mr. Prime Minister, Your opposition parties have really organized most of these protests. And they haven’t been secret about it, although the media seems to ignore it. We’re talking about opposition to you, to your majority, your coalition. They have not accepted the results of your election. And, as I see it, they’re trying to overthrow your government. They’re trying to get your government to back off. By the way, that’s how Ehud Barak sees it, a former prime minister, who’s helped organize this effort, and many others. You’ve got all kinds of dark money seeping into your country, even from outside your country. You’ve got all kinds of mouthpiece surrogates in the media, like Thomas Friedman, and others, who are trying to undermine your government, and who have never supported your government. Isn’t this really a way to try to destroy the coalition that you put together with the overwhelming support of the Israeli people?

PM Binyamin Netanyahu (04:15): Well the organizers of the demonstrations say so openly. In fact, they began their efforts, well before we established a government put forward the judicial reform. They just say, listen, we have to bring down,… This is a center right government, and they want a left government. They don’t want us in power. They want to be in power. Except they can’t get it through elections. So they’re trying to do it through these massive disruptions. You know, blocking roads, setting up fires, blocking the airport, and things of that sort. And the other thing they’re trying to do is basically I would say, assemble a cast of former generals, who tell you that, or basically telling the government, if you don't do what we say, if you go ahead with legilation, then we're going to insight for mass disobedience in the army. I'll tell you the day that Israel, that Israel's elected government succumbs to threats for former generals, that's the end of democracy. And we're not going to let that happen. That's where we are today, and we're not letting it happen.
Interesting that he did not give former Supreme Court President Aharon Barak any power by mentioning his name. Most Americans would not have recognized his name. Why help Barak by doing so, no matter how much feins lack of involvement in the opposition to bringing his judicial power structure down?

Politics can be complicated in Israel. You can be economically left-wing, but conservative when it comes to social issues, vice-versa, and any other possible combinations you can think of.
  • There is a gay Speaker of the Knesset from a right of center party.
  • A Sepharadi, haredi (ultra-orthodox) now former, member of Knesset attending his nephew's wedding to a man. (Sure, he was pushed out of his seat because of this, but... he went.)
  • There are settlers who are more environmentally conscious than the hypocritical, fake left of North Tel Aviv.
  • Meanwhile, a left-wing lesbian is fighting against illegal immigration in South Tel Aviv.
Never a dull moment. You just can't make this stuff up.

Jewish Unity? Bashing Israeli-Bashing

Even though this post is directed to most, but of course not all, native, English speaking immigrants in Israel, place of honor is still given to Hebrewת by placing it before the English version.

Esser Agaroth (2¢):
Over the 26 years I have lived inIsrael, I have had the very unfortunate experience of hearing English-speaking olim (immigrants) in Israel say disparaging things about native Israelis. The pattern is almost always the same. The people speaking did not do their homework regarding Israeli culture, assumed the worst that they were being taken advantage of, and had it stuck in the heads that the best and proper way to operate in any situation, whether business, work, personal, is always the American way of doing things (...or British, or Australian, or South African, etc.).

I hope it is obvious that I am not writing about all English speakers in Israel, not by a long shot.

However, this situation should sound very familiar to you, as the word "entitled" is very popular these days in the news and in social media. The United States is huge. American are known for their cultural-centric mentality. I cannot speak for any other countries. Unless you grew up near the Mexican border, as I did, I guess you cannot be expected to have much multi-cultural life experience. Even you grew grew in New York City or Miami, you can still manage to wander around, blind to anything culturally different than yourselves, instead looking upon such things as exotic oddities.

When I am in areas known for their English speakers, generally suburbs, I always feel embarrassed when I open my mouth, and a native Israeli hears my accent. After a minute or two chatting, the native Israeli realizes that I am "not one of those Americans," either because I used an idiom or slang word correctly, or I responded with "ein ba'ayah" (no problem), after being told there might be a delay in service.

I would like to think that I am in the majority of American Israelis, who speak Hebrew comfortably and who have adapted, feeling comfortable within an Israeli cultural framework, or who at least have these set as their goals, no matter how frustrating it can be upon first arriving in a new country, and wanting to call it home. But, I don't know.

Some new immigrants choose to live in predominantly English speaking towns or neighborhoods. Others, like myself, choose to avoid such residential areas at all costs. Both of these choices can be the correct choice.

Rather than perpetuate the same negativity I am accusing some of you of perpetuating, here is only a partial list of the positive experiences I have had in Israel. Perhaps this will encourage you to embraace a new and different perpective.
The clerk at the Ministry of Interior remembers me from the year before, expedites my request for aliyah/citizenship. Incidentally, I have never had a negative experience at this Ministry. Maybe it was because I smiled, was polite, and bothered to ask to clerk how she was doing that day, instead acting upon some old, classist idealist from the U. S. that since I have a few letters after my name, or that I have what I believe is a better job than clerk, then I must be better than them

The man who gives me a tremp (ride) through the Shomron (Samaria), and goes out of his way to take me up the hill to my town, instead of dropping me off at the junction below. Actually, this happened several times, and always by native Israelis.

The total stranger who gives me money to catch the bus, and said to give to tzedaqah (charity), instead of having to track him down to pay him back.

The person who reminds the store person who protects your place in line, and who reminds you that you're before him when you weren't paying attention.

The lady who let me go before when you only have one or two items.

The bus driver who risks his job, by allowing a 10-year-old kid on the bus, and to pay him next time, because he forgot his money, and needs to get to school.

The store owner who poured me a glass of juice on a hot day, without even asking, and before I even had a chance to say hello.

The guy who works at the shwarmah place, who remembers how I like and prepares it without even asking, so it is ready when I get to the front of the line.

The bus driver who sees me running down a ramp from a bridge who waits for me, so that I do not have to wait another 20 minutes for the next bus.

...AND none of the passengers complained about having to wait an extra two minutes for me at the bus stop.

The Haredi pharmacist who found a significantly less expensive version of a product, not covered by insurance. No. Not just a generic, but a well-known brand.

I have been working on this post for while now, years, in fact. Just now, while getting my order at my usual coffeehouse, I spilled my coffee all over the place. The server did not have to think twice about it. He had another one prepared for me, free of charge.
I am guessing that you had the same or similar experiences in your country of origin, especially in smaller towns or close knit neighborhoods. Do any of you remember any of these events while living in Israel? Did you miss them? Have you bothered to pay attention? Or did the lashon harah (inappropriate things you've heard) get too stuck in your heads to allowit? Did you judge with native Israelis with kaf zekhuth (benefit of the doubt)?

Too comfortable living in your insulated, English-speaking bubble? Feeling a little defensive, and getting ready to cry "sinas hinam" (baseless hatred), and yell at me for daring to post such a thing, so soon after Tisha b'Av?

Relax.

Yeah, I know. I hate it when people tell me to relax. Nevertheless, if you are getting flustered, set this post aside, then come back to it later, and only read the list of positive experiences I wrote.

We are a month and a half away from Rosh HaShannah. A new year is a great opportunity to begin developing a new perspective, a great opportunity to change our attitudes.

We are not perfect. Neither are native Israelis.

Take the initiative to bend a little, and you may end up amazing yourselves.

What Exactly Did Israeli President Herzog Say to the U. S. Congress?

English follows the Hebrew.

Times of Israel: ‘Israel has democracy in its DNA’: Full text of Isaac Herzog’s address to Congress
In speech honoring Israel at 75, president hails US as ‘our greatest partner and friend,’ calls overhaul tensions ‘the clearest tribute to the fortitude of Israel’s democracy’
19 July 2023

...Against all odds, the Jewish people returned home and built a national home, which became a beautiful Israeli democracy, a mosaic of Jews, Muslims, Christians, Druze and Circassians, secular, traditional and orthodox, of all denominations, and all possible views and lifestyles...

...Dear friends, it’s no secret that over the past few months, the Israeli people have engaged in a heated and painful debate. We have been immersed in voicing our differences and revisiting and renegotiating the balance of our institutional powers in the absence of a written constitution. In practice, the intense debate going on back home, even as we speak, is the clearest tribute to the fortitude of Israel’s democracy. Israel’s democracy has always been based on free and fair elections, on honoring the people’s choice, on safeguarding minority rights, on protection of human and civil liberties, and on a strong and independent judiciary. Our democracy is also one-hundred-and-twenty Members of Knesset, comprised of Jews, Muslims, Christians or Druze, representing every opinion under the Israeli sun, working and debating side by side. Our democracy is also late Friday afternoon, when the sound of the Muezzin calling to prayer, blends with the siren announcing the Sabbath in Jerusalem, while one of the largest and most impressive LGBTQ Pride Parades in the world is going on in Tel Aviv...
Esser Agaroth (2¢):
So, what exactly did President Yitzchak "Bougie" Herzog say, in his speech to a joint session of Congress?

Let's go through each of the code phrases and virtue signals mentioned in his speech, one by one, shall we?

The Jewish people returned home and built a national home, which became a beautiful Israeli democracy, a mosaic...
Multiculturalism replaces nationalism, becoming a nation like all Western, democratic nations. Democracy from Greece is the ideal, not the Torah, which authentically Jewish.

Minority rights
Expect more of them to come, more minorities, and more rights for the minorities, while the rights of Torah-observant Jews continue to diminish. This is a signal to the "international community" not to worry. The fight continues for "democratic votes," against the increasing population of haredi (ultra-orthodox) and settlers , both right-wing and right of center.

Honoring people's choice... protection of human and civil liberties
This marks a commitment to the continued battle against Torah, which clearly lays out limits on behavior. Instead Herzog signals that the progressive, Western approach of doing whatever you want, eating whatever you want, sleeping with whomever you want, worshipping what and whomever you want are the ultimate objectives of his vision.

The sound of the Muezzin calling to prayer, blends with the siren announcing the Sabbath in Jerusalem
Complete Arab integration into Israeli society, a "marriage," if you will, between Muslims and Jews.

A strong and independent judiciary
Not just independent, but strong and independent judiciary. Even though the role of president is supposed to remain apolitical, just like past president Shimon Peres, Herzog is anything but apolitical, demonstrating his support for the continued judicial dictatorship, instituted by past Supreme Court President Aharon Barak. In Israel, the expression "legislating from the Bench" is an understatement.

I should say that everything else stated above is also political. However, these progressive, Western exilic "let's be like the goyim" shenanigans are standard among many on the so-called center-right.

The people of Israel are grateful to no end for the ancient promise fulfilled and for the friendship we have formed.
It was very clear what President Herzog told the joint session of the U. S. Congress the other day, especially when he expressed gratitude for the fulfillment of our ancient promise and Israel's friendship with the U. S., seemingly placing them on the same level.

We want to be just like you.

Please allow us to continue to lick your boots.

Maybe one day, President Herzog will realize that we cannot pick and choose what we like, and disregard what we do not like, in the Torah. The Torah, the original source of Zionism, does state The Almighty's promise of the Land of Israel to the People of Israel. In fact, it is stated many times.

What Herzog seems to miss is that "our ancient promise," was made to Abraham, was then made to his heir Isaac, and not to Ishmael (Arabs / Muslims). The promise was made to Isaac's heir Jacob, and not to Esau (The West / Christians and progressives). "Our" promise, and not anyone else's.

I am not optimistic about President Herzog finally accepting this.

I am optimistic that authentic Zionism, the Zionism expounded upon in the Torah, will eventually prevail.

The evolving, make-it-up as you go along, Zionism of the left and of the mamlakhtim (religious, diehard State loyalists) indoctrinated in Israeli's public schools, will eventually be revealed to be the distortion that it truly is.

Michael Rainsbury, in his blog post Rewriting Hatikva: The significance of President Herzog’s speech, writes...
In asserting the hope that we can strive to 'heal our fractured world,' Herzog put forward a new conception of Zionism...

...But what is most significant is that Herzog has dared to reinterpret the sacred word “Hatikva,” which cuts to the core of Israel’s national identity, from “to be a free nation in our land” to “healing a fractured world.” What has held Israel together until now has been the dream of independence. And it was an impossible dream. But, remarkably, it has now been realized, despite the many threats posed by our enemies....
For the record, and it should be obvious, I completely disagree with the praise Rainsbury showers upon Herzog. But he deserves credit for pointing out the direct connection between the State of Israel's national anthem "Hatikva" (The Hope") and its quintessential line “to be a free nation in our land,” as well as Herzog's [not so] new conception of Zionism.

I write not so new, since this certainly would not be the first in the list of times Zionism has been creatively re-interpreted. However, each re-interpretation has been with the same intent, to move the "hope" of the State of Israel in the same direction, farther away from Torah.

Nation here in “to be a free nation in our land” is עם Am in Hebrew, which can just as easily be translated to people, as nation. I propose that this is exactly what Herzog, and his Labor Zionist predecessors before him, have been plotting and planning all along. To be a free people to them does not mean being free from oppression outside of Israel. Rather, it means to be a people free to do whatever it wants, free of עול מלכות שמים the yoke of Heaven, free from following the Torah, free to be a people or nation, like any other people or nation on this planet.

It's Just a Bus!

English follows the Hebrew.

הם אמרו, "!Just a bus" (רק אוטובוס!או "!It's just a bus" (זה רק אוטובוס!)

Esser Agaroth (2¢):
I was on the bus in Tel-Aviv recently. I was on the way to the beach, and then to an event. The bus got particularly crowded when a bunch of junior high and high school students got on. An Arab woman, dressed in fully modest Muslim garb, got on the bus shortly afterwards.

Mind you, there had just been an Arab terrorist attack. Four Jews were murdered in a shooting attack on the road near the town of Eli in Efraim, in Samaria. I have never witnessed any Arab act in a bold manner so soon after a terrorist attack. In fact, I have only ever seen the opposite

When I lived in Tel Aviv 25 years, Arabs stayed out of sight, for fear of getting beaten up, as I heard they were on the beaches of Netanya and elsewhere. Actually, I do not remember so many Arabs in Tel-Aviv at all back then, not even Arab workers, and not any foreign workers.

This Arab woman had the hutzpah (gall) to yell at Jewish kids after a terrorist attack.

Why was she yelling? Because the kids were making noise. Imagine that. Teenagers making noise on the bus. And Arab teenagers never make noise on the bus? I can wholeheartedly testify that Arab teenagers do, in fact, make noise on buses.

I see myself as being fairly sensitive to noise. Yet, what I heard was just your typical conversation level volume. There were just a lot of conversations going on simultaneously. The bus driver was certainly not bothered by it. And Israeli bus drivers are not at all shy about telling kids, and adults talking on their phones too close to the driver's seat, to be quiet. But this bus driver was more bothered by the passengers not moving to the back of the bus, in order to let more people on in the front.

Unlike the bus driver, I wasn't having it. This woman was being completely unreasonable. Furthermore she was yelling in English. (I sometimes seem to forget that English in the official language of Tel-Aviv, and not Hebrew. But that's another post for another time...) So, I began raising my own voice in Hebrew, telling her that this is Israel, where we speak the language of the Jewish People, Hebrew! To my pleasant surprise, no one said anything critical of my actions. No one told me to shut up, not even the bus driver I was sitting in back of. No one made even a single sour face at me.

"If you don't know English, that's your problem. You should learn English," she shouted, clearly indicating that she understood what I had said in Hebrew.

Actually, she's wrong. If things continue to go the way they are going, we should concern ourselves with learning Arabic, not English.

One or two kids of the on the bus attempted to respond to this woman in English, in spite of my proving that she understood Hebrew. They started saying, "Just a bus!" or "It's just a bus!"

I asked the kid standing next to me, probably in seventh or eighth grade, what exactly that was supposed to mean. Did it mean that it's just a short bus ride, it can be noisy when it's crowded, and just relax about it? He said yeah, that's right.

But it wasn't just a bus, and we shouldn't just relax. Nothing like this would have happened 25 years ago. Instead, the Arab would be suspected of being a potntial suicide bomber. And the Jewish high school students, even the secular ones, would have responded a lot more passionately, a lot more forcefully. They would have had an ounce of pride of being Jews, speaking a revived language, and in a homeland inaccessible to us, even forbidden to most of us for hundreds of years.

When will we finally decide to make being Jewish, speaking Hebrew, and living in our only, true homeland fashionable, even great again?

Soon, I hope and pray.
